But once you walk within the gates or the walls of Kapok, call me or take him back to a different time. The whole place reminds me of, my big fat Greek wedding. Personally, not a place I would choose for a wedding for myself, but the wedding attended was all done their complete A-to-Z. Amazing time amazing staff everything came together. My husband and I got married at the Kapok 1/22/22 and cannot recommend this gorgeous and outstanding venue enough! Our experience was seamless, our event was flawless, and our coordinator was perfect! Ask for Shirley Scoggins! She is extremely detail oriented and always on the ball! Anything we needed help or assistance with leading up to and on our special day she was right by our side cheering us on! This venue is stunning and so unique compared to other venues across all of st pete/tampa/clearwater. The chandelier, the red staircase, the greek columns and statues, as well as the fountains are absolutely breathtaking! The space was huge, it was more than accommodating for our 200 guests and could even hold more! Our guests were totally blown away by the entire day it was like out of a movie! Toured for my wedding venue next year. REALLY needs a paint job and REALLY needs to clean the fountains from green mold. The whole place including bathrooms needs to be freshened up a bit; new paint for scuffs on walls, clean, fill in cracks. If it got TLC I'd consider it as a venue. Also they might think about making the outside enterance more magical - just a parking lot with a full shed of wood and garbage cans :( this is meant to be helpful constructive criticism so this place will improve! read more

We had multiple issues working with the owner, PAMELA RUBINSON, and the coordinator, JASMEN. Two weeks prior to our wedding day we were given three options and chose to receive a full refund. We did not receive the full refund. It took YEARS (two plus years of marriage and two babies) to get our money back. Save yourself the stress and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Kapok Event Center is also the home of Players School of Music. This school is located next to Sam Ash Music store which make very convenience to the student if they have a broken string. Many student oversea has study here. Choose your instrument of study. Bass, Guitar, Keyboard, Drum, Horn or Vocal. They have it all. The provide practical and principle of music of study. Event is hosted for their student. Most of all, this very beautiful event location. Waterfall garden, little angle, mermaid, Greek garden, courtyard, nice ball room. Sound like good small wedding location. Picture perfect photo location. You can take it many angle and they are different. It can produce ton of nice photo back ground. Beautiful events center with ample parking. I find it kind of random that there is a Grecian style events center in the middle of Clearwater. I was not expecting the garden or all the statues. I came here for the Lobster Festival so I had a chance to walk around. Both gardens are spectacular. I think they are the highlight of this events center. Since I wasn't here for a normal event, I didn't get the full vision of what it could look like. The inside area was spacious and nice as well. Everything is really clean and the building seems well taken care of. There are a million photo ops here for a wedding or dinner type event. All the Grecian details make a spectacular backdrop. From the outside, the building doesn't look like much. I think that's what makes the inside even more shocking. The parking lot is crumbling a little. There was a cone in the middle of a lane so people wouldn't drive over the hole. This is definitely an instance of don't judge a book by its cover. I would suggest coming and seeing this place in person if you are looking to book an event. read more

