I've been coming to Dr Curtis for dental cleanings since 2006 after I knocked a tooth out surfing. Since then I've been coming in every 6 months for cleanings and a few superficial fillings; even got set up with Invisalign to straighten my teeth out in 2015. You want to know how good Dr Curtis is? I lived in Southern California for 7 months last year and flew back to Seattle from San Diego just to get my teeth cleaned. I'm very particular about dentists since I get anxiety and have sensitive teeth, so I decided its worth staying with Dr Curtis even if it means catching a flight to get to my appointments! read more

When I started going here they seemed nice, and the cleanings weren't too bad. However after a few visits Kathy started finding more and more procedures I needed. On the last visit I had a 2 root canals that I don't think I needed. I should have gotten a second opinion so partially my fault. After that visit my teeth that had the root canals turned yellow. Which was never mentioned as a side effect of the procedure even the waiver I signed had no mention of it. They weren't very helpful and offered to fix it for several hundred dollars per tooth! No thank you I will take my business elsewhere from now on. read more

This is a great place. Been going here for years, easy to schedule, friendly staff and quick and painless procedures. I had a terrible tooth ache once when the doctor was out of town and the receptionist found a dentist on my plan near me right away. Even stayed on the phone with me until I found the building. Always goes above and beyond. From cavities to my new beautiful veneers. I recommend this place to my co-workers ALL the time. I'm long overdue leaving this review and (shame on me) for not stopping going to see Dr. Curtis long ago. Probably provider inertia. I mean really, how often to you change doctors, accountants, etc.? Generally over priced -- with the exception of routine cleaning -- every other service required me to foot extra $$ above any insurance coverage. Plus there is often subtle and more blatant upselling of products and services. See other reviews with similar commentary. So why post today? I was booked for a 40-minute appt in mid-afternoon. I work on the Eastside so essentially lost a half-day at work. Thanks to the commute, I was 10 minutes late for my appointment (one for every year I had been going to Dr. Curtis). They couldn't see me because they needed an hour. So it wouldn't have mattered if I had been 10 minutes early. No advance planning on their part. No admission of error. No visit from Dr. Curtis, just let her assistant tell me they couldn't work on me. Good riddance. read more

I've been going to Kathy for about 2 years. I haven't had any problems and my experience here has been great. I haven't had any advanced procedures, just some fillings. I dropped one star since they try to sell me a $500 mouth guard every time. But all dentists do this now, even if a $25 over the counter one will do. read more

Dr. Curtis has been my dentist for the past 8 years. I've had cleanings, fillings, crowns, and a night guard done there and all of them have been perfect. Dr. C is knowledgeable and gives just the right amount of information about the procedures. She's far better than my previous two dentists, especially when it comes to giving anesthetic shots; I can't recall one time over the years where I had a painful experience there. The office is nicely designed and decorated with work from local artists, and the cushy recliners in the waiting area are great. Also, the location is very convenient if you work or live downtown; it's right on the 3rd Avenue bus corridor. read more

I have been going to Dr Curtis since 2004. She and her staff have been great to work with. Very friendly and professional. Their office is really cool in terms of it's design and layout. In the lobby she has all of this artwork that either she or other artist friends have done. While you are in the rooms you have floor to ceiling (20 feet up) glass to look out while contemplating why you hadn't flossed more. I know she does some ortho work as well as general dentistry including Invisalign. Only missing one star because she isn't listed on my list of preferred providers for Ameritas Dental insurance. read more

