Kane's Donuts is changing the gluten free donut game! We had heard amazing things about the gluten free donuts at Kane's and went in with high expectations. Not only did these donuts meet these expectations, they exceeded them! We ordered 4 gluten free donuts to try to get a good feel for the flavor offerings: chocolate, old fashioned, lemon poppyseed, and apple cider. All were excellent, but lemon poppyseed was hands down my favorite. Moist and crispy at the same time, this donut was a perfect balance of tart and sweet. The others were excellent as well, we even took the apple cider donut home and turned it into an apple cider donut sundae with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It was amazing. Overall, this was a great experience and we will happily return again. I've been told that we missed out by not trying the gluten free cinnamon sugar donut, so that's next on my list! read more

The honey dip is so good, sweet and light, a must have if you go. If you want to go up several notches in a sweet treat, the frosted donuts are all that. For a chocolate craving, the glazed chocolate cake donut is deeply satisfying. Also their ice coffee is delicious and the hot is tasty too. Service is great, you can choose a dozen donuts and they put it together and package it nice for the ride. So delicious! I found out about Kane's just a couple of weeks ago and I have been 3 times already! They have all sorts of flavors from honey dipped all the way to snickers or maple bacon (and everything in between). The donuts are large and handmade! My favorites so far have been the honey dipped and the chocolate frosted. I have also had the blueberry, chocolate glazed, butternut, jelly, snickers and maple bacon (I have an apple fritter waiting for me at home...). Yummmmm!!! I have only been to the Saugus location, so I'm not sure what they charge in Boston or the pop-up Chestnut Hill locations. In Saugus, donuts are $2 each. I've seen other reviews where people have complained about this price. Yes, $24 for a dozen donuts does seem pricey, but these are handmade, large, gourmet donuts! This is not Dunkin so please don't compare. People will pay $8 for a slice of cheesecake at a restaurant, but don't want to pay $2 for a gourmet donut? I don't get it. It is totally worth it to me. Kane's is arguably one of the best donut chains Massachusetts has to offer. These donuts are amazing. They come in a variety of flavors and have cake donuts as well. My personal favorite is the blueberry Maine, it's like a better sugary version of a blueberry muffin. You can never go wrong with a honey dipped glaze if you want to stay on the safe side. I recommend trying their monthly seasonal donuts listed on their website, especially because of all the fall flavors! Have your order ready when you get to the front of the line because it moves quick! It can get crowded in the morning but you can order on line to avoid that! I love this place, great donut selections, decent coffee, decent customer service. I love the size of the ice coffees. Huge. The donuts here are fluffy, delicious , and addictive. The interior is nice and slightly old fashion, but kept up to date. I feel like the older folks usually sit and hang out here and the younger crowds would come order their stuff and go. I'm sad that the pistachio donuts are limited time only because they are my favorite, and it's a must try. I asked for it once, I believe they said they make it around March. During our latest visit to Kanes Donuts, my husband and I discovered Kanes Gluten Free Donuts. Neither of us is truly gluten Free but these looked so good they were making my mouth water. When I finally got a chance to bite into my GF honey dipped glazed it melted inside my mouth (This donut was made perfectly the perfect balance of sweet and cakey goodness. If your new to the North shore and craving a sweet treat Kanes is always a good idea! Not sure when they incorporated the GF donuts to the menu but I feel a little less guilty going here more often. My Husband has a mean sweet tooth so when we go here he's literally in heaven. I appreciate Kanes Classics/ simpler donuts. The regular Honey dipped glazed that they make here is tried and true. The coconut donut and cookies and Cream were the other Two donuts we walked out with. My husband Philip enjoyed the rich Chocolate taste of the cookies and cream. This donut is kind of sugar overload in my opinion but he was in love!! You'll find some of the best donuts in eastern Mass at Kane's. I compare them to Voodoo Donuts, they're that good. This location in Saugus on Lincoln Ave is a cute little shop. The handful of times I've been here the service is fast and the line moves