This was an amazing and thrilling place to be! My fiancé and I got free tickets from the VA to go to a NASCAR race and we were so excited as both of us have never been! Phew was it loud! It was the kind of loud that got you off your feet and cheering though. The whole place was lively. Bathrooms were very clean and the stadium was huge! Loved that they had games like corn-hole and they even had a cool status to pose with! Only downside is how expensive food and drinks are. read more

Race days at Kansas Speedway used to be a hot ticket. They were loud, boisterous, raucous and thrilling - an all day affair that was basically, a huge party. Race day is still fun, though it's not like it used to be. Let's just say, if you don't take care of yourself like you should, age can catch up to you. Two things stood out during a recent visit: Concessions and staffing. Concessions are still available, but they haven't kept up with the times. They're the same frozen then fried options that have been there since the beginning, only without anybody to serve them. We stood in line for almost forty five minutes and found out most of our choice were sold out, and the race wasn't even half over. We thought about trying another stand, but half of them were closed and the lines were long. I hope the venue acknowledges and addresses its race day experience. When everything is running well, it's one of the best things in sports. read more

Went here for a grand VIP tour on Nascar AdventHealth 400 Cup Series for the first time. Never been a fan of Nascar because I honestly don't know anything about it or been to a race before. Race day is so much, can be overwhelming with a big crowd. It's like a big party with cars and merch. They also have other things to do like pickleball if you have time to play, watch toys race, check out other cars/trucks in the fan area. We went during a rain, so best believe everyone is trying to stay dry. They also have truck to blow dry their own track so it can be safe for everyone. The Garage tour was so fun and a must do. It's great for first timers like myself. We got to tour the garage area where you get to see all the cars that are racing. You get to see the pit crew do their job and make sure it's good. Also, got a chance to meet a real live racer Alex Bowman, it was surreal. He even autograph some items for us. So cool. This race, I saw a bunch of cars crashing and it was amazing. WHY NO RIDE SHARE DROP OFF?!! Came here in an Uber for the American Royal bbq. The parking line is ridiculous. Sooo many employees assisting with parking yet it took FOREVER to park. Again, WHERE IS THE RIDE SHARE DROP OFF? Our Uber driver continuously had to shout at parking attendants "Where is ride share drop off?" They told her to just keep following the parking traffic. Not one single sign for drop off! We had to pay $20 (regular price to park) to get dropped off or walk a mile! Absolutely ridiculous but we had to pay since one of our group recently had a broken leg just healed. Still not one sign for drop off. She ended up basically parking in the lot and we got out and still had to walk a long ways to get in! Sooo bad! Once inside we all had to hit the bathrooms since it took so long to get dropped off! The bathrooms are so gross and dirty. The pipes are rusting and the stall doors are broken. TP just thrown on the floor in a bulk bag (grab your own roll)! So dirty and so cheap. You can tell no money is spent on improvements, including parking! Bad bad bad. American Royal needs to reconsider this venue and head back to the west bottoms where it belongs! read more

I can't believe I had never been to a nascar race.... It was awesome!! I can't wait to make more memories at Kansas Speedway. As for the actual business, I don't have anything bad to say! They had plenty of people helping us find parking & the facilities were clean. While there were a lot of the bars and restaurants, they weren't all open, & at one point we waited a ridiculously long amount of time at one of them for just a couple mixed drinks. Season tickets. Awesome time, love the whole experience. Beware it's addictive. Season tickets are the only way to go. Four inaugural events in two years, how can you beat that. First time events only HAPPEN ONCE and we've seen four in only two years. I'm hocked. Don't wait in line on I -70, come on to 435 an come down State Ave right to the parking lots. Great day at the race. Only set back was no traffic director post race. It took us 1.5 hours to get out.

The all volunteer security staff in the campground area and at the gates made up of teens from a baseball team left a lot to be desired. For many of them it was there first time working the venue and had no clue as to what their job consists of. It wasn't a problem when it came to the events because that was where many of the more veteran workers were stationed at the track. As to the "Fan friendly track experience" label they try to adhere to isn't all it's cracked up to be when the trams aren't stopping where they are supposed to and the people running those had no idea as to where they are supposed to drop off. I also had problems with rude and inpatient vendors worrying about getting your sale and getting you out the door. It wasn't all bad. There were many friendly people and the racing was exciting. But the 'Frindly experience ' I was expecting was lacking to say the least read more

Feels bad to leave a review about a race track being used for something else, but that's what this is. Went to the American Royal BBQ here and I thought it was perfectly fine. There's more than enough room on the in-field for all the BBQ shenanigans. The only things that could've been better? They really needed more than 2 ticket windows going to get people in...it was nearly a half hour wait just to get a ticket. And the concourse restrooms should have been open as well instead of having a ridiculous number of foul smelling port-o-potties...nothing to stoke your anticipation for food like foul smells :-/. That being said, I'd imagine it's fun to watch a race here, just not my thing personally. And it's a good venue for the Royal since there's ample room and parking. read more

