I'm not much of a yelper but had to write about our experience at Kanela-SW-Indy . We both agreed it was phenomenal, as soon we walked in the shop , we knew we'd make it a point to stop by every time we visit Fort Wayne. The coffee shop decor has a warm inviting feeling. As we glanced at the menu as made up to cashier/counter, we were greeted with a welcoming smile & hello. We are a mixed racial married couple. We get a lot of stares when we walk into a restaurant/shop. Athena D/cashier was very patient with my wife's questions about the smoothies, as well as mine. We asked so many questions. She was such a trooper. Thank you again Athena D. My wife ordered Slenderberry smoothie. I ordered the peanut butter cup smoothie w/o chocolate (I know I'm one of the few people in this world who allergic to chocolate) I added extra peanut butter and 2 extra bananas. Both of them were made to perfection. We also ordered break feast croissant, grown up grilled cheese, break feast burrito w/o the bacon. I gave up pork 2 years ago. The food was amazing & delicious. We had Kanela two mornings in a row and took it back to our hotel. My wife had the Americano with floras and almond milk. She also tried the Acai For Me bowl. I had the Egg and cheese with bacon croissant and a Mango tango smoothie. The service was pretty quick and I didn't have to wait long on my order. The food was excellent and a great way to start our day. The building is old and historic with a laid back atmosphere. read more

My body is made up of avocados, at least partially. If I don't eat an avocado or guacamole every 36 hours, I start to feel unbalanced. OK, that's a bit of an overstatement, but not by a lot! Avocados really are a big part of my diet, and when I was visiting Fort Wayne, I started to feel a little like a junkie itching for a fix. I needed something avocado-y! Luckily, I was staying in a hotel one block away from Kanela, so I walked there for breakfast to get an avocado toast. The avocado toast at Kanela was just what I needed: smashed avocado on a piece of sourdough bread, topped with chopped tomatoes and onions, corn and a sprinkle of cojita cheese. It was fresh and nourishing. The avocado toast went really well with my freshly made juice. I love a good juice bar, and Kanela makes their juices fresh when you order them. I lean toward the vegetal, earthy kinds of juices rather than sweet juices, so I got the Green Boost: green apples, celery, kale, cucumber, ginger and lime. But they also have sweet juices, too. Have you ever drank (drunk?) something and felt like the cells of your body were being filled up with nutrients as you consumed it? No? Just me? Well, that's what it felt like drinking this juice! My black coffee was great too, but it was overshadowed by the avocado toast and juice. But it was hot and black and caffeinated, so it did its job. Kanela has a lot of things to drink -- coffee drinks, smoothies, juices, frappes, energy drinks -- and a few things to eat for breakfast and lunch, including the aforementioned avocado toast, but also a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, wraps and panini. Actually, just one choice of wrap and panini. Beverages are the star here, really. read more

Cute little coffee shop. The muffin was delicious and they warmed it up. We also had the Sugar and Spice Chai and Lavender Kiss Iced Macchiato. The only thing was the macchiato didn't come iced without specifying, but it was a cold day so it worked out. read more

5/3/24, I joined my husbands' friends' wives for a speedy breakfast before a wedding later today. Some of us opted for the waffle biscuit, intrigued by its uniqueness on the menu. I added some hot sauce for extra flavor. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The ambiance was unique, somewhat quiet and spacious. The food was delicious and fulfilling. Had a great coffee ($6.50) and an okay muffin ($5). Tax and tip came to about $15. Two days later I'm entering my expenses and I'm surprised to see a 2% credit card fee. If it'd been clearly disclosed I might be less angry. This is the cost of doing business. Honestly if you'd put it into the price I wouldn't be mad, but adding in a nonsense surcharge puts you on my "never again" list. Enjoy your 23 cents. I'll buy my coffee elsewhere. read more

Stopped by for a couple breakfast sandwiches and a smoothie to-go. Vegan breakfast sandwiches were pretty good, come on a bagel. Our son enjoyed the berry smoothie. Though I was just picking up an order, this place has plenty of character. Would stop back if in the area. read more

A really cute addition to the downtown FW coffee scene! Ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was great! And a chocolate chip cookie. The pastries are not made in house but the cookie was delicious. Really cute space + they have wifi! Street parking only. They have a pretty big food/drink menu, so we will definitely be back. read more

Kanela is a super cozy shop located right off the landing in downtown Fort Wayne. Lots of space to work, however the shop is small so you might be working next someone depending on when you go. The workers are externally friendly and will help you with anything you need. The coffee is good but a little on the sweet side for me personally. I recommend you give this shop a go! read more

