First and foremost, the days they are opened are just weird. Thursday, Friday & Saturday. You heard right people, just those 3 days. For whatever reason that is, it's their business. This place was recommended to us by a close friend. We arrived early for our 7pm reservation, which is funny because the parking lot was completely empty. At first I thought the place was closed, but there was another car in the parking lot. We get in and the place is dead. We later realize that this is just how it is. Aside from placing an order for a couple of appetizers, we all pretty much ordered the steaks. The server must've been new, and I don't normally get on servers, but she was beyond slow. While me and my buddy both finished our beers, we had to ask the same server multiple times for just our 2nd beer. When that beer came and went, she actually asked us if we wanted another to which we both said "yes". To our amazement she had to be reminded a couple of minutes later when we never got our beers. I will just say this, the food was good, it really was. The steaks were all amazing. The appetizers were really good too, but the issue for me was the service. Again, I'm not use to that and I don't mean to pick on them for that, but I at one point just didn't want to bother the server any more. This was due to the fact that 2 other tables became occupied while we were there. So the server was focusing on all the tables. Again, I believe the server was new. This review is also a few months late, as I was holding back from reviewing. Overall, food is great. Just remember, you don't need a reservation, and the service might be slow. But if you're not in a rush, stop in. Owner seemed more than friendly and willing to share stories of the past. read more

Food was very good. Limited selection, but plenty to choose from. Prices were reasonable. My wife and I both had 16 NY strips. With an appetizer & soup before and not being ravenous, we probably could have split a steak. But if you're really hungry, one would be just fine. I am so glad my bf and I decided to have dinner at Kathie and Glenn's Sizzling Steaks. When we arrived, there were a few other groups in the restaurant, not crowded at all. And I happen to like the 2000s Pop music they were playing in the background. We were tended to almost immediately as they weren't busy. We didn't take long to try and figure out what we wanted as we knew we wanted steak! If you're the type of person who enjoys taking 15-20 minutes having to read through a 4-page menu, this is not that place. The menu was simple and straight to the point, which we liked a lot. They focused on what they excelled at and thats exactly what we got! We both got the ribeye and it came out on a sizzling plate topped with sauteed mushrooms. It was tasty, perfectly seasoned, and mouthwateringly delicious. It was so juicy that my bf went home with some of it on his shirt. And let me tell you about the apple pie a la mode!!! Good god! It was so ridiculously good! It's definitely a must try. Kathie and Glenn's is only 2.5 miles away from our house and after tonight's dinner, it just became our "Go To Steakhouse". This is sort of like a divey place. It looks kind of like a dark, old diner inside. The booths are old and it even smells kind of old inside. I wasn't sure what to make of the place when I went inside. It was better than I expected! The fried onion was awesome. It's akin to the bloomin' onion at Outback except 50000x better. It's not greasy, tasty and perfectly crisp. I would go there just for this. Another awesome thing is the sangria! I read on Yelp that the sangria is awesome and everyone is right. It was the perfect, perfect sangria. If you drink, definitely give this a try. It's the perfect complement to the meal. As for steaks, I had the sizzling rib eye and my fiance had the NY strip. They were tasty but kind of chewy. It wasn't my favorite steak. I would probably try it again because I liked the flavor of it but didn't like how it was cooked. This place is a diamond in the rough. Do not come here in a hurry. Everything moves at a slower pace, which is great. I ordered the filet with a baked potato. Unlike most steakhouses, this place has a more relaxed vibe (ok to wear a hoodie and be comfortable), and also delivered better steaks than I've had a white glove establishments. 1000% recommend, this type of place is not easy to find anymore and needs to be visited. The waitress Nadine was an absolute sweetheart but the owners were absolute jerk-offs when I asked for a refund because my steak was not even edible the owner Kathy got nasty with me and refused it. Never visiting again and don't waste your time going here this place looks like a horror movie house the website is completely deceiving it looks nothing like that and there are 8 items on the menu. Tonight we try out this awesome steakhouse , I could see it on dinner , dives , and drive in show . I had the French onion soup awesome , not load with onion more broth and chesse . Then we had salads and for the main course I had the ten ounce fillet mignon and wife had the ribeye both were on the money ! The hand cut fries were spot on too . Came to this hidden lil gem early on a Saturday night, I almost left because I was a little put off by the fact that no one was around to greet us, or seat us, and the dining room was empty. As we began to leave, we were persuaded by a gentleman, who we were passing on our way out to stay. He explained they were just opening, and we would be missing out on a great steak dinner. I reluctantly decided to stay, mostly because I felt bad leaving after his impassioned plea. Well the gentleman turned out to be the cook, and he was certainly right that we would have missed out on a great meal. It was early enough that the owner came over to take our order, and explained a bit of how he and his partner came to own the place, along with a little about the dining experience they were trying to create. In our opinion he nailed his vision, which is a laid back place, for an affordable bar style, steakhouse meal. I have read some crazy reviews about the pricing being high here, its just not true, I believe all the steaks range from 21 - 30$ with the salad and potato included. The cuts are decent quality, and certainly generously