I have been going to Kathy Curtis for years, and I have always had the best experiences there! Dr Curtis is honest and genuine. Both of her hygienists are gentle and kind. I have a very sensitive mouth, which has made me very dental phobic. I am no longer scared to go to the dentist. Whenever I get dental work done Dr Curtis and her hygienists remember where all of my sensitive spots are and do a really good job of being careful. I don't even have to remind them, which makes me feel like a patient that matters. The best part of going to see Dr Curtis is that she remembers things that are going on in my life and always asks about that and also about my family. Whenever I need dental treatment, Dr Curtis always does a really good job in explaining what I need done and why. She is patient and always answers my questions. She gives me a detailed estimate of what my insurance will pay for and what part I will be responsible for. Then she leaves the decision up to me without pressure. There has never been any pressure! I had to write this review, not only because it is an accurate account of all my experiences over the years, but also because I want people to know the truth about this wonderful dentist and not believe one negative person that got work done and didn't want to pay his bill. Like I said, there is never any pressure to get any work done, and when I decide that I that I am ready for Dr. Curtis to do work on me she ALWAYS gives me an estimate. It is up to me to proceed and to make payment arrangements if need be, and that also has been easy to arrange. I highly recommend this dentist!!!!! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Curtis' for over 2 years now. When I first started going to Dr. Curtis I was really embarrassed because I had very crooked teeth and was not an every day flosser. However, Dr. Curtis made me feel welcome and that she genuinely cared about helping me improve my smile. Dr. Curtis is very kind and gentle and I have never felt pressured to proceed with any treatment. She also does a thorough job explaining any of her recommendations. Dr. Curtis and her staff are a great group of people. They are very in sync with each other and communicate well. When I am in the office, Dr. Curtis and her staff make me feel like I am their only patient. They take the time to listen to my concerns and never double book my appointment, so I get the best individualized care. I would highly recommend Dr. Curtis to anyone .... you would be in great hands here, literally! read more

I seriously disliked this dentist office! I couldn't get an appointment with my regular dentist and had to have just a cleaning by the end of the year for insurance purposes. It was the WORST cleaning I had ever recieved- my mouth hurt for 2 days afterwards!! Also, Dr. Curtis told me that I needed 6 fillings, 6!!! I've only had 2 in my entire life, so I made an appoinment at my regular dentist, Dr. Sako, and I actually only needed 2 fillings! Needless to say, I won't be going back there again- I did not have a good experience at all. read more

I was a former client. Their cleanings are okay. The problem I have with them and which caused me to never go back is because of the crown they gave me. Still hurts when I drink cold water and I can't really bite down on it. The experience on getting the crown was terrible. I had to get it RE-SIZED 3 times!!! First resizing problem they said was from their vendor in which I said okay, no problem. Second time the dentist assistant measured it incorrectly, so was it way off. It had to be re-sent to their vendor again. Third time, it still was the incorrect size (they didn't say if it was the vendor or their fault) so guess what options the dentist gave me... She said she can SHAVE MY TOOTH DOWN or they can send it back to the vendor. Needless to say, I choose the latter option but for the dentist to even mention the first option displays a total LACK of professionalism. For each visit I had to take time off work and of the two times where the crown was the incorrect size I already got a Novocaine shot. When they finally finish the crown I spoke to the receptionist and ask for a discount. She said to let her speak to Kathy (dentist) and she came back 5 minutes later that she would give me a $50 discount on my next visit. I guess they knew I was never going back. I paid the $500+ and never went back. The only reason they get the one star is because the receptionist is nice, plus Yelp forces at least one star. I've been seeing Dr. Curtis four times a year for nearly a decade--she's the only dentist I've ever looked forward to seeing! The office is beautiful and features floor-to-vaulted ceiling windows that are calming to look out and admire the view while sitting in the chair. Micky at the front desk and the hygienists all remember details I casually mention at previous appointments and make me feel almost at home, which seems like such an odd thing to say about a dentist office, but there you go! As far as the actual care goes, treatment and cleanings have always been extremely thorough and they always make sure I get the most out of my insurance coverage! I once called in seeking emergency treatment and they were able to see me immediately. I always recommend Dr. Curtis's office whenever someone mentions looking for a new dentist. read more

I have had the worst experience with this dentist. I got a cleaning there and they advised me I needed a deep cleaning since I hadn't been to the dentist for a while. Once they knew they had me back for the deep cleaning, the did a VERY meager job cleaning my teeth. I have never had a worse cleaning. Later I received a large bill in the mail for their services. I called them and asked if there was any way they could reduce the bill. I called bak 3 times over 1.5 weeks and finally got the answer that they couldn't do anything. Needless to say I won't be going back. When I went to the dentist the first time, I wondered how a dentist could be in a swanky downtown building. It's because they rape their customers that's how. Kathy is a kind and courteous doctor. My problem is how the office/billing is handled. I was sent a bill for services that were almost a year old. Because they service was so long ago my insurance would not cover it, so they sent me the bill. Make sure that they bill your insurance in a timely manner or you'll get stuck with the bill. read more
