My dog is 16 years old and has been a patient of a local vet for 3 years. We regularly take him to be groomed which includes nail trimming. The last 4 times taking him, the groomer who is very familiar with my dog now is refusing to trim his nails stating "He gets aggressive and is not cooperative "....my dogs nails were so long , he was tripping constantly . The vet staff recommended putting him under anesthesia . I am so glad I found Kandies Pampered Pooch in Foley. I text with the groomer and offered for them to put a muzzle and a harness if necessary. She stated she does everything to avoid that. I made the appointment, The groomer walked out and scooped up my medium size dog who was not wanting to go inside the building and brought him back outside in less than 10 minutes with amazing short nails! She said "He was fine" ..."I allow my older dogs to lay on the ground while I clip there nails and he laid right there "...He was a happy dog and so is his owner! when you walk in it's obvious the place has never been prove properly cleaned. meet with no smiles at all. dogs were in kennels half dried and shaking. there was a cat roaming around and the an stench of ammonia was very strong from all the cat pee. she charged me $10 more than she said she would. I've been all over America, you can look and see, and by far this was my worst experience. my dog was scratching and whining and ready to go. he never acts like that but maybe if they wouldn't have just dragged him to the back while he was leashed he would have had a better experience. his ears were still dirty and they didn't drive drimmel his nails like I asked. read more

The name is not Gateway Pet Grooming, it is Kandies Pampered pooch. We took our dog there for a nail clip while in Gulf Shores, when we got there the door was locked, so we knocked, a woman finally opened the door, we told her we had an appointment to get our dogs nails clipped. She came outside and shut the door behind her and she got our dog and went back in the building and just shut and locked the door in our faces before we could enter. We were so nervous after she took our boy that it felt like forever before she brought him back, I quickly took him and put him in the car, my husband paid her the $20 she said it cost and we left. There is something wrong with a business that will not let you see inside, we will never go back and I recommend that no one goes there. My poor dog sat so still in the back seat till we got home and he couldn't get out of the car fast enough and back in the house. I have no idea what happened in there but he didn't even want to go to the bathroom, which he always does, he just wanted in the house. I cannot recommend a dog groomer who does not let you see the facilities she keeps your dog in. When we come back we will definitely find a reputable groomer to take our boy to. read more

She was shaved all over her body and the hair was very uneven. They shaved her so short that her nose was scraped and is now red and bruised from the razor. They do not treat the dogs well or listen to what kind of cuts the owners request. read more

This company owner Kandi said she and her daughter was checking in out of the goodness of her heart? 3 checks to the business equaling $500.00 plus 2 checks to Alisha ( personal checks ) $100.00 and $210.00 . Not goodness of hearts. Theft by deception and taking advantage. No offer to return this $310.00 Alisha got for a 5 mile pick up.....unbelievable but happening everywhere!! read more

The past 2 times I've used this place my baby comes home with burn marks from the razor on her belly or this time it's under her arm it's actually pretty large. I understand dogs probably move while they get groomed but I've never had my dog welp (scream) when I touch her. There has to be a way to prevent this? So now it's irritated she's chewing, scratching making it worse. Having to use Benadryl and hydrocortisone cream on her.... I was going to try another place this past time but everyone was booked and they got me in quick. Never again. I will just wait next time. read more

We were visiting the area and one of our babies needed a full groom. We were a bit anxious because she's older and this would be a new groomer to her. Not only did she receive a great hair cut but it was faster than what we are typically used to and she WAS SO HAPPY! I was not pleased at all when I picked up my babies. I have a Yorkie and a Maltese, they were both scalped when I picked them up. I explained exactly how I wanted them cut, they did nothing like what we discussed. Our Yourkie had a full drape, now she has none. We are new to this area and we're looking for someone to take care of them bi weekly. This will not be our choice. read more
