I've been at this venue twice for shows. Once in the winter time and once in the spring time. I love the indoor & outdoor spaces. There's plenty of room to dance and the staff has always been friendly and accommodating. There are only 2 negative comments... 1. If you're from out of town, you have to know that gratuity is already included on every check. The bartenders won't tell you, so you just have to know that if you want, you can definitely tip additional but it is included already. 2. During the winter event, there was no propane in any of the propane heaters and the outside area was very cold, so bring your coat if you go to a winter show there. My friend celebrated her birthday here and we really enjoyed ourselves. This night they held their spoken word night event with an after party to follow. We paid $30 to park and parked right outside the venue. The staff were friendly. We reserved 3 tables near the stage which provided a phenomenal view of the artists performing. Karma had two options for food by way of a food truck and a Jamaican catering company. We ordered the oxtails, peas and rice, and cabbage. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend Karma DC to those who want a nice night out with friends or that special someone. read more

Before You Even Get In The location is completely unappealing: It's in a shady neighborhood, with broken glass and homeless people. Expect a thorough pat down upon entry; the security screening makes airport security feel relaxed by comparison. Inside the Club: An Abysmal Bar Once you manage to get inside, the bar selection is absolutely abysmal: No Wine: Zero options--no white, no red, and no bubbly. Cocktail Disaster: They either lack the basic ingredients or the staff has no idea/doesn't care to check how to make even a simple cocktail. The only choice is essentially beer or a crude mix: "point to a bottle of hard liquor and then to a juice/tonic to mix it with." The sound quality also leaves a lot to be desired. The Scam of a Seating Section If you decide to pay extra (in our case, double the ticket price) for a table, just forget about it. The club is a single-level space. Depending on the event organizers, there is a very good chance you are paying a premium for a loveseat located behind a standing crowd. Our designated seating section was closer to the bar, half-blocked by pillars. On top of that the organizers refused to put up barriers or enforce different zones for different ticket holders. People who were supposed to be in the standing area kept walking in and standing right in front of our table, completely blocking the view. The organizer's response: "we can't do anything". Sounds to me like, "We won't do anything because we already scammed you". read more

We attended a concert here and the experience was terrible. The worst place I've been to in my pretty long life. At the entrance, they almost strip-search you, patting down everyone, checking every pocket, more intrusive than airport security. We bought tickets for a table of 4 (twice the price of standing tickets). They lead us to the table and there's a loveseat for 2 and a tiny knee-high table. No mistake - that's our spot, all 4-person tables are like that, try to squeeze in somehow. The way the tables are placed (behind the standing room crowd), if you are sitting down - you can't see the stage at all. So, pretty much have to stand up and be in the back. Then the standing room people started to just walk into our (supposedly restricted) area and just stand there. We asked the staff to do something about it and they refused - "there's nothing we can do". OK, go to the bar - they don't sell wine. At all. Only beer and hard stuff. OK, make me a Negroni - we don't have one of the components. Old Fashioned? - I don't know how. Great. Then the music started and guess what? For a supposedly live music-focused venue, the sound was actually not great. read more