The Speedway, ad nauseum, calls itself "The Best Guest Experience in Motorsports." It's been open for ten years now and has steadily gotten better, to the point that such a bold statement has some validity. I'm going to base this review solely on the things the Speedway can directly control, so the races themselves aren't a factor in my rating. That's a good thing, since the last few races I've been to haven't been great. The area where KS Speedway is located was mostly an empty field before 2001 (though some people were moved via eminent domain - thanks for the reminder Katie B.) and the entire area was purpose-built to host races and an entertainment area for families...and it shows. Gina R (another reviewer) complained about having to walk a long way to park but I would like to know another place where you can bring 80,000+ people and ensure a short walk. The parking lot is a massive grass field so if there's been rain, it can be a bit muddy, of course. But it's well-organized and easy to get into and out of. I was at the 5/1 and 5/2 races this year and literally got in and out of the parking lot and back on the highway in less than 10 minutes. Try doing that at Arrowhead. Parking is free, unlike the $8 fee at the K and $24 at Arrowhead. The seating is not any different than most racetracks - bleachers. There's decent space in front of you though, and tons of space under you for storing bags, coats, etc. Towards the middle, there are seats with backs and armrests. Those seats also come with the privilege of waiter service for a limited menu of food/drinks. The majority of seats are the bleachers though, which is fine. If you're a racetrack veteran like me, you'll be surprised and annoyed that you cannot bring a backpack in unless it's clear. I'm used to bringing a jacket, umbrella, sunscreen, etc. in a bag and was forced to walk back to my car with it. Don't bring umbrellas either; you'll be forced to leave them outside or take it back to your car. The food selection at the Speedway is pretty fantastic - there's everything from traditional ballpark food, to Mexican, to BBQ, and more. Every 10 or 15 feet, there's another food or drink stand, so it's easy to get food quickly. The prices are fair for a sports venue too - definitely less expensive than Arrowhead or the K. Where Kansas Speedway really shines is the rule they started a couple years ago letting you bring in a 6x6x12 soft-sided cooler with food/drinks in it. They gave up a tremendous amount of revenue to do that, with the hope that more people will come to the races. I was able to bring two 20 oz. bottles of soda, two sandwiches, a bag of chips and some fruit with me - I would have spent $30-40 on that from the concession stand, and I really appreciate the Speedway offering that to its patrons. Hell will freeze long before the Chiefs discount anything to anyone. So far, sadly, it doesn't appear to be working. The IndyCar race on 5/1 was maybe 35-40% full, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on 5/2, maybe 50%. The crowd for the Nationwide/Sprint Cup races in the fall is still big, but the other race weekends are suffering. If you're a casual fan, not sure of what a race is like, give the Speedway a shot. Tickets are less than $50 and can be had for a lot less than that on Craigslist or other online spots. Cheap tickets + Free Parking + Bring Your Own Food = a great sports deal. I haven't even mentioned everything else just east of the Speedway in Village West - hundreds of restaurants, shops, outlet stores, the massive Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cabela's stores, Great Wolf Lodge and more. Don't worry about filling up a weekend here - it's easy. read more

Kansas is the latest speedway I have checked off my list. I attended the Chase race in October with 3 of my girls for a fun NASCAR girls experience. If you have never been to a NASCAR race and you live in KC, shame on you. You have a nice track right here and it has a casino connected to it so you can let the traffic die down while you gamble! Who doesn't love this? We walked from our hotel which was a looooong walk, especially because the parking lot had a fence around it so you couldn't cut through on foot. That was kind of annoying, but...just know...you can go over or under the fence in spots. Haulers with merch were all here so walk around before the race to buy your driver's merchandise and also visit sponsor booths and such. Be sure to bring a cooler (check the size online for exact measurements) because, just like the other tracks, you can bring in your own food and beverages if you desire. I don't know about food, but I always desire bringing in beer! I also brought a tote bag with my headphones/scanner/batteries/sunscreen in it. It was not clear...I think that is only for backpacks or something. But my friend had a backpack cooler and that also wasn't a problem. You cannot bring in weapons so leave your gun and knife at home. You can not bring in an umbrella because who the hell wants to get poked in the eye by your umbrella. Bring a poncho in case of rain....standard track procedure. Bring your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen if it is going to be really sunny. Pre-race concert and activities were fine although the entire thing seemed more subdued than other tracks. The camp sites seemed subdued (thanks to an inadvertent ride through there), the crowd at the race was more subdued, it was just a little more low key than say Texas or Bristol or Talladega. But the race was excellent. Tip: sit high enough up to see the entire track because you don't want to miss the action on the back stretch. We sat in row 23 right behind the flag stand and could see pretty much everything. Maybe a couple more rows up and you could see almost down to the back stretch wall. If those are too pricy, they have ticket specials at many different price points. DEFINITELY will be back to Kansas Speedway. I'll do a better job bringing the rowdiness next time! read more

