We had sooooo much fun! Our tour guide was perfection, funny and knowledgeable and our small group of 13 for 12 hours was a blast, everyone got a long so well. Meals and snacks are included!We were on the full circle tour, which meant we started in Kona and went around the entire island, stopping at amazing destinations along the way, like a coffee farm, volcano national park, a mountain winery for lunch, waterfalls, gorgeous lookouts that just take you to another world. I am not a fan of mountain driving, so when I saw they did tours like this and someone could drive us, it was worth every penny. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone! read more

My husband and I joined the lava hike tour during our visit to Hawaii Island. Honestly, it was the highlight of our trip. It was such a super cool experience and our tour guide, Grant, was awesome! He was super smart and was full of information. The hike was pretty gnarly! I wouldn't recommend it for people who are not physically fit. But if you're fit and adventurous, it's definitely worth it! The tour comes with lunch (sandwich and chips), and also a bbq dinner. The tour is a full day so be prepared to spend the entire day in the van or outdoors. I have to say it was worth it! read more

Went zip lining today during torrential downpour and it was one of the best experiences of my life!! Initially, my boyfriend and I were concerned about the weather due to the incoming hurricane, but we soon realized how amazing it could be to do this in the rain! You actually zip faster and see some incredible waterfalls! But honestly the most wonderful part of the experience aside from the obvious zipping, was how safe we felt because of our awesome tour guides. Ona, Jess and Nicole were experts who made us all feel comfortable and reassured. More so than that, they were super friendly, fun, easy to talk to, and so positive. I could've hung out with them all day. They clearly know what they are doing and also know how to make a group have a blast together. I recommend this experience ten-fold. I'd go again and again. All of the guides are exceptional, but if you get Ona, Jess and Nicole, you'll be very lucky!! If I'm ever back on the Big Island, I am paying them a visit again! read more

Being very candid on this- we opted for the evening explorer volcanic tour, which took up around 7-8 hours. Our tour guide (Tiffany) was great, but I know our complaints are out of her control. For the price that we pay for this, I just feel that it was not bang for my buck. We drove around all day seeing the latest lava flow remnants and got to go through the lava tube and see the volcano at sunset, which is pretty cool to witness mother nature's beauty, but overall I feel that it could have easily been done on our own without burning the amount of money that we did. The day was dragged along where I couldn't quite grasp how this tour is priced at where it is. Definitely a tourist trap! read more

This review is for the zip line. We first registered at the KapohoKine office at the Grand Naniloa Hotel. Then we boarded a passenger van and travel to the destination. The driver had told us all the story and made the trip very entertaining. While going up the hill the road was very bumpy. The zip line guide Grey and Dash had been very helpful. There were all together nine line, some of them short, some of them very long and travel through the valley. It was quite scary for the first step and I had pull the rope too hard and my arm was sore. It was totally not necessary to hold the rope at all. When the line was long, the line would not be strict because of gravity. There would be a brake near the end of the line. Passenger would have to get a rope near the brake so the line guide could pull up the passenger. My wife did not catch the rope so she fall back and stuck in the line. A guy had to slide down to pull her back. At a moment she was hanging several hundred feet above ground. I considered that extra entertainment at no addition charge. At about half way of the adventure we had a break and had water, complementary Longan and crack it yourself Macadamia nuts. I enjoy those very much. I am glad I was there. I recommend you not to bring drinks or food becauce you have to carry it with you during the whole trip. Just leave it in your car. Wear a glove so you will be more comfortable while catching the rope. read more

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!! My husband and I did this tour today and it was absolutely amazing! From start to finish this is one of the best experiences we've had during a vacation. The views from the zip lines are some of the most beautiful views I've seen on the island. It's clear that safety comes first which is obviously very appreciated. Great way to spend an afternoon or morning in Hilo experiencing the true zip line adventure. There are 7 lines with the last one being almost 1 minute. All lines have excellent views of the valley and some waterfalls. Awesome guides and drivers. At first I was nervous as I'm not a huge fan of heights but this was so safe and the guide were excellent. Don't pass this up if you're a first of heights. read more

