When I called, I was told that my dog could be seen as long as I sent over her vaccination records showing she was up to date on her vaccines. It took me about 40 minutes to contact my veterinarian, obtain the records, and have them sent over. After they were received, I got a voicemail stating that my dog could not be seen because she did not have the canine influenza vaccine. At no point during the original phone call was I told that the canine influenza vaccine was required. Had that been mentioned from the beginning, I could have saved a significant amount of time during an already stressful situation. When I went to the office to ask for clarification, Delaney's demeanor came across as dismissive and passive-aggressive. She repeatedly stated that my dog was "not fully vaccinated," even though my dog is current on all of her core vaccinations. The issue was not that my dog was behind on her routine vaccines--it was that the hospital also requires the canine influenza vaccine, a requirement that was never communicated to me during my initial call. What upset me the most was not the policy itself. Amherst Animal Hospital is absolutely entitled to require whatever vaccinations it believes are appropriate. My frustration was with the lack of communication and the complete unwillingness to acknowledge that the requirement should have been explained upfront. If Delaney had simply said, "I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that we also require the canine influenza vaccine," I honestly don't think the situation would have escalated. We are all human, and mistakes happen. A sincere apology and a little accountability would have gone a long way toward resolving the situation. Instead, I felt like my concerns were dismissed, and I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong. When I questioned why this wasn't explained initially, I was told, "I don't understand why you're yelling at me," even though I was simply trying to understand why I had spent nearly an hour gathering records for an appointment that was never actually possible under their policy. To the manager's credit, she came out and apologized, and I appreciated that. Unfortunately, by that point, the damage had already been done. The interaction left me feeling disrespected and unheard. This experience is especially disappointing because our family has trusted Amherst Animal Hospital with our pets for veterinary care. They have treated our other dog and our cat, and our in-laws have also been clients. After this experience, however, we all have decided to take our pets elsewhere. Policies are understandable. Poor communication and poor customer service are not. I hope this review encourages the hospital to better communicate its requirements upfront and reminds staff that a simple apology and a little empathy can make all the difference.

I also confirmed that I could drop my dogs off at 915 for an 11am appointment doing to my work schedule. All of the items mentioned were confirmed. When I husband dropped the dogs off he was met by Alyssa who was clearly upset the dogs arrived early. When he picked up the dogs it was obvious they didn't have their nails trimmed, paw pads cleaned up and their sanitation area was still not trimmed. I called and spoke with Alyssa and she apologized and asked me to bring them back again on 9/12 at 4pm. We too them in and once again their sanitation area was not done. I called and complained to a manager and he told me I'd have to pay for a base grooming session but he'd give me free add one for my conscience. This solution is unacceptable. I paid $120 before tip for two dogs and the service I paid for didn't get done TWO times. Why would have I pay for anything considering I didn't even get done what I had already paid for?

After standing by the tanks and having 3 store employee's walk past me, I had to go ask for help. I purchased 6 medium comets for our tank at work. I took him to a pet store once and they complained he was "too squirmy". Umm he's a puppy! So I looked on Yelp (of course) and found that Lydia's was not too far. I scheduled an appointment and got my fluffy baby in. The place is smaller than one might be used to. Lydia is super nice and so is her staff. She understood that my Ares was 1. A puppy and 2. Had some serious separation anxiety. I told her how I DIDN'T want him cut and she 100% understood the assignment. My baby looked GREAT afterwards. She had to cut him low because he was all tangled (sigh) but he looked amazing. She's our groomer period. She takes good care of the animals while they are in her care. Her prices are normal and there are no surprises. I know what I'm paying every time. Not to mention, I love supporting small businesses! If you have a fur baby that needs a good cut and are on this side of town, give Lydia's a call. You won't be disappointed.

She's very knowledgeable and is very reasonable in all aspects of her practice. Her office is small and does get full. They don't give appointments, get there early. I highly recommend her! Now for the grooming. I have schnauzers, they have a specific kind of Haircut. They have always been washed, cut properly at her grooming service. Ali, the groomer is very patient and careful. The dogs come out looking beautiful and clean. They cut their nails, clean their ears, blowout! Also very well priced! Overall I would give this vet/grooming service a 10!
