Hands down the best hole in the wall restaurant I've ever been to! You walk into what feels like a cozy dive bar, but when you ask to sit in the dining room, they take you through the kitchen to the back and WOW, it's like stepping into a hidden gem packed with memorabilia everywhere you look. I didn't even know where to start taking it all in! The owner personally went around to every table, greeting everyone and chatting with us about the history of the place, which alone deserves 10 stars. Every single dish we tried was absolutely fantastic. The baked clams were massive, and the garlic clams in that buttery garlic sauce? I could honestly drink it with a spoon. Then came the steaks, perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth deliciousness! To top it all off, the chef even came out to greet everyone too and asked how everything was. It's such a rare touch that made us feel like family, like we'd been regulars for years. And for the kids there's even a fun little scavenger hunt, which is such a cute idea! If I could give Charlie Bloods 20 stars, I would. This place is full of heart, history, and seriously good food. Can't wait to go back!

This Joint is a time passage. Classic Dive Bar & Saloon. Friendly staff But the Food is over the top. Exceptional Big portions & reasonably priced.

It don't get much better than this place. Had an awesome Saturday night dining in at Charlie Blood's. The walls are filled with history and sports memorabilia. My boyfriend has been dying to go to this iconic cash-only establishment much to my initial skepticism, but I must admit defeat, this place blew me away. Our server Lisa was the best and had as laughing all night! The cheese pull on the bar pie - my kinda bar pie. The wings came out piping out and crispy with the vinegar from the buffalo sauce suffocating us with every inhale. Let's go. The "Duke" - 24oz ribeye with a side of onion rings (up charge). 24oz at their price in this economy right now? What? Onion rings for the up charge is a must. Do it. We ordered another order of onion rings to take home and a slice of chocolate mousse pie. But again shoutout to the Lisa for an extra slice! Absolutely the best. I NEED THE ENTIRE PIE NOW. AND A SPOON.

Since I was in my brother's neck of the woods, we decided to try this place. He recommended it. The ambience may seem a bit divy, but don't let that put you off. It is quite comfortable. The staff is very friendly. They make you feel as if you've known each other for years. The service was prompt. For appetizers, we had two types of calamari. One was the Cowboy Calamari, which was seasoned igs and honey, the other was your regular Calamari. Both were very good, but the Cowboy Calamari was on another level. We were surprised on how flavorful it was. For the main courses, we all had ribeye steaks. I had "The Duke", which was a 24oz steak. I had mine medium rare and smothered in mushrooms, fried onions and peppers for only $4 more. It was worth it. The steaks were very tender and juicy. It kind of reminded me of the old Arthur's Tavern in Hoboken (when they were still good). It could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was still fine. They did give us some Maggi Liquid Seasoning, which surprised us that they had it. It did elevate the flavoring of the steak. How could you go wrong with that? It's liquid MSG! Gotta love it! Also, if you dip the steak in the sauce of the Cowboy Calamari, you'd go bonkers on how it worked so well. The place is very affordable. It's a great local joint. It is worth visiting over and over again. If you're in Garfield and are craving for some juicy steaks, swing by Charlie Blood's. You won't regret it.

***4 1/2 stars*** I knew this was going to be memorable; I didn't know it was also going to be a really good meal. My top-tier chum and I stopped by here on Saturday afternoon for lunch, both famished and in need of sustenance. I was given the honor of picking the spot, and this was on the radar based on a behind-the-paywall nj.com article from a few months ago - boxing-themed old-school steak/Italian joint? Cash only? Sign me up. Totally worth my three-month free trial. My only real regret was that we inadvertently came in directly to the bar, bypassing what I imagine is a pretty astounding, eccentric dining area. The bar had quite a look as well, but we probably lost out a bit on the overall experience. I'd also like to come back in slightly warmer weather to lounge outside on what looks to be furniture recently removed from a house - this is not official outdoor patio stuff by any stretch. My chum loves sitting at bars, so we barely gave the high tops a look and settled in right in the corner closest to the door and made ourselves at home, taking in the myriad pictures and boxing gloves on the wall. I was really on the fence about what to get; a steak seemed like the obvious way to go, but my heart wanted the chicken parm. It was the right call and given how much I read about the steaks, really underrated. I thought this was an excellent dish. I'm always apprehensive about trying a new chicken parm because the sauce is the real equalizer - there are some rough ones out there. This was really good though; meaty without being chunky (huge pet peeve) and the perfect accompaniment to the chicken. The only slight issue they have with this chicken is that the coating comes off too easily - the bottom breading fell off immediately when I'd cut off pieces, so then I'd have to search around for it amidst the meaty sauce. Worse ways to go, but I'd try to come up with something to keep the coating on a bit longer. Also as you can see, a gigantic portion. I finished the entire meal because I'm an animal but my chum (who got the sandwich version) had another lunch essentially packed up for her. The service was top-notch as well; the bartender was very nice and actually comped my chum's second beer. Despite both getting legit entrees and drinks (I went with some house wine, nothing crazy), we each paid a little over $30 with tip. Great bang for the buck. We also had the pleasure of listening to some real salt-of-the-earth patrons sporting their Garfield, NJ shirts who clearly spend a ton of time here. No judgment. Before this adventure, my experience in Garfield involved a few quick forays down 46. No longer. This is going in the rotation; just make sure you have your legal tender handy.

