what was asked for what we got

DO NOT RECOMMEND We started using The Cakery about 2 years ago for family celebrations. The first cake we got was phenomenal. Better than we could have even hoped. They were able to cut out the shape of a leotard and make it sparkle. So we started making them our go-to bakery for every family function. After the first cake, however, they took a turn for the worst. We sent emails with specifics on simple cakes and they came back to us looking nothing like what we wanted with things we specifically told them NOT to do. They refused to stack a tiered cake for a family members anniversary/vow renewal so we had to buy our own supplies and pray we didn't drop a cake or mess up the frosting. On the same cake we asked for an ombré effect and we got 3 cakes with 3 completely different colors that did not fade into each other at all. (They later said they didn't even look at the email we sent) We have gone there at least 7 times since our first experience hoping each time it was just a secluded bad experience and we've finally had to come to the conclusion that this place is NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Our most recent experience was with a $70 cake that looked so simple a child could do it. They said it would feed 25-30 people and it didn't even come close. Every time we've asked them to resolve the issues, they refuse to help in any way. The cake tastes great, but we are so upset with our service that we need to take our service elsewhere. I can't stress enough that this place is not worth your time, money, and effort.

Beautiful! Perfect, Delicious!! So very happy with the way our cake turned out. Everyone at the party commented on how incredible the logo's turned out. Each created by hand. I could not have hoped for better! Thank you so much for helping to make our Grad party an amazing day. A first time customer on a recommendation. Looking forward to our next order with you.

a slice of cake and a piece of cake

My sister surprised me with a beautiful birthday cake from this place and it was delicious! Since I didn't order it I can't speak to how the decorations matched what was ordered or anything like that. I can tell you it was beautifully decorated and had three fillings on the inside two of which I think were whipped cream and one was frosting., which was great because you don't want to be drowning in frosting. The cake itself was strawberry and it was delicious. Moist and flavorful. I am very picky about baked goods and I just want you to know we ate every single scrap of this birthday cake. Thank you!

Very impressed with the way my son's cake turned out. They gave me exactly what I asked for.

I ordered 2 cakes from the cakery. One for my son's 1st birthday party and one for my wife's surprise birthday. I gave them a napkin with the theme of the party on it and they did an exceptional job matching the look we wanted. Everything that I asked for was done and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My wife's cake was very nice as well. People at the party could not get enough of the flavor. My aunt, who doesn't even like cake had 2 pieces. I will be back for future events and I highly recommend the cakery for any occasion only if you don't mind paying a little extra.

This is the cake the cakery made. The next one is the one I said I wanted.

As I went toward the checkouts, I saw the spices and herbs section. I was thrilled to find celery flakes available, and for a reasonable cost! That ingredient is weirdly hard to find around the region. I went to the self check-outs. One of my cheeses had a smeared barcode that wouldn't scan. I hit the "help" button on the screen, and a checker immediately came over to manually input that item. While I was in the grocery side, my husband checked out the liquor store. He bought a number of beers to take home, including some that were new to him. We were both quite pleased with our shopping experience here and would stop in again on another trip to Hudson.

I would have happily written a five-star review about Festival Foods' rotisserie chickens not long…read moreago. They were excellent -- consistently flavorful, well-prepared, and conveniently packaged in the standard rigid container with a raised base and clear lid. It kept the chicken elevated out of the grease, preserved the texture of the skin, and allowed customers to see what they were buying. That thoughtful packaging has now been replaced with a plastic bag. The result is exactly what you'd expect when you seal a hot, freshly roasted chicken in a bag with nowhere for heat or grease to go. The bird sits in its own rendered fat. The once-crisp skin turns slick and rubbery. Opening the bag means handling a dripping, slippery mess that coats your hands and countertop before dinner even begins. It's a downgrade in every practical sense -- presentation, cleanliness, and quality. After speaking with staff, it's clear this was not a store-level improvement. Employees dislike the change. Customers dislike the change. Which leaves one conclusion: someone, somewhere, decided that shaving a few cents off packaging mattered more than the customer experience. If that's the strategy, it's short-sighted. I no longer buy rotisserie chickens at Festival Foods. What used to be a reliable, convenient dinner option is now something I drive past without a second thought. That's disappointing, especially because Festival's arrival in Hudson genuinely raised the bar for grocery shopping in this community. It's remarkable how quickly goodwill can erode over something as simple -- and avoidable -- as a bag.
