My sister had recommended Kapahulu Auto as she has used them before, and was very pleased. After a few hours, they had texted they were done and I could pick up my car. I got there to find out the did all of the fluid checks, oil change...the usuals all very reasonably priced. It was such a pleasure to have such good service that doesn't try to upsell you on everything, especially being a woman customer. I went to Kapahulu Auto Repair to get a safety check. I called in the morning and was able to get a same day appointment for 4:30pm. I arrived for the appointment, gave them my paperwork, went into the office to pay and in about 10 minutes the safety check was all done. The staff were polite and they are efficient. They have a wooden picnic table outside the office so you can sit there and wait. They are located in a residential area close to Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens in Kapahulu. Depending on which direction you come from, you might not be able to see the shop or their signage. I came from Waikiki so I spotted the green exterior structure and pulled in, parked in front of a car that another mechanic was working on. I recommend this place for a last minute safety check or if you work/live near this area. read more

Booked an appointment for oil change and safety check. Show up for the appointment and I'm told they couldn't do one of the things. That's ok, I just wish they had called. Next they want me to sign a form saying they won't provide a written estimate which is a first in decades of driving and getting cars serviced. Super sketchy, do not agree to that. They should be able to provide a written estimate for services or they could charge you whatever they feel like charging you. Never been to a repair shop outside of Servco but got recommended this place from a friend of the owner. Service was fast done same day. I mainly talked to the lady at the front desk who helped me write down the issues I had with my car to give to the mechanics and she was very sweet. Mechanics were extremely thorough and presented options for fixing my car ranging from least to most concerning and got my approval before initiating any repairs. Oh come on... they can't ALWAYS be honest!! :) So I was having car trouble (couldn't open the trunk) and according to Dr. Google it must be the battery. I got a same day appointment (without having to cry and beg) and brought it in. They tested the battery and said it was fine and didn't need a battery.. they even compared mine to a new one and it wasn't needed. It would be so easy to just change out my battery like I've heard had been done at other shops but not these guys. I would have paid for one just because their customer service is awesome. Unfortunately most of my car problems have to be brought to the dealer (2016 Corvette Stingray) but I'm definitely going here anytime I can and am recommending them to everyone I meet. read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND FAST! These 2 words best describe my experience with Kapahulu Auto Service. This company came highly recommended by trustworthy friends and better yet, they're close to my house. My car blew a heater hose around 1 pm yesterday in Wahiawa. I was calling around shops to see who could take me in and I called KAR first but next available slot was Monday so I took it. Called a competitor who quoted me a more expensive labor rate and during that call, KAR called back and said somebody cancelled tomorrow and you can come in at 8 am. WOOO HOOO! They were very kind to accommodate my wishes for an earlier appointment and already offered a better price over competition. Then I realize, I have to park my car at my house overnight then pay for a tow in the morning to KAR... so I called them back and asked if they would allow me to drop off my car right away and they were so kind to say yes. Dropped my car off yesterday at 430 pm and I saved the cost of a tow this morning. Mahalo KAR! I got a call at 901 am this morning with an estimate YIKES! informed me of a timeline of which I thought was good. They said she would likely be ready by tomorrow Friday... cool I thought! At 4:31 pm today I get a text car is ready. WOW! I was without my car for only 24 hours exact! If you're like me and dread the huge inconveniences that come with not having my car, to only be without it for one day is a true blessing. Mistakenly made an appt here for a safety check thinking they were another auto repair shop close by on Kapahulu. But since I was already there I committed. Took less than 10 min, quick but rude. Upon finishing up I asked the mechanic if my tires look ok, he replied "if they weren't your sensors would let you know". Sheeesh! Tire pressure light went on so I circled around the Kapahulu area in hopes of finding a tire pressure pump but to no avail. Then I stumbled upon Kapahulu Auto Repair and pulled in. I saw an old friend Mike who helped me fill my tires up in less than 5 minutes and sent me on my way. Really appreciated the prompt assistance! Maybe it's too soon to tell? But I'll update my review if my mind changes... stay tuned.. The Good: * I went in after some good friends recommended Mike from this shop. He got back me by the afternoon and told me what my quote was going to be. I asked him if he could check everything else since I have never maintained my car (I know... so bad of me). He gave me a quote and gave me good news about my car - even though I was almost ready to buy a new one based on another technician's opinion. * When I picked up my car, it was a bit after hours but they assured me they were still going to be there. I managed to run into Mike as he reassured me that my car will be running ok for a while, so no need new car yet. --- (is he just saying that or wut??) But nonetheless... it's always good to get a second opinion. And Mike reassured me of that. The Bad: * It is all the way in Kapahulu which is a far ways away from me - the windward side. But after my experience today, so worth it! The Weird: * It is super weird and awesome that this is probably the cleanest repair shop I have ever seen. Haha. Is this like Buca di Beppo? I swear their "front" kitchen is a FRONT. Those people are paid to stand there and present they flippin' pizzas I swear! No way their kitchen is that clean! * But foreal, it's a clean shop.