I came here for a Saturday night poetry event and it was my first time at Karma. I had been in the area at other local venues but never knew about this spot. It's a great size (smaller than echo stage) and they have a small outdoor space. Outside they had a food truck where I ordered some french fries with honey and old bay. I forgot the name of my bottle girl for the section but she was a sweetheart. Live Music is life and it seems like it's a lot harder to come by now a days so when a night to go clubbing popped up I was like how could I resist! Coming here was interesting in it's own as this venue is tucked away in an industrial complex so it's like really off the beaten path I had to drive around to find it then when I did it became clear as day because they had signs out front pointing you in the right direction so that like totally helped. The only real downside to that is the parking here is really difficult as it's only street parking from what I can tell and that's what I found a few blocks away while this isn't in the best area it wasn't totally the hood either so I just parked on the street and walked over. Once inside I just started to feel the music and get my dance on as it's been a few years since I've gone to the club because of obvious reasons so it felt really good to hear the loud music and the bass. The venue was awesome they have a good lighting set up a few different places to grab a drink and a good sized dance floor for how big the club is as this one isn't huge but it's not super small either. Coming here was all about Metrik one of my favorite DJ's spinning that awesomeness that is EDM making it for a killer night of dancing and just enjoying life the way it should be. Overall this club was awesome I had a really good time here and it just felt amazing to be back in the scene dancing my heart out with all of that said I hope to come back here again at some point as you can't ever really have too many awesome nights dancing at the club! I came here for an event on Memorial Day weekend 2024. I've heard of it before, and knew it was near EchoStage, but tended to avoid it because of the hassle of getting to and from any of the venues in that area but I came out this time because an artist I wanted to see by a production company I enjoy was happening there. My experience was bad enough for me to never want to come to this venue ever again. LOCATION This is in the Langdon Park area of DC, crammed in between a men's homeless shelter and up the street from Echo Stage & Stadium. The location is not great, while waiting in line several men were gawking at us like we were a new exhibit at the zoo while another man consistently walked around panhandling for cash. The venue does not have any clear signage, so it really felt like I was driving into a scene from City Confidential for a moment there. Its dark, few side walks and no other way to really get here other than driving or Uber/Lyft - and for the latter its a hot mess at the end of the event to get one. PARKING There is a venue parking garage up the road but park at your own risk. There's some possible street parking further up from the venue, but you got to get there early to get it and again, park at your own risk. VENUE This venue plays well into the "don't trust a place with a grass wall" saying. It focuses a lot on cheap asethetics over quality, function and a good experience for guests. There's an entryway thats not clearly labled, and for events it appears they don't really have a well-versed events team nor events signage to assist the artist and their team with keeping things organized and orderly. So you'll have to go around asking a bunch of people the same questions and you *might* get the right answer. After you've navigated the first circle, you enter the patio, the second circle. Its ok. No shading so if you're here during the day prepare to be baked. At night it might be cozy and ok though. Entering into the venue you past a small Hookah bar before entering the main event space. There's two bars in the back where you can order overpriced and watered down drinks, a small 'vip' section to the right of the stage that has pillars and speakers blocking your view of the sate, and restrooms to the left. There's a set of couches lined up against the wall leading to the restrooms which was the most crappiest of cash grabs ever because its only barrier to those bumbling their way to the restrooms is the magical masking tape outline on the floor indicating where you, the poor peon without an overpriced couch, should be versus the people that overpaid for said privilege. The restrooms are so damn shoddy. Doors that won't close, knobs that don't work, toilet paper dispensers that don't dispense. I've been to dive bars with better restrooms than this. HVAC/HEAT When not at or near capacity, the venue probably is breathable. But when it starts to get near capacity? You can forget it. And don't tell me its difficult to control when other nearby venues, namely Echo Stage, seem to keep the temperature comfortable even when its packed. It straight up felt like a sauana. My hand fan died in the middle of the event and I had to settle for a fold out fan which was something but still couldn't curtail the beads of sweat forming all over me. It got so hot the floors were sweating. I slipped and slided my way around the dance floor towards the entrance where they added another fan and even had the doors open. THE DOORS OPEN DURING SUMMER. Because OUTSIDE was cooler than INSIDE. Did they cut the price on getting a good ventilation system here to maximize profits? Even the artist had to yell several times that the venue was boiling them with this insane heat. So, while the artist was great, this venue was hellish and I never want to darken its doorstep ever again no matter who is playing there. I'd rather catch that same artist in a different city than go back here again. read more

I went here for an event. Overall, the event was ok, but I'm eating my experience at the venue. Security was cool when we first walked in. The area doesn't really provide good areas for parking. The drinks are too expensive for not high quality. They need to change that. The restrooms were dirty and the ambiance isn't even that great. Attended an Afrobeats day party. The party was scheduled to start at 2 pm and entry was not open until 2:45 pm. No food service was on site and food truck did not arrive until 6 pm. Drinks were quite expensive.. $16 for a 6 oz drink. Bathroom facilities were clean. Hookah was onsite and a reasonable price. They have an outdoor space that offered bar top tables. Must buy a table to have a seat. Nice big dance floor. This would be a nice place for an event space. read more

