    Bagel breakfast sandwich

Wow! Great bagels. Bakery treats look delicious. Friendly, helpful customer service and outstanding breakfast sandwich. Soft, tasty bagel, lots of delicious bacon. Will be back for sure.

Yum! I was out running errands and had a coupon, so I decided to try Buddy's for a breakfast sandwich. I ordered the Classic Buddy on an Asiago bagel and it was amazing! Had a light roast coffee which was delicious as well! I'm excited to go back and try some of the lunch sandwiches...especially the turkey, raspberry and Brie.

I've visited three times now. I really want to like Buddy's. Ever since moving from the cities, I've been trying to find a good bagel shop. However, I've consistently had poor experiences here. Somehow, on every trip, I've been both shorted food and charged for items I didn't even order. I think the issue comes from the layout of ordering, where multiple staff are helping and the person ringing up customers isn't the person who took the order. It's just really frustrating. The donuts are decent but pale in comparison to the specialty donuts from places in the cities. The apple fritter was the exception - it was phenomenal! The bagel sandwiches are good. The bagels themselves are hit or miss. Some are good (Asiago!), but some are not good (blueberry with too much food coloring and lack of blueberry taste, jalapeño cheddar which just had cheese melted on top and sliced jalapeños stuck on). I left a google review and contacted the owner (who gave me their email), but I didn't hear back. I think this place has potential, and a little bit of organizational adjustments would go a long way.

New location - in the same mall as Keys Cafe.

Same great bakery, new location - now on Charmichael Road near Keys Cafe. I happened across Buddy's new location while grabbing breakfast at Keys Café. I stopped in to check it out. The new location has a larger footprint with a much larger dining area. It's very nice. Of course, Buddy's still has the same great stuff. But I had the misfortune of stopping in right after a bus load of middle school students stopped in. It looked like a swarm of army ants had just marched through, nearly everything was gone. It was bad luck on my part. Stop in at the new digs and get some fresh goodies. Thumbs up! -Daddy Maxx Retro

Bagel menu specifically stating that a bagel with cream cheese or hummus costs $4.50

Very slow service, had two people behind the donut counter and only one person making bagels. On the menu, the bagels with cream cheese are listed for $4.50, so we decided to each get a bagel and a donut to share. At checkout, we were charged $7 for each bagel. On the checkout screen it said $3.00 for the bagel and then 2 additions of cream cheese for EACH bagel. When I brought it up to the cashier that on the sign each bagel was $4.50, he simply said "no." The bagels are not nearly good enough to justify a $7 each price point and we will definitely not be returning or recommending to others.

I came in today 5/5/26 a Tuesday morning at around 5:30am or so and ordered 2 dozen donut holes…read more The woman behind the counter seemed perturbed and said she didn't have any and that it would be -- emphasis on: -- A WHILE until they were ready. I said, oh no, I drove all the way here for them, I ain't leavin, I'll wait. She hollered back to the cooks and asked how long on the donut holes and they said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes. I said I was fine with waiting and I picked out some donuts from the case. Listen. I get it. You want fresh donuts for everyone. You don't want customers waiting even though you have designated dine-in seating that I have seen made use of on a Sunday morning by the 60+ sect with copies of the day's newspaper available to them for reading. But I was nothing if not fully and totally amenable to the prospect of waiting. I drove out here, I used the gas, and frankly, it was all I wanted for my order. I came specifically for the donut holes and the extra donuts were for my bf. It's not to say he doesn't like them, he very much does but he can't get his mitts in fast enough to get them before I gobble them all down like some sort of baked goods hobbit goblin. My Precious(es). I like that the sugar glaze makes them crunch and you can taste the butter. They're light and airy and they make me happy. Anyways. I would like to note that the last time I put an order in ahead of time, it got lost in the shuffle and when I came to pick it up, it wasn't ready and instead of taking the risk and missing out, I just went to the shop and ordered them right there and I figured by doing so close enough to open, they'd have donut holes available. I didn't know they were essentially made to order but I presume since I arrived a half hour after they opened, they surely must have simply run out. To that end, I don't see how it would really matter all that much who buys them and how much of them are bought considering you're still getting paid, whether it's my money or Burt's, our cash is still the same shade of green and still fits the same way in your register. So time ticks on, I'm waiting, another lady purposefully walks in and walks around the counter with all the authority and lateness I would expect from a managerial type. I couldn't make out all of what was said but I did hear, ".....No. She's waiting on a dozen donut holes..." So then I got concerned bc I thought they were gonna cheap me out and only give me a dozen when I paid for 2 so when I got my donut holes I asked for another dozen. The manager possibly owner type takes my box and puts another dozen in. I ask if that makes 3 dozen and she said, "I actually put more than that in there." All of what I'm recounting to you should ultimately be what one might consider a 5 star review but I can't bring myself to do it. I don't know what is going on with customer service in general but I blame the cost of living crisis. It's pushed a bunch of ppl who have no business interacting with customers into jobs where they have to interact with customers and they are doing a horrible job if it. It's not rocket science. Customer service has the easiest formula on earth: 10 foot rule; you see a customer w/in 10ft of you, you say hello and ask them if you can help them with anything. They give you their order You say: Great choice, but it's gonna be about 10 to 15 minutes, are you okay with waiting for the best donuts in the twin cities? Customer says yes. You: Sounds good. Here's a newspaper if you want something to read. End of interaction until you hand me my order. Very simple. What you don't do is try and talk me out of giving you my money. And when I try to give you MORE of my money, you don't respond like I just told you your cat has cancer. You just give me my f*cking donuts and you smile and we f*ck off until I see you again when I want a lard and carbo bomb in 7 months man. Why is this such a difficult concept? I'm not even asking you to be fake nice to be but don't try and weird me out of buying your sh*t. What's the point then? Alternately, when the elderly ladies are working, placing an order has them diving for donuts like they're dodging a Blitzkrieg. It's very unnecessarily chaotic. I would be okay with changing my review if they maybe take it down a notch but I doubt they will.

My husband and I loved how lightly sweetened both the cream and the dough were. My tween was a little indifferent and would've preferred something non-cream filled with more sugar, but that's a tween for you. It's a smaller space with some seating, but the seating doesn't have windows, so we opted to walk across and enjoy our donuts while wandering the farmers market instead -- honestly a perfect way to eat them. It seems that they are rightly known for their sweet baked goods, hence the name, but they have some savory offerings as well. I had heard good things about their congee so I made a point to try that. It was good! Filling, plenty of meat. I also have had a unique, savory roll that was buttery and great, I forgot what it's called but it's good. And I had a Lychee Rose brioche donut. Decadent! Delicious. Loved it. I got a Vietnamese coffee one time that was great, and a matcha milk with ube foam that was also great. So, yeah, really everything I've had has been great! The opening hours are painfully limited. They are only open from 9am to 1pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And both times I came it was close to noon and they were sold out of LOTS of things. I'm convinced that if you go there because you want something specific, you simply can't trust them to have it available. Instead of planning a specific visit, the wiser approach would be to give them a look if you're in the area during one of the 12 hours they are open in a given week, and see if you're interested in what they aren't sold out of. They have an indoor counter which you get to via the main entrance on 4th street, and guessing your way through the halls until you find them past that gallery. There is also a seating section which has the ambience of a break room at a DMV. But there is also an outdoor window on Saturday & Sunday, with some seats set up in the alley; that description sounds dicey but it's perfectly fine. My hope is that they improve on some of this to make for a more predictably positive experience!
