This Petco on Boston Street has become my go-to store. I come here pretty regularly, mostly because it's convenient and I can usually get in and out without any issues. Most of the time, I place my order online and just stop in to pick it up. My orders have always been ready, and the pickup process is quick and easy. If I had one complaint, it's that the store seems a little understaffed, especially at the front registers. There have been a few times when I've had to wait because there was only one person checking customers out. It's not a huge deal, but it's something I've noticed over the years. Other than that, I really don't have any complaints. The staff has always been friendly, the store is clean, and they usually have what I need. What more could you ask for? read more

This is my local Petco, so I bring Toby here as a treat. He was recently diagnosed with the dog version of carpal tunnel so I came in for a brace. I'd been doing some reasearch on-line, but wanted one more sooner than later. But, they don't have them in the store, so, you should know that. But of course, there are still items in the store you never knew you needed! I purchased some food topper and got him some treats from the treat bar. This Petco has a good selection of dog food and supplies. It's located in the Canton shopping center so there is a lot of parking available. When I went there was a huge water spill on the floor, so they had to close off a part of the store which included one whole aisle of dog supplies, which was quite unfortunate. They do have a vaccination clinic inside as well as a grooming station. read more

I don't know why anyone is complaining about this place! We went to the Vetco with our 12 week old kitten and the service was excellent! We arrived early and we're taken back almost immediately. Shamia (Shamya?, sorry if I misspelled), the vet tech was absolutely lovely; very nice, thorough, explained everything very well (prices, packages etc ). Yvonne at the pet grooming center is amazing... all the staff are. Our corgi loves Yvonne and will actually let her cut his nails without growling... something he doesn't let anyone else do. The store is huge and has a massive selection of everything a Petco should. They have tons of supplies for all kinds of pets; dogs, cats, birds, lizards, fish, etc. Parking is plentiful and the location is convenient... it's in the canton industrial area shopping center. You can drop off your dog for grooming and hit the stores and restaurants in the area. They also have a self service grooming area if you want to wash your dog yourself. Prices are reasonable, and you can use the website to check availability or have items shipped to the store if they are not in stock. I love supporting local businesses but honestly we gave up on local supply stores and groomers after some bad experiences with groomers, food availability, and prices. read more

I took Cannoli in for his regular groom and had a terrible experience. First one ever. He's been getting groomed there since I rescued him in January 2020. Chelsea groomed him and the next day I phoned to ask if the hair on the side of his face could be clippered shorter. I was nice enough to wait until after the weekend, which was easier for Chelsea. When I took him in, I was right at the beginning of a migraine and apologized for not coming in early, but that I was starting a migraine. She looked up and said, "Oh we can't do the face touch up. We don't have his rabies record." I was shocked and said, "Oh, no! No one told me to bring it. I brought it last week when he got groomed." This chick says, "I'm just kidding. I was thinking how mean it would be to make a joke like that to someone who has a headache." Why is that funny? I drew a line down his face with my finger and said, "So, from the tear duct back, can we have it clipped the same length as his body? Please leave his moustache and beard fluffy, we like them big." She assured me this was easy and no problem. She took Cannoli back and scissor cut the sides but not short enough. I said I was sorry to be so picky, but could she could she please clip the sides to match the body, not touch the beard or moustache. She brought him back having scissor cut ONE side of his moustache, which looks like it's been cut with a lawn mower and is shorter than the other side. When I asked her if she had clipped the moustache, she said yes, to make sure "it wasn't sticky-outie." When I pointed out that his moustache is now uneven, she said, "Oopsie." The manager, Samantha, told me that since I am getting a refund (which I did not ask for or expect), I was not welcome to get my grooming there any longer. This groomer, Chelsea is a child and the manager, Samantha really seemed to blame me. I can understand why they are losing groomers. read more

