Simply an amazing and beautiful day on Kaneohe Bay! Scheduling was easy via phone and email with Kyle. Met him at the harbor- he helped us load the boat with all our stuff bentos, wine, towels, snacks, purses, snorkel gear. Turns out, he had a cooler full of water and juice and snorkel gear for us. Such a laid back, friendly and knowledgeable guy, Kyle made us feel like we were just a bunch of friends hanging out on his boat for the day. Was gift for my mom when she was visiting from NJ. She loved it. Saw coconut island with hundreds of fish, then walked around sandbar, then saw about 20 turtles maybe more and then lunch stop at secret beach (or was it called island) and then past china mans hat. Very special excursion, away from tourists, and I plan on recommending this to all my mainland guests. Made me wish I had a boat but then again I don't know the first thing about maintenance, rules on boating (is that a verb) etc. will just have to make sure to become a regular patron of this business. read more

Excellent trip. Need to try and book ahead if possible since it is not everyday. Go see the amazing sandbar and shoreline with an experienced guide who grew up there and loves it. Kyle is a great guy. We had booked a trip with him (all done over a couple of emails) but when we met up there was a high surf advisory and he said it may not be a good idea to go out. Very honest guy who cared about safety instead of making a few bucks. He also recommended a few other places to see since we had a few hours free at that point. Kyle was great!!! I felt a lot better knowing he is also HFD and does rescues as well. (I'm afraid of the ocean.) He took us out on a private charter for my fiance's birthday and wedding gift from me. We went to this spot where there were so many turtles around the boat! My fiance wanted to jump in but he gently said it wouldn't be a good idea as there are tiger sharks in that area. So we stayed on the boat. We went back to the sandbar after lunch for the second time and had a blast. Kyle gave us some snacks and some li-hing oranges and apples which hit the spot after being in the water. I took my son, his girlfriend and two of his friends for a day on the bay. We did a little trolling, caught some dinner then hung out at the sandbar for snacks and drinks that we bought along with us. The water at the sandbar was crystal clear and the sand silky smooth. Words cannot describe the views from the bay and sandbar. Some of the most beautiful scenery there is on the Windward side of Oahu. You have to see it for yourself! Kyle took my daughter and I on an absolutely wonderful tour of Kaneohe Bay. We exchanged texts and emails prior to our adventure and asked to fish and snorkel. We caught fish, We saw loads of sea turtles. We snorkeled and saw lots of beautiful fish. Kyle told us about growing up on Kanehoe bay and showed us fish ponds, movie settings and more. My in-laws were visiting and Captain Kyle was flexible with setting up and changing our date and time. The bay was beautiful and it was fun for my 2 keiki (children) to count turtles and run along the sandbar. My little ones (and me!) were gratefull that he brought extra snacks and water. The snorkeling was fun too and it was nice to see such healthy coral. I appreciated the warmth, concern, and accomodations he made for my in-laws - showing his aloha spirit! My mom-in-law isn't a swimmer and had some hesitation on land, but she immediately felt comfortable with Captain Kyle and the boat. It was great family fun and a refreshing way to view and appreciate both the aina (land) and kai (ocean). It was also nice to visit the fishpond and secret beach. My family and I wanted to go to the Sandbar, but we didn't/couldn't kayak out there. So we found Kyle! He was super helpful and accommodating. Pros: - took us to different parts of the island/Kaneohe Bay - saw over 10 sea turtles - went to secret beach - saw some fish and the opening scene to Gilligan's Island - he had some drinks and fruit for us Cons: - he can only take about 6 adults - we made our reservation so last minute, but will definitely call earlier for our next trip! read more

Don't waste your time booking. I booked over a month in advanced and planned our trip around his availability. Two days before he cancelled because his boat was in the shop. I don't understand how you wouldn't get your boat maintenance prior to Memorial Day weekend. Real disappointment and poor customer service. I have now used Captain Kyle several times since our first excursion! He is extremely nice and everyone that I have referred him to thinks he's great! He knows where to go so that one can see the beautiful turtles and he takes you on an adventure. The best part is that his tours are personal! He can fit up to 6 people and that so great because then you're not stuck on one of those HUGE tourist traps being treated like cattle! He is very friendly and very generous! He even has a cooler with water for you! I have no problem referring Captain Kyle and do so as often as I can. I will continue to use his services for myself, my family, my friends, and anyone else that wants to enjoy the