Shhhhh keep this quiet. They have the best steaks in the area. Every thing is home made & they cook with love . I just want the place getting swamped with people.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while because their menu items seem like such a great deal. Where else can you get a 24 oz. ribeye for $30.95?! Unfortunately, the food was just very meh. Our party of five (including a baby in a stroller) came in on a Saturday at around 1. There are two sides of the restaurant - the bar side, and the 'family' side, which is the dining room side. It was empty at that time on the family side, so it was kind of nice to have the place almost entirely to ourselves. We ordered: -Clams on the half shell - I was afraid these wouldn't be fresh but they were actually pretty good -24 oz Ribeye - we added peppers, onions, and mushrooms for $3. We asked for medium rare but it was pretty much well done. There were a lot of burnt edges because the steak was mostly fat. So while it doesn't have a bone in the 24 oz, probably about a third of it is fat. The peppers tasted a little sour -Seafood Platter (shrimp, calamari, mussels, & baked clams) - -50/50 Cheeseburger (chopped bacon mixed with Angus beef) - this came on a hoagie, and the bread was just not good. The patty was a little dry for something that has chopped bacon in it. The burgers also don't include lettuce, tomatoes, or onions. We upgraded to onion rings for $2, and at least the onion rings were good -Tracy's Philly Cheesesteak - we actually ordered this later on and regretted it. We should have known that it would come on the same bread as the hamburger. There also wasn't that much meat so it wasn't worth it for $14.95. The meat comes in strips (as opposed to thinly sliced/chopped like an actual philly) and was kind of dry. So actually, maybe it was a good thing that there wasn't that much meat in the sandwich. The fries it came with was the best part of the entire meal because they were battered fries -Ripper - I think this was a weekend special. We got the one served with peppers, onions, and chili. At $3, this was worth it, and it was a solid ripper I'm happy I got to try this place, but it just wasn't great. I don't know if the bar side is also western themed (which was fun), but if it is, I can see it being a cool place to grab a drink and some fried bites, like the fries and onion rings. I don't think I'll be back though.

This a 5 star review because it hit all of the check marks. You simply cannot get the same value you will get here anywhere else. Firstly, the staff is family, and very welcoming and accommodating. They Truly care about the restaurant, its legacy and there food A very comfortable environment with 80's/90's country music playing and a homey feeling dining room. I felt like I went to my first cousins for dinner and coffee. Our waitress was one of the owners and helped me select some craft brews they offered. Very generous and appreciated. The Buffalo Wings are excellent. Cooked right and in a thinner sauce with a little zing but not overpowering. A+ Our dinners were the Godfather Trio (Veal, Shrimp Parm and Eggplanr Rollantini) and the 16oz Sizzling steak. The Italian Trio was a good portion and had a nice sauce, very filling and a very reasonable price. The Steak was better than some steakhouses and "higher-end" restaurants that like to charge $40-$60 for it. The steak was PERFECT! And for a price point under $30 is one of the best bargains you can find! Flavor was amazing and cooked expertly! We finished with coffee and the Chocolate Mousse Cake & Cheesecake. Well worth it and again; a price you can't beat. We even took home dinners for work the next day. It was that good. This is a Gem and a throw back to how things used to be and should be. Where your welcomed in and treated like a guest in a home and fed a wonderful meal. ***Keep in mind - Cash Only But they have an ATM on site. Not a big deal. Head in and enjoy. I'll definitely be back!!!

She was very attentive and made our meal pleasant and comfortable. I started with a Blood Orange Margarita (Calirosa 'Rosa Blanca' Tequila, orange liqueur, fresh sour, blood orange). This drink was VERY GOOD. The hint of blood orange was the perfect amount of sweetness and I was content with my selection. The appetizer was the Slow-Roasted Meatballs (porcini-dusted veal, pork, grass-fed beef, tomato-basil sauce, brick-oven bread). Each meatball was tender, flavorful, well seasoned, and the sauce was sufficient to accompany every forkful of the delicious starter. The entrees were: Caramelized Sea Scallops (broccolini, mascarpone risotto). Next was the Seasonal Brick-Oven Gnocchi (roasted mushrooms, truffle oil, roasted tomatoes, Marsala and provolone sauce, green onions). The final entree was the Mediterranean Wood-Grilled Chicken Salad (arugula, toybox tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onions, chickpeas, quinoa, feta, lemon dijon vinaigrette). For dessert, Seasons 52 graciously offered a free dessert for my birthday. Another nice touch that places Seasons 52 on a pedestal. I chose the Key Lime Pie Mini (graham cracker crust, whipped cream). The mini dessert was deliciously sweet, the graham crust provided an appreciated different texture, and I highly recommend these mini selections.

