I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel like feedback is important. I've only had my hair dyed 3 times in the last 2.5 years and I wanted to get it re-balayaged. I was a bit surprised by how much availability kasea had but I booked anyway. The good: Kasea is nice, professional, and made me feel comfortable. The bad: she double/triple books her clients so she was super rushed the entire time bouncing back and forth between me and another person. When she washed my hair, the water was cold because she wouldn't wait for it to heat up which was kind of a shock. When I'm paying $400 for a hair dye, I expect to be taken care of and it almost feel like a self-care experience but I could feel her anxious energy with rushing around. After, she blow dried my hair and offered a trim, and I said yes. She rushed through that as well and by the time I got Home, I realized the trim was sloppy and my ends had varying levels of length. All of these issues could have been solved by taking her time and not bouncing between clients. Also, my hair turned out a bit orange. I ended up flying to Florida for a wedding the following week and getting it fixed. I wouldn't go back to this place. She did an okay job, but If im paying $400, I want it done well. read more

I first went to Kasea about 7 months ago when I decided to go with a really short haircut, plus I needed 10-minute touch-up color along my hairline for grays. I've never had my hair super short, but Kasea made me love my boring hair again with her stylish cut. Recently, I decided instead of color matching, to lighten my hair to manage the increase of grays. I asked for balayage with golden tones and initially I wanted to go almost blond, but because my hair is stubborn, Kasea try as she might, got the tones to be honeyed and a medium to dark blond. It seemed lighter after a few washings, and I'm now in love with the colors and will probably continue going with midtones. As someone who doesn't visit the salon often, I was still looking for stylists who I can trust. This would be my first time doing a balayage. And I was glad to try this place out and having Kasea as my stylist. While other places were not available within the week I asked, Kasea was kind enough to have an opening for me. Although my first call was missed, I was later contacted via text message for an opening and was very kind. It was easy through text as you could also send reference pictures prior to your appointment. And she answers any questions I had. On the day of appointment I felt listened to and not pressured to do any additional touch ups- the price and do was in my control. The price for balayage with full hair blow dry was a bit pricey, but she was so kind to cover for full blow dry even when I asked for part blow dry only. It was a rainy day in Hilo and I was surprised she said she would cover that. She talks to you like a friend and went extra for me. Although it was pricey it was still worth it for me. A referral to a friend also includes a discount next visit. Overall, I was happy with my hair. The hair trim I asked was better than I expected and she was careful with the detail while cutting. It all wasn't too long either in time. I ended up loving my style in the end. Even if it was something subtle. Yes, I would recommend this salon to any friend. read more