sandbar without the masses!! No phone call reply. No email reply. Maybe he's doing great and doesn't need new customers. Should have some business ethics or simple courtesy to return a phone call or email. Kyle was very accommodating and we were able to choose exactly what we wanted to do. We went to the sandbar, secret beach, The Chinaman's hat, and much more. Captain Kyle took us to the fish farm where he used to camped there with his peers many years ago......who would have thought there is a seluded beach with white sand just round the corner....just like the exact spot in Pirate of the Caribbean where Captain Jack Sparrow was deserted. Everything about this charter is excellent. It was easy to schedule, and Kyle responded quickly to any emails. The charter is perfect for a small group. Kyle will take you to all the best parts of the Bay and make sure you have a great time. The boat is very comfortable and Kyle is an outstanding captain. I get sea sick easily, but I had no problems on this trip. The Bay is generally calm, but even when it is choppy, it does not have the big wave motion that can be a problem on the ocean. We had a perfect day in Kaneohe Bay thanks to Captain Kyle. We started the day on the 3 mile wide sandbar. It was crazy to go out from shore and be able to walk around in the middle of the bay. Next, my parents wanted to see some turtles and of course Cpt Kyle knew exactly where they were. We saw at least 20 surrounding our boat within 10 minutes. We then went over to a private beach where Kyle and his cousins would hang out when they were children. All along the way, Kyle shared some great stories with us about growing up in Hawaii. This was such a refreshing thing to do in Oahu away from all the crowds at Wakiki. Captain Kyle grew up in this area so it was awesome to get a locals view. The BEST experience I had on my recent trip to Oahu...one of my favorite experiences in Hawaii EVER! Kudos to Kyle for being so friendly, accomodating, knowledgeable, and full of the spirit of aloha! Sounds like we went to the same places as some of the other reviewers...but my favorite, by far was just stopping at the sandbar and wading around. A surreal experience surrounded by absolutely stunning scenery. We also trolled for fish, and while we didn't catch any, the prospect of hooking something on the line was fun in and of itself. Saw lots of turtles, had lots of great conversation with Kyle- like hanging out with a friend of the family. My only regret was that we didn't take Kyle's advice and snorkel off the shore when we stopped at Coconut Island- I didn't realize how crystal clear the water was until I came home and looked at the pictures I took of the water from shore and you could actually SEE the colorful coral and fish through the water! One thing is for sure- I'll never go back to Oahu without booking some time with Captain Kyle out on Kaneohe Bay. Our family of four spent a good part of the day with Kyle and we all felt that it was one of the best things we had done on our entire trip. Words can not really describe the incredible beauty of this entire area (up near where a good part of LOST is filmed), and the sandbar in particular. We brought our beach toys and had some fun throwing the football around in what felt like the middle of the ocean - surreal. The sandbar is huge, you can literally go for a thirty minute walk while the scenery will take your breath away. There are not all that many ways for tourists to get out to the sandbar (locals seem to go there with their own private boats - esp on weekends), so we were really lucky to find someone like Kyle from here on Yelp. We had looked into to trying to kayak out there but found that was not easy to coordinate as no rental shops in that particular area and we also came to see that it would have been a pretty long paddle out and back for us into some head wind.. He has a great 17' Boston Whaler which was perfect for our family. It had a Bimini cover for shade and a power 70HP outboard motor which made zipping around the bay quick and easy. He took us to this great snorkel spot where we were lucky to see a number of giant sea turtles and a special somewhat private beach with awesome scenery. He was super personable and friendly and got along great with our two kids. He is informative about the area as he was born there. He also works in fire and rescue so he was very conscientious of our safety. One little thing to keep in mind is the weather which seems to change quite quickly in this area where the ocean and bay meet the tall mountains. We had a day that remained mostly sunny which made the trip all that much better but one can never know, and even during the same morning or afternoon one may experience sun and rain within minutes of each other. As I said at the onset, this was one of the best little adventures we have done. We have been to Hawaii twice now with our kids and have spent time on all four islands doing many activities and adventures. Oahu is our favorite and an activity like this helps to make it so. We are already thinking about our next trip to Hawaii and would certainly do this again. read more
