My family and I have been fans of River Palm since they first opened. We always find an excuse to dine here and consistently have a wonderful experience. I recently visited again after not having been there for a few years, and the experience exceeded my expectations. Despite it being an early Monday evening, the restaurant was busy and every table was filled, which speaks to its continued popularity. The service was excellent, the drinks were well made, and the food was outstanding. The Andy Roll was fresh and flavorful, the steak was perfectly tender, and the fried onions made for a delicious side dish. River Palm has certainly maintained its high standards and reputation over the years. Looking forward to returning again soon!

Love this restaurant! Conveniently valet parking, hostess and servers are all welcoming. The cocktails are amazing, sushi, steak, apps, and desserts are all delicious. The inside is warm and cozy, with dim lighting. Highly recommended!

finally got to try out river palm terrace & I think it lived up to its hype for the most part! we had to try the sushi as it's so highly recommended in the reviews. in my opinion, the fish was ver fresh and tasty, but the rolls itself were sort of mushy and could fall apart. i'd go back and try another roll just to see if the texture is a consistent thing or if they were just off the night we ate there. the steak we got was perfectly crispy & still juicy on the inside. chicken parm was nicely cooked and came with a side of pasta that was perfectly al dente. our fries were nothing to rave about but they came on a nice big plate, definitely worth sharing. our server kept reminding us to leave room for dessert, and i'm glad we did! we got the chocolate cake for 2 which was HUGE and delicious, and the graham slam gelato which was honestly my highlight of the night. not sure if this is the norm there, but the restaurant was significantly packed on a sunday evening. our server kept disappearing to handle other tables which is totally fine, but we were kept waiting for long periods of time when we needed them. however whenever they came around, their service was top notch and very friendly. it's just really busy in there.

Food and service was excellent! Wait time even with a reservation...not so much. I'll guess it's because it was the day after valentines. We waited about an hour after our reservation to be seated and weren't the only ones in the same boat. I still think it's problematic because there's no point of reservations at that point. Aside from that the decor was very traditional and intimate. Definitely a place to dress nice to. We got the bubbles and berries and cranberry sangria for drinks. They were yummy! I could've had more but the food was filling and too good. For food we went all out for the special occasion and ordered the Edgewater Maki, Prime Tomahawk Ribeye, Broccoli, Mashed potato, and 10 layer chocolate mousse cake for dessert. We both agreed we loved the sushi most and wanted more but the steak was so big so we couldn't do it. The steak was flavorful but something was missing. For some reason it tasted better the next day after reheating on the stove. Sides were good too. Broccoli was a bit dry for me. If you're a chocolate lover I recommend that 10 layers because leftovers! Overall great meal and I'll be back for more sushi

Cozy, old school steakhouse in Edgewater! Love this place, 5/5. The vibe is warm, energetic, and inviting. We got a nice booth in the main dining room and, one of the servers, Anthony, was already waiting there to greet us. We had a bunch of menu questions and Anthony was helpful and responsive. The service throughout the evening was excellent. The food was amazing, each dish was better than the last. For my drink, I got a maple bacon Manhattan, it was delicious and had actual bacon in the beverage which was a nice touch. We got the colossal crab meat cocktail as a starter. Then from the daily menu, we got the Ribeye for two and acorn squash. For dessert, the chocolate banana cream pie. Everything was so so good! Highly recommend this spot for special nights, I will definitely be back!

We had a great dinner at The River Palm Terrace. The sushi was unbelieve and my favorite part (Alpine Maki), one of the best rolls I've ever had. Our others apps were delicious too (French Onion Soup and Thick Cut Bacon). The two steaks were good, my husband's was better than my Filet, I wish it had more flavor. He liked the bone-in rib-eye. Our drinks were great and the creme brulee was fantastic. Our server was short with us at fist but then she opened up and was really nice towards the end. We will be back to try other things!

