Love this bakery, buddys is now my go to when in Hudson. Delicious pastries as well, but my go to is definitely a hot and fresh bagel sandwich MMM MMM GOOD. I'm usually pretty basic - bagel sausage egg and cheese but yesterday I tried the amigos bagel breakfast sandwich it was delicious next time I'll probably add sausage instead of bacon for a little more umph. Our first time visiting Buddy's Bakery while in Wisconsin for a short getaway. It's clearly a popular place, and ordering for the first time can be intimidating with a line of seasoned customers behind you. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a donut, nitro brew and Diet Coke. We really enjoyed the ambiance and customer service was outstanding. My husband was unimpressed with his bagel, but said the flavor (Asiago) was not as good as other establishments, but enjoyed the texture. My rosemary and olive oil bagel was delicious!The only complaint would be receiving the wrong donut and the overpriced "small" fountain drink that was priced almost as much as my nitro brew. I've visited three times now. I really want to like Buddy's. Ever since moving from the cities, I've been trying to find a good bagel shop. However, I've consistently had poor experiences here. Somehow, on every trip, I've been both shorted food and charged for items I didn't even order. I think the issue comes from the layout of ordering, where multiple staff are helping and the person ringing up customers isn't the person who took the order. It's just really frustrating. The donuts are decent but pale in comparison to the specialty donuts from places in the cities. The apple fritter was the exception - it was phenomenal! The bagel sandwiches are good. The bagels themselves are hit or miss. Some are good (Asiago!), but some are not good (blueberry with too much food coloring and lack of blueberry taste, jalapeño cheddar which just had cheese melted on top and sliced jalapeños stuck on). I left a google review and contacted the owner (who gave me their email), but I didn't hear back. I think this place has potential, and a little bit of organizational adjustments would go a long way. read more

Same great bakery, new location - now on Charmichael Road near Keys Cafe. I happened across Buddy's new location while grabbing breakfast at Keys Café. I stopped in to check it out. The new location has a larger footprint with a much larger dining area. It's very nice. Of course, Buddy's still has the same great stuff. But I had the misfortune of stopping in right after a bus load of middle school students stopped in. It looked like a swarm of army ants had just marched through, nearly everything was gone. This is my 2nd review here. It pained me last time to give it a 3 star. But the wait just to take my order was brutal every visit. As I continue to come back and service is getting a little better. Zero stars. The worst. I emailed back and forth with the owner to order a donut shaped like a 6 for my son's birthday. I also called to confirm the order one week prior. My husband drove from 30-minutes away to pick up the order and when he got there, there was no donut and no record of the order. The staff were rude and offered no apologies. Literally nothing was done to rectify the mistake and the staff did not seem to care. So we had to make an extra grocery store run for dessert that was not nearly as special as we had ordered. Placed an order for a dozen bagels and when I got home and realized that 6 pumpernickels were 6 plain. The rest of the order was correct. I called and they were out of pumpernickels but they apologized for the mistake and baked 6 pumpernickels for me. My wife picked them up within a half hour. There was no charge and they apologized again for the mixup. It's not always how good a restaurant or bakery is. No place and no one is perfect. How they correct an error says a lot. Very slow service, had two people behind the donut counter and only one person making bagels. On the menu, the bagels with cream cheese are listed for $4.50, so we decided to each get a bagel and a donut to share. At checkout, we were charged $7 for each bagel. On the checkout screen it said $3.00 for the bagel and then 2 additions of cream cheese for EACH bagel. When I brought it up to the cashier that on the sign each bagel was $4.50, he simply said "no." The bagels are not nearly good enough to justify a $7 each price point and we will definitely not be returning or recommending to others. read more

I was really excited to try this place as I've been searching for a good bagel near the twin cities forever. I finally drove over to try it and placed the order online so it would be ready when I got there. The order was not ready when I got there, and they had to "make" one of the cream cheese spreads as they were out. This review is purely on service, which was poor, and one of the employees was not wearing their mask properly. I toasted one of my bagels when I got home and used the cream cheese which I waited for--the cream cheese was good, not worth the wait, but the bagel was a poor example of a bagel. Awesome staff and absolutely delicious treats are packed inside of Buddy's Bakery! We popped in on a whim to check them out and it was their two year anniversary. We ordered half a dozen doughnuts and fresh bagels. The doughnuts were so fresh they were still warm. I wanted to snag a photo but alas, our mouths didn't have the same patience as our eyes and they were quickly devoured. They also gave us each a free slice of cake for their anniversary. Well of course we'd go to a bakery named after one of our dogs! But not just for donuts, rolls, etc. We each got a breakfast bagel. I've never had egg, cheese and bacon on a toasted sesame bagel but I'm hooked. Hub got a jalapeño cheese bagel same and then we split a Boston cream filled donut. The staff was friendly and cheerful for the pre seven a.m. crowd. We got there early and then the place filled up. Immaculate is the word that comes to mind from everything in the dining area to the bathroom. Also ordered coffee, medium roast and I liked it better than my home brew dark roast. The signage is a bit small but if you see the Walgreens, it's south of it in a strip mall. Saw a bunch of cakes to go in the refrigerated case so if you like donuts/breakfast/lunch and a cake fix, you've got a Buddy! read more

