Karaoke 53 - Fun, Affordable, and Worth It! My good friend and I recently spent a spontaneous day at Karaoke 53, and it turned out to be such a fun experience! There wasn't any special occasion--we both just love to sing and wanted to hang out and catch up. We booked a private room for 2 hours, and it was $17 per person, which was still a great deal for the amount of fun we had. One of the nice perks is that you're allowed to bring your own food, so I ordered some takeout from a nearby Chinese restaurant. While you can't eat or drink inside the actual karaoke room, we were still able to enjoy our drinks beforehand, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The song selection was impressive--tons of choices across different genres--and the staff quickly helped with any technical issues or song concerns. We basically turned our session into a two-hour concert, laughing, singing, and making memories. It was also a great way to reconnect with my friend since we hadn't seen each other in a while. Overall, Karaoke 53 gave us a great time at a fair price. If you love to sing, catch up with friends, or just let loose for a couple of hours, I highly recommend it. Hosted large party of 40 people at Duet 53 because I had a great experience at the duet *35* location last year. There were multiple large parties but I specifically had my reservation under my name and only my name. Another party's host was running late but their guests were sent to my party because they thought my party was the party that was running late. The staff talked to me about increasing the costs since I had 'gone over the intended 40 people.' I had talked to Ai at the front desk and she was extremely helpful and we worked out a solution. I do have issues that staff didn't check with me before sending them my way. I had to talk to people who weren't invited to my group and had to remove them. read more

According to their website, there are 3 locations in Manhattan and open as late as 4am on the weekends! Very clean facilities, nice staff running the place, restrooms were tidy, you'll be surprised how many times you keep answering the phone to extend another hour or so! A good Karaoke option in Hells Kitchen. Staff is nice, and explains how to work the iPad, which is intuitive already, and there's a phone in the room that you can use to call the staff if you need anything. The staff uses that same phone to call your room asking if you want to extend/ a 10 minute warning before your room time is up. I do like the modern technology of using an iPad that is very easy to search songs and add to the queue. Unfortunately there is no way to skip the entire queue and play one song on demand (ie. if you've reached your time limit and want to do a specific final song), but that's def not a dealbreaker. The room itself is no frills (no fun lights, no props). For the medium room there is one large table, a couch that wraps around the room, and a tv that doesn't take up the whole wall. Prices are decent - it comes out to be ~$8 per person per hour! There is a thorough pricing sheet on the website to reference. I cannot say the same for prices of drinks...one soju bottle is $19 (AHH!!). So... come prepared. read more

Song list was extensive and there's a small menu of snacks and drinks, although we didn't care for it as we'd eaten before we arrived. On top of that, the new duet system doesn't include a lot of the songs that we prefer. This is an end of an era for us. I have been to other Karaoke DUET locations in the past (i.e. DUET 34 and DUET 48) and always been satisfied with my experience. I recently came here for the first time a few days ago and had a great experience as well. The staff will check your COVID-19 vaccine card and ID prior to entering. The rooms were nice and clean. The sound system and microphones were in good. You would have to use their iPad to select songs. The price is pretty cheap and is based on the room size per hour. When we went in, the host greeted us right away. She asked for our IDs, my niece was 18 so she informed us we would have to leave by midnight which was fine with us because we got there at 9pm. The second host lead us to our room and showed us how to use the tablet to get our song selection going and then we were left to sing our hearts out. The ambiance was great! The only thing I didn't like was how there was a long strip of glass on the door so people walking by can see you and your party. I think they should do away with it or cover it since they already have a camera installed inside the room itself. A super fun karaoke experience! My friends and I booked the room for 2 hours and the room was clean and service was very convenient. They had all the menus on QR codes and you can scan and order and pay right from your phones. It was truly contactless! They also had disposable covers for the microphones. The song list was comprehensive and you can search and add songs to the queue using the iPad included in your room. This is a good karaoke option in midtown that's not located in k-town. But unlike the other budget karaoke places in K-town, this one is NOT BYOB, and they have converted all song lists to digital. While I am all for being environmentally friendly and covid friendly, it is hard to search for songs when the wifi signal is weak, and the search results were hard to navigate on the phone. You have the option to perform the search on the iPad, but there is only one, and it also acts as the remote control. The price for person wasn't too bad at $7/hr. Corona was $7 as well. I will probably stop by ktown in the future for a more authentic experience. read more

It's a pretty standard and basic Karaoke Bar. It's not particularly inclusive with their song selections. They do have international artists and songs but they're not updated with recent charts. The staff are very nice, helpful and quick with orders. They provide utensils since you can bring outside food. Their drinks, however, are extremely watered down. The facilities and rooms are clean (a bit weathered) but again, pretty basic. I prefer the karaoke bars in K-Town. read more

