Total Paving built our asphalt driveway and has maintained it for 10 years. Last year I asked for repairs on the aprons that have sunk over time and are holding water and deteriorating. Finally they fulfilled their $10k project. I was disappointed and asked for a review. A supervisor came out and agreed that the job was sub par. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Here's how they proceeded to make things better[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We could not be happier with Erik and his team and the job they did on our new backyard patio. They were prompt, listened to us about what we were looking for, explained the job thoroughly, worked quickly but effectively, and helped with a few minor tweaks at the end. Fair price that was itemized out for us to easily understand. Couldn't recommend them more. We will be using them for future projects!

I hired Total Paving and Brick Services to fill in cracks and resurface my driveway last spring, and it was an absolute disaster. They showed up, got to work immediately--no prep, no cleaning--just started sealing cracks and spreading the resurfacing material. The whole job was done in 90 minutes, which should have been my first red flag. Within five weeks, the resurfacing started coming off, and in two months, my driveway looked horrible--worse than before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called to complain, the manager came out and immediately blamed me, saying the exposed driveway showed inferior material underneath.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If that were truly the issue, why didn't anyone mention it before taking my money? She also pointed out there were a lot of cracks. I got pissed and pointed out that's why I hired them to take care of the cracks so she inadvertently confirmed they did a terrible job with the cracks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead of taking responsibility, she blamed me. I was dumbfounded. I mean how is any of this my fault?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Between the terrible workmanship and awful customer service, I wouldn't recommend this company for anything. Save yourself the frustration and find someone who actually stands behind their work. You can see from the photos that I'm not exaggerating. I swear most of the resurfacing material has now come off during the winter. DO NOT HIRE TOTAL PAVING!!!!

Cracks started appearing 6-9 months after new driveway was installed.

Posting to hopefully help future customers not to make a mistake to go with this company. I rarely give anyone 1 star reviews. The driveway is around 16 months old and cracks all over. It is a long and wide asphalt driveway. Cracks started appearing late last year when it was 8 months old. They came out to fix a couple of the cracks. And they did not address the others. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have contacted them 5 + times with no response. They do not respond to emails or calls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I even contacted them to seal this year and the cracks were not filled in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now the disturbing part is after they sealed the driveway several months ago , I have contacted them to address the cracks, and zero response[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I would recommend to stay away from this company for your driveway project.

We had a brand new patio installed, and we are loving it! A big shout out to George for helping with the design-- He worked diligently with us to ensure the design was exactly what we wanted. The crew did a wonderful job on site. We highly recommend total paving!

    Splotches on new patio
    William A.

An absolute disaster from start to finish. Communication was nonexistent once we signed the contract. They kept pushing off the work until late in the season. Then destroyed our landscaping with a heavy machine we didn't know they were going to use. Framing was initially done incorrectly and had to be redone, costing another 2 weeks. The final product has significant discolorations and splotches still visible almost a year later, and they didn't remove sections of the old patio by the doorways, leaving a total mess. DO NOT USE. UPDATE: the response below is a lie. They did not explain the risks or doing work in a cold season - they said, oh it could leave some marks but those will fade don't worry. They did not reseed the lawn after - we paid a landscaper $3000 to do that after they butchered ours. They did not finish to the doorways, leaving obvious spots that do not match. The pictures are accurate and the spots have STILL not faded 11 months later. Lies lies lies.

I had seen their trucks in my area earlier in the week replacing a neighbor's driveway. I received their estimate, which looked reasonable, but before signing it I asked my lawyer to review it. Be aware that the contract has issues. Specifically -paragraphs 1, 7 and 11. Paragraph 1 - while it is fully understandable and reasonable that material and labor costs can potentially increase before the work is done, they provide no breakdown in the contract between labor and materials. If they request an increase, you have no idea what they are basing that increase on. Therefore, you should ask for a breakdown of labor costs vs material costs. Paragraph 7 - According to the law, it is the company's responsibility to notify Julie, not the customer's. And the company is responsible for any damage caused to utilities, not the customer. The customer has no way of knowing where the utilities are or how deep they are. Julie will give you and the company that information, but it's not up to the customer to monitor the company's work. Therefore, paragraph 7 needs to be stricken. Paragraph 11 - the contract asks for payment on completion so the customer is being asked to accept the work before the concrete is cured and can be driven on. At that point, the customer has no idea if there are defects. Therefore, paragraph 11 needs to be stricken or modified to say that final payment is due once the cure period is over, and the work has been deemed acceptable. The verbiage in Paragraph 3 also needs to be modified to reflect that payment is not due on the completion date, but rather when the concrete is cured and is acceptable. Beware of signing anything before you ask for a legal opinion. I asked the company to modify the contract accordingly and they declined. Therefore I am taking my business elsewhere.

