Went here for a tint installation. Good price, process went smoothly. Happy with the results. 4 stars instead of 5 because they took longer than expected. I dropped my car off at 9:45 and I got a call to pick it up around 5. I was told it would be a 3 hour job, plus an hour or so for the film to set. Besides that, went great. Under new Ownership one always wonders if they can expect the same kind of service as the previous owner. Tommy was hard to beat - knows his clients and will do things to cars that most won't, but more to the point can't. Along comes Rob and he doesn't skip a beat - the shop is running strong and quality and ability remain a cut above anything out there. The skill set is unique - shops willing to break apart a brand new car and make it better....sure you can find Stereo shops that will hack in a new deck for cars that need the help....but what about the new cars that have a NAV head unit integrated into the dash - nothing off the shelf will fit so how do you make that better....well, they know, and they do. Dont like your ride height; engine tune; exhaust; wheels; window tint; custom interiors; color of your car....if you can think it, they can do it. The shop is always full. And, when you look at the roster of cars, you see Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi...its basically a photo shoot for the Robb Report. The line up shows you your car is safe and in good company, but thats where it stops. You'll get no pretentious behavior from these guys - no matter your ride you are treated with every bit of respect the owners of those aforementioned cars are extended. Its just that simple. Had them install a Android Auto-compatible head unit. Let me just say that I like the work they did placing the microphone above the rearview and hiding the cabling. That was the work I didn't want to spend time doing, the quality of the work was very clean, and the price charged very reasonable. The center dash assembly is easily accessible, but credit to Kartunz, all the wires were well organized and clean. (I took the whole thing apart after I got home to look at the work, so thumbs up there.) Would have been a 5-star review if not for one mistake. As an Android Auto unit, I need an accessible way to plug in my USB cable. I purchased a cable from Amazon that would fit in the 12 volt outlet (as an alternative to drilling a hole somewhere) but the cable I bought didn't work. I brought it along with me to Kartunz as an example of what I wanted, hoping that they might sell one, but made it very clear that the cable I brought did not work and absolutely not to install it. (I mentioned this several times. Mistake #1 on my part may just have been not taking the cable out of the car so there would be no confusion at all) As the three-star review suggests, they installed the malfunctioning cable. When I picked up the car, my second mistake was probably that I should have just told them to fix it right then, but knowing what an easy fix it should have been, I let it go. So, when I got home to find that instead of using the existing and included clips and screws to secure everything in place, they used super glue to attach the not-working cable into the outlet, including a plastic ring that was part of the original 12v outlet assembly that normally clips into place but is now attached permanently (and 180 degrees off) to the shift boot bezel. I made a second trip to them for help removing the cable (acetone wasn't working), and they got the cable assembly off not but not the plastic ring. Superficially, everything looks fine but it looks awful from the back, may cause issues in the future if I want to use the port for other things and can't remove the ring, and I'm hoping I can still get a refund on the bad cable when it's covered in dried glue, acetone stains, and scuff marks. The owner and staff has been friendly and seemed to be pretty understanding every time, but as silly and as stupid a little thing this is, it's just annoying that it's even an issue in the first place. read more

I was recommended to this place after my friend had her new radio poorly installed from Curcuit City. When I walked into their facilities, their store was very welcoming and inviting for all ages. They have a movie set up playing full time, so it is very inviting for kids to watch if their parents are working, or it is just nice for you to sit back and relax. The work staff is very fair and they actually have you come over to the car if there is something that they need to do, but want to ask you permission first. Ava and Brian are very friendly and are not like other shops in the Bay Area where they make you feel alienated for not knowing your vehicle inside out. We had a 2015 JGC Altitude blacked out with vinyl wrap and the front grill and rear taillights painted to color match the rest of the vehicle. We also had the Jeep lowered on Eibachs and matte black wheels to finish the look. Ava was more than willing to help us find a wheel/ tire combo best suited for what we were looking for. I also had my truck's suspension looked at before a trip. Love the look of the Jeep and turns heads everywhere we go! I took my 2008 CL600 to M-B® of Pleasanton - they referred me to this place, where they referred all customers who wish to aftermarket/upgrade their vehicles. They "supposedly" do anything, from window tinting, selling & installing(?) outrageous rims, selling & installing new car stereos & sounds, who knows what else. But THAT, SHOULD HAVE been my