My daughter was married May 11, 2019 at Kapok. The venue is beautiful - the grounds, ceremony room and ballroom - and the site has a lot of history. When the flowers, candles, linens, and lighting were in place, it really did look magical. We met in August with Chef Vinnie and Kelsey (wedding coordinator) who explained the services, pricing, menu items, and vendors. We signed a contract (Gold Package), and paid the deposit. Included in the contract, Vinnie included a SAMPLE menu which he explained could be changed after we made our choices at the food tastings. The day of the wedding the staff could not have been more attentive. Jasmen and Meagan, the wedding coordinators were AWESOME, taking care of all details and ensuring that everything was perfect. They kept the wedding party fed and hydrated, tweaked makeup meltdowns, moved tables, and dealt with the vendors. During the wedding and reception they were involved in every aspect and making sure that everything was kept on a schedule. Chef Vinnie and his friend even performed vocals during the Anniversary Dance, something that we were told they do not do on a regular basis (they both had beautiful voices). When I went through the buffet line I was shocked to see that none of our menu choices were being served, and only one of our appetizer passed items was offered. In addition, there was a fiasco with the cake; the top two layers slid off the base layer and had to be returned to the kitchen for the entire reception for repairs. When I spoke with the staff the Monday after the wedding, I was told that the menu matter would be investigated. I was told a couple days later that the catering chef had prepared the SAMPLE menu that was in the computer, and not the menu items we had decided on after the two tastings (that had been recorded on paper by his catering assistant and by the wedding coordinator.) There is an obvious lack of communication between the finalized, paper recorded menus selected by us and their computer system. I have yet to receive any sort of restitution or apology from the catering department regarding this. Would I recommend Kapok for future events...yes, with hesitation. A beautiful, historical venue - YES! The two wedding coordinators were THE BEST! The menu mix up - unacceptable! And it was very warm - we were told that the owner would not allow the AC to be brought down to a lower, more comfortable temperature. Finally, their computerized billing system is a mess...they had constant issues trying to track my deposits and payments to give me a final bill (but they did give us a military discount). I hope they can rectify their system flaws so these errors never happen to another wedding party. read more

This venue has a lot of character and I want to start by saying my fiancé and I were initially very excited to have our wedding here. If you notice, most of the reviews here on yelp are not from anyone who was planning a wedding. The wedding coordinator Jasmen is a liar and a manipulator. From the time we were trying to book the venue in November of 2018 up until this point we have had issues with communication and excuse after excuse as to why certain planning aspects of our wedding were not in order. Instead of being an honest adult and explaining to us that she was busy with other weddings, we were told lies about her losing her phone (an excuse she used twice), lies about sending emails, contracts, invoices, etc. She lied to the owner about what was going on with our communication. It's unfortunate that Jasmen is trusted by Kapok. When we were finally sent a contract over a year later, our names were misspelled and a bunch of key information was missing (deposit paid, total costs, agreements made, etc). We lost all trust in this venue because of who they allow to represent them. We decided to take our business elsewhere. It was just super bad, to the point that we decided to take the risk and find another venue for our celebration. If you love Roman/Greek themes and gardens, this venue is the one for you. Went to this venue for a wedding and OMG, this place is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Statues adorn several gardens outside which are great for pictures. Once inside the staff was very friendly and the room is like nothing I've seen before. There is a small room where we had cocktail hour. It was not very big and there were maybe 10 tables which sat between 2-4 guests. Per their website they can hold very large weddings so there was a place to have more people. Ceremony location was also amazing. The ceiling was lined with lights, the sides arranged with soft fabric. It was one of the prettiest rooms I've seen. Again, a smaller room but they have space for many more people. I'd estimate the wedding I attended had just a little over 100 guests. Any who, love loved this place. Be aware though, the building seems to be older and the rest rooms had signs indicating their plumbing is old. It didn't bother me as everything worked fine there. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a wedding venue. The picture opportunities seem endless. read more

Beautiful venue in Clearwater on McMullen Booth Road, not far from the Courtney Campbell Causeway. I ended up here for the Annual Lobster Fest and the scenic venue was much more impressive than the festival itself! I could see this as a great place to host a wedding, reunion or family gathering of some kind. There is ample parking out back which is shared with a rather unique Sam Ash music store. The garden outdoors is absolutely stunning with many artistic statues, fountains and a vast garden of gorgeous flowers. It reminded me of a Roman or Grecian garden, perhaps something you would see in a movie like Romeo and Juliet. The interior was amazing as well...very Venetian with plenty of visual architecture. Large chandeliers, spiral staircases, marble, gold, artwork, mirrors. I completely did not expect what I found here. I spent more time roaming the grounds than enjoying the festival. I will definitely recommend or utilize this place for some event in the future. Blown away and totally unexpected! read more

