Shad and her team, particularly Anna, were terrific. We got off to a little bit of a rocky start when we discovered that our dog walker (who was new) was not really walking our dog. When I told Shad, she was extremely apologetic, refunded the walks, and changed the dog walker. I mention this because with most dog walking services, it is up to you to make sure your dog is doing well and you are getting your money's worth. It is like any service that occurs without you there, it is up to you to verify. Shad was always flexible, easy to contact, and accommodating. It was clear to me that she loved dogs and was more than willing to work with us on my dog's needs (who was a senior dog). That is when we met Anna, who is THE BEST. She has a real connection with dogs, and was trustworthy and caring. We left our dog numerous times while traveling with Anna and her family, who were wonderful. My dog loved going over to her house. In the last months of my dog's life, Anna, her family, and Shad were the bright spots. They would physically lift him up to go to the bathroom when his hips gave out (my dog was an 80-lb shepherd). They tolerated his constant barking in the middle of night when he couldn't sleep. They tried to make him as comfortable as possible, and came by the house just to say goodbye to him. I had a few issues come up during my trip and they were more than accommodating - Yvette and Melissa were incredibly communicative and professional. They significantly eased the stress of of my trip. I have an American Bulldog / Yellow Lab mix, so she is a big dog and displays protective behaviors if not handled properly and with authority. I used to have friends watch her when I'm traveling, but I'd worry that they would arrive late, forget, or not have the experience required to handle a 60 pound bully breed. Having professionals who knew how to care for my dog's breed gave me much better peace of mind. I love Kathy's Dog Walking! I have two silly cats, and have had to go out of town unexpectedly more than usual over the past year. I got tired of asking friends to take care of my cats because I feel like it's a burden to them, and what if they forget or something goes wrong? It's nice having peace of mind by hiring professionals. I used to get a bit of anxiety and guilt leaving my cats, and would always worry if they're in good hands. Since I found Kathy's, I don't feel like that anymore! I love their online scheduling system (so easy and practical), their prices are the best I've found in this area (Playa del Rey), and everyone that works there is so caring and you can just tell they truly love animals. I always get a text with some pictures of my cats each time the Petsitter makes a visit. Over Christmas, I got stuck on the east coast for an extra two days because of bad weather and flight cancelations. We had such a great experience with Heather as our dog sitter. So many of our other dog sitters and walkers since moving to the area have been incredibly untrustworthy and cruel to our dogs. We would have never noticed some of it without our doggy cams! But with Heather watching the dogs while we went away for the weekend, we really didn't even feel the need to look at the cams. Heather was always timely (our dogs never had to wait inside miserable!) and she spent the extra time to love on the dogs, wash their dishes, and send us texts and pics. I've been using Kathy's to house-sit my cats for 3-4 years now. And up until recently, the experience has been great. However in the past 6 months things have gone downhill. They keep changing people. We never know who is coming. And our last trip was the worst. We were gone for 2 weeks. I left explicit written instructions on what to do on each visit. These were completely ignored. The cats were well looked after, but nothing else was done. The mailman had to leave mail out on the porch because the mailbox had not been emptied. Our house plants were half-dead because they had not been watered. I had left out some money for the cleaning lady. The money was taken by the cat-sitter under the impression that it was a tip. But that seems like a big assumption to make since there was no note. I tried calling to sort out all these issues, but never got a call back. In any case, we will not be using Kathy's any more. Update 4/11/19: I received emails from Kathy's just after posting this review. Apparently they only got the first of my voicemail messages. They have tried to put things right, including a refund for all their visits during our trip. Which is really more than was needed. So thank you. read more

I have used Kathy's Dog Walking Service for several years now and they are excellent. Kathy came and met me and my dog before I started with them so I could get a vibe from her and ask as many questions as I wanted. It was a great meeting and I've used her ever since. My dog is about 6lbs and has had a few issues with arthritis, but they are really good about taking extra care with him when he has flare ups. I've been home a few times when his walker comes over and he is so excited to see her so I know he is well taken care of. I also love that they give you a little notebook to leave notes about how the walk went and if they noticed anything usual. I requested Ashley to be our dog walker and I couldn't have been happier. We met twice before she entered our home without anyone home and Bowie instantly loved her.