We stopped based on a high Yelp star count and were pleased with the muffins. Although we would not recommend the cherry-cream ones (they were dry and the combination with the corn-base did not eventuate the taste), the blueberry (Where the corn base heighten the flavor) and the chocolate cream (a large black bottom cupcake) were absolutely delicious. I'm really disappointed with the experience at Buddy's Bakery. We wanted to pick up breakfast on our way home from Minneapolis and I chose this for our family because it's local and I want to support small businesses. Our kids were excited about the donuts, they looked really good, but we had a negative experience because they didn't have an efficient system to manage the rest of the items on their menu (bagels, sandwiches, coffee drinks, etc). It might be a staffing issue, but their operations and kitchen layout made for a really ineffective management of orders & service. People were waiting 15-20 minutes to pay for their food because they didn't have anyone dedicated to the register and the same person was supposed to be able to make drinks: we ordered 2 lattes and the person making them had no clue what she was doing, after 10 minutes trying to make them, she handed them to me to ask if the the drinks looked right and said that she didn't know how to make them hot, while she was making them, the "leader" went to smell the milk to see if it was expired and did a taste test. I asked for them to re-make the drinks and not use expired milk and have someone else make them since the girl was confused. They definitely needed someone dedicated to the register and also someone capable of making drinks. I've served in restaurants for over 10 years and what I saw was a lack of understanding from the staff and no leadership to help the team manage the customers. It's a bummer because the customer line kept growing, but they weren't equipped to support the needs. Our kids had to wait over 40 minutes for us to be able to get back on the road, overall it was very frustrating. Every buddy needs better training and motivation. read more

I am a Hudson local and have consistently had negative experiences at Buddys. Really really disappointed In how poor the service and even the food is most times. The only time I've experienced good service is when I believe the owner is there. Update to review from spring 2019: I went to Buddy's again to restock the bagels (see review below.) I arrived just after closing and Buddy opened up for me. So nice! At this visit I found out that the bagels I bought and ate before were NOT GLUTEN FREE. I had some prolonged symptoms from them without realizing they were the culprit until this second visit. It has been several weeks now and I have healed up but have some lingering issues. I CAN NIT STRESS ENOUGH THAT FOOD SERVICES NEED TO KEEP GLUTEN FREE FOODS SEPARATE. THEY MUST ALSO ENSURE THAT EMPLOYEES ARE TRAINED AND KNOWLEDGABLE. THEY ABSOLUTELY MUST BE HONEST ABOUT GLUTEN FREE ITEMS AND NON-gluten free items. I am disappointed that happened and will now double-down on my interrogations of people preparing or selling food. PREVIOUS REVIEW I was finally in Hudson and able to stop at Buddy's for his gluten free bakery items. Wonderful little shop, easy access off and on I-94. I didn't choose the donuts or cupcakes or cookies this trip, but I did get cinnamon bread and bagels. Had a bagel with dinner and it was wonderfully chewy, tasty, and toasted well. Love it! Small little shop but really fantastic. There are a ton of options for both breakfast and lunch sandwiches, plus a bakery box full of things that will inevitably break my will power to not eat sweets. The prices are really solid too; I was more than happy with what I paid for a BEC on a bagel with coffee. Buddy himself served me and was super nice. Buddy's Bakery is an absolute must in Hudson! We live about 15 minutes away and drive all the way here for the food on the weekends. It is also just a quick jump off the highway weekdays on the way into the city for work. Their bagels are the absolute best we ever have had. Both sweet and savory types are amazing. New addition of baked goods add new items to pick up. We are addicted to their apple fritters. New try for us this week was the cheddar jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It was awesome. They don't skimp on cream cheese or seasonings that make it so much better than your typical franchise place. One of the best bagel places! The also have donuts croissants macaroons and little cakes! The have the best cinnamon and sugar bagels with butter, and strawberry cream cheese! They also have good poppyseed bagels with bacon and eggs. I also love there doughnuts macaroons, and little cakes. it can be busy or not, depending on the day, the have good services and music and you can sit outside. Love it here! Was the drive thru not open Friday oct 15 at 6:45 ? There was no sign saying otherwise. It was lite up . I saw people inside . I waited for 15 min and left because bringing 2 dozen donuts to my work wasn't goin to happen !!!! Short staff ok maybe ??? Please indicate on the drive thru that only walk up is available if that is the case . The hours say 6 am so just curious as to why this is a thing ? I called several times to talk to someone real the days before the 15 no one ever answers the phone .