- Avocado bagel was delicious! I loved the mixture of cream cheese and avocado. I normally wouldn't put those two together but it worked. The sprinkle of cayenne pepper and the Asiago bag made it even better! I wish going in I knew what was on it. The menu is vague and I assumed it was just a bagel with Asiago. Luckily I had no major allergies and like cream cheese! 4/5 - my coffee was good but I wasn't blown away by the quality. I could barely taste the dulce de leche. There was not enough oat milk. So it was like straight espresso. Tastes more like an americano than a latte. 4/5 - the inside, or the ambiance, was industrial and beautiful! It reminded me of a mixture of Gossip Girl, Friends and Gilmore Girls. I loved how there was plenty of seating so you don't have to worry if you meet a friend. They also had outside space which was nice! 5/5 - the person at the register seemed confused when I signed up for their rewards program. The other person who helped her was not friendly and also didn't seem to know what was going on. So that was confusing. The people were nice though and friendly. 5/5 OH! Parking is rough because it is downtown. I parked two blocks away at a meter and walked. Make sure to pay for AT LEAST 30 minutes. read more

I stopped in really fast to waste time on the $5 parking that I purchased. I was excited to pop in, bc I Utopian coffee was closed (they close at 4 PM on Tuesdays just in case you wanted to know :) Kanela is the cutest little place. I love the front of the corner store front. It's so sweet and inviting. I wanted to try a vanilla chai tea, since this is my most favorite drink. I love trying vanilla chai with a shot of espresso wherever I go. Dirty chai, good morning chai, whatever you want to refer to it as. Its not the best I've ever had, but I do like it. I didn't catch the gals name who took my order, but she was wonderful and very kind. It's a cute little space and they have rewards. $1 off your first coffee. Check it out. Kanela is a super cute smoothie shop and café in downtown Fort Wayne. From the tile on the floor to the lighting, Kanela's décor is trendy and inviting. It's good for working as there are a few small tables, some comfy chairs, counter seating, a couch, and a larger table for groups. The wifi is free and works well. There is metered street parking nearby if you're not in walking distance. It's also across the street from The Landing, making it a great place to stop in and get a coffee before visiting other shops nearby. My favorite smoothie is the Strawberry Slam, which has strawberries, bananas, and vanilla whey protein. There are so many options for breakfast and lunch that there is something here for everyone. There are weekly food specials if you're looking to try something new. There is even a kids' menu. read more

Love this cute, new coffee shop over on the Landing. I was visiting town and got breakfast here with a girlfriend. I loved the atmosphere and decor of the place. Very cute and cozy!!! The staff was friendly as well. Their menu was impressive. So many healthy drink options it was hard to choose! I ended up getting the Sweet and Green juice and a breakfast burrito. I wasn't too impressed by the burrito but the juice was delish! Next time I would want to try a vanilla chai tea or a smoothie. The baked good and croissants were also intriguing...but next time! They had cozy seating options as well as bar-top and table seating throughout the building. We came before rush on a Saturday at 9:30 am and sat in a cozy L-shaped couch area. It filled up quick! As a self-proclaimed coffee snob, let me just start by saying that this is the best espresso I've had so far in Fort Wayne! The vanilla latte was amazing. The baristas are obviously experienced, and the rich, chocolatey espresso they serve up here makes for an amazing latte. The views outside of the windows, especially on a rainy day, are unmatched. While the coffee alone is deserving of 5 stars, the only downside is that the shop is a little small, and it's not quite the vibe where I could go sit there and work all day. But, to just pop in for a latte and a slice of their sour cream cinnamon pound cake would certainly be a delightful experience! read more

Loved this place. Friendly environment and welcomed/greeted as we entered the bright yellow door. The offerings were vast and there is something for all eaters (vegan options too). Many tables to work at and comfortable seating for visiting. I really liked this option. I got a fabulous vegan chocolate peanut butter tart and smoothie. Coffee was really well presented and in a real cup. I'll be visiting many times. I ordered the drink your vegetables smoothie: it wasn't too green, well balanced flavors and not too sweet. Love this new café! SUCH a cute interior and amazing menu offerings. I recommend the "flora latte" - it's lavender flavored, but not too strongly floral! The coffee shop has a nice vibe, atmosphere, but their baristas need more practice on making coffee. My first order was a decaf latte, that tasted like steamed milk. I returned it only to receive a horribly tasting coffee with no latte' flavor. Horrible taste. Their baristas always seem to be having fun whilst not paying attention to their customers. read more