first clue - that they are NOT specialists, IN ANYTHiNG ! Clearly something I should have deduced, before I got robbed. I bought my CL in 2007 from M-B® of Coral Gables (Miami), FL, where I lived at the time. After the purchase, I was assigned to a man who would go over ALL the bells & whistles of my new toy. Kind of cool & very clever, as I was going from a Lincoln Mark VIII, to my 1st M-B®, & had no clue, how to access the incredible functions in this new vehicle. They did this w/ ALL new car owners - which one could obviously opt out of. This same gentleman, owned Intercel®, which did these audio/video/radar/tv upgrades on high end vehicles. It was a match made in heaven for M-B® - they probably paid nothing for the concierge post-sale classes, & this guy, hooked up w/potential customers who wanted stereo upgrades. The guy's company did top notch, impeccable, after-market work -as expected. They KNEW the M-B tech, like us doctor's know the human body. M-B of Coral Gables didn't fool around - the dealership was an A+ organization, as well as anyone they recommended you to. Well, it "did" work that way - in Miami (M-B® of Coral Gables). So I moved here to the Blackhawk area, expecting the same. N O T. From the Pleasanton M-B® to the idiots they recommended for aftermarket work - what a huge disappointment. I had my sound & video upgraded in Miami by CARTRONiCS®, again M-B® recommended (after Intercel® closed) prior to moving here - impeccable service, yet again. Is it so hard to be reputable - ? I had two different consecutive companies - BOTH were A+ - in South FL. One expects a reputable professional referral after spending so much money on these vehicles. So, this company, Kar Tunz, recommended by losers M-B of Pleasanton, tells me they'll install my apple®TV in the vehicle - no more than two, perhaps three hours, for $200-300. They had a week, before my appointment, to research YouTube, where they teach you how to do it. You got it - they had NO CLUE what they were doing. I was there, 8-hours, from opening till closing, and they STiLL did not perform, what was verbally contracted for. They had NO CLUE. They charged me almost $600, stating I could apply the cost, when I come back - when they have time to figure out how to do the job - apply the $600 towards my next visit. Can you imagine. The audacity - the cohones - the balls - the greed !!!!!! To make it worse, they are so greedy. You can be having a conversation w/the guy at the front desk, regarding YOUR work to be done, when someone walks in the front door. He suddenly DROPS you, like you're some homeless person, looking for a handout. Seriously, mid-conversation, just drops you, like you're a piece of ----. This was not once - but MANY times, that this happened. People, I hope I haven't wasted my time, here. I'm trying to protect the consumer here. These people DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOiNG. Unfortunately, I had a different experience with Kar Tunz than most. I brought my car in to have a headunit installed- something pretty straightforward and barely as complex as some of the other work these stores do. The price was fair and the staff was friendly enough, but within 30 minutes of picking up my car, I noticed the rear speakers weren't putting out any sound. This should have been obvious to Kar Tunz if they checked their work. I brought the car back and they fixed it without giving me any grief (or an apology). However, the next day I pressed the eject button to remove the headunit's faceplate, and the entire headunit sinks into the dash. They didn't secure the headunit! At first I thought they were just negligent, but now I think they're incompetent. At this point I'm frustrated with Kar Tunz's sloppy work, and also experiencing some new electrical issues with my car, so I went somewhere else to have the headunit reinstalled. The car and stereo function perfectly now- sound out of the rear speakers AND the headunit is actually screwed in. That's not asking too much is it? Kar Tunz and their non-existent quality control wasted my time and money. Go somewhere else. read more

I changed car audio system in Kar Tunz. At first, they asked me about $1800 with two Bose speakers. Later, they charged me about $2200 with cheap $120 speaker. Also, I asked them window tilting. Their invoice was $800 but when I asked same 3M to store in Fremont, their invoice was $500.. They put USB port into port 2 not port 1. I could not update firmware. I went to KarTunz to have my after-market speakers installed to replace the factory units that came with my car. I got my speakers from Crutchfield.com, and KarTunz installed them for me. Not only did they do a fantastic job, but they are also the most reasonably priced among car audio installation. My Mitsubishi was in the company of 7 Series BMW's, SLK Mercedes Benz's, Jaguars, Maserati's and Porsche's, but it didn't matter as I still got the same excellent customer service! Tommy, the owner, even Emailed me a few days before to squeeze me into the week's schedule so they could install my speakers right away. The install was done BUT: -BIG SCRATCH on my driver's fender (Working with insurance and credit card) -Car's clock no longer lights up -They forgot my items out from trunk, had to return to next day to pick up. Had set an appointment a week in advanced and when brought my vehicle in they had no record of my appointment and was told by the front desk to come back the next day. So there I was the next day, handed my car off