Absolutely friggin sick experience. Went here earlier this spring for the Indy 300 race and absolutely had a BLAST. Concessions were reasonable considering the burgers tasted really good and they didn't charge you some uber stupid price for them. The seating areas (although being bleachers) were not too bad at all. Great place to catch a race. If you aren't into racing, give the Indy races a shot first and then graduate onto NASCAR (The crowds are a little more hostile and wasted if you know what I mean) read more

Sit in the stands with about 100,000 people and feel the ribs in your chest rumble as 40 cars speed past you at 200 miles per hour. You can be an urbane sophisticate and still enjoy the raw primal feelings that car racing inspires :-) read more

Been here many times and have never been disappointed. Great seating, great pricing, and you must love the BYOB. I don't recommend their funnel cakes (not carnival style but I'm just very picky about them) but I will continue to go to events here. read more

What I am basing this on is something that only a small percentage of the people get to see at Kansas Speedway. First off just going to the speedway is fun. I have been going there since it opened. For the last 2yrs I have been staying in the infield. This event just went from a fun day at the track to Mardi Gras in Kansas City. I cannot say that I am proud of the things I did over the 72hr period but the memories will last forever. The festivities go until around 4-5am with thousands of people walking around. Jello shots, Gin buckets, Apple Pie shots everywhere you turn. People out there love to share food and drink. I cannot even tell you how much I ate. The best part about it is there is no fighting. Everyone is just having a great time. If you have a chance to get into the infield it is a must. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR KIDS. This is a horrible horrible place for kids. read more

We picked Kansas for our second Nascar experience mostly based on track location (easy day drive). We found the track facilities to be well kept and the view from our seats (section 131) was good all the way around the track. The couple food items we had were reasonably priced and lines for food were not too long. Bathrooms were clean and no lines the couple times I used them. We went to a truck race and a car race as part of the weekend and both times brought in a small cooler with drinks which was a nice perk and saved us some cash. Only thing that the track could change was generator noise for the campers. It would be awesome if there was a campground for no generators or no loud construction generators at night. We had a couple very old/loud generators around us that ran 24 hours a day. The built in RV diesel generators or new "quiet" generators are fine but these old/cheap construction generators make it hard to sleep/sit near them. We found the Casino to be a nice perk and went two different times over the weekend to play a bit and cool off in their AC. One thing worth mentioning is this event drew top notch people watching! Lots of questionable wardrobe, hair and tattoo choices. Also I felt bad for a lot of these people that apparently had never heard of sunscreen or ear plugs. read more

I was really impressed with the speedway!! My first nascar event and I loved it!!!!! Food and drinks were reasonable but parking was terrible. Had to walk forever to get to and from your car. By far the best in and out parking experience. KCKPD does a great job with this. I'm glad they stopped blocking people from being able to go to The Legends and eat before the race(A huge boost for KCK). They have employee's at the gates telling us to enjoy the races. I have been a season ticket holder from the beginning and the only reason this is a 4 and not a 5 is because the benches are horrible to sit on for a long period of time and they won't allow all seat cushions. This is a great place to watch a race. Parking was efficiently accomplished, we were out in minutes, great sight lines. Food and drink prices are elevated, but within the market expectations. We went to the race in May. If you are a wheelchair user, be prepared for hassle. Parking guards asked for State issued laminated card (besides my license), that I swear I never received, which would be used to verify my placard belonged to me. Although this is a good way to ensure people aren't borrowing someone else's placard, I have never been asked for this other laminated card - ever - and I've been driving for 15 years. I was allowed to park in accessible parking once the guard saw my wheelchair. Be prepared to be hot during pre-race activities. All pre-race activities are in a huge parking lot with little to no cover. No water misting machines available and we were charged $4 for just ice. We purchased tickets online weeks before the race and called to confirm they are wheelchair accessible seats. When we arrived, we found out they weren't and we had to be re-assigned. There is quite a distance from our seats back to the ticket booth and back to our seats. The restrooms are a ways away from seating as well. Although I could see the entire track from our seats, I found it to be less interesting than watching on TV. We rented headsets. Be aware that there are 2 headsets and 1 receiver in each pack so you are listening to the same channel, but if you don't mind that, there's no reason to purchase another pack. This was not disclosed before we rented our pack so when we arrived, we picked up our 2 packs and later realized we could have only rented 1 pack so we returned 1 pack. Also, be prepared for mass chaos when you leave. It's basically a free for all towards the exit with guards trying to keep people in lanes, but some lanes that are designated enter only were used after the race for exiting vehicles. We found this confusing and frustrating when lanes were merging but there were no signs stating so. I wrote the speedway about my concerns and still haven't heard anything back from them and it's been a month now. read more
