Warning!!!! Stay away from this company!!!! The town of palatine Ill was taking their time approving an asphalt job Kaplin paving did, about 5 weeks after work was done. Scott greenberg called me and emailed me threatening to "rip out" the driveway unless he is paid immediately. he was demanding payment whether or not the asphalt was approved by palatine. Mr greenberg claims that he doesn't care if palatine has a problem with his work, he demand to be paid even if the work was done wrong. The total amount of the job is $2200. I prepaid 1200.00 leaving $1000.00 to be paid when the work was approved by palatine. He has threatened repeatedly to put a workman's lean against my property for $1000.00. he has said he has a lean, but i have seen no evidence of this to be true. When palatine finally notified me that the work was approved, I immediately sent kaplin a check for the $1000.00 which they received the next day. when I was at work, mr greenberg send someone over to my house and started to rip out the driveway, It is sliced up ready to be removed. basically, he had it destroyed. I have filed a report with the palatine police, the police contacted kaplin but they denied destroying my driveway. Last November I decided to replace my aging blacktop driveway. After talking to a neighbor, who highly recommended Kaplan Paving after they paved his driveway, I gave them a call. Joe came out a couple of days later and measured, discussed options, and prepared and presented an estimate for the work. I had fully intended on seeking estimates from two other companies. But after the courteous, professional, no pressure interaction that I experienced, and the very competitive price he quoted that included a three year warranty, I called the next day to have them do the job. Joe returned in a couple days and answered every one of my questions diligently, offered attractive financing options, and then photographed and noted all of the areas of concern unique to my situation that we discussed. I did not experience any of the communications issues that other reviewers have stated, as Annette pleasantly notified us each day previous to a crew coming out for their scheduled work. On both prep, and paving day, the assigned crew arrived at the appointed time, and were professional, courteous, and extremely neat in their work. When they finished they left my wife and I, with a beautiful "pool table" flat driveway, that was crafted exactly to the specifications that Joe and I had discussed in our initial encounter. I am very pleased that I went with my initial gut reaction, and chose Kapan Paving for our paving needs, as they delivered exactly what Joe had promised. An above average product from a highly rated professional company, that employs conscientious employees. I would add that I received in the ensuing weeks so many favorable comments and inquires from my neighbors and passersby. I had my 21 year old driveway replaced by Kaplan in July, 2017 after meeting with multiple paving companies. Joe at Kaplan was very knowledgeable when he first met with us and explained the options available. We went with the 2 lift driveway which is 2 separate layers of 2 inches of asphalt compressed to 1.5 inches for a total layer of 3 inches. It is suppose to last longer and prevent any grooves if cars are parked on it for longer periods of time or larger vehicles will be driving on it.. Since we are planning on staying in our house for awhile and the cost wasn't much more, we decided to go this route. Kaplan did a great job on the driveway and took extra care around our walkway paving bricks (did not need to remove them). The driveway is sloped very well and no puddles after any rain so far after 1 month. Billy came out after the job was completed to ensure we were satisfied with the work and provided an explanation/booklet on future maintenance. I would have given it 5 stars except the communication from their office could have been clearer on the timing of when the work would start. read more