The price they quoted me was around $3,000, and I've included some pictures below. What concerns me most is the lack of trust I now have in their recommendations. I previously hired this company to do tuckpointing work for me. About three years later, I contacted them about touching up a few areas, and I was told the work was already in bad shape. When I reminded them that they were the ones who had performed the original work, the response was essentially, "Oh, we can just repair these couple of bricks. It's not a big deal." After that experience, and now being presented with what I believe is an unnecessarily expensive repair, I simply don't feel comfortable doing business with this company anymore. When you hire a company and spend good money on their work, you expect fair pricing, honest recommendations, and quality workmanship. Unfortunately, that's not the experience I had.

Previously I did not have a driveway - just two gravel tracks. Manuel and his crew were done within DAYS, were super organized (the rest of my yard was literally untouched), and it looks amazing. My garage is set wayyyy back detached from my house, so it is a very long driveway - it's been over a year, and we love it. Several neighbors have asked for his info, even leaving notes in my mailbox, and everyone agrees that I brought up the whole block's value. This is a long-term investment that has already started to pay off. I'll also add that my village, in spite of my permit application being sent in in November, did not tell me until two months later in January that they were going to tear up my street, the gutters, and that everyone's apron (including my brand new beautiful apron) would be destroyed, to be fixed at my own expense. I reached out to Manuel, and without even telling me, the crew came and completely reset my paver apron once the road was done, just out of kindness. Talk about customer service, even after the project was done - thank you to you and your crew again, Manuel! Highly recommend all around for any size project you need.

We were remodeling our basement and got several quotes, but Chris immediately stood out with a fair, reasonable price and a thoughtful approach that made us feel comfortable right from the start. What really set Chris apart was how involved he was before the work even began--and all the way through the project. He offered great design and layout suggestions we honestly wouldn't have thought of on our own, from flooring choices to lighting to small details that made a big difference. He also helped design the space so it functions like three different rooms while still feeling like one connected, open area, which completely changed how we use it. His team was on time, professional, and incredibly respectful. They put down protective matting as they went in and out of the basement, swept the floors daily, cleaned up debris as they worked, and treated our home with real care. They even took their shoes off before coming inside. It genuinely felt like they were remodeling their own home, not just doing a job. The crew truly felt like family, and the before-and-after transformation of our basement is incredible. There were also a lot of thoughtful touches that really stood out. On days when we weren't home, Chris and his team would bring our garbage cans up near the house on collection day, which was completely unexpected and very appreciated. Even after the basement was finished, they helped move furniture and larger items downstairs, which felt truly above and beyond. Our dog even loved them--and he's a pretty good judge of character. Throughout the entire process, they were consistently kind, considerate, and easy to have around. One highlight that still amazes me: Chris and his team stained the basement stairs to perfectly match our first-floor stairs. I honestly didn't think it could be done, but they took their time and absolutely nailed it. The drywall and framing work were done beautifully, and what really stood out was that Chris came back later to check on everything and make small touch-ups, just to be sure the work held up. That level of pride and follow-through is rare. They painted the ceiling black and were meticulous--no missed spots, no shortcuts. Everything was done with care. We agreed on a timeline, and they started when they said they would, finished on time, and left the space spotless when the job was done. To make things even easier, we simply picked out samples from Home Depot, and Chris and his team handled all the materials. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. All we had to do was make one call, do a little planning, and enjoy our new basement one to two weeks later. And honestly, our basement is now one of our favorite parts of the house. It's peaceful, quiet, and truly enjoyable. What we expected to be just a more functional space turned into a place we actually love spending time in. The whole experience felt exciting--almost like Christmas morning--watching it come together. The results completely exceeded our expectations. We're really happy we chose Chris and his team for this project. The experience was smooth from start to finish, the quality of the work speaks for itself, and we'd absolutely work with them again if we ever take on another remodel.
