I took our long hair cat here for a buzz cut recently. I didn't have high hopes for this cat's level of cooperation for the service. A little while after dropping this cat off, I was called to come pick her up as she was shaved and bathed! I picked up the most fresh and well groomed version of this cat I've ever seen! I love this place. I've been going there for many years to take my medium haired calico Patches for nail trimming and baths. I just took her there for a flea bath. (Poor thing is an indoor cat). You can't beat their prices or customer service. They are a little hard to find. Drive slow or you will drive right by the white building. I highly recommend them read more

O k. Never was a dog owner But my daughter llapso-poo for her birthday. After getting all of his shots, he was finally allow to go to the groomers. Took him to petsmart, What's charged a $110! Average job. Then everybody starts talking about a place called "kathy's" in Dundalk. Now when I say everybody, I mean EVERYBODY! Neighbors, Co workers, Friends, Strangers, EVERYBODY! So I finally book an appointment, Had to wait about 2 and a 1/2 weeks., DropPED HIM OFF , When I went to pick him up! I was literally blown away. They did the most splendid job. He literally looked like he went to a dominican hair salon for a hair straightening treatment. His hair was so soft and fluffy. It literally like blew in the wind. And I usually don't talk this much, But I don't think you realize the job that they did. It was absolutely incredible. He smelled so good. It's been three days and I can literally smell the scent of him through the entire house! And that's not even the most amazing part, They only charge me $40.! Oh, my God. I am telling you if you have an animal and you don't go here you are missing out! Understaff was so nice! Unbelievable. I would give them a hundred stars if possible! read more

They need to add "and Cat" to their business name. Frank (the cat) had a clip, shave, and a bath with Amanda. She did better work than we've seen. Most importantly, he was obviously less stressed by the visit than all of his grooming visits before. Loved this place! As this being my first time taking my cat to a groomers I was very apprehensive, but they did such a great job on my baby! I took my cat in for a flea bath because we were going on vacation and she was coming so I wanted to be precautious, when I got her back she wasn't scared or trembling! She came back as if she had the best time , I just know that they treated her well and provided her with the best care. She looks and smells great and I was ver pleased with my visit! They did a great job grooming her and even got the fur around her booty brushed out and shortened a lot! I have had my cat groomed here for at least seven years. They are really the only place that groom cats because typically cats can be very difficult. If you have an unruly animal that is not used to grooming- it may take a few times. But again unless your cat is quite young, they get used to being groomed and love the end result. We get our cat groomed in a lions cut approx twice a year. They are always professional, have easy drop off, call you when they are done- usually about 2pm and are always friendly. Family owned and same groomers- you can expect the same treatment every time. Who wouldn't want to support a local small business! Their prices of $60 to groom a cat is very reasonable. Places like Petsmart and PetCo will only do cats if they have an individual groomer that is willing to do it. I met a woman that worked in the Golden Ring plaza's pet center that told me she would never groom a cat again- she was attack by a cat that she had groomed for five straight years and she was an experienced groomer for over 15 years-but that day I guess the cat wasn't in the mood. She showed me her scars all over her arms. It was a horrible site. I mention this because I read another review from a first timer at Kathy's that was very disappointed. I'm sure he was upset he didn't get the result he hoped for- a "groomed cat" but cat scratches are very dangerous and in worst cases an animal may have to be sedated to be groomed. If in fact the last reviewer does have a wife that is allergic- it might be important to note that people typically aren't allergic to the hair but the dander on the animals' skin- long hair or a short haired cat will not make a difference. Bottom line, A groomer shouldn't have to risk her safety to do her job. Lastly- your appointment is scheduled for the following week. They do book up so that is a clear indication that they have many happy return customers. read more

This business is a God send! We have a large (20 pounds) tabby who was having trouble keeping his back end clean. We tried to keep up with it at home but eventually found Kathy's Dog Grooming Salon and had her shave his hind end. She also found that he had matted hair by his privates and took care of that as well.......all for $5! Our Ginger is like a kitten again! I can't thank them enough! read more

My husband took our dog Buddy to Kathy's Dog Grooming in Dundalk (Wise Ave). They did a TERRIBLE job. Buddy is shaved to the skin on his chest, neck, parts of his stomach and his right haunch. Tony asked that Buddy's ears, legs and tail not be cut. They cut his ear hair, shaved his legs and shaved the top few inches of his tail. I am very upset and will be visiting the shop to talk to the owner /manager. Buddy looks like a blind person who hates animals cut his hair. And it does not like they bathed him either. I literally did not recognize my own dog when I first saw him this evening. read more

This "pet salon" advertises that they groom cats as well - a must since my wife is allergic to my domestic long hair. I have buzzed my cat multiple times, but could never get an even look, so I took him to Kathy's after calling and double-checking that they do cats. Well, they "couldn't" groom him - the woman said he wouldn't sit still, moved around the room, and clawed and tried to bite her - to which I responded, "uh, he's a cat." Apparently they only groom angelic animals. She was rude, had an attitude and didn't bother to ask pertinent questions on the phone - apparently they don't want to bother grooming older cats (8), cats that haven't been "professionally" groomed (I buzz him all the time), and cats that won't sit perfectly still (are there any of those?). Anyway, this person told me all of this AFTER I had driven 25 minutes and dropped my cat off for several hours. I was frustrated to say the least, but politely said, "perhaps these are things you should ask customers on the phone," to which she responded "it's your responsibility to tell us these things" - um, how can I read your mind? How do I know what you can and can't do, if you tell me you groom cats all the time? Don't bother with Kathy's - they're a cheap, rude, unprofessional operation. read more