So I remember when this place used to be a beautiful restaurant, even if the food wasn't always teh greatest. Then they turned the main entry into a Sam Ash *sniff* Luckily the Main portion of the place has been converted into a special events venue for weddings, private parties, and proms :) The gardens are very beautiful and from the looks of it, they're restoring thigns bit by bit. Where to start? Its got greek styling written all over it with Roman columns, statues and greenery/ grape motifs flowing everywhere. There is just so much for me to say, but my favorite room is the Grand Ballroom with the double staircase its gorgeous and opulent WOOT. Several rooms are available for use. read more

First time trying Aerial Yoga and I will definitely be back! Violet was our instructor and she was kind, patient and helped me achieve all the different moves and was so cool! Was there for a wedding in October of 2018, initially very taken back by the beauty of the exterior and gardens. Interior left MUCH to be desired, looked like a cheap, fake, poorly faked rendition of Greek/Roman era that was severely outdated. Service was beyond horrible. As part of the wedding party with the groom spending a great deal of money you would think that they would be glad to make this supposed MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF HIS LIFE special and stress-free... Well, something must have been lost in translation. We attempted to get something as simple as ice for drinks while we were taking our wedding party photographs outside on a 92° day and we're told we could not. I ended up walking to the BOH and finding an ice machine where we solved the problem ourselves, only to get yelled at by some random staffer. There was a discrepancy with the number of total guests "paidfor/booked" versus the actual number attending. We ended up approximately 20-30 guests under the expected total and were told it had already had been booked and accounted for. So we figured, okay, no big deal we will just have plenty of food for everyone in attendance... well, after running out of food before everyone had eaten left us puzzled, angry, and downright hungry. Overall, very displeased with service before, during, and after our event. Find ANY other location for your wedding/celebration needs. read more

I dont even know where to begin to describe my wonderful experience at Kapok. Of course I will begin with the location, such a beautiful venue, and the ceremony room, everyone is still talking about my "Fairytale" wedding;). Theres nothing like it in the Tampa Bay Area. I usually do not write reviews but weddings are so stressful and I know I read ALL of the reviews about my vendors during my wedding planning. Because I think the service you receive is the most crucial part of choosing a vendor I will describe my experience with Kapok and the way I was treated throughout the entire process. This is a bit lengthy but I hope it helps you:) From day 1 I met up with Rande and Nancy and I felt like they truly cared about my wedding and were there to listen to my ideas and plans. Throughout the process I felt supported, as if I was one of their own. Nancy made sure the entire process was stress free (is that even possible while planning a wedding?? haha). Nancy was my Day planner for the Day of the wedding. She showed up early in the morning and stayed till late at night. She is truly a life saver!! She treated me as if I was her own daughter, form making sure all of the vendors show up when they are supposed to, to making the ceremony room look spectacular just like I had described it! Not only that, she even made sure I get a glass of water during the ceremony because she noticed I was getting a bit wobbly. Weddings are her passion and you can really see that, for example; the draping company after they set up, accidently grabbed my menus which were to be displayed on the tables. When the Caterer arrived and had asked for the Menu's Nancy quickly figured out that the Draping Co. must have accidently grabbed my Menus as they were packing their stuff up. She called the Draping Co. made sure they return back to Clearwater (from Tampa) to bring back the Menus. She was there throughout the entire day making sure my wedding is 100% disaster free. Another example, my flower girl had misplaced her flower basket, it was literally minutes before the event was to begin, Nancy went in the back grabbed a basket form the storage and made sure the ceremony begins on time. And ill never forget the time where I completely forgot to inform her that I will be having champagne flutes at my wedding (Although my wedding was Alcohol free) I still wanted sparkling juice in the flutes for presentation. The day of, the caterer approached Nancy about the sparking juice (which was not discussed with Nancy previously). Nancy had someone go out and get sparking juice for all of the guests at no charge to me. She said that it was my day and I should get it my way. She told me not to worry about a thing, I had no idea she would go out of her way to make sure my day is perfect! I cannot thank her enough for making my wedding day go from a possible disaster to a fairytale wedding I have always dreamed of. I believe every bride should be treated this way on her wedding day, it is stressful as it is and having people like Nancy who are so passionate and truly care is a blessing. read more