We love the steak here! It's on our top 5 list, including steakhouses in the city. We had the porterhouse, cooked medium, creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Also got the shallot butter and au poivre sauce on the side. Loved the au poivre. I also love the flaky salt that they offer you to add as you please on your steak. The creamed spinach I would not order again, but everything else was perfect. I think adding some fontina or parm cheese to the creamed spinach would give the side dish exactly what it needs to make it great. Service was pretty good. We did have to look around for our waitress for about 15 minutes before being able to order, but otherwise she was pretty on top of it. In the past, we didn't have to wait for a server, they were constantly checking if we needed anything. Ambience: old-school steakhouse/good place to eat lunch or dinner with your family. Lots of families celebrating birthdays, couples having dinner, or friend groups meeting up- all ages. They offered three seating rooms. One upstairs, which is quieter. And two dining options, downstairs, one in the bar, and similar dining to upstairs on the main floor, but louder than the upstairs room. Definitely will return. Don't hesitate, book River Palm! And yes, you normally need a reservation

It may be hard to believe, but this was my first dining experience at the River Palm Terrace. I've heard so many great things from friends and relatives. My friend and I went during lunch time. There is valet parking available for lunch and dinner hours. I was impressed with the extensive menu including specials. I ordered the 8oz. filet mignon. This came with an onion ring, baked potatoes, and string beans. My meal was cooked to my liking. I also enjoyed the variety of sauces. We additionally ordered the tuna, grilled octopus, and spicy Hugo spritzes. Lastly, the coconut cake was a summer special dessert. It was delicious! The cake paired with a cappuccino was a perfect way to end our lunch. Friendly staff and excellent service.

Theres no reason to rate this spot anything but a 5/5 stars. The food was phenomenal, with an array of selections and a menu that would even make a diner blush. What we got: Fair-lawn Maki: 10/10 Manhattan Maki: 10/10 Clams Casino: 11/10 Coconut Shrimp: 10/10 Prime Dry aged Porterhouse for Two: 30/10 The Desserts: 15/10 Amazing service from our waiter Joe with a great (dimly lit) ambiance. I cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

I have always wanted to try this place. I used to have to go to the Englewood hospital every week for 6 months and I passed this place every time. I would say to my husband, "we should go there!". Well, I finally went this past Christmas Eve for dinner with my family. It was a madhouse! So packed! (Good for them!) We had a 7pm reservation and when we arrived there were at least 5 other parties standing around the host stand waiting to be seated. We were seated about 10min after 7, which is fine, especially when it's so crowded. We were given a nice booth. Our server was a very friendly young woman who seemed to be running at 100mph! I am always amazed at those kind of servers. Now for the disappointing part, the food. I had heard good things from friends, so I didn't think I'd have to worry about the food. Our steak was a bit over cooked and pretty tough. We asked for the most melt-in-your-mouth cut of steak they have and this was what she recommended. We ordered it medium rare and there were only a few dark pink pieces. And it was seared a little too much on top. The sushi was also a miss. I guess I should have expected that at a steak place, but again, people recommended it. The sushi was just very American. I thought it was going to be high quality fish and cut well. It was like any fast-food sushi place in the us. The cocktails were good and strong though!

    Lobster bisque

My boyfriend and I recently celebrated his birthday at The River Palm Terrace and we had a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting and our wait staff was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. While a couple of menu items were unavailable...the staff handled everything professionally and offered great alternatives. We stared with a pitcher of the Sangria which was perfect! My boyfriend originally ordered the prime rib but our waitress returned to let us know that only one boneless cut piece remained. He instead chose the T-bone, which was cooked to perfection and ended up being an excellent choice. We had also planned to order the zucchini blossoms but they had sold out for the evening so I opted for the lobster bisque instead. It was rich, flavorful and absolutely delicious. For my entrée I enjoyed the filet mignon with hash browns both prepared beautifully. We also shared the otoro crispy rice sushi, which was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. To top off the birthday celebration we ordered the Banana Nutella cake. The portion was very generous and the dessert was delicious & the perfect ending to a memorable meal. They even sang Happy Birthday! Despite a few items being unavailable the outstanding service, excellent food and welcoming atmosphere made for a special birthday dinner. We look forward to returning!