Kaplan Saves the Day!! Last year I had a paving company, that I will not name, dig up my driveway and install a new black top driveway. Not only did they pitch the driveway towards my house, they drove their heavy machines too close to my house which caused cracks where the brick meets my foundation which resulted in my basement flooding. I had to go through months of gutting my basement and had to repair and seal the exterior portion along the driveway side of my home. I then called Kaplan and told them what had happened and they said they were the right company for the job. They worked closely with the Village of Glenview's engineer and after a few meetings they received clearance from the village and flawlessly they installed my driveway. When it rains the water perfectly flows down the center of my driveway and the finishing edges on the drive are done with precision. Our driveway is 116' X 20' and it's 50 years old. I contacted Kaplan Paving for a quote to replace the cracked and crumbling asphalt. The rep,Jen Bell, was knowledgeable and explained the process of replacing the asphalt. She measured the driveway twice to be sure her numbers were correct. Jen suggested they could tie my down spouts from my house together and run them under ground to the front lawn. I highly recommend. Her proposal was very good and we contracted with Kaplan to do the work. Jen told me if I had any questions or concerns to call her and I did several times each time she had the answer. I was was told they could start after the 4th of July. They started the week before the 4th and were done July 2nd. The crews worked fast and hard and removed the old asphalt in one day. Lee Greenberg, my sales representative, came to my house and measured my driveway and within a day, he returned a quote. I accepted the quote. Lee was very courteous and provided suggestions on the layout of the paving. I had to wait six months before my driveway was paved. The quote was maintained. When I returned, I called to schedule the crew. The old asphalt was removed and the next day after the inspector from Highland Park surveyed the base, the Kaplan crew returned the same day and paved the driveway. We decided to get three quotes from various contractors to remove and replace our existing driveway and add an apron. Kaplan was the only contractor to contact me to make an appointment to review what we wanted to to do. The other two contractors just e-mailed me a quote. We had several concerns that Kaplan addressed and gave options. They discouraged us from making our apron too large as not to compromise the integrity of the apron because we are on a slope. The workers were professional and efficient. I was impressed with the follow-up with Billy after the job was complete. The whole experience with them was very pleasant from Joe the salesman, to Victor who removed the old driveway, to the crew who laid the new asphalt! Everyone I encountered was professional, polite and courteous and the job could not have been better. When the job was finished and before I paid the final balance due, I had a concern and contacted the operations manager, Jason, who promply returned my call and discussed my issue with me. I called Kaplan asking for an estimate to repair or replace my asphalt driveway. Joe Revelle was here within three days and gave me pros and cons on repairing or replacing driveway. decided to replace and a date for job was made. Workers came on a Thurs.to take out old driveway. Had to wait several days for inspection, then rain and had to wait, again. Work finally completed and they did a great job and did all the clean up. Did not follow up with final inspection so I had to do it and it was approved. I would recommend Kaplan, but try to schedule first if week so all work and inspections can be done without delay. read more

I have nothing but the highest praise for Kaplan Paving. They did an excellent job of installing a new asphalt driveway. Their workmen were organized, focused and conscientious in their execution. It was like watching a well-oiled machine operate with the men and machines. The Supervisor was very professional and had a handle on all that needed to be done - and when it needed to be done. If the pandemic has hampered the availability of workers it did not show. Melanie in the office was always cheerful and followed up when questions arose. I needed my driveway replaced for the first time, so searching the internet and looking at reviews I narrowed it down to 3. Of those 3 only 2 responded. Kaplan had the best price, now I was concerned that price might have a negative outcome with workmanship and the end result. Kaplan did a great job, the customer service was excellent, had some delays with rain so had to reschedule a few times but the end result is perfect. They came out after the driveway was replaced to see if I had any questions, went through care instructions with me which I thought was great customer service, they didn't have to do that. read more

We have multiple Multi-Tenant commercial properties in Chicago and in the north suburbs. Our tenants enjoy a very snow and ice free parking lot and side walks for at least the past 3 years. Kaplan Paving replaced our driveway at our home in DesPlaines. I originally got 3 quotes from 3 different paving companies. Kaplan was not the cheapest, but they offered more for the money. I liked the packet of information they gave me which included their certificate of insurance. It explained everything without me having to ask the questions. The quote was very reasonable and the work was done in a couple of days. We had to have them come out and fix a minor flaw, which they took care of right away and the driveway looks beautiful. We had a 17 year old driveway that was showing cracks that were beyond repair. Our neighbor was going to have Kaplan redo her drive so we thought lets just get ours done also. We probably could have waited another year, but, since they were going to be in the neighborhood we knew we would be happier with a new drive. And we are happy with the professional job Kaplans did. Kaplan repaved our long driveway and parking area in front of three garages over 2014. It was done correctly by prepping and repairing in the fall, letting the base coat set all winter followed by the top coating in the spring. Ours was not an easy task with our upper parking area and retaining wall but they did this all very professionally without leaving a mess. I sent photos of the whole operation to their salesman (Phil) who was responsive and available to our needs. Office communication was a little fuzzy though.