and asked if it would be finished by the end of the day and the person behind the counter(who I wont say his name) told me it would be done. about 5 hrs later I get a call that my car would not be able to be work on and I would have to come back in AGAIN.... Front desk help is a F - they need a little more training and organization. Then again if I had a million $ car I'm sure it would have been a different story. Must read review! I will start out by saying KarTunz is the real deal. There is a reason why their clients include professional athletes and your likely to see an Aston Martin or Bentley GT in the shop. After doing my homework and choosing KarTunz over every other shop in the bay I decided to turn the keys to my brand new 2011 STI (with less than 100 miles) over to Chris and Tommy. Couple quick points: These guys walked me through ever detail of the decision process and were very knowledgeable. They matched me up a custom designed system that exceeded my every expectation. What it boiled down to is... Their attention to small details no other shop would of even considered doing. For example, all my steering wheel controls were integrated with the head unit, even my built in auxiliary plug located in my console was connected, they ordered the exact factory mounting kit so my 7" inch screen looks like a factory install, and hand built a custom fabricated Fiberglass box that fits perfectly in the side of my trunk virtually conserving all my trunk space, and custom fitted my amp out of sight in the wheel well space! Finally, to take it over the top, they stayed late Friday night, because they promised delivery by Saturday, and surprised me by matching the custom built sub-woofer enclosure to my leather seats (black leather with red stitching). So I have the sleeper of all systems! Looks factory (which is exactly what I wanted), operates like factory, but rocks crystal clear goodness! With that said it is very easy for me to highly recommend KarTunz and they have earned my trust and ALL my future business. Other services done concurrently were Tint and Clear Bra. - Tint job was better than my prior dealership installed tint jobs. 3M tint (The Best!) used, and they left no gaps (most tint installs leave about 1/8" gap). Clear Bra was installed, ...funny story, I thought they forgot to install but turns out the Bra was installed flawlessly that I was unable at first glance to notice that it was there! There was not so much as a single hint of bunching or bubble anywhere, and I got the full bra which includes the entire front end, grill included. Anyway, you get the picture. read more

Kar Tunz did an awesome job installing my DVD/Navigation, reverse camera, Bluetooth, IPOD receiver on my G35. Their installation was very clean. The price was awesome and the service outstanding. I bought my receiver online at an official dealer. It arrived and asked Kar Tunz to install it for me. They took about 4 hours to complete the whole system installation job. However, after taking the car home and testing the features the navigation portion was not working. The maps were not showing on screen. I took the car back another day and they troubleshooted the receiver and found out the receiver was defective. I asked them to take the unit off the dash and I was going to send it back to the online store I got it from. After a few weeks I received my replacement unit from the online store and asked Kar Tunz to install it again. They installed it at no extra charge, which is nice because it was not even their fault that the receiver I got was defective..Ever since the whole system has been working perfect! I would recommend Kar Tunz to anyone needing to install some electronic upgrades to their vehicles. They go the extra mile in keeping you happy and do an excellent job with their installations! read more

I just moved here several months ago from Miami and was refferred to Tommy, the owner of KarTunz. I needed some work done on 2 of my cars. A 2005 F430 Spyder and a 2010 Audi S5 Cab. My friend said he was the best around so I met Tommy at the store where we went over some concerns and options for both cars. He was honest, straight up with me and gave me his proffessional opinion on what he thought would be best for me, not his bottom line which I very much respected. I was really impressed with the way he treated me and I can see why his shop when I went was slammed with nice cars with everything from the regulars, classics and exotics.... I got a clear bra for the Audi, some paint work done on the driver's side and he re-finished my wheels that the previous owner had curbed. The car turned out flawless! The F430, I got new wheels (the old ones were chrome and I went back to the factory wheels), He fixed a few places on the clear bra near the bottom, and like all 430's out there, the undercarriage was badly scraped from entering and exiting driveways and such. This car too came out amazing! I thought I worked with a great shops in MIami but Tommy and his team are the best I've seen and had work on my cars by far. Tesla Dublin recommended that I get in touch with Kar Tunz for a seamless, clean installation of a dash cam for my Model S. And they did not disappoint! Yes, there were some hiccups along the way (i.e. finally getting the camera's Parking Mode sensor to stay "on" after 3 attempts) but Ava and his staff were very easy-going and willing to accommodate. Plus they have a very nice assortment of aftermarket wheels (something to consider come Xmas lol).
