Love this restaurant! Conveniently valet parking, hostess and servers are all welcoming. The cocktails are amazing, sushi, steak, apps, and desserts are all delicious. The inside is warm and cozy, with dim lighting. Highly recommended!

Food and service was excellent! Wait time even with a reservation...not so much. I'll guess it's because it was the day after valentines. We waited about an hour after our reservation to be seated and weren't the only ones in the same boat. I still think it's problematic because there's no point of reservations at that point. Aside from that the decor was very traditional and intimate. Definitely a place to dress nice to. We got the bubbles and berries and cranberry sangria for drinks. They were yummy! I could've had more but the food was filling and too good. For food we went all out for the special occasion and ordered the Edgewater Maki, Prime Tomahawk Ribeye, Broccoli, Mashed potato, and 10 layer chocolate mousse cake for dessert. We both agreed we loved the sushi most and wanted more but the steak was so big so we couldn't do it. The steak was flavorful but something was missing. For some reason it tasted better the next day after reheating on the stove. Sides were good too. Broccoli was a bit dry for me. If you're a chocolate lover I recommend that 10 layers because leftovers! Overall great meal and I'll be back for more sushi

We had a great dinner at The River Palm Terrace. The sushi was unbelieve and my favorite part (Alpine Maki), one of the best rolls I've ever had. Our others apps were delicious too (French Onion Soup and Thick Cut Bacon). The two steaks were good, my husband's was better than my Filet, I wish it had more flavor. He liked the bone-in rib-eye. Our drinks were great and the creme brulee was fantastic. Our server was short with us at fist but then she opened up and was really nice towards the end. We will be back to try other things!

Cozy, old school steakhouse in Edgewater! Love this place, 5/5. The vibe is warm, energetic, and inviting. We got a nice booth in the main dining room and, one of the servers, Anthony, was already waiting there to greet us. We had a bunch of menu questions and Anthony was helpful and responsive. The service throughout the evening was excellent. The food was amazing, each dish was better than the last. For my drink, I got a maple bacon Manhattan, it was delicious and had actual bacon in the beverage which was a nice touch. We got the colossal crab meat cocktail as a starter. Then from the daily menu, we got the Ribeye for two and acorn squash. For dessert, the chocolate banana cream pie. Everything was so so good! Highly recommend this spot for special nights, I will definitely be back!

We love the steak here! It's on our top 5 list, including steakhouses in the city. We had the porterhouse, cooked medium, creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Also got the shallot butter and au poivre sauce on the side. Loved the au poivre. I also love the flaky salt that they offer you to add as you please on your steak. The creamed spinach I would not order again, but everything else was perfect. I think adding some fontina or parm cheese to the creamed spinach would give the side dish exactly what it needs to make it great. Service was pretty good. We did have to look around for our waitress for about 15 minutes before being able to order, but otherwise she was pretty on top of it. In the past, we didn't have to wait for a server, they were constantly checking if we needed anything. Ambience: old-school steakhouse/good place to eat lunch or dinner with your family. Lots of families celebrating birthdays, couples having dinner, or friend groups meeting up- all ages. They offered three seating rooms. One upstairs, which is quieter. And two dining options, downstairs, one in the bar, and similar dining to upstairs on the main floor, but louder than the upstairs room. Definitely will return. Don't hesitate, book River Palm! And yes, you normally need a reservation

It may be hard to believe, but this was my first dining experience at the River Palm Terrace. I've heard so many great things from friends and relatives. My friend and I went during lunch time. There is valet parking available for lunch and dinner hours. I was impressed with the extensive menu including specials. I ordered the 8oz. filet mignon. This came with an onion ring, baked potatoes, and string beans. My meal was cooked to my liking. I also enjoyed the variety of sauces. We additionally ordered the tuna, grilled octopus, and spicy Hugo spritzes. Lastly, the coconut cake was a summer special dessert. It was delicious! The cake paired with a cappuccino was a perfect way to end our lunch. Friendly staff and excellent service.