portioned. You just aren't finding a steak worth eating for a better price. The decor is definitely unassuming, a little dated, but not run down, it felt cozy to me. Its just not a perfectly decorated, well oiled machine of a restaurant, it doesn't appear to be what they are going for, and for me, is just fine. Okay, so I am a sucker for a good french onion soup, and if you are too, then ordering it here is a must. Loaded with melted cheese on top, and a powerfully flavored broth underneath, their version of the french onion soup is excellent. Certainly not for you watery broth, light film of melted cheese, diner french onion soup eating folk. Their version of the "Blooming Onion" was also done well. It was not sopping with oil, and did not have me feeling ill after a couple bites, like I have experienced when having this dish at some well known chains. While I certainly enjoyed my steak, they do cook it in a house steak sauce, that for some could be on the salty side. If you are averse to saltier foods, I would suggest you ask them to leave the sauce on the side, or ask they go light with it. I suggest go light because the sauce definitely gave it a nice flavor when cooked in. Long story long, I will definitely be returning to Kathie and Glenn's! read more

We had such a great experience at Kathie & Glenn's. It was our first time visiting. We were welcomed by Kathie and she was so sweet and accommodating. It immediately felt like home walking in. We ordered our drinks (which were perfect) and our amazing meal. Our waitress was fast and on point. We were excited to have found this new "hidden gem". I didn't have high expectations when deciding to dine here but the experience was an overall disappointing. I feel bad rating a small business poorly and wish I felt differently. While the server was curteous throughout the meal, she was pushy to take our order quickly. She justifed this by saying there was a large order coming, and that she wanted to make sure ours comes out first. I was annoyed after this exchange and had to insist that she give us a few minutes. She apologized at some point to my bf for rushing us. As for the food, it was mediocre. The Canadian NY strip steak was just okay in my opinion. It came out sizzling and cooked medium rare when first brought out. My bf liked it but I found it oversalted and full of fat. I ordered snow crab legs. I'm aware this was not a wise choice for a steakgouse but I wanted some variety instead of two steaks. Snow crab legs were very dry and the melted butter was too salty. She did offer to exchange them for another batch. Overall, I'm not a fan of this place from the musty smell to the dark depressing atmosphere (feels like dining in a basement). I pass this place every day going to work, and i always wondered how this place was. They are only open 3 days a week- Thurs- Saturday. There is a small parking lot in front, and if thats packed you can park on the side street. When you walk in, you realize that its a divey local bar/restaurant which is fine with me. A friend told my sister and I about how good the sizzling steaks were here so I just had to try them. We were greeted by the friendly owner Kathie who sat us with a story about the history of the building (It's a beautiful 200 year old house) and told us about how they're in the process of decorating the walls with old town photos and yearbooks. Kathie's brother Glenn, also the owner (like the restaurant's name) made sure we had everything we needed for the table including extra napkins for our upcoming order of juicy steaks. Okay now onto the food...the "flowering onion" and deep fried corn fritters were good starters but the sizzling steaks were the star entrees. I had the 10 ounce sizzling filet mignon topped with sauteed garlic and my sister had the huge 22 ounce ribeye while her boyfriend had the filet mignon topped with mozzarella and tomatoes. All entrees are served with a house salad (peppercorn dressing was the best), steak fries or a baked potato. The ribeye was juicy and the filets were like butter! Date night Friday night. Unsure where to go. Seen this place since I was a teenager. Suggested it to my beautiful girlfriend and she was willing. Atmosphere was good. Not packed and it was Friday. Read the reviews before going and nothing but good things. Sat right down and there was only one waitress, think it was the owner. Great attitude and service. Ordered Canadian New York strip steak and she ordered the king rib eye. Had a pitcher of tasty and alcohol filled sangria. Salad served before the main course along with heated bread and butter. The owner Glenn chatted us up for a few minutes while we waited for our entrees and gave us some history on the restaurant and family. Waitress was pleasant and gave great vibes! We kept it simple. Came for my husband's birthday and he was very pleased. Service was friendly and quick even with just 2 of them waiting and serving drinks and food. Glenn does a fabulous job checking on everyone. Read the reviews and knew there was a funky smell, but this smelled like when you buy a fixer upper on auction & no one's opened a window since it was foreclosed in 09'. I powered through, because I read the steak was delicious. The ribeye was more fat than actual steak, a bit chewy & it came with 7 fries for a $32 base price. My meal came to $70 including tip. Kathie & Glenn were super nice, a bit attentive. I'm all for supporting local businesses, & I know it takes a lot to open up a place after your 9-5. Maybe hire other people to maintain the place. Smaller, little dark but super cozy and vey friendly place for a wonderful steak dinner. 3 of us went for dinner last night and we ordered: homemade red sangria, corn nuggets, bloomin onion, mozzarella garlic bread and fresh pierogis for apps; NY strip steak, fried shrimp platter and a Cajun rubbed rib eye for entrees. Along with the entrees came a salad with their AMAZING homemade Parmesan peppercorn dressing! The food came out and you could tell the meat was really fresh, everything was hot and brought to us immediately as it became ready! I am certain that during dinner and after dinner the 3 of us said at least 10 times how impressed we were with the food, prices, friendliness of the owners, Kathie and Glen, who took care of us.