Had my dog for 4 hours then gaslight me by the head groomer saying that he has been there several times before and she has had to help groomers with him. He's only been groomed once their over 6 months ago? It was the end of the day at this point and they just didn't feel like grooming a puppy. They should have just not taken the appointment instead of wasting my time and gas. They had a lot of dogs and probably were tired. But when people lie I just don't trust them. If you ever go to VETCO CLINICS , please be prepared and do your research on pet care 1st. I know I used to recommend them to many people,but their management and call center, and managers of the call center are complete idiots. They don't know the BASIC protocol on how vaccines work and they won't give you any credit when THEY mess up on THEIR part smh ‍‍‍‍. There are other mobile clinics and they have similar prices. This updated review is not for the petco it's left but rather the vet center. As you can see from the text message I arrived within the 5min grace period and responded to her message when I arrived. Since if did not get a reply for a few minutes I decided to walk inside. The vetco check in receptionist proceeded to tell me I arrived after the 5minutes although I showed her the message and said my dog won't be seen for his booster. The next available appointment isn't for another month! She was extremely rude and unhelpful. I asked if there's a number to call and she said I call customer service but they probably won't be helpful. She said the text message is for corporate so they can't see it which makes no sense if that's the only appointment reminder/ verification clients get. I am extremely disappointed and annoyed since I left work early and they refused to administer my dog his booster. The entire time the check in lady was talking to me I could see the vet and the vet techs in the exam room chit chatting with NO other animal in the room so they could've simply given my dog his vaccine. read more

Yvonne is the best in the city in terms of doodle grooming!! We bring Blue to Yvonne ONLY after trying several different groomers in the Baltimore/Annapolis region and paying outrageous amounts for a groom. With Yvonne & Petco we always leave satisfied with Blue's doodle haircut- she truly does it right! Yvonne is kind, friendly, and patient with our very anxious doodle (grooms can take up to 5 hours & Yvonne doesn't stop til she has Blue looking well groomed!). Her scheduling is flexible and she is always willing to fit Blue in when it works best for our schedules. We can't thank Yvonne enough and will continue to have her groom Blue for as long as we can!! I've been waiting two months for a grooming appointment with Yvonne -- I always have to book really far out with her. My dog is matted and hot, and it's beyond time, so I was glad today was the day. I show up today and they said, "Oh, sorry, Yvonne isn't here. She's on vacation. She said she tried to call you and left several messages." I of course didn't receive a call or any messages or I wouldn't have shown up there. I actually received confirmation texts from the store last week and THIS MORNING saying "Looking forward to seeing you at 11:00 at Baltimore Canton". We've been a loyal Petco customer since we got our dog (food, training, grooming) but this is beyond irritating -- especially because he really needs a haircut and I feel for him. I appreciate the niceness of the girls at the grooming desk but this was such a simple thing. Communication would have alleviated all of this. Maybe I'm overreacting but this was a huge waste of time. Between this and the fact that it takes two months to get an appointment, we'll never be back for grooming. Side note: I was told today that online booking doesn't really "work", so you have to call or go in to book an appointment for grooming. This is unfortunate because I've tried numerous times over the past year to get someone on the phone in grooming (and have left a message or two) and never heard back - so I gave up using the phone. He was matted since it has been around 5-6 months since his last cut elsewhere. She did such a good time, definitely request her! read more

I have brought my dogs to this place for the last 5 years or so...I'm putting this out there because this just pisses me off. Now the manager is taking care of the issue by taking off the tip of my credit card but probably not doing anything about the employee who put the tip on my credit card. I would double check your receipts to ensure that there is nothing added. He asked if I wanted to put a tip on and I said I would give it in cash. He made a sound like yeah right....like mmhhhmm or something. Really didn't think of it and my spouse looked at the receipt and saw the tip was on because he was going to pick up the dog. I told him I hadn't tipped yet. We have been going to them and always tip in cash because we know that they have always taken care of our dogs especially when it was towards the end of their time. So whatever reason this guy put the tip on my check...just pissed me off royally and makes me question the integrity of the practices of this place. 1 person makes everyone look bad...sad. read more

The aquarium department at this location is consistently disappointing. Decor supplies are limited. Fish selection is also pretty limited. Have consistently found that their goldfish suffer from fin rot and walked away without purchasing at least twice. Have recently been trying to set up a new tropical tank and was off-put by the inability to purchase any kind of fish because of their need to all be medicated for several days. That, combined with the consistently sick goldfish, and I get the feeling that the aquaculturists here leave some to be desired. read more