I have always wanted to try this place. I used to have to go to the Englewood hospital every week for 6 months and I passed this place every time. I would say to my husband, "we should go there!". Well, I finally went this past Christmas Eve for dinner with my family. It was a madhouse! So packed! (Good for them!) We had a 7pm reservation and when we arrived there were at least 5 other parties standing around the host stand waiting to be seated. We were seated about 10min after 7, which is fine, especially when it's so crowded. We were given a nice booth. Our server was a very friendly young woman who seemed to be running at 100mph! I am always amazed at those kind of servers. Now for the disappointing part, the food. I had heard good things from friends, so I didn't think I'd have to worry about the food. Our steak was a bit over cooked and pretty tough. We asked for the most melt-in-your-mouth cut of steak they have and this was what she recommended. We ordered it medium rare and there were only a few dark pink pieces. And it was seared a little too much on top. The sushi was also a miss. I guess I should have expected that at a steak place, but again, people recommended it. The sushi was just very American. I thought it was going to be high quality fish and cut well. It was like any fast-food sushi place in the us. The cocktails were good and strong though!

Theres no reason to rate this spot anything but a 5/5 stars. The food was phenomenal, with an array of selections and a menu that would even make a diner blush. What we got: Fair-lawn Maki: 10/10 Manhattan Maki: 10/10 Clams Casino: 11/10 Coconut Shrimp: 10/10 Prime Dry aged Porterhouse for Two: 30/10 The Desserts: 15/10 Amazing service from our waiter Joe with a great (dimly lit) ambiance. I cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Absolutely fabulous experience, from the food to the service, and the drinks. This is an all around top notch dining experience and I highly recommend it. Steaks are cooked perfectly, large seafood selection as well and some of the most beautiful looking sushi I saw going past my table. French onion soup truly one of the best, not salty at all, just delicious. What's so great about this restaurant they have a price point for everyone. Dinner menu is priced like any other high end steakhouse but their lunch menu is incredibly priced. Desserts are made in house, they have their own baker... highly recommend chocolate banana cream pie... outstanding.

Met my son here tonight. This place brings you back in time . Warm and inviting with celebrity pics all over . Started with Rockefeller oysters wow so fresh and juicy. Eggplant rollentini was great nice and crispy with nice filling . I ordered the rib eye. Came with mash potatoes and snap peas. It was lunch so it wasn't a thick piece. It was nice and charred but it was very thin. Was very enjoyable. Wife has a fish sandwich. Crispy outside and tender inside. Open steak sandwich was amazing. Fillet mignon laid over bread We had to try their homemade chocolate banana cream pie . Omg it was really amazing. Creamy and stacked . Eddie was our waiter he was really great. Knowledgeable and helped us through the menu. Place is very dark and loud but that's the charm of it. Valet parking makes it easy. Definitely will come back for dinner. Lunch pretty reasonable

Reservation for two for date night. We were seated upon entering and after being greeted by the host. We ordered drinks and I ordered sushi. The sushi was very fresh. However the food was just okay as was my margarita. I found it odd that my Margarita and the Jack and coke that were ordered came in the same type of glass, neither of which I would think would come in the glass it was in. The filet was good but it was not great like I expected. Mashed potatoes were good. Overall, I think a few friends hyped this restaurant up and upon trying it I was disappointed to be honest as it did not live up to the expectations. I do expect more from higher end restaurants, but I think it is fair to do so. I actually rate this a 3.5 but since there are no half stars I gave it a 4. I would not rush to return but if and when I do I will definitely get the sushi.

Roasted beef bone marrow with a side of bread and salad and fried calamari on top of greens and with marinara sauce

At the time of rating, this place has 3.9 stars. I don't understand why it does, because this place is FANTASTIC. The steaks surpassed my expectation by miles and the lava cake was the best I've ever had. The fries were pretty normal steak frites, and so were the calamari. Usually, bone marrow would make me extremely nauseous when eating it. This time, the marrow, even though larger than the other one I ate, made me feel satisfied after eating. It was seasoned extremely well but not to the point of being too salty or peppery. The skirt steak was more tender than a wagyu version I've had before. The portions were very appropriate, and I was left very satisfied after every meal. The restaurant's atmosphere was like an old-fashioned fancy restaurant that looked like it would be a great fit for a jukebox to be somewhere. It had that dark brown aesthetic and some jazzy songs with a little bit of bass instruments to go along with it. The best of it all was the waiter. The waiter, David, was just fantastic in service. He seemed to work with a great passion and would explain the things that we ordered without a single mistake. A few elderly ladies were sitting behind us in a booth, and he would take care of them very well too. Every few minutes or so, he would tell us when our food would come out and it was just great. When we didn't have enough space for a booth, he immediately got to work on setting up a table for 5 and did it in probably less than a minute. When ordering dessert, David suggested some ice creams to go along with the lava cake. The one in the picture is called the "Grand Slam", and its base is made of graham crackers and inside of it are crispy chunks covered in chocolate. It would be an insult to call it just s'mores ice cream. The lava cake was extremely soft and the chocolate inside actually lived up to its name unlike most lava cakes where it's either just too wet or too thick inside. The inside of the cake did not overflow too much when I cut into it, and was pretty hot when I ate it. It wasn't hot to the point where my mouth burned, even though I did not expect it. It was just nice and gooey. Don't let the ratings of this restaurant fool you, because it's just as good as an award-winning restaurant in New York City!