I came across Kasea's salon services while searching Yelp for salons that were open on Sunday. I don't have a regular hair stylist since I usually decide to change my hair on a whim haha. Kasea was amazing! I wanted to do a silver ombré with purple roots and I wanted to use the purple dye I got from Arctic Fox. Kasea allowed me to supply my purple hair dye and we went over he look I was going for. I knew the silver wouldn't be achievable right away so she suggested starting my hair transformation with a lighter shade of purple for now. During my appointment we talked about everything from our life stories to favorite foods. It was so easy to talk to her. Kasea is one of the sweetest lady I have ever met. Her passion for hair shows through her genuine willingness to achieve what you want. She communicates very effectively and is transparent in what to expect as a result, based on the state and condition your hair is in before the session. My hair is very dark and would require a few sessions to achieve the actual color that I want, and she was transparent on this so that I can maintain the health of my hair. She also suggested purchasing satin pillows which are great for maintaining hair thickness and health, and skin :) I appreciated her tips and overall genuineness in the health of my hair. I like how her balayage techniques have natural looking results, and are easy to maintain. She really does understand what looks great on different skin tones. Everyone has different types of hair, and although hair photos look aesthetically pleasing, it may not look the best on everyone. With Kasea, rather than getting you exactly what is shown in the example hair photos, she is very honest on what would look good with skin tone and what is a realistic result. This is my honest, unbiased review. I love Kasea as a person but professionally this has been a scary and awful experience for me. I spent $500+ with tip trying to achieve an icy, platinum blonde, which was not an extreme difference from my beige blonde at the time. I showed pictures and asked for a specific color, and made it clear I really didn't want my hair too yellow. I left home after the appointment and my hair was awful looking, and my parents and friends said I should ask to get it fixed. I contacted Kasea who was kind enough to squeeze me in the next day, and was very nice about it. However, I left that day with purple and grey hair. This was 1.5 days before I was scheduled to fly to Europe and I could not stop crying because I felt hideous. I went to a salon in LA and for $350 they put remover in my hair to take out what she had put in, and easily achieved the look I had exactly wanted. I contacted Kasea and asked for a partial refund, as I was out almost $900 for something that shouldn't have been even near half of that. She agreed to do a refund for $250 on the following Wednesday. Two weeks later she had not done it and I had to text her multiple times asking what was up. She did refund me $100 via venmo, and said she would do the rest on Friday. It's now been a couple weeks since then and I am just tired of asking her to do the right thing. Yes, she is very nice and tries her best, but my experience was very bad. Attached are the photos of my purple hair, as well as the photo of my hair after Arianna salon in La fixed it. Update: In response to Kasea: 1. My hair originally with her turned out highlighter yellow, it was absolutely not even close to the same as she says it ended up. My entire family was shocked (and not in a good way). Seeing it in outside lighting and in photos following the appointment, I realized it had to be fixed immediately. She took my hair at the "fix it" appointment from too yellow, to a purple grey grandma looking tone. 2. The second salon saw my photos and nailed it exactly, and I loved the platinum color when It was done right, so to say it is "not for everyone" is quite ignorant of the situation. I had to pay extra money to get what Kasea had put in my hair removed, as well as extra damage treatment. 3. It shows an extreme lack of professionalism to charge someone for a service they not only hated, but had to pay extra to get removed (which damaged their hair immensely in the process). If you pride yourself in being a "color queen" maybe you shouldn't have a no refund policy, that simply shows your lack of confidence in color precision. 4. She did not offer a chance to fix it again afterwards, this is a complete lie. She was in Vegas and I have the messages to prove the soonest she could've "tried" to fix it would've been after my trip to Europe. I did not trust this lady to touch my hair a third time after making it look like I messed up with a box color at home twice, and charging me ($500) double what any other professional salon would. 5. I had my data turned on in Europe, and received texts from many other people, so it is strange to me that only hers did not go through. 6. Last note: extremely unprofessional to say you will venmo someone an amount for weeks, then finally send less than half and make someone go through that amount of trouble to simply follow through with your word (which she still has not), and will not because all she cares about is the bad review, rather than fixing the problem and doing right by the customer, which should be any professional's priority. -nice to offer 10% off for this, very professional, again. I have no words for this lady. I have never had a salon experience close to this bad or costly in my life. read more

My full multi tone highlights and a cut were $270 ($70 was the cut itself). If you're used to $140 cut and colors, be aware that this is more and higher quality. Kasea put all my worries to rest by updating my plain and mundane stick straight black hair with a beautiful balayage and the perfect cut to go with it. She is super sweet and very attentive. So I've got a tricky situation with my hair. Since I've been sick I've been loosing hair. Kasea has helped me transition through this phase with a ton of support and suggestions so I don't have to feel overly self conscious about what I can't change. Everything she has done with my style and color has compensated for the loss and I walk away from the salon unaware of my health challenges when it comes to hair. I am a fan of her color skill set. I've even been to several people locally and while on the road, every once and awhile things turn out okay but more than not the color gets messed up. I don't have to worry about that with Kasea. I have dark shoulder length hair and I went In for a correction and cut. Because of her pricing and positive "reviews" on Instagram etc you go in expecting the results. Overall - she has a polite personality however objectively speaking she is a novice at best. She does not have the skill set for coloring dark (black) hair. My Color turned out to be vastly different from the "Inspiration" pics she requests for. Even if you decide to risk it and have your hair colored by her I would not risk the haircut as she simply does not know how to cut shoulder length hair in layers (unless you always curl your hair). Please do not have this person color your hair. She nickel and dimes you on everything; I showed her a picture of what I wanted done and my hair looked nothing like it. The top layer of my hair was a warm color and the bottom part of my hair was a cool (gloomy) color. I asked for her to fix it numerous times via text. She responds days later and then says can't do it when I'm available. Then she did not respond to my last text. I never complain on yelp about anyone, however I don't want anyone to experience what I went through. Charged over $300.00 for a terrible balayage. Kasea has been a godsend to me and my naturally curly, thick, and dark brown hair. Over the past six months we have lightened my hair from a solid dark brown to an amazing bronde that gets compliments regularly. We have also done a Brazilian blowout which as a professional, it can be extremely difficult to find a hair stylist that understands how to make your hair fun and modern while also being appropriate for work. Kasea has done just that. As for the negative review that another poster left, I happened to be in Kasea's studio when that person came in for her second visit. I distinctly recall her not only being late, but also repeatedly saying that she had changed her mind as to the platinum color and now wanted a gray/ash color which is very popular right now. This stood out to me as the platinum color looked great and I was personally sad to hear that she wanted it gray. Once Kasea finished washing out her hair she indicated that she would like to blow out the person's hair so that she could be certain this is the color she wanted. The person said she could tell the color was what she wanted and was running late for another appointment and could not stay for the blow dry.
