Our waitress was really attentive and kind. We sat upstairs near a window which helped our kid see her book she brought while waiting for our food. Otherwise, it really is dark inside. The food was amazing and I especially loved their stuffed hash browns (not on the menu but you can ask for it). It's hard to get hash browns just right. They're either burnt or super soggy and greasy. Theirs was just right. I'd go back just for this side dish, lol. We got the Caesar salad, calamari, jumbo onion rings--all standard, nothing particularly outstanding. Got the prime dry aged bone-in ribeye which was mostly fat but the actual meat piece was good. Mine was more rare than requested and my husband's steak was overcooked. This makes me think *when* we come back, the temperature of our steaks will be inconsistent. Went to the River Palm Terrace (RPT) for my girlfriend's birthday. I've saw so many good things on social media that I just had to book the reservation in advance to make her day special. We started with two espresso martini's with Bailey's and those drinks were smooth and strong. Then we split the shell steak, vodka chicken parm and onion rings. I loved it all the onion rings could've been a bit crispier but everything was delicious and our server was awesome. She made our first time at RPR memorable. For dessert we finished singing happy birthday and the banana pudding, which was out of this world. I also ordered a cappuccino which really hit the spot. The staff was great! And I thought the food was delicious too. They were very accommodating of the fact that we had two kids with us for our anniversary dinner. They do have valet parking available. The place is dark... like funeral dark. After my eyes adjusted a bit, I ordered the beefsteak tomato and mozzarella, the shrimp francese, a petit filet for my daughter and a cheeseburger for my wife. The tomato and mozz was delicious, though I think it could have benefited from a shot of balsamic. My daughter finished her fist-sized filet and all the mashed potatos a side order provided. She said it was delicious and I will take her at her word. My shrimp dish was great, and my wife said it was the best cheeseburger she's had in a very long time. With 2 drinks and a dessert to share, the bill was a very reasonable $225. A nice place for a special occasion! read more

My family and I have been fans of River Palm since they first opened. We always find an excuse to dine here and consistently have a wonderful experience. I recently visited again after not having been there for a few years, and the experience exceeded my expectations. Despite it being an early Monday evening, the restaurant was busy and every table was filled, which speaks to its continued popularity. The service was excellent, the drinks were well made, and the food was outstanding. The Andy Roll was fresh and flavorful, the steak was perfectly tender, and the fried onions made for a delicious side dish. finally got to try out river palm terrace & I think it lived up to its hype for the most part! we had to try the sushi as it's so highly recommended in the reviews. in my opinion, the fish was ver fresh and tasty, but the rolls itself were sort of mushy and could fall apart. i'd go back and try another roll just to see if the texture is a consistent thing or if they were just off the night we ate there. the steak we got was perfectly crispy & still juicy on the inside. chicken parm was nicely cooked and came with a side of pasta that was perfectly al dente. our fries were nothing to rave about but they came on a nice big plate, definitely worth sharing. our server kept reminding us to leave room for dessert, and i'm glad we did! we got the chocolate cake for 2 which was HUGE and delicious, and the graham slam gelato which was honestly my highlight of the night. not sure if this is the norm there, but the restaurant was significantly packed on a sunday evening. our server kept disappearing to handle other tables which is totally fine, but we were kept waiting for long periods of time when we needed them. however whenever they came around, their service was top notch and very friendly. it's just really busy in there. read more

We waited about an hour after our reservation to be seated and weren't the only ones in the same boat. I still think it's problematic because there's no point of reservations at that point. Aside from that the decor was very traditional and intimate. Definitely a place to dress nice to. We got the bubbles and berries and cranberry sangria for drinks. They were yummy! I could've had more but the food was filling and too good. For food we went all out for the special occasion and ordered the Edgewater Maki, Prime Tomahawk Ribeye, Broccoli, Mashed potato, and 10 layer chocolate mousse cake for dessert. We got a nice booth in the main dining room and, one of the servers, Anthony, was already waiting there to greet us. We had a bunch of menu questions and Anthony was helpful and responsive. We love the steak here! It's on our top 5 list, including steakhouses in the city. We had the porterhouse, cooked medium, creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Also got the shallot butter and au poivre sauce on the