We booked this tour at a kiosk over in Kona at my husband's request! I figured if he allowed me to do the Ironman triathlon I could give him a UTV tour ;) They bring you from their location in Hilo to their stunning property which as a bonus has mac nut trees, cattle, and many varieties of fruit. The property is in a hill and and offers beautiful views. You can see the people on the zip line at some points and you even stop at a sheltered pavilion to look at a beautiful waterfall and eat fresh picked fruit. We loved our tour guides - Imi, Mana, Meliana, and Jae, our van driver. They all had amazing personalities and recommendations and made the excursion so fun. This Zipline was by far the easiest and majestic scenery I've done. Awesome for those who dont like rigorous hikes and stairs. I would definitely recommend to do this tour. So much fun! We did the Zipline with a BBQ lunch and waterfall swim. The staff was amazing. Lawrence picked us up early In the morning. We learned so much about the Island and Hawaii culture on the way over, he is a great tour guide and made the long drive entertaining. The Zipline was amazing. From the tower, you see some trees and grass and think "ok, this is sorta pretty" then it opens up and you see the waterfalls! OMG the moment it opens up over the river takes your breath away. You feel like a bird flying free! The property is so beautiful with lots of tasty fruit trees. Ona and Ashley did a great job! We felt confident on the lines and towers even though neither of us had ever been on a Zipline before. Crystal and Courtney took us to the waterfall for lunch. We took the Lava Expedition tour with Jesse as our guide and he made our adventure a really amazing experience!! Jesse is lively and very knowledgeable (the brudduh born & raised Hilo! You can tell he is passionate and appreciative of his native land, culture and tradition as he expresses the legends of Hawaii and the cultural aspect as intricately possible. He made our tour a fun one educating us on the how, what, and why. The agriculture, geography, and the abundance of the land he calls home. As we started our tour, Jesse introduced himself and the other guests participating in our tour, he ensured he got our orders and supplies ready and packed up for us before departing. Informed us of other parties who will be joining us and how he plans to tackle our agenda. He went the extra mile to accommodate our keiki riders and our elders...now that's a true sign of islander respect. When it was time to head to the winery for our BBQ dinner, Jesse called the owner to assist our vegetarians on our tour and Dale was incredibly accommodating in such short notice! The Volcano Winery was very nice and welcoming! The owners Dale and his wife along with Becky who grilled an amazing BBQ dinner for us and Loretta who poured our wine during wine tasting were very friendly and bubbly! We had the best day with Tiffany, Deven and the team! This was our first time zip lining and we loved it! The team was incredible. It was fun, beautiful, well run and safe. Our seven year old was nervous at first and Tiffany was great with her - patient, excited and encouraging. She even got her to go on her own and now she's begging to go back. With Kapohokine adventures , there are total 8 zipline and some of them goes very fast , zipline 4rth and 8th are the longest one and have the amazing view of waterfalls, rivers and a dense forest, tour guides Pauline,Dylan and I forgot the name of third one are so friendly and well trained ,we are impressed with their attention to safety, they have the gopro camera on rent we took one and the quality was quite good also they have some cameras attached on the bridges on zipline where you can take your pictures and can purchase them from their store after viewing it. One picture cost around $25 and more than Two is $45 ,driving through Banyan roads and jungle was an awesome experience.I and my husband loved this zipline tour and we would love to book them again in future. read more

We decided to go zip lining this time visiting the island and it was a great pick! We went on a beautiful clear day and we were able to see all around us. The staff was nice from check in, to our driver that gave us lots of tips, to the guys that helped us out on the zip line. I wish I can personally say thank you to everyone but I can only remember Kiata and Ike's name. They made sure everything was safe and secure, played some Beatles music, told us some fun facts of the island and they showed off their cool skills. My mom didn't want to zip line so she stayed behind with my daughter (she's only 3 and tiny) and they gave them the opportunity to walk the grounds below the zip lines and then hop on to the van to the end point. They even had a car seat for her which was great because the ride up to the zip lines is bumpy. Halfway through the trip they provided water and delicious fruit and nuts. They even helped us get out of our gear to use the restroom and to get back in the gear. They did plenty of regular checks on the gear, which relaxed my nerves. The views were amazing by the way, I took my cellphone out on the zips and was able to take photos and videos of my family and myself while gliding through the air. Definitely coming back to the big island on my next trip out to Hawaii just so I can bring my friends and family to zip line! read more

On the last full day of our trip, we were thinking about one last adventure when the idea of zip lining came up. We looked at the prices, $109 per person, and thought that was a killer deal for 2 miles of zipping over water falls, a volcano, and other amazing scenery. Come to find out, there was a Groupon available, which made the price only $80 per person! We enjoyed everything about this adventure. The people at check-in were very polite. The driver, Ferren, was funny, knowledgeable, and shared a lot about the Island and some history. Of course, the views were absolutely beautiful. The zip line team members we had were all MVPs. Ona, Greg, Devin, Dishman, and Jesse each did a great job making everyone feel safe while, at the same time, giving everyone a thrilling experience. Everyone was super friendly, cool, and loved what they do. We had the opportunity to eat some native fruit and crack our own macadamia nuts. Our first time ziplining and this was so much fun. Our driver Alex was full of knowledge and positive outlook. Our zipline instructors were amazing and made us all feel at ease. I had my wife, 16 year old son and 7 year old son. The instructors were so much fun. We found a good deal on groupon and it was worth every cent. Beautiful scenery. The waterfalls were amazing .the wildlife was breathtaking. We packed sandwiches, water and snacks for the midpoint zipline where they let you eat. You don't have to bring a backpack,light jackets for rain, they provide it all for you. Also, be sure to tip your driver and instructors, they deserve it. Easy to locate in lobby of The Doubletree in Hilo. It is a must if visiting the island. read more

Our family of 3 from CA did the zip line on Friday. We met at the Grand Naniloa Hotel at Hilo. Driver to the zip line talked all the way there about herself, so we got bored. Would prefer to hear about the sceneries instead. Guides at the zip line were hard working and pros. Gytis gave us some information on the plants and another guy (see pic) gave us information on the peacocks. We appreciated that. Ona alleviated our group's fears of heights. These guys deserve more than 5 stars. Definitely the longest zip line and we have done several on different parts of the islands. We liked the option of having lunch delivered to us during our rest stop. I would highly recommend paying the extra $15 pp for fresh sandwiches, water, and chips. U will be hungry and will appreciate the cold food. One thing that I didn't get is the lack of information to tip our zip guides. I thought this was going to happen at the hotel. We were all generous to our undeserving driver but I felt that the zip guides were the ones who worked the hardest. Make sure to tip the zip guides b4 heading back to the bus. read more
