But we turned the corner onto Central and were overjoyed to see McCant's. We couldn't tell if it was open from the street but we pressed our luck, parking and walking about a block. They were open! Yay! You can order at a kiosk/screen. Our group each went with a different dog, our group ending up with a Memphis, a Slaw Dog, and a New Yorker. We shared an order of fries. The food was ready quickly and as the food got off the folks behind the counter made sure everything looked good to us (it did!). My Mom gave her New Yorker 5 stars. Great flavor with the sauerkraut and onion sauce. My Aunt gave her Slaw Dog 4.75 stars. Tons of cole slaw (maybe a touch too much). I'd give my Memphis Dog 3.75. The McCants chili is pretty loose, liquidy and there is plenty of it on this top (maybe a touch too much). I didn't think the bun stood a chance against all the liquid toppings but, with some delicate handling, it made it through the whole eating experience. Phew. It was good but I think the chili really dominated the other toppings. The fries were great. Really well-seasoned. The folks behind the counter made sure we had a tasty experience as we left.