Absolutely fabulous experience, from the food to the service, and the drinks. This is an all around top notch dining experience and I highly recommend it. Steaks are cooked perfectly, large seafood selection as well and some of the most beautiful looking sushi I saw going past my table. French onion soup truly one of the best, not salty at all, just delicious. What's so great about this restaurant they have a price point for everyone. Dinner menu is priced like any other high end steakhouse but their lunch menu is incredibly priced. Desserts are made in house, they have their own baker... highly recommend chocolate banana cream pie... outstanding.

Met my son here tonight. This place brings you back in time . Warm and inviting with celebrity pics all over . Started with Rockefeller oysters wow so fresh and juicy. Eggplant rollentini was great nice and crispy with nice filling . I ordered the rib eye. Came with mash potatoes and snap peas. It was lunch so it wasn't a thick piece. It was nice and charred but it was very thin. Was very enjoyable. Wife has a fish sandwich. Crispy outside and tender inside. Open steak sandwich was amazing. Fillet mignon laid over bread We had to try their homemade chocolate banana cream pie . Omg it was really amazing. Creamy and stacked . Eddie was our waiter he was really great. Knowledgeable and helped us through the menu. Place is very dark and loud but that's the charm of it. Valet parking makes it easy. Definitely will come back for dinner. Lunch pretty reasonable

The River Palm Terrace Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The River Palm Terrace

Is there parking at location or nearby?

You may be able to park on the residential street next to the restaurant but you'd have to check the sign. I valet.

    Is this place kid friendly?

Earlier in the day yes, at night it's more of an adult place.

Are they seriously charging $5 for a salad that comes with an entree now even if you don't want it or order it?

Yes, they are charging $5 for the used-to-be "free" salad. No, you are not obligated to order it. The waiters ask if you want salad when they take your order.

Do they charge extra if you bring a cake for a birthday celebration?

I asked them as I am sitting here... not at lunch but at dinner.

How is parking in this area? I looked on maps and did not see parking structures within walking distance. Does the restaurant have its own lot for guests? If street parking is it typically hard to find parking and is it metered?

The establishment has valet parking. You don't have to worry about parking.

Can men come in with jeans and a button down?

Absolutely! That is what my male friends wear.

Do they still have outdoor seating?

    No there isn't

I have a reservation for weekend lunch, T-bone steak is not available at lunch?

You can order it off of the dinner menu. My husband orders steak dinner all the time while I eat off the lunch menu

Do they allow You to bring your own wine with corkage fee?

You don't need to, they have an amazing liquor and wine menu.

I made a reservation and they said it would be "upstairs". Is this good?

Depends what you like. Downstairs definitely busier and more of a trendy bar atmosphere. Upstairs white table cloths, quiet.

Is the outside dining section heated?

I WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN IF IT WAS THE LAST RESTAURANT OPEN! ITS HORRIBLE!!!!!!

What is the ambience in the tent outside and is it hot under the tent? Also is there loud music? Is it romantic at all?

The ambience was beautiful and refreshing reminded me of a romantic night in Paris

Someone told me they have a special lunch menu. Is this correct?

Yes they do have a lunch menu and I think it’s priced moderately compared to dinner.

How much is an average bill for 2?

    $160 + tax + tip

Would anyone recommend this restaurant or is Ruth's Chris better?

Hope this helps, I took my wife there recently we ordered the porterhouse for two, hash brown casserole, creamed spinach, two 7oz stone crab claws, both had a coke. No alcohol. The bill came to $215 which is an average price for a nice steak house…

    Can you bring outside wine?

Unfortunately, we are unable to serve any outside brought wine.

Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. The Restaurant With No Food…read more This was honestly one of the funniest experiences of my adult life. The ambiance was amazing but it took 2.5 hours to be served 4 incomplete courses of a $350 prefixe meal on Valentines Day. The food was good but the portions were so small that my girlfriend and I could not stop laughing. By the time we received two of the three deserts I paid for, after not receiving on of the "snacks" and one of the "appetizers", we were in tears with laughter. The waitstaff was very polite, even though they had almost nothing to serve. The C Battery sized scallop cannoli appetizers (which tasted amazing) arrived in an oversized clamshell on top of a napkin, on a tea saucer, in a bowl! A for effort on the presentation but it definitely was overkill. We never got the Red Snapper and broth. The Lamb Wellington (again, tasted amazing) couldn't fill your imagination. The apple tart (about the size of a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup) also tasted amazing. However, it came with a 2 foot apple peel fruit roll up as a garnish which tasted great but after such a long wait for food, I couldn't help but yell out "this better not be paper!" Most people would be furious but this truly felt like an episode of Seinfeld. Kramer trying to explain to George how it was about the experience. George yelling "but there was no food!". Jerry going "eh, ya kinda need food if you're gonna call yourself a restaurant!" Elaine agreeing with Jerry. Several couples walked out after sitting at a table for over an hour with just drinks. Some tables were fortunate enough to have enough money to splurge on the $6 bread basket that was not included in the price. We laughed so hard at the entire affair that we didn't even mind being held hostage for two and a half hours. To top it off, we were given two complimentary glasses of champagne. My girlfriend is allergic to champagne and the waiter walked away so fast he didn't even hear me say it. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place if you're hungry or have plans after.

I think there were three or four other tables throughout our dinner. The food was good. I wouldn't say great but it wasn't bad. Service was mostly excellent, though when we were finished with our mains we wanted to see a dessert menu but none came and we had to flag down our server just to get our check.

What a gem! We found Elea as we were walking around the uws. This is on a side street, which was…read morequieter and less noisy than on the main Columbus or Amsterdam avenues. Elea has an outdoor shed which was covered and very nice. We got a table in this shed with our baby and dog. The service was friendly. We ordered several dishes to share, the fried calamari, grilled octopus and lavraki, all on the lunch menu. I really enjoyed every single dish! I was so craving the fried calamari and this really hit the spot, I loved the dipping sauce (which was a light tomato's based sauce but it was not exactly marinara). I loved the octopus especially with hummus! And the fish which was a lot with 2 fillets of lavraki with a large portion of spinach! So yummy, we will absolutely be back and can't wait!

A pretty and buzzing restaurant on the UWS. We stopped by on a hot summer Friday night and got…read moreseated downstairs in the main dining room. Started with the olives, big and briny, then the spanikopita and three dips and pita. The dips, fine, nothing special, not very prettily presented, especially the fava, which was a heavy tasteless dud. The pita was cold and something you could pick up at a supermarket. But then things looked up. The grilled shrimp were plump and beautiful on a bed of salad and oranges. The mussels were delicious, with broth and tomato and feta and two big chunks of grilled bread - why couldn't they do this with the pita? Wine by the glass good and service was very nice but I think we only saw our server twice. Once was when she presented our check with the 20, 22, 25 option. But all in all it was pleasant! Lots of families if you have kids and want a nice dinner in a place that makes kids comfortable.

Seriously, there has to be something wrong with you. My sister is one of the pickiest eaters that I know. Always has been and always will be. She just started eating raw onions several years ago and still doesn't like cooked onions. Even she was able to find something at Jacob's Pickles and it delicious. With regards to the rest of what we ordered, we ordered the Hog In A Blanket as our appetizer and both my daughter and sister ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. I ordered the Turkey Leg braised in white wine and served with whipped potatoes, Rosemary Biscuit Stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy. The Hogs in a Blanket were their version of Pigs In a Blanket. The major difference being that Jacob's Pickles are served in puff pastry and with their own house made pickles. Yummy! The salmon salad was served with baby greens, sliced oranges, red onion, cilantro and a light orange vinaigrette. Everything and I do mean everything was delicious. It was a gut-buster of a meal and everything was perfectly prepared. The salmon was expertly cooked and the turkey literally fell away from the bone and tendons of the turkey leg. Just plain old good food in an attractive homey setting wins out all of the time! It's a must go!

We ordered the fried pickles appetizer, which were pretty good. I ordered the smash burgers and the ratio of bun to meat was laughable. The bun was 3" thick and all I tasted was bread. I have no idea how the meat was because I was eating mostly bun. The fries were nothing special, just whatever they order in frozen. My friend ordered the Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich. It came with burned bacon and over-fried green tomatoes that I tried, but were so chewy they were inedible. She said the chicken was also over-fried and dry. She said the cole slaw was spicy and flavorful and so moist that it made the dry chicken edible. Our third friend ordered a salad (I forget which - some kind of wedge) and she said it was pretty OK.
