But is the company reputable? And do you really want to go with a relatively new company even if is owned by your buddy. He decided, no. Newman is competitive with hundreds of 5 star reviews. He went with Newman. Subsequently we had a hail storm and neighbors were advising us to get our roof checked out. Our roof was 20 years old. I wanted to be honest with the insurance company and not submit a claim unless Tyler from Newman,who came out to give us an estimate, was sure we needed a new roof and we suffered damage beyond normal wear and tear. Plus we had 2 houses. Well one needed a new roof and the other one likely has another couple of years left. As an aside, if you turn in a claim to your insurance company, even if it is denied, you risk higher premiums or cancelation. That is why it is important to have Newman Roofing spend time assessing. In our case, our roof was more wear and tear with minimal hail. Dan and his guys were on time, even early. Weather has consistently been in the mid 90's. I was worried. But Newman keeps them well supplied with hydration. 14 man crew meant lots of vehicles, even a dump truck but they were minimally disruptive to our neighbors. Furniture moved, netting put up to minimize construction mess on house and garden areas. And then they went to work. All I can say is WOW. I am so pleased. When they were finished, the cleaned up all the mess, including using a magnetized thing for nails in driveway, patio and grass. The yard, the patio, the driveway, the porches are SPOTLESS. I highly highly highly recommend Newman Roofing. They did my kid's. They did this roof and in 2 years they will do our other roof. Price is good too.

Indo not recommend letting them anywhere near your property if you're selling. They are interested in showing a lot of unnecessary repairs "needed" to get you to lower your price for the buyer. I'm getting ready to sell my next house and they will not be allowed on my property ever again.

The following are items missed in the inspection report:…read more - Water heater covers were not installed, which exposes live electrical and is unsafe. - Plumbing around the water softener was leaking and a plumber had to be hired to repair. - Flush handle on the toilet gets stuck and constantly causes the toilet water to drain. - Several shower heads were plugged and had to be replaced. - Water softener was completely out of salt and peroxide, therefore it was not even working. - All electrical boxes in the basement were missing covers and exposing dangerous live electric. - Outlets in basement are missing ground wires. Electrician had to be hired to rewire outlets. - 10amp romex wire is going into an electrical box that's rated for 15amps. - Kitchen outlets near sink are not GFCI, neither are their breakers. - Barn light switch has no cover and is exposing live electrical wires. - Majority of Barn receptacles have no cover and are exposing live electrical wires. - Some siding is coming off the barn. - Inspector did not inspect barn attic. - Inspector did not inspect barn roof. - Broken/cracked outlet covers throughout house. At least 10ea. - The wood flooring in the main living room shifts when you walk on it at certain spots, flooring will need to be removed, then repaired. - Air-infiltration is occurring in basement around doors due to no sealing around frame. - Doors had small holes in them due to door stops. Doors had to be repaired and Door stops were missing rubber bumper and had to be replaced. - Sink is missing garbage disposal. - 2 of 3 Garage lights were burned out. - 2 constant leaks in basements - Signs throughout the house on the ceiling of water leaking through roof. - Light fixtures in the master bathroom were installed upside down, had to be removed and reinstalled correctly. When I paid for this home inspection before buying my house, I hoped for peace of mind and that I'd be buying a home knowing all that is wrong with it... but, that was not the case, so many items were missed, and this is only after living here 2 weeks, who knows what else I will find...