quickly. There's a few tables to sit at but the vast majority of people get their donuts to go. I like heading to this location because they have an actual parking lot and the traffic isn't bad near the store. They allow you to pick with ease and honestly the size of the donut equals 2 regular sized donuts ($3 a donut). Prices are fair and the line is super quick. Also for coffee they aint bad either. Ok back down to a 3... So from the past reviews you can see my years of Loving Kane's and being the place to go... So recently Kane's was profiled on a few shows and has also been expanding as of the past few years & gaining much popularity (THEY DESERVE IT, Rightfully so) And we have this little thing that just happened here in New England. The Super Bowl... So knowing we had to party like every year, I was in charge of the Donuts, so with all the craziness & hype lately I saw a post from Kane's on the book of faces that stated to ORDER AHEAD, So I did that and donuts that they normally have all the time with changes are now only monthly so I asked and was told "Ooh No, we can make you those - the Snickers, thats really all I was pre-ordering for" Its the BF's fave (as noted in other reviews) and he needed to have one - gets them for Every Big Sports thing (whatever its superstition). So I called placed my order, was charged right away mind you... Then Sunday comes and I go to Kane's... and grab my stuff and walk out (as they said NO LINE, NO WAIT, I was able to cut & walk right to front which helped, because the line was out the door) And I notice on the note (see my pics) that It says No Snickers or Reese's, needs others donuts. So I go back & and am told "Ooh we ran out" WEEELLLLLLL Wasn't that the point of me PRE ORDERING?! She said next time you need to call to confirm... so I need to Pre-order, my Pre-order?? Is that what you are telling me?? How can I confirm, I PLACED AN ORDER!!! So I need to call every day to remind them that I placed an order?!?! ... Had it been any other day & any other donut this would have been NO BIG DEAL.. But now the entire party was convinced we lost the Super Bowl because every year we have Snickers Donuts & this year was the exception. Im not so on board with the Superbowl loss theory, Im more mad at the whole event that transpired, and if these were $1 donuts so what right, but no. Okay I remember when Kane's donuts had the biggest and best tasting donuts around ,they made number 2 all over the country in one of those food Network shows. I agreed with them they were fantastic, but things have changed have two new locations. I remember one of the owners on TV showing how they made their glazed donuts better known around Massachusetts they dip them cover the whole thing with glaze top to bottom but not anymore they pour the glaze on top now so the bottom is completely naked as you'll see in the photos I post with this article donuts at $3 a piece and I got a milk with it the whole thing came for two donuts in a glass of milk $9.10 when will the price the coconut donut I got was fantastic I all the donuts at fantastic except the Honey dip they've ruined it by only pouring it on the top it's not as big as it used to be either. Really fresh donuts. Looks like they're baked on site! To my surprise, their breakfast food is really good. Great flavor and size. Croissants are flaky and buttery. I wanted to wait to eat it after I got home but I ate most of it in their parking lot lol. Staff here is nice and came across as really appreciative of business during these Covid times. Make sure to say your order clearly and loudly especially since people are further away and because also you're wearing a mask. I'd give it a higher rating but there were some glaring downsides to my order. 1. Breakfast burrito had a big hole in it and leaked out of the wrapping. Just remake next time. 2. Apple fritter is huge, but also raw on the inside. Center was sticky, stringy and mushy. Not cooked at all and probably not good to eat. I ate around the raw center and the flavor and sweetness was spot on so at least it was tasty. Recommend making these flatter or something so that they cook through. My favorite donuts here are the chocolate cake donut honey dip and the Boston creme. Really good to see the Boston creme is filled up thoroughly so every bite has filling. I was gonna get the coffee roll too but the real size is way bigger than the one in pictures. So I got the apple crunch, pumpkin, pistachio, honey dipped,honey jelly and the cider donut . For some reason one of the donuts taste like coconut ; they probably got a wrong one for me. Overall, they were good but nothing super special. I expected a WOW based on the reviews on yelp.
