As much as I wanted a locale small business to work, this place I will never go to again. My niece picked up my 2 black shorts that were just getting zippers put in. One week after the pickup date. I got home and I got one short and someones black pants. The shorts zipper was the original after they delayed my shorts cause the zippers have not arrived yet. After a few weeks and many calls and NO call backs like they said they would, I showed up one Saturday and they still can't find my other pair of work shorts, she states the zipper in my shorts I got back was changed (which it wasn't). They leg seem wasn't fixed like I asked. I still haven't recorded a phone call stating they found my work shorts. Yes she refunded my money back, Burt besides that, I'm out a work short that isn't made anymore and my shorts (short) isn't fixed. Will never come back here. POOR BUSINESS read more

ALTERATIONS CUSTOMERS BEWARE: CLAUDIA at KARMUCHA CREATIONS (US Hwy 1 in Port Saint Lucie) is the WORST & MOST DISHONEST TAILOR I've ever encountered. I would have given zero stars if I could. Take a look at the photos of my husband's shorts that Claudia insists she altered properly. And this was her second (re-done) version of her "professional" handiwork. Despite repeated requests, Claudia has failed to refund my money. You may want to consider going elsewhere for your alterations. She was given over 6 weeks to add a modesty piece and remove the bust/flatten out the boobs in my daughters dress. Paid in advance for the alterations. The Friday before formal we went to pick up the dress and she couldn't find it. She got it to us at 7 pm and the modesty piece was a cheap piece of fabric that was sewn so poorly the seems we're already pulling and the fabric didn't remotely match the dress. She also didn't do anything to the bust. I was up till midnight fixing it and resewing for my daughter who had a melt down and refused to even put it on. Will never use her again. read more

Karmuchas is without a doubt the best place to go in Port St.Lucie for alterations! They come from a long line of family that does outstanding work! I am a captain with the fire department, been on the job for 28 years, and I've been using them throughout my entire career. I am the Co-commander of my Fire Department honor guard, and we have been using them to do alterations for our class A uniform jackets and pants for years. They are absolutely outstanding. I have seen them work magic with a dress uniform, duty pants , evening or wedding gowns-Karmuchas is the best around! I brought my gi here April 8th, 2022 to have the sleeves on the jacket shortened and try and have the pants widened. I brought an extra gi to use the material from to help if needed. The day she said the gi would be ready for pick-up I went in to get them. I was very understanding that they were not ready yet and that it may take some time because of what I was asking, in the meantime she said I could go ahead and take the jacket. For the alteration on the jacket she folded the material in and did not remove the excess material then put 1 line of stitching about 2-3 inches in on the sleeve. I told her this was unacceptable and that the material needed to be removed and the stitching in the right place. When I went back to get my jacket & i had gone on Amazon to buy a pair of black gi pants that dont match just to have something. When I went back to get my gi pants after having to call to see if my pants were ready on May 9th, 2022, the pants were close with a few tweaks here and there that needed to be done. By the time the pants were almost there the material on the inner thigh was so bunched up it was uncomfortable. The lady working on my pants stated that she would get some material over the weekend, start over and have them done by Tuesday. I gave her my phone number again and asked her to call when they were done. By that Friday May 20th, 2022 I had no phone call so I went down there & when I walked into the shop and the lady saw me she said oh no Monday . I was so upset I could not even say anything and turned around and walked out. On June 22nd, 2022 I still had not heard anything about my pants being ready. I wrote a letter explaining my terrible experience there and how at this point I would just like to be given a check for the amount of the gi to replace what was damaged. Today June 27th, 2022 I got a call from Bill stating that they would return the pants to their original state and I could come in and pick them up. Not only that but the stitching that was done on the jacket sleeves is terrible. There are threads hanging down every which way. I keep cutting them off and feel like eventually that the stitching will just fall out. read more

The previous 2013 and 2015 reviews must have been talking about the wrong tailor. I almost believed them and didn't go to Karmucha. However, I am glad I tried them. Unlike the previous review, they are very reasonably priced and have their own tailor that does the work on site. Their work was completed on time and in fact earlier than stated and with good workmanship. The owner was extremely pleasant and accommodating. I would not hessitate to use them again. I am 5'4" and they beautifully custom tailored 3 shirt which I wasn't aware could be done. They also fitted a suit and shorten some pants. read more

