    Plain butter tart
    Sam A.

I have upgraded my review to a full 5 stars. These are truly the best butter tarts. I've even put others into it and they agree that they are absolutely delicious. I've also had their cheddar scones on two separate occasions and they are perfect. I love the texture and taste. They have the slightest sweetness to them. They aren't too crumbly. When you warm them up with butter, it's dream but even if you eat them alone, fresh from the store, they're so good. It's my first stop whenever I come to Streetsville, as there is often a line in the mornings. Mostly due to the fact they only allow 3 people in at a time. But with the nice weather lately, the wait is no biggie.

A solid 3.5 with a special shout out to the butter tart that is a 4 star ... definitely above your average bakery. Cute homey bakery that fills all your grandma style baking craving. Kate's Town Talk Bakery is run by some very sweet ladies and they're quite welcoming. It's a homey feel in the bakery with various tables available to sit down to enjoy a light meal or eat several of their homey sweets. When we arrived, they weren't quite ready for lunch as they had a large order... it was a nice touch to see they make everything fresh and from scratch. For lunch, they normally have Chicken pie, beef pie, spinach cheese pie, sausage roll, soup, and sandwiches made with their in house made bread. In addition to the light lunch items, they have a large assortment of in house made cookies and a few pies and bars. In general, there's probably something for your taste buds! We ordered a chicken pie, peanut butter cookie, pecan cinnamon macaroon, cherry butter tart, plain butter tart, and a rhubarb raspberry pie. Chicken Pie - Homey little pie that satisfies that craving for that home made experience of a creamy interior with a few good vegetables. I hate to compare it to the perfect 5 star Pie Commission because Kate Town Talk version is like nostalgia. It has it's moments when it brings back that fond youthful memories. I did noticed that the pie crust isn't so flavourful so I'm thinking it might be a shortening crust. 3.5/5 Pecan Cinnamon Macroon - Good little crisp cookie. The cookie was really hollow so it makes me think the egg white was beat very very stiff. There was a good amount of shredded coconut in it but I'm not sure if I tasted much of the pecan in it. 3/5 Peanut Butter Cookie - I adore the look of this cookie... it reminds me of what my neighbour's grandma made. Cute indention with the back of the forks and hand formed. This had peanut flavour but the sugar amount was very very high. Possibly too sweet for me. 3/5 Rhubarb Raspberry Pie - The pie interior was a nice tart kick from the raspberries. The bold colour was a nice red foil to the cute maple leaf cut out on top of the pie for Canada's day. I wanted to really like this pie but the crust was a bit of a let down. It was pretty soft and mushy and didn't have much of a flavour. Not sure if this was underbaked or just sitting for a while. 3/5 Cherry Butter Tart - The tart was amusing as it had the traditional explosion of the gooey inside and caramelized over the pastry edges. This crust was definitely more flakier than the pies but it didnt' have a strong flavour so I think they used a shortening to get that flakiness. It still was well made and the sweetness was balanced. It wasn't insanely sweet... it is a butter tart so it's sweet but it wont put you in a sugar coma. I just can't give it a 4 cause I barely tasted any cherry flavour 3.5/5 Butter Tart - Oh yes.. this is the item you come here for. I get the love ... I taste the love for this bakery right here. Gooey, sweet butterscotch interior that lingers and coated up the pastry sides to create a nice caramel edge. The pastry is a pleasant flakey bite ... I would have preferred a butter crust but the gooey interior is a winner. This is quite nice. Solid 4/5 Overall, I'm sure they have more winners here than just the Butter Tart... lots of options for everyone to try and the lovely service puts it best in Streetsville.

Been here only twice so far and have spent over $50 LOL How you ask? Since their prices are so reasonable and good? No self control I say! Seriously though... even catered them for an event because they are that good! Love their sweet scones with clotted cream and jam... partner's family ate 8 in 1 day and there's only 2 of them! Love all their cookies and tarts... I think I've tried them all over the holidays. Will be back for their cupcakes. Their sandwiches and soups are also as great of a deal as they are delicious! Streetsville GEM!!!

Friendly service and their breads are made fresh. Prices are fair. The tomato soup was good and came with 4 slices of bread. The date bar was also very good. My boyfriend had the sausage roll which he enjoyed. They have a ton of cookies and bars to choose from.

Came here for lunch with some teacher friends to grab lunch. I trusted their pick of a place and I was so impressed!! I had no clue this place existed. They had amazing combos that included a drink, treat and your choice of quiche, pot pie, sandwich and salad. I got the turkey sandwich and everything tasted sooo fresh. They had fresh baked goods that were amazing. The service was super friendly and patient. My only complaint was the amount of seating because we came with and group of 6. Other than that, can't wait you come back!