This place was a great place for me because I have never done karaoke and it had all the basic tools and services that is required for a karaoke place. The price seems fair but confusing at first because at first we were told you pay for a room but some reviews has said that you pay as a person, I will probably have to go again to make sure that. The communication and service was great, they will call you 10 min early to let you know that your time is about to be over but the food is quite expensive (maybe because I am college student ?) . They do provide you free water service with Ice, which is really good, because after singing, I don't have to pay for water. But you can't take your water and drinks in the room, instead they will give you a ticket for your items, so you can receive it back later. As for the Songs, they provide diversity. But the Diversity is not what they claim. The Diversity they had were Asian Songs and English songs, they also had a International section as for "other" languages but couldn't quite find anything there. They said they have international Indian songs, they apparently only had maybe one or two Indian song. As for Korean songs, I wish it they Roman Hangul (English lettered Korean) so if a foreigner can't read, they can read the hangul. I think this should be a must because it is target for mostly foreigners who are intersted in Korean culture. I went with my friend who is from Korea and she said this feels mostly target for foreigners and it feels nothing similar they have in korea. For the song choices, some of the background of the video was quite weird, scenes that would not match the music video but some were normal too. It was funny because me and my friend would about to sing and the background wouldn't match so we just end up laughing most of the time,lol. Overall, It was a great first experience but judging from my friend who is from korea, she said it is quite expensive and nothing similar you would find in korea. They had all most popular songs, as songs from Blackpink,BTS, BigBang,G-Dragon, etc. Also they had some k-drama OSTs too, which was shocking but fun. Clean rooms, good prices, fair song selection. Pricing is currently $9 a person per hour. Open 5pm-11pm on Thurs/Fri/Sat only. The front door is tinted, which makes it seem like the place is closed, but just walk in. There will be a doorman inside to check IDs. After that, head downstairs to the main area. Plenty of private rooms available. You are given your mics and an ipad which is used as the remote to input your music. Volume controls are on the machine itself. Some older reviews on Yelp from years ago have said that there's an online songlist on their website. We were hoping to be able to browse their songs online, but unfortunately the website didn't have anything like that when we checked. When we arrived, I asked the host on duty about this and was told they do not have one. Maybe it's been discontinued? Do come prepared with songs in mind. We were surprised to find no physical song books in our room. Though you'll be able to search by artist or song name, you won't have the ability to browse freely. A minor setback if you are normally used to scrolling through the song selection until you find something you like. Overall 5/5 so far. The cons were not a big deal. This was my first time doing public karaoke (shout out to Pfizer!) Used to come here all the time and nothing much has changed except: - now they only use iPads instead of books which makes sense. - Currently their prices are based on how many people they need for a room (not based on how many people per room - ex. for a room that is made for up to 2 people, if you go on a Thursday it's $14). However, the rates are definitely better than some places. The only major con I'd say is not being able to see the playlist and what's coming up, skipping/canceling songs coming up. It can add up when you're being charged by the hour! Still, service is good and will continue going there! read more

This is the newest location of the Duet karaokes. It is extremely clean inside and modern looking. The sound systems are also top notch. As the place gets older and wear and tear sets in, maybe not. But for now, the sound quality here is excellent. A good tip to keep in mind is that you can also lower and raise the volume of the music and the microphones on the unit itself. I came with two friends and we were actually given a very large room. From what I saw walking past the rooms, the rooms here are a good deal larger than the ones at the other Duets. Their song selection is also one of the best I have ever seen. They have all kinds of genres and are constantly updating their library with newer songs. Another good tip is that you can go on their website and look up songs in their library, and you even get the video number to input into the system. It is more up to date than going through the books on the tables. They have a solid menu of alcoholic beverages and some Japanese food as well. You are even allowed to bring your own food as well. This was my first time going to a karaoke and I had lots of fun with my friends. When you enter, you go down the flight of stairs and you'll enter this big room with a bar on the left and people on the right that have the control panels for each room and the payment area on the right. For a room of three people on a Friday, it was $35 an hour. The room was pretty small but made sense for just the three of us. We walked past plenty of other rooms so I have to say that this place is actually pretty big. There is no age restriction unless it is after 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and from Sunday to Thursdays at 12am to their closing time. No outside drinks or smoking is allowed. Once we entered we were given 2 mics and an iPad that we could use to choose the songs. They had a good amount of songs that you could play and just about eveything we wanted to listen to was there. The rooms are not completely sound proof as we were able to hear the other people in other rooms singing. In order to control the volume and ask questions, we had to call them using one of their telephones against the wall. Just so you know, you should take note of the time that you entered the room as they do not tell you when an hour is up. We came here telling the lady we would stay for an hour but it was almost 2 hours later until we called them and asked how long we have been there for. (We lost track of time hahaha) It probably was smarter to keep track of the time but in other karaoke places, my friend said that they track your time for you. read more

The prices are great $6 per person per hour, they have a full bar and a few snacks which is always great. Drink prices are average. The best part is that there opened until about 3AM. Most people come after a few drinks at a bar which always makes it fun. They do have security on weekends which helps. Just make sure everyone is over 21! Recommend come here for midtown entertainment and singing your heart out. Dropped in here on a Friday night and had an hour wait for 2 people. Went to this bar on the block over and found my friend twinning with someone wearing the same sweater. The songs at duet are good: they have a modern collection and plenty of classics from bands of old like Mariah Carey and the Beatles. They don't have dub like other places maybe due to copyright issues but they you can lower and raise the key of the song. I didn't try it but I bet it can really help your inner Mercury. For snacks they have karaage which is my personal fave. Drinks aren't too pricy. read more