My experience with Karmucha's was the worst experience I've ever had with a business of any kind. Ever! I moved to town a few months before my wedding and needed a seamstress to alter my wedding gown. On the recommendation of a well-intentioned stranger, I took the dress to Karmucha's. The woman who did my fitting seemed knowledgeable and I was encouraged to see the business has been around for so long. But the old woman pictured on the website doesn't seem to be around any more. Instead, the shop is run by a young mother-daughter pair, neither of whom know what they are doing when it comes to tailoring a wedding gown. What's worse, they have an unwarranted confidence in their own abilities which far outweighs their actual skill set. The daughter did my initial fitting and I was called three days later to tell me the dress was finished. I was surprised because I heard wedding gown alterations take a lot of time, but she said I just had to come in to have the bustle installed and it would be finished. The dress was a disaster. It was a strapless and they fit the bodice so it was tight at the top and loose at the bottom by several inches--NOT a flattering look. The daughter even told me I could stand to gain 5 pounds before the wedding. The hem was too short and the skirt did not lay properly. She told me repeatedly it was an "optical illusion" and there was nothing they could do about it. Unfortunately I took my reception dress to them as well and that one was totally ruined. They said it would be no problem to change it from a drop waist to an empire waist, but it was definitely a bigger job than they could handle. Good thing it only cost $100. At first I tried to work with them to fix both dresses, but when the seamstress pricked her finger while pinning my dress and continued working, getting blood all down the side of my dress, my mother-in-law insisted we get out of there as fast as possible. I was too stunned to think at that point. When I took the dress to a real bridal seamstress in Jupiter, she practically had tears in her eyes when she told me she wouldn't be able to completely fix it. The hem was too short and they didn't leave enough inside to take it out. But she was able to take down some of the fullness of the skirt to give it some extra length. She also fitted the bodice to a much more flattering shape and completely redid the bustle (thank goodness!!). She charged me less than what Karmucha's was charging, even though she had to rush the whole thing since my wedding was in less than two weeks. I've never completely stiffed a business before but there was NO WAY I was giving Karmuchas any money for the work they did on my dresses. I tried to explain to the owner why I didn't think I should pay. I even printed out before and after pictures of the dress so she could compare them side by side. She accused me of scheming the whole time not to pay. She was also incredibly rude to my mother-in-law who is officially one of the most kind-hearted souls on the planet (and that's coming from her daughter-in-law so you know that's saying a lot). You might be okay taking a pair of pants to be hemmed here, but why bother when there are so many other reputable seamstresses out there? read more

This is one I've the best tailors I've ever been to! At the last moment my boss asked my to attend a meeting. I took my suit in to Karmucha's, explained that I needed the suit in a day, and they were able to accommodate my rush request. Excellent quality of service and craftsmanship. UNPROFESSIONAL, SHODDY workmanship and ridiculously high pricesI I brought in a brand new gown for them to hem. The gown had a liner and a beaded chiffon type overlay. Three weeks later I pick my dress up, try it on at home with my shoes and realize that the right side of the dress is 3/4 to an inch shorter, than the left side. The hem sloped from the right to the left. With the left side being the correct length!! The cut of the chiffon material was jagged and completely inconsistent in length. Some sections were rounded, and others were a straight cut! The vertical seams going down the dress, that were cut through at the bottom, were not reinforced and were already coming apart. Bring it back the next day. These were the exact excuses from the seamtress: "If the hem is lopsided than that is the manufacturers fault, I followed their line", "We are very busy", "I have been working 75 hours a week because of prom", "Because of the folds in the dress it was difficult to cut". UNBELIEVABLE! After another fitting they measured and pinned the hem in an attempt to straighten it. The dress is now going to be SHORTER than I wanted, but obviously I am stuck with the butcher job or throw my brand new $350 dress out! Still not ONE APOLOGY from the staff! Picked it up the next day. Brought it home and was shocked to see that the liner was now hanging out from under the top part of the dress in places. Only in places because the hem was STILL not straight!!! The seamstress cut another inch, or inch and half, from the dress but did not bother to address the liner that is now longer in places than the overlay. This is suppose to be a professional shop? Spoke to the owner who didn't introduce herself when she answered, and refused to give me her name even though I asked multiple times. I introduced myself immediately but she just rudely called me "lady". She went from speaking in a heavy hispanic accent, to the accent disappearing halfway through the conversation. Who does that and why? So unprofessional and disrespectful to a customer! She said I had a bad attitude (you think? you ruined my dress) and was yelling at her (I wasn't. She just wasn't hearing what she wanted to hear) so she was not refunding my money and that I accepted the dress, therefore she did not have to do anything. She then hung up on me. Karmucha's Alterations is the most unprofessional, and immature conversation I have ever had with a so called business owner! I was warned by multiple people that they thought the business had changed hands and not to go there. That their prices had skyrocketed and the workmanship had tanked. They were so right! read more