This dessert restaurant is no joke, their menu is so massive it feels like it could rival the Cheesecake Factory's (no exaggeration). While most of it is dedicated to desserts, they do offer food options too, but let's be honest... you come here for the sugar rush. We tried a slice of their Red Velvet Cheesecake, and it was rich, smooth, and everything you want in a dessert. We also ordered a loaded waffle topped with brownies, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, and whipped cream, basically a dessert lover's dream on a plate. Both desserts were fantastic and definitely lived up to the hype. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even with such a huge menu, they made great recommendations. If you're looking for a fun spot to satisfy your cravings, The D Spot delivers.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to, simply because I'm not big on sweets. The cake is light and spongey and absorbs the leche/milk very nicely, and makes the entire cake very moist. Vastly different in texture to other cakes that rely more on cream and icing to balance the sponge cake. I found this cake lighter and a really unique flavour/texture. It's sweet with flavour that has depth (not just by using more sugar/syrup) and the hints of milk, strawberries, cream, etc all mesh really well. Glad to have stumbled across a new fave and I'll definitely be back to try the rest of their offerings.

The texture of the croffles had a crispiness on the outside which made this dessert delightful to take a bite into. We chose the Honeycomb, Tiramisu and White Chocolate Matcha. We thoroughly enjoyed each flavour but a personal favourite of mine would be the tiramisu. My friend's personal favourite was the honeycomb. We're both not into white chocolate but to our surprise, we enjoyed the White Chocolate Matcha flavour as well. The matcha's earthiness really complemented the touch of sweetness of the white chocolate. The cream on top of the croffle was also rich and smooth. The ice cream was a good addition. As mentioned in my previous review, the server was friendly and had a warm smile. The place encouraged people to connect with each other and I thought it was a cozy place to do just that. Even hours later, they were crispy & SO tasty!! The variety of flavours is nice, but the puffs themselves are so delicious that anything added is just a bonus. Decent, but these sweets are not for me…read more I enjoy sweet and even the occasional Timbit, but I found these puffs drenched in oil and super sweet. Overall just very wet and aggressively sugary. In an age where people are trying to eat healthier, I cant really imagine myself coming back for this when I could have a larger portion of more refined sweets elsewhere. Likely a better fit for people with a major sweet tooth or for kids. It's similar to a treat you'd eat at a food truck in a festival or outdoor event. I feel as if I ate an entire week's worth of sugar in one go. The shop itself is pretty modern, spacious, and clean. Sparse seating, lots of mirrors, etc. But the location is great, and there's lots of plaza parking. Staff were ok but very busy with orders. The rest of the menu seems good. Lots of variety of other sweet drinks and pastries, but also items to balance out the sugar like coffee, tea, savoury pastries, etc. Kind of like a crossover between Tim's and Starbucks. I am hesitant to try other items though because of how sweet the puffs were. The pricing is also really steep for the kind of food it is. Personally speaking, Id rather hit Krispy Kreme because those donuts while sugary, don't feel as greasy / heavy as these puffs. For comparison these puffs are around $1/pc and an original donut at Krispy Kreme is around $1.50 An additional minus is the online/app ordering process. I ordered on the app, arrived, and didn't notice any instruction for pickup ( no signage , markers, etc). I waited 10 mins because it was pretty busy, staff were working nonstop, and I had just ordered less than 5 mins ago. I had to ask the staff about my order, and it turned out it was ready all along sitting in a cabinet with frosted glass doors, so I couldn't even tell they had any orders waiting. The app also didnt have a progress bar, just an estimated finish time at time of order. Less than seamless, for sure

I opted for the pistachio and super cookie (biscoff/Oreo) flavours. Outright the portion size is amazing. They pack the cup full and do not hold back. A regular scoop is enough and it's nice you can pick 2 flavours to get some more variety. In terms of flavor, I liked the pistachio as it leaned more towards a subtle and fragrant flavour. The gelato was super creamy and the sweetness was toned down. The super cookie flavour had more pieces and bits in it, so it was more interesting in texture but not as unique in flavour. Also leaned a little more sweet, and was highly similar to a cookies and cream ice cream. But quality was solid for both and the gelato was fresh. Bonus that their points system is easy to use as well - just punching in a phone # Compared to regular ice cream stores, you get better value and quality here. For the same price range, they pack the cup full and most importantly, the flavors are unique. I'm a big fan of uncommon flavours so I liked how bold some of the options were, while others echoed familiar favourites, so there's easily some options for everyone.
