Do yourself a favor and avoid the Cakery. I selected a beautiful wedding cake from their own design book. The cake I received on my wedding day was not decorated as nicely as their design picture. It had half the decorations as pictured and what was there was very amateurish. I contacted them regarding the finished result and was told that they use a professional photographer for their design book. This professional photographer makes the cakes much better looking than they are in real life! Can you believe they said that? If they cannot produce the product as advertised and sold to the customer then it should not be available! It has been over a year and NO ONE from the cakery has responded! Terrible service! I was not expecting a refund only an apology and acknowledgement that they messed up. read more

Stopped in here twice and got myself a variety pack of cupcakes which are 2.00 a piece. They are not very big---The flavor and quality were decent and actually quite tasty---but they are worth more like 1.50 a piece and also the ladies in the shop although pleasant do not go out of their way to be chatty or cheerful and this is what I would expect at such a little specialized boutique shop not to feel like i'm being judged---so will i stop in again -probably because I have a wicked sweet tooth but I will hate myself for doing so... read more

I found The Cakery after doing some searching for bakeries that make decorated cakes with flavors other than white, chocolate, or marble cakes around the Valley and Woodbury. I stopped in on a Tuesday to see the bakery and was given a sample of one flavor. I was told I could get my cake in the flavors of their cupcakes they had in their case for sale. So I had to buy 4 to try and decide with! The flavor options were great, by the way. I was looking for a lime flavor cake, and they made a mojito cupcake with rum flavor butter cream cheese frosting. It was light and not too sweet. We tried almond and strawberry, but they were too sweet for me. Tasty, but too sweet for our occasion. We also tried the lemon cupcake - it was wonderful too, but the lime was so light and wonderful. The cakes came with free filling too - yum! I ordered a sheet cake for the upcoming Saturday, and they took my order and design ideas - Teddy bear picnic for my son's 1st birthday. They gave me a free smash cake too. The bears turned out cute and the smash cake was great too. I'll go here again. read more

Well, they're not all bad...perhaps just inconsistent. I only know this: My sister in law picked up a cake from The Cakery for my wife's birthday. The cake was perfectly and expertly decorated, and was the most delicious cake we'd ever had. My wife is picky about baked goods -- won't eat grocery store cake and refuses to make box mixes. Her own cakes are terrific but we both agreed that this cake was the best...it literally melted in our mouths. Reading the other posts, it would appear that there may be some inconsistency issues with the help? I don't know...I just know that this particular cake was outstanding. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND We started using The Cakery about 2 years ago for family celebrations. The first cake we got was phenomenal. Better than we could have even hoped. They were able to cut out the shape of a leotard and make it sparkle. So we started making them our go-to bakery for every family function. After the first cake, however, they took a turn for the worst. We sent emails with specifics on simple cakes and they came back to us looking nothing like what we wanted with things we specifically told them NOT to do. They refused to stack a tiered cake for a family members anniversary/vow renewal so we had to buy our own supplies and pray we didn't drop a cake or mess up the frosting. On the same cake we asked for an ombré effect and we got 3 cakes with 3 completely different colors that did not fade into each other at all. (They later said they didn't even look at the email we sent) We have gone there at least 7 times since our first experience hoping each time it was just a secluded bad experience and we've finally had to come to the conclusion that this place is NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Our most recent experience was with a $70 cake that looked so simple a child could do it. They said it would feed 25-30 people and it didn't even come close. Every time we've asked them to resolve the issues, they refuse to help in any way. The cake tastes great, but we are so upset with our service that we need to take our service elsewhere. I can't stress enough that this place is not worth your time, money, and effort. read more

