We needed to redo the concrete entry steps and landing into our Peterson Woods bungalow. I think I got 7 different estimates for the project. Each person seemed to tell me something different about the needs/requirements of the project. Prices varied widely, as did the apparent quality of the contractors. After much ado, we settled on Rick from RAS Concrete. They are out of Gurnee, but do a lot of work in the city, especially the Northside. Rick was the most professional and knowledgeable. I truly trusted what he was telling me. In the end, we are thrilled with his work. Our neighbors have been coming over to inspect and admire the work. Hired RAS Concrete to remove existing patio and replace with new of equal dimension. Received the quote, the work began. I then received a call stating that my patio had been poured over another patio and that it would cost additional $ to be removed. I wondered why this had not been identified at the time an estimate was being created. l was stuck and ok'd the work. This was in Fall of 2012. During the course of work, we had to tell them (RAS workers) to stop swearing and worse was to stop throwing bits of concrete and dirt up at my house. The work was completed and looked fine. The next Spring (of 2013) we started noticing flaws in the concrete - large and small droplet looking images scatterd all over the patio. We scrubbed and powerwashed and scrubbed more with various products. The images would not go away. These images are now scattered over the entire patio. I contacted owner, Rick, he came out and said there is nothing he can do. This is bad concrete. I did my part by coming to your house. Throwing his arms up in the air several times saying over and over, there is nothing I can do. Now we have aggregate stones coming up to the surface and popping out. This company also appears on Angie's List. So, Rick, owner of RAS Concrete, you want to stand up and correct this work you have done? If you want someone who will answer your initial call, show up when he says and follow up and deliver please know this is the only concrete company you should consider. Rick stated he is old school.
