The CURRENT managers here are HANDS DOWN, the BEST. RYAN AND MALEA. Since they took over, everything has been excellent. The condos have ALWAYS been spectacular. All ocean facing, beautiful grounds, so SERENE and very well kept. Before Malea and Ryan there were issues with accountability when something went wrong in a unit. My last 5 visits, they took care of ANY issue, often when it wasn't their jobs. So- management is STELLAR These condos are ON MAALEAA BAY. The whales BREACH right there. The outrigger club paddles by every morning. Egrets chase the gardeners around. It's seriously paradise. If you like water slides, lots of people- this is not your place. The most people you will see is at sunset when the condo owners all bring there conch shells down to blow for the sunset. It IS a killer location tho. Close to all the Kihei stuff, not far from Lahaina or Paia. 2 pools, 2 groups of condos surrounding each pool. Beach is public but the only people you see are people walking by- otherwise it's quiet. One thing I truly appreciated was that everything (and I mean everything LOL) was labeled making it so easy to put things away after using them. The views from the Livingroom and lanai were breathtaking. We spent every morning sipping coffee on the lanai and watching for whales and ended each day with a beverage on the Lanai watching the sunset. There is plenty to do on the property from swimming, having a BBQ, reading in the quiet lobby, and even fishing right on the shore in front of the house! Denise is the most genuine hostess. From the first contact until the day we left, she was very responsive and provided so much valuable information. I loved all the information she shared about local transportation, businesses, restaurants, customs, and places to visit. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, Luana Moana is the place to go! The host is very informative and all furnishings are clean and new with a tastefully Hawaiian decor. My favorite activity was my morning cup of French Pressed coffee sitting on the Lanai watching the sunrise over Haleakala listening to the waves crashing against the sea wall. Watching the turtles surface; the whales breaching and the birds singing... Can't wait to return...

The location is perfect. kihei usually has better weather than other parts of the island and it is basically the mid point of the major tourist spots. The pictures showed how immaculate and well cared for this studio is, but doesn't show you how many amenities there are!! Entering the unit with keyless entry was a breeze. Everything is labeled (who wants to waste their vacation figuring out how the appliances work??) and we found everything we needed in the kitchen, a very clean bathroom with plenty of towels/beach towels and this unit has a vanity! I am one of those women who dread the typical poor hotel lighting and leaning over a huge sink to get close enough. My overnight stays in Maui range from a basic, old- yet charming attached guest quarters in kula to a beach view at Hotel Wailea. While the latter was a ritzy experience, I would rather stay here!! Just. yay. We will be back Tracy!

It also seemed like we were the only family with children in the entire complex. I felt any noise level might be a nuisance during my entire week here so that was already on my conscience upon arrival! On Day 1, we had one incident where my brother smoked on the premises, my fault for not communicating all the rules to him right away. But he remained humble and respectful and smoked in the designated area after that. Because of this incident, management blamed us for everything that every family might have done wrong at the complex! Cigarette buds were found here and there, and it was blamed on us. My brother wanted to prove to management that they were not his, but I did not have time for this kind of crap on my family vacation!!! Food was found inside the pool area, and apparently management assumed it was my family again. Never once did we bring food into the pool area! Different families gathered at the pool area each and every night and yet fingers were pointed at my family. I'm assuming mgmt is the old, grumpy white male probably in his late 80's because he frowned everytime we walked by. I don't know if it's because we happened to be the only ASIANS staying there and mgmt. perhaps stereotyped us or was racist. Or perhaps it's because we were the only family with small children so he assumed any mess had to belong to them!! The rudest part is mgmt. did not handle these issues professionally. How he addressed everything was - During our last 2 days of our stay, he left a long nasty letter on our door and I was livid to find it after a long tiring day of excursions with my family around the island!!!! He made a full page listing of things that he felt we were responsible for during the entire week, including trash found around the complex! With as many people as he had staying there, I don't understand how we were suddenly held responsible for everything! He even said he had a report of someone smoking on the beach in front of the complex and stated there is absolutely no smoking even on the beach. Excuse me, but even if that person happened to be my brother, which it was NOT, since when was the beach owned by mgmt.?!!! On top of that, THERE IS PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE BEACH IN FRONT OF MAKANI A KAI!! Makani A Kai is at the end of the strip and it's next door neighbor is a nicely shaded small beach park, in which people camped overnight almost every night! As a matter of fact, during one night, some of the campers were lighting up small fireworks on the beach and even walked by and offered to give sparkling fireworks to my daughter who was sitting on the lawn area of the complex, in which I refused to let her have it knowing it was prohibited!! So tell me how management can possibly predict what happens around and in the condo/complex considering the location & setting of the complex and the state park next door?!! I have to say, each unit is owned and rented out by individual owners. The owner of our unit was incredibly nice and made much effort to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed the spacious units and tried to make the best of if it even though the property manager was a d***. If our days were not filled from 7am -7pm with excursions, tours, and beach visits each day, had I had some spare time, I would have dealt with this in person with mgmt. Unfortunately I chose not to lose it over this crappy matter during my vacation. Unfortunately due to horrible management, I would never recommend this place to any friends visiting Maui nor will I ever come back! We've stayed at plenty of other places in the past, this one is by far the worst experience!

I got a confirmation that they had charged my credit card for the deposit and we were good to go. So I started to get a flight and a car. Then 5 days later, they call me and tell me the owner of the unit rented it to a friend for that same time period and they were canceling my reservation and refunding my deposit. Now my son's winter break is NOT going to be filled with fun and sun!!