side. Loved the au poivre. I also love the flaky salt that they offer you to add as you please on your steak. The creamed spinach I would not order again, but everything else was perfect. I think adding some fontina or parm cheese to the creamed spinach would give the side dish exactly what it needs to make it great. Service was pretty good. We did have to look around for our waitress for about 15 minutes before being able to order, but otherwise she was pretty on top of it. In the past, we didn't have to wait for a server, they were constantly checking if we needed anything. Ambience: old-school steakhouse/good place to eat lunch or dinner with your family. Lots of families celebrating birthdays, couples having dinner, or friend groups meeting up- all ages. They offered three seating rooms. One upstairs, which is quieter. It may be hard to believe, but this was my first dining experience at the River Palm Terrace. I've heard so many great things from friends and relatives. My friend and I went during lunch time. There is valet parking available for lunch and dinner hours. I was impressed with the extensive menu including specials. I ordered the 8oz. filet mignon. This came with an onion ring, baked potatoes, and string beans. My meal was cooked to my liking. I also enjoyed the variety of sauces. We additionally ordered the tuna, grilled octopus, and spicy Hugo spritzes. Lastly, the coconut cake was a summer special dessert. It was delicious! I have always wanted to try this place. I used to have to go to the Englewood hospital every week for 6 months and I passed this place every time. I would say to my husband, "we should go there!". Well, I finally went this past Christmas Eve for dinner with my family. It was a madhouse! So packed! (Good for them!) We had a 7pm reservation and when we arrived there were at least 5 other parties standing around the host stand waiting to be seated. We were seated about 10min after 7, which is fine, especially when it's so crowded. We were given a nice booth. Our server was a very friendly young woman who seemed to be running at 100mph! I am always amazed at those kind of servers. Now for the disappointing part, the food. I had heard good things from friends, so I didn't think I'd have to worry about the food. Our steak was a bit over cooked and pretty tough. We asked for the most melt-in-your-mouth cut of steak they have and this was what she recommended. We ordered it medium rare and there were only a few dark pink pieces. And it was seared a little too much on top. The sushi was also a miss. I guess I should have expected that at a steak place, but again, people recommended it. The sushi was just very American. I thought it was going to be high quality fish and cut well. This place is between a 4 and 4.5 The steak here is probably the best I've had on this side of the Hudson Surprisingly the sushi is also very fresh and the quality of the fish is equivalent to other good sushi places. The place can get very busy and crowded sometimes. You can definitely overstay your welcome here. My boyfriend and I recently celebrated his birthday at The River Palm Terrace and we had a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting and our wait staff was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. While a couple of menu items were unavailable...the staff handled everything professionally and offered great alternatives. We stared with a pitcher of the Sangria which was perfect! My boyfriend originally ordered the prime rib but our waitress returned to let us know that only one boneless cut piece remained. He instead chose the T-bone, which was cooked to perfection and ended up being an excellent choice. We had also planned to order the zucchini blossoms but they had sold out for the evening so I opted for the lobster bisque instead. It was rich, flavorful and absolutely delicious. For my entrée I enjoyed the filet mignon with hash browns both prepared beautifully. We also shared the otoro crispy rice sushi, which was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. To top off the birthday celebration we ordered the Banana Nutella cake. The portion was very generous and the dessert was delicious & the perfect ending to a memorable meal. They even sang Happy Birthday! Despite a few items being unavailable the outstanding service, excellent food and welcoming atmosphere made for a special birthday dinner. Steaks are cooked perfectly, large seafood selection as well and some of the most beautiful looking sushi I saw going past my table. Eggplant rollentini was great nice and crispy with nice filling . I ordered the rib eye. Came with mash potatoes and snap peas. It was lunch so it wasn't a thick piece. It was nice and charred but it was very thin. Was very enjoyable. Wife has a fish sandwich. Crispy outside and tender inside. Open steak sandwich was amazing. Reservation for two for date night. We were seated upon entering and after being greeted by the host. We ordered drinks and I ordered sushi. The sushi was very fresh. However the food was just okay as was my margarita. I found it odd that my Margarita and the Jack and coke that were ordered came in the same type of glass, neither of which I would think would come in the glass it was in. The filet was good but it was not great like I expected. Mashed potatoes were good. Overall, I think a few friends hyped this restaurant up and upon trying it I was disappointed to be honest as it did not live up to the expectations. I do expect more from higher end restaurants, but I think it is fair to do so. I actually rate this a 3.5 but since there are no half stars I gave it a 4. Was beyond excited to try this place after hearing all the great reviews, and I will say the food absolutely lived up to the hype. Every dish we had was delicious. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience really took away from what was supposed to be a special night out. We made a reservation and still had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. Once we were finally sat, we were placed directly next to a group of fourteen 7-year-old girls. I completely understand restaurants can't always control parties or noise levels, but for a restaurant that is supposed to feel upscale and special, it honestly ruined the atmosphere. There was constant screaming and chaos to the point where I couldn't even hear the person sitting next to me. On top of that, the tables upstairs were extremely close together. Every time someone got up -- guests or staff -- our chairs were being bumped into nonstop throughout the night. It made the entire dinner feel crowded, overwhelming, and honestly stressful instead of enjoyable. We ended up laughing about it by the end, but for a special occasion dinner, it was definitely disappointing. The food was genuinely very good, and I would like to come back because of that. But after this experience, it makes it difficult to want to return knowing how cramped and chaotic the seating felt. Maybe downstairs has a different vibe, but upstairs was unfortunately not the experience we were expecting. read more

At the time of rating, this place has 3.9 stars. I don't understand why it does, because this place is FANTASTIC. The steaks surpassed my expectation by miles and the lava cake was the best I've ever had. The fries were pretty normal steak frites, and so were the calamari. Usually, bone marrow would make me extremely nauseous when eating it. This time, the marrow, even though larger than the other one I ate, made me feel satisfied after eating. It was seasoned extremely well but not to the point of being too salty or peppery. The skirt steak was more tender than a wagyu version I've had before. The portions were very appropriate, and I was left very satisfied after every meal. The restaurant's atmosphere was like an old-fashioned fancy restaurant that looked like it would be a great fit for a jukebox to be somewhere. It had that dark brown aesthetic and some jazzy songs with a little bit of bass instruments to go along with it. The best of it all was the waiter. The waiter, David, was just fantastic in service. He seemed to work with a great passion and would explain the things that we ordered without a single mistake. A few elderly ladies were sitting behind us in a booth, and he would take care of them very well too. Every few minutes or so, he would tell us when our food would come out and it was just great. When we didn't have enough space for a booth, he immediately got to work on setting up a table for 5 and did it in probably less than a minute. When ordering dessert, David suggested some ice creams to go along with the lava cake. The one in the picture is called the "Grand Slam", and its base is made of graham crackers and inside of it are crispy chunks covered in chocolate. It would be an insult to call it just s'mores ice cream. The lava cake was extremely soft and the chocolate inside actually lived up to its name unlike most lava cakes where it's either just too wet or too thick inside. The inside of the cake did not overflow too much when I cut into it, and was pretty hot when I ate it. It wasn't hot to the point where my mouth burned, even though I did not expect it. It was just nice and gooey. Don't let the ratings of this restaurant fool you, because it's just as good as an award-winning restaurant in New York City! read more

I give a lot of five star reviews, but truly believe River Palm deserves 6 or 7 stars. It is truly one of the best steak houses in NJ. None really compare. If you have a good server and nice seating, the food is always superb! We have been a lot and always leave happy and satisfied. We do miss the free salad as always thought that was a nice touch and we would order bacon to put in it. With that being said, I know many restaurants are trying to still catch up from COVID, but always hope they bring it back. Maybe they do it on certain nights of the week or only offer on request. Last night was great. In any case , we love this place and will always go back. I had the filet and lobster and loved it. My husband had the dry aged ribeye.and it was cooked to perfection and very enjoyable. We enjoyed shrimp cocktail & burrata as an appetizer. Both great. Heads Up: They charge you $5 for the house salad if you opt for it. But don't completely count them out because they offer Backdoor Butchers which serves the finest prime beef available anywhere.