A quick heads-up: on Google Maps it's listed as Ceviche 517, but the sign on the building says Tavern 517, which initially threw us off. We were circling around until we decided to just trust the physical address--and we're so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, the name didn't even matter anymore. The decor is stunning--definitely has an upscale, Instagram-worthy vibe with a modern lounge feel. We might've come a little early because the place was quiet when we arrived, but that worked in our favor as we got to settle in comfortably and explore the menu. Drinks were a mixed experience. We tried the margarita flight, which included coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry. The coconut and passion fruit margaritas were absolutely delicious--fresh, balanced, and memorable. The strawberry, however, was a big miss--tasted like kid's medicine and no one at the table could finish it. We also ordered a drink called something like Chicola--it had ginger ale, lime juice, and some type of liquor, and unfortunately, it was another one we couldn't get through. The flavors just didn't mix well, and everyone at the table agreed it was a no for us. On the flip side, the Perfect Mule with a strawberry twist, the Henny Mojito, and a bold and fun drink called No Sheets were much better received. Menus are displayed on sleek tablets, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the in-house menu offered way more options than what's listed online. And the food? Absolutely excellent. The Tallarín Saltado with vegetables was beyond delicious--we placed it in the center so everyone could dig in. The ceviche flight was fresh and flavorful, and the jalea (a fried seafood platter) didn't last long on the table either. One friend had the larger ceviche bowl paired with a mojito and already asked to come back just for that combo. Even the kid's arroz chaufa with chicken impressed us, with a big enough portion for leftovers. If there's one thing that fell flat, it was the atmosphere--at least early in the evening. When we arrived, the music playing sounded like retro video game tunes, but thankfully it transitioned into upbeat Spanish hits, including some great bachata that gave the space some energy. All in all, despite a few drink misses and a quiet start, this spot is a gem. The food alone is worth the trip, and we're definitely planning to return--next time a little later in the evening to hopefully catch a livelier vibe!

I was excited to check out this local sports bar in Lodi after seeing all of the positive reviews…read more Honestly, it was a little underwhelming for me. Maybe I just ordered the "wrong things". Either way, my experience didn't live up to the hype. I visited on a late Saturday night. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. The entrance can be tricky to find... It's located in the back on the left-hand side. The exterior and interior are both pretty dark, dull, and dingy. It's not the most inviting atmosphere at first. It has a divey, industrial, and rustic vibe to it, but hey... sometimes the best food comes from places that don't look like much. So I try not to judge. It wasn't too busy, and the service was attentive. The menu has your classic American comfort food - wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. They switch it up with daily specials like skirt steak, chicken parm, and pasta. They have a full bar with cocktails, drafts, bottled beers, can ciders, and wines. You can even do a four-beer flight and make it a tasting experience! I ordered: *Dark & Stormy Cocktail [Goslings Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice] ($14) - Not the best one I've had, but it was solid. If you like ginger and rum, this is a must try. The dark rum has hints of caramel which works really well with the spicy ginger beer. The lime juice adds a citrus kick, so it's a really refreshing drink. *Margarita ($18) - As a tequila girly, I've had my fair share of margaritas. This one didn't do it for me. It was a little too sour/tart, which overpowered everything else. *Cubano Sandwich [includes roast pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, and mustard with side of fries] ($16) - I wasn't expecting an authentic Cubano from an American sports bar, so my expectations weren't super high. This was good, but not great. The pork was flavorful, but could've been more tender. I wish there were more pickles and mayo for that extra tangy crunch. The bread was pressed a little too hard, so it was a bit tough to bite through. *Double Blackened Chicken Breast Sandwich [includes pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, red peppers, and red onion on brioche with side of fries] ($18) - This was huge and filling! They did not skimp out on the protein. The brioche bun was soft and buttery. The chicken was well seasoned - smoky and savory with crispy charred edges. BUT... to my disappointment, the inside was dry and not juicy at all. Another small issue was the ratio - There was so much chicken compared to the rest of the toppings, so it wasn't the most cohesive sandwich. It really needed more cheese and chipotle mayo to tie all the flavors together. The fries were the best part - thick, crispy, and golden! It's decent bar food, just not the best I've had. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great or memorable. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth it. I do appreciate that their food is served piping hot and fresh. To be fair, this is probably the perfect spot for beer lovers. I happen to not be one, lol. The burger options sound popular and promising too. I'd consider giving them another shot for Happy Hour or to try a burger, but it's not at the top of my list. Just because it's not the sports bar for me, doesn't mean it won't be the one for you.
