Dr. Kane is a lifesaver for me and a one of a kind. I am somebody who has had really bad chronic pain most of my adult life. I have seen numerous doctors and specialists and have had all kinds of tests run on me, to the point where I wish something would show up positive so at least it could be fixed. I highly recommend Kane! He teaches you about why you are having pain and helps you with exercises to alleviate it. I went to him after having my first child, I had some back pain from carrying her around all the time. He helped me to realize that it was more based on my posture than my sweet wee one (whew! good thing I didn't have to blame her). Also, I had some pain behind my knee that had been bothering me whenever I would run more than 25-30 minutes. I was afraid I was hurting my knee running and would have to stop. He gave me a series of exercises that I continue to do. Just last week, I ran 8 miles and it started to hurt, I wasn't sure if I would be able to do the run this week. I'm a Pilates and Gyrotonic instructor and ended up in Kane's office for the first time after I became injured during a period of heavy rehearsals. He identified my imbalances by a series of movement tests (swinging each leg to look at misalignments) and then he retested after applying appropriate adjustments. He methodically addressed my 'challenges' which allowed me to move again, fluidly and pain free. He does a form of soft-tissue release as well as some conservative and accurate 'cracking' to readjust alignment. After the adjustments he gives easy to execute 'home work'. He sets aside a significant amount of time to deeply work with his clients. This is quite unusual and valuable. Dr. Bixby is an amazing and knowledgable chiropractor. He truly understands the anatomy, as well as the physiology, of the body. Dr. Bixby starts with really listening to what is going on with you, gives a comprehensive exam and then proceeds to help your body fix the problem. He actually teaches you what to do and how to do it. He helped me after major surgery get my alignment back in only three sessions. (During those sessions, there were a lot of instructions and exercises). He is amazing!!!! (Did I say that before?!) He helped my son fix a out of alignment disc in his neck that was creating numbness and pain in his hand. (Two sessions with instructions and exercises) Wow! He is so wonderful, I called him when my 4 year old grandson got a stiff neck and could not move it for three days. He came to the house, so my grandson would feel more comfortable. First he "worked on" my neck; then my grandson's bear's neck; then my grandson ( just a little to get him used to the idea). Two days later we brought him into the office, my grandson, let him work on him immediately and by the next morning, he was as good as new. Impressive! Kane basically saved my life, and he also renewed my faith in chiropractors. My previous experience was with a bone-cracker, who spent 5-10 minutes with me, cracked my back and moved on to his next patient. Kane is the opposite of that. Each time I've seen him it's been a focused, one-on-one session. I've described him to friends as part physical therapist, part deep tissue massage, part chiropractor. I showed up at his office barely able to walk with a pinched nerve in my back. Kane gave me a crash course in how the back works and how to fix it. Dr Bixby is different from ANY chiropractor i've ever been to. I scheduled an emergency appointment during a lower back crisis and in 2 sessions The pain was gone! Besides the actual adjustments, he takes his time teaching you "how to's" and exercises to do at home. Dr. Bixby has no equal. The first time I walked in to his office almost 10 years ago, I was in constant pain. Unlike previous chiropractors he did NOT suggest multiple weekly visits for many months but told me that I needed to do certain exercises along with his treatments to heal. He is straight forward and realistic. I saw him as needed and with less and less frequency. I followed his advice and saw him as needed. Today those problems I saw him for are all resolved. My back was twisted and I could barely stand up, let alone walk. I called Dr. Bixby and he saw me right away (I had to get driven to his office). He worked with me for over an hour - gave me great exercises, did some adjustment / massage, and I was able to walk out of his office. He gave me some exercises and suggestions how to take care of myself at home, which I followed to the letter. I came back a week later for one follow up visit, and felt great. Four weeks later I went on a ski trip, and was on the slopes 9 days out of 10 - felt great!! Kane Bixby is a Healer, plain and simple. He calls himself a chiropractor, which he is, but he's so much more. I went to Kane originally for a hip flexor problem that was so bad I was almost crippled. Through massage and acupressure, as well as specific stretches and exercises he taught me (and videotaped on my iPhone) I was completely better after a couple of sessions. Now, whenever my hip flexors begin to act up I go right to Kane's stretches and I'm back to normal. More recently, I went to Kane for chronic elbow pain exacerbated by kiteboarding and stand-up paddling. I had gone to my orthopedic surgeon with the problem but he offered no better suggestion than to stop doing the activities I love to do. Kane diagnosed the problem, massaged and stretched my forearm muscles, and gave me some lengthening and strengthening exercises for my forearm. I was having back problems for almost a year when my boss recommended I see Dr. Bixby. Kane responded to my email right away and followed up with a confirmation over the phone. That in itself was already a plus for me since people are just not as responsive anymore. During the first session, Kane really took the time to know all about my back problem and health history before doing any adjustments. I really appreciated his thoroughness and I did not feel like I was being rushed at all. In fact, what I thought was going to be a 50 minute session took an hour and fifteen minutes, so that just shows how meticulous he is. He sincerely wants you to get better; he is not the type who will let you keep coming back just because it's good for business. He told me I only needed two treatments, and true enough, after two sessions, my back issues disappeared and he said I didn't need to see him anymore. He educates you about your issue, he adjusts you thoroughly, and he spends a LONG time doing body work, ie loosening a muscle that's too tight, stretching out a hip flexor, etc etc. He teaches you great exercises to strengthen whatever areas you're weak in. He's casual, fun, a nice guy, and overall he provides great service. What I especially like about him is he's an athlete, he bikes a ton, so he doesn't get all preachy about reducing your activity. I am an avid horseback rider and recently got into yoga to help loosen up some muscles in my legs. However, while trying to do some poses at home, I hurt my back which was a weird feeling for me because I had never had back problems in the past. It progressively got worse and I was really scared that I might not be able to keep riding. I could barely walk, let alone get on a horse. Everyone (including my GP) kept telling me that it was a disc injury and that I needed to get an MRI right away, possibly even surgery - I was so overwhelmed!