Evonne did such an awesome job with my dog today! I wish I had taken before photos, so you could see the hot mess I brought into the grooming center this morning. Just think three inches of hair with matts and knots and dirt and god knows what else. The winter has not been kind to my dogs coat, but Evonne worked magic on her. She looks awesome, she's so happy, and Evonne was so kind and nice throughout the whole thing. We will definitely be going back and requesting her again! read more

I took my senior white shepherd to Heyleigh for regular grooming for years, and she always did an amazing job (see my other review!). When my dog passed a few months ago, I knew that if I got another, I'd be bringing it to Heyleigh! Fast forward to today, I adopted a new rescue German shepherd, and brought him in to see Heyleigh for a nail trim. He super nervous, and she was patient and kind with him, letting him get used to the sights, smells, and sounds before starting. She really is the best! read more

I was told I didn't need an appointment and to just come back the next day. When I get there I'm asked if I had an appointment and I told girl what happened then asked for current rabies information. I'm starting a betta aquarium - my first planted tank - and came in today to check their aquarium sections for plants and advice after cycling for two weeks and doing a ton of reading. I had equal parts knowledge and questions at this point, and wanted to be sure I was taking the next correct steps in setting my up my tank. I was initially impressed by their availability of aquatic plants: a full, large aquarium stocked just with plants, and others in-water with various fish ready to sell. I was helped by Gale, who was AMAZING at listening to my progress thus far, end goals, and answering all my questions. You could tell how knowledgeable and passionate they were about fish, aquariums and aquascaping, and guided me right to the flora I was looking for to take my next step. If I have more questions, or when I'm ready to get my betta, I'm absolutely coming back here and to Gale in particular. Thanks a ton! read more

This Petco has recently opened in this bright new space, having closed the Petco Unleashed store in nearby Fells Point. As I entered the store, I was greeted by Dalton, one of the dog trainers. He was very friendly and helpful about classes. The grooming area seems spacious. The cashier told me that walk-ins are available for smaller services (nail trims, gland expression, etc.) but that appointments are recommended for shampoos and cuts. Supplies are well stocked and well organized and I was surprised to discover that my high-end dog food costs about the same as when I order through Chewy.com! This is my new pet store! read more

Waited for 30 mins to get my dogs nails trimmed (yes I had an appointment) just for them to tell me they won't be taking my dog anymore. They said she bit the technician at her last appointment a month ago, but no one said anything to me at said appointment about her biting or that she can't come back. My sister who took her to the appointment was watching through the window the entire time, and she also didn't see her bite anyone. The technician had no bite marks, scratches or scars on her arms. There was no record of the incident or any reports written, no emails reaching out and no phone call, no mention at all of a bite until I came in for my next appointment. They definitely discriminated against my American Bully who's never bit anyone in her life. Don't bring your large dogs here, they're easily intimidated and who knows what they'll accuse your pet of. If you own a large breed you know how serious biting accusations are, so protect your pet and take them to ppl who know what they're doing! read more

If i could give this place less than one star I would. I went to petco to get both of my dogs groomed.... they came back with STAFF INFECTION My vet informed me that they probably weren't using clean brushes, nail clipper etc. i'm going to see if I can get a refund... I trusted my babies with petco grooming and they made them sick. I will never EVER be coming back to petco ever again. They should get in trouble for this. The lady that groomed them was wonderful.... and i feel awful leaving this review because i honestly doubt it was her. Im assuming/hoping it was not her fault but that of another employee. My dogs are very skittish and they took very well to her. All of this makes me so sad. Either way....their facilities are not clean. Now my babies have to take 3 kinds of medicine 2x a day for 2 weeks.... i dont even want to explain how much money this has cost me but besides that my babies are not feeling good at all and it hurts my heart that they are suffering through this. read more

Laura the manger very rude and condescending. I went to return an item I brought the day before, after the cashier was having trouble. Laura was called over only to tell me I have to get store credit/ gift card w/o explanation, I stood there in shock. I told her that wasn't acceptable. She then went to the next register only to find out it was a glitch in the last register. I asked her as a manger is she supposed to know the refund policy and register, I said it was unfortunate that that's my nearest PetSmart and I felt upset but the way she handled the situation.