I loved my experience with the Cakery. We learned about it when some friends in Hudson threw us a wedding shower and served their white cake with almond flavoring. My husband and I are not really into cake generally, but we loved this one so much we decided to order it for our wedding. We went to the Hudson location to do a tasting and came home with tons of leftovers- it was awesome. The cake we chose (same almond flavoring as the wedding shower) came out exactly as we asked- an elegant white three-tiered cake that could be decorated by the florist. On our wedding day, we did the traditional cake cutting and then went around to say hellos to our guests- we never ended up even getting to eat our own slices! We sent the cake topper home with my aunt and uncle to be shared with my grandpop who was too sick to make it to the wedding, but I am already counting down the days until we can buy a fresh one for our one year anniversary. Finally was able to try the Cakery. I doubt I'd go back. I got a small variety of cupcakes, which were very pretty to look at. However, the favor was really bland, the cake tasted very much like boxed cake and not made from scratch. Cake was not that moist either. For my husband's 50th birthday party we chose The Cakery to make the cakes. We ordered two half sheet cakes, both chocolate, one with ganache filling and the other with chocolate mousse filling. After going in to place the order, I emailed the decorator some images of the invitations and mock-ups of the centerpieces we'd be having at the restaurant where the party was being held. The Cakery did an excellent job creating beautiful cakes with fairly limited direction. The taste was amazing! All of our guests were commenting about how delicious the cakes were. My sister surprised me with a beautiful birthday cake from this place and it was delicious! Since I didn't order it I can't speak to how the decorations matched what was ordered or anything like that. I can tell you it was beautifully decorated and had three fillings on the inside two of which I think were whipped cream and one was frosting., which was great because you don't want to be drowning in frosting. The cake itself was strawberry and it was delicious. Moist and flavorful. I am very picky about baked goods and I just want you to know we ate every single scrap of this birthday cake. I ordered 2 cakes from the cakery. One for my son's 1st birthday party and one for my wife's surprise birthday. I gave them a napkin with the theme of the party on it and they did an exceptional job matching the look we wanted. Everything that I asked for was done and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My wife's cake was very nice as well. People at the party could not get enough of the flavor. Stopped in today to grab some cupcakes for my kids. There seemed to be at least 2 people working. One girl was on the phone and someone was in the back making noise. I waited until the girl at the counter was off the phone to place my order. While asking the girl a question about one of the cupcakes she interrupted me to take a call. We received 6 small cupcakes for almost $14. They had no real flavor. Cupcakes out of a box taste better. read more

Recently, My husband and I were able to find our the gender of our first child. We didn't just want to open an envelope so on the same day we called The Cakery and asked them if they would be able to do a cupcake for us. I wouldn't be able to pick it up until later that evening after their decorator would have gone home, so I asked for two cupcakes a boy and a girl, I would pay for both but that way I could ensure I they would have the right one for when I picked it up. When I got there I handed them the envelope and they handed me our cupcake. When I asked how much they would be the gal said they were already taken care of! How sweet is that! They didn't have to do that for us but they did and it made our gender reveal that much more special! Not to mention the cupcake was DELICIOUS! We will be using The Cakery for any and all of our cake needs in the future! read more

We have purchased many cakes from here in the past. However this is a first for requesting fondant frosting. I brought in a picture of the cake that I wanted and spoke with decorators on 2 separate occasions which they said they would be able to make it as pictured as long as i didnt mind paying extra for the bow and the ruffle and provide my own crown because they are unable to make the crown. I came to pick up my cake and they boxed it up without even letting me look at it. Once i took it out i realized the bow was not even close to the bow in the picture I gave them and the ruffle was not the same either. The quality of the bow was very poor considering they charge 25.00 extra because it's fondant. The ruffle was not as pictured either which they charged 30.00 for. The frosting was faded on parts of the cake. The crown was supposed to have been put on top with the comb part hidden in the cake but was actually hanging off the back. It looked very tacky to say the least. I called them up and they said by taking it out of the shop I accepted it. I explained the young girl never showed me the cake before boxing it up and I was told that it was in the display case so should have looked at ut. I said it wasn't acceptable and then was told their was nothing they could do because they had too many other orders to work with. They took my name and number and said that someone would call me and make it right the following monday. I said that I didn't have any other choice since I needed a cake for the shower. I did receive a phone call Monday morning and I explained why I was disappointed and that I had pictures of the cake I wanted and the one I received. The young girl said she could give me a 25.00 certificate towards another cake. I told her I didn't feel that was enough considering I spent 55.00 extra for the ruffle and bow and didn't get what I asked for. She said she would check with the owner and call me back. I decided to go in and show the pics to them so they could see why I was disappointed. I was told that the owner (who for some reason couldn't contact me herself) thought the cake was beautiful and since they spent the money and time on the fondant 30.00 was the most they could credit me on 125.00 cake. I wanted to post pictures so you can see I'm not being overly critical but have not figured out how to do it. They're cakes themselves are very tasty especially the almond and the mojito (my favorite). I accepted the 30.00 because I figured I wasn't going to get anywhere with the girl going back and forth with the owner and me and figured I would just post my experience for others just in case you're looking at having them do a cake with fondant. I still would recommend them for a simple buttercream frosting but not any with fondant, especially bows. Oh and always make certain they show you the cake before you leave the store! I do agree with the other commemt too. They are pleasant but definitely not overly friendly making you want to come back again and again. I think most of all I'm disappointed the owner didn't care enough about her business to call and hear my concerns personally. I gave it 2 stars because of the decorator and how the owner handled it. Otherwise most of the cakes we've had have been extremely good. read more

So disappointed with The Cakery, many bakeries to choose from with better service. We celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary. The cake was not what was pictured when ordered. We were shorted 20 cupcakes and had to drive back while party was going to get shelf cupcakes because they were not made with our order. They gave us the fancy sleeves but not the cupcakes.
