You won't find a more entertaining guide with solid knowledge of fishing. So they say Hawaii Bonefish don't exist? Oh they do brothers! Capt Mike is a wealth of information on technique, real life, and connections with the rest of fishy-Hawaii and elsewhere! I couldn't recommend highly enough (but that's what the five stars are for). Our group of three were very excited about our first bone fishing outing and contacted Rick way in advance of our trip to Oahu. We found Rick's integrity extremely disappointing, especially in light of his "years of experience". We mapped out our trip with him by phone including promises for a response to confirm our plans. We received no returned call, even after we took the initiative to reach out. Finally in response to an email inquiry, we learned, one week before our arrival, that Rick chose to go to BC on another trip. With no back-up plan for flaky guide behavior, no guides were available who could take us out on the water. Shame on Rick.

After reading about them having "Ahi Assassins" poke, I decided to go back for lunch today. I phone ordered, and decided on the Mahi nuggets, mochiko chicken, and a cheeseburger. My total today was $30, which I felt was a bit much, for the food quality. The cheeseburger was way too salty. The Mahi nuggets were interesting, not the best fish for what they were trying to accomplish... or it was leftover pieces, who knows. The mochiko chicken was decent, but I've had better. There was no poke, today. The deli recently opened for food service, so I'm hoping the food taste and quality will improve.

But don't tell everyone because then it won't be a secret no more. There's nothing like coming here on a Sunday morning with your beach chair to relax. I must have dozed off many times by the breezy trade wind and overcast weather at the open sea. You wonder why we don't do this often but get soaked into technology including myself. Anyways, you get a nice view of Ko`olau mountains and Chinaman's hat even though it's still far away. There's public restrooms that's fairly decent. Free parking is available but by noon it fills up on the pier side. There's more parking on the harbor side but I'm not sure if you can park there.

As first-time snorkelers traveling with a child, our experience did not align with those expectations. Equipment distribution was poorly handled. Masks were handed out with little to no instruction, and basic questions were met with a rude and dismissive attitude. Overall communication and service were lacking. Once in the water, guidance was minimal and inconsistent. The experience felt rushed and disorganized, with limited support for guests who were new to snorkeling. The tone and treatment we received also made us uncomfortable as Asian guests. After sharing feedback, the company clarified in writing that they do NOT advertise or position this as a beginner-friendly snorkeling tour. Based on both that clarification and our experience, I would strongly recommend that beginners or families looking for clear instruction and attentive guidance consider other operators. Sharing this to help future guests set accurate expectations before booking.

This is an all inclusive sailing snorkeling, and lunch event with amazing staff. You can be picked up at your hotel if you are in Waikiki or drive out to the pier. Recommend you get there a little early as parking can be limited as the day gets busier. Luckily, we came on a day where it was about half the normal capacity so we had room to spread out on the ship. The staff gave a very entertaining intro and safety brief. First stop was the sandbar. They provide his struggles and beach volleyball. We opted to just snorkel around the sandbar. Such a cool feeling to be out in the middle of the ocean and standing with water only as high as your knees. After spending time there, we started our way to a coral reef, but on the way we got to see a bunch of green sea turtles swimming next to us. What a cool opportunity! Probably my favorite part was the coral reef that we visited next. The water was so clear and blue and there were so many tropical fish swimming around the reef. I even captured a sighting of a reef tip shark on my underwater camera. Don't worry, they are harmless. Captain Maka was an amazing host. He was so patient with my kid and took time to show him the ropes and let him hang out with him on the bridge as he was navigating to each spot. The crew makes lunch. They literally barbecue hamburgers on the ship as you are out having fun snorkeling. And by the time you get back on board, the food is all cooked and you get to enjoy an amazingly delicious lunch on the ship as it made it its way to the next spot. Can't say enough about this excursion. The crew makes it so amazing. We will definitely come back and do this tour again as it was so much fun.

Even with gloomy skies, and predicted rain, we all enjoyed ourselves. The crew was amazing and definitely made a difference in the experience. Our captain Maka made us all feel right at home instantly and felt as if we were all old friends. Julia, Akiko and Cody were so hospitable and friendly and made the experience so enjoyable. We were even able to recruit Cody to play volleyball with us! They keep the itinerary booked from cruising out to the sandbar, to playing volleyball, having a freshly prepared lunch onboard, to snorkeling out in the reef, having a hot cocoa break, and seeing the surrounding sites. It was so fun! And ofc you cannot beat the views in Kaneohe Bay! the KoOlaus are my fave and to see them from the water is even more breathtaking. The communication was top tier from the welcome orientation to giving us instructions and information on the sandbar and also snorkeling. Julia was always great with giving us info. We appreciated the lifeguard signals for while out on the reef too. The vessel is clean and well maintained. The bathroom onboard is cleaner than the ones at the dock too. Spacious for everyone to move about and gather. They have their own private area in the sandbar so there is no competition with other tour companies. We were able to coordinate roundtrip hotel pickup to/from Waikiki also which made it seamless. Pick up both ways was prompt and in a sizeable air conditioned coach. 10/10 experience that I'm so glad I finally checked off the list, and would do again with Captain Bob's.

I've been dropping by every time we're back on the islands for over 20 years, and it's still the first stop off the plane. I will say though, service can be a little rough sometimes. Some days are good, some days not so much. But honestly, that's never been the point of this place. You're not coming here for some polished haole sales pitch of some sort, you're coming because these guys know what they're doing and they'll get you what you need so you can get back in the water. And that's where they really shine. Need a j tube? They've got it. Need a new band? They can fab it up in like 5 minutes so you can still make it to the spot on time. They almost always have exactly what I need in stock and at a fair price. You'll see some of the best divers in the islands and honestly, some of the best in the world just casually stopping in. The shirts and designs are also totally underrated. They've got their own local style and I've of course picked up a few over the years and they hold up good. Hanapa'a is one of those rare functional places you can always rely on. it's rooted in the community, and it delivers when it counts. If you dive, you already know. We brought our own lawn chairs from our hotel. But plenty of people brought their own umbrellas, tents, and other beach fun items.