I saw Candiace Dillard Bassett here for her album release party and no matter where you stood you saw her and well! This is a pretty nice venue in the northeast DC area. The location is modestly hidden on a side street next to some of the more popular DC club and event venues, however it provides a nice alternative to those places. I recently attended a Caribbean music event and never got that overcrowded or overwhelmed feeling a lot of venues cause even amidst the large number of attendees at this particular event. The bars were conveniently located on the left side as soon as you enter with ample seating and vip areas surrounding the stage while still leaving enough space for dancing and enjoying the performances taking place on the main-stage. This club is my new spot! The DJ went from Soca, Afro beats, rap, and R&B with easy. He gifted the crowd with words of positivity, love and words of Power. His messages were so deep! Best DJ in the DC area hands down. The crowd did not want to leave went the party was done. You will definitely dance up a sweat! I believe that night someone danced off their shoes, lol! If I could give less than one star, I would. I went to this club because an artist I love was performing there. It was an embarrassment of ineptitude. I paid additional for VIP Meet & Greet tickets. Even though the tickets stated 7pm and I paid extra for the VIP skip the line access, we waited in line in a seedy street in a seedy part of town for over an hour before being let in. There was zero signage of any kind to indicate separate lines. The performer who I was dying to see was incredible, and his voice was amazing. The club however had some sound issues periodically. The venue itself was bare and rinky dink. Not the posh VIP venue we were expecting. The "special VIP" section was on the side of the stage and half blocked by pillars and speakers, etc. After the end of the performance we were instructed to line up on the other side of the club for the meet and greet. Only people with the Meet & Greet wrist bands were supposed to be lining up, but instead everyone did and none of the staff were policing the situation. We were told almost as soon as we got in the line that the performer was overrun with people in the line and we would have to leave. After having paid a large amount for the ability to meet my favorite artist of all time?!?!? There was a security guard telling everyone in line to leave and go to an after party in Silver Spring, MD instead. The artist was not going to this BS after hours party in god forsaken Silver Spring, and neither were we!!!!! We had to maneuver our way through the line to get to meet him, and his entourage was apologizing the entire time saying that the venue was disorganized (understatement of the century). While we were working our way through the line and praying we made it through in time, we heard and saw people without the Meet & Greet wristbands conning their way through the line. Why charge extra if you are going to let everyone through? This was the shadiest place I have ever been to and it was poorly run and mismanaged. Seeing my favorite performer was a bucket list item for me and his performance was spectacular. But I will NEVER go to this scam venue again! read more

Came to this place for an after party last night. The tickets were ridiculously over priced and the line was crazy. They separate us "males and females" and I felt like I was in jail. I came here last night for a poetry event which started around 6:30pm (so most folks just got off of work who attended) and while I was there I witness three people pass out one female was with her partner and completely collapse her partner then starts to yell out for help a few attendees as well as security guard came to assist the couple and carried the young lady outside as the night proceeded another pair of ladies walk pass my table (standing table) and one almost knocks the whole table over from trying to keep from falling her friend asks her "are you good'' she replies "NO I DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON" they proceed to walk outside to the back area where one or the security officers calls for assistance with getting the young lady some water because she's about to pass out his words exact '' can I please get a water this young lady is about to pass out" the security helps her and the night still goes on the third time a guy passed out and security had to assist him with going outside I then decided to ask what's going on here this is my third person I've seen that hasn't been okay a female security guard with redish/brown locs with glasses says " IT"S NOTHING GOING ON HERE IT'S WHATEVER YALL TAKING THATS WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING!'' very rude very insensitive and unprofessional I will not be attending that establishment again I recommend if you do decide to attend here to PLEASE BE CAREFUL idk if they're cleaning their hookahs out properly or what was causing folks to fall out but please be careful attending this place of business read more

i wouldn't recommend this place! they will scam you! i got a table at this place for a friends birthday & they continuously charged my card for $325. once i mentioned the money had already came out of my account. the "manager" stated this happens all the time and that the money will be posted back in my account. so, we paid another $325. i've been in contact with the manager mike who has since stopped responding! do not go here! they will scam you! the vibe was cool but you can go somewhere where you don't have to worry about getting scammed. read more

I will start off by saying this place is a complete scam. My friends and I had previously bought tickets to 50 shades event on June 13th, which then got canceled the day of for no specific reason and rescheduled to July 17th which is particularly random seeing how it is over a month out. Anyways, they said refunds could be issued however each staff member kept referring you to someone else with no solution. Finally, July 17th is here and there is no event, nor any follow up on the reasoning as to why. I definitely do not recommend since I have already heard sketchy things about Karma. read more