The River Palm Terrace Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The River Palm Terrace

Is there parking at location or nearby?

You may be able to park on the residential street next to the restaurant but you'd have to check the sign. I valet.

    Is this place kid friendly?

Earlier in the day yes, at night it's more of an adult place.

Are they seriously charging $5 for a salad that comes with an entree now even if you don't want it or order it?

Yes, they are charging $5 for the used-to-be "free" salad. No, you are not obligated to order it. The waiters ask if you want salad when they take your order.

Do they charge extra if you bring a cake for a birthday celebration?

I asked them as I am sitting here... not at lunch but at dinner.

How is parking in this area? I looked on maps and did not see parking structures within walking distance. Does the restaurant have its own lot for guests? If street parking is it typically hard to find parking and is it metered?

The establishment has valet parking. You don't have to worry about parking.

Can men come in with jeans and a button down?

Absolutely! That is what my male friends wear.

Do they still have outdoor seating?

    No there isn't

I have a reservation for weekend lunch, T-bone steak is not available at lunch?

You can order it off of the dinner menu. My husband orders steak dinner all the time while I eat off the lunch menu

Do they allow You to bring your own wine with corkage fee?

You don't need to, they have an amazing liquor and wine menu.

I made a reservation and they said it would be "upstairs". Is this good?

Depends what you like. Downstairs definitely busier and more of a trendy bar atmosphere. Upstairs white table cloths, quiet.

Is the outside dining section heated?

I WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN IF IT WAS THE LAST RESTAURANT OPEN! ITS HORRIBLE!!!!!!

What is the ambience in the tent outside and is it hot under the tent? Also is there loud music? Is it romantic at all?

The ambience was beautiful and refreshing reminded me of a romantic night in Paris

Someone told me they have a special lunch menu. Is this correct?

Yes they do have a lunch menu and I think it’s priced moderately compared to dinner.

How much is an average bill for 2?

    $160 + tax + tip

Would anyone recommend this restaurant or is Ruth's Chris better?

Hope this helps, I took my wife there recently we ordered the porterhouse for two, hash brown casserole, creamed spinach, two 7oz stone crab claws, both had a coke. No alcohol. The bill came to $215 which is an average price for a nice steak house… Read more

First of all, the service is terrific. I walked in as a "one" and got to sit in this adorable little solo seat up on the second floor, which had a great view of all of the goings on down below me. Then I ordered a Classic Bloody Mary and their Deluxe French Dip from a friendly and competent server. When the Bloody Mary came out, it looked almost pink, which had given me the false sense that it might not be all that flavorful. Boy, was I wrong. It was an incredibly tasty cocktail. It honestly might have been one of the best I've ever had! The Deluxe French Dip was insane. It was a vision of beauty. I just couldn't even figure out how I was going to eat it without making a complete mess of myself. I even asked the waiter if he had a recommendation. He just told me, "You just have to own it" and brought me a stack of napkins. And "own it" I did. It was so delicious and decadent. It involves so many deep flavors. I particularly loved the horseradish sauce. Being a native New Yorker I often scoff at these madly, popular eateries that draw large crowds of people taking selfies while they're eating, but between the service, the food, the decor and the overall vibe, I honestly believe I understand why this place is so wildly popular. So, they were constantly having to reach around us to grab it. I don't think those issues are enough that I'd say it was a "bad" experience. I'd still very much recommend it, and I hope to return sometime soon.

Most people would be furious but this truly felt like an episode of Seinfeld. Kramer trying to explain to George how it was about the experience. George yelling "but there was no food!". Jerry going "eh, ya kinda need food if you're gonna call yourself a restaurant!" Elaine agreeing with Jerry. Several couples walked out after sitting at a table for over an hour with just drinks. Some tables were fortunate enough to have enough money to splurge on the $6 bread basket that was not included in the price. We laughed so hard at the entire affair that we didn't even mind being held hostage for two and a half hours. To top it off, we were given two complimentary glasses of champagne. My girlfriend is allergic to champagne and the waiter walked away so fast he didn't even hear me say it. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place if you're hungry or have plans after.
