Dr. Rodan came highly recommended by physicians all around the Bay Area. The day I was referred and the night before my appointment, I saw her infomercial for Proactiv for the first time (this was in 1995). Her product created with Dr. Kathy Fields was fairly new on the market and was already very successful. I went in to see her not knowing what I was going to get. Was Judith Light going to welcome me at the door? Dr. Rodan instantly earned my respect when, as a patient in her office, she didn't try to sell me Proactiv. In fact, she said for me NOT to use it. I knew at this moment she was there for my interests and not hers. I often hear "you don't look 40". Now, I'm not sure if people are just being nice, but they are not required to give compliments. So, I'm going to believe what they say. If I am going to believe what others say, then I have to tell you that I do spend time, energy, and money to fight father time! Much like Sherman's march through Georgia, father time (punk ass bitch!) will take no prisoners as he marches all over your beautiful mug. If you are not careful, your face will show the carnage and devastation caused by unnecessary damage. Dr. Rodan is my secret weapon. I have been using her products for years and have most recently paid a visit to her in person. Together, we decided the best approach to put the brakes on the aging process. I told her that I wanted to look like "the best me" I could possibly be. Not pinched as tight as Joan Rivers at a red carpet event. Yuck. My goals are Dr. Rodan's goals. I'm on a regime that I can live with and have scheduled additional appointments for further skin evaluation and procedures. She is awesome and really listens. I have been with Kaiser as long as I can remember. The last 6 months I have not been with them, giving me the freedom to see a dermatologist of my choice. Unlike kaiser doctors I have see , Dr. Rodan listened to what I had to say and what I wanted. I walked out with a few prescriptions and a box of Proactive+ as a freebie for me to try. I really appreciated that she didn't just push me to try proactive or any other over the counter medication and than come back if it didn't work, like Kaiser. B/c of past experiences like that, my acne left me with scars. I'm really excited to try the regime she has prescribed and look forward to seeing what results are like. After being a long time patient, I was rudely informed WHILE MAKING MY NEXT APPOINTMENT at the office that Dr. Rodan no longer sees regular patients for "check-ups", only for "procedures". Dr. Rodan does know her cosmetic dermatology, but you do have to get-in and get-out of there quickly. Unlike other patients, it was suggeted I use her products: the Proactive line, the "Radiance" line (also sold at Neiman's)....... I did not mind her limited office hours (she only works two days a week, sometimes less), and if you are trying to be a new patient, forget it.....I worked around her tight schedule just to have her maintain my skin every 4 to 6 months. Her office staff leaves a lot to be desired, though, never following up or returning phone calls, even when they cancelled appointments on YOU. Only a "Society Doc" could get away with treating patients this way. read more

She is a perfectionist (which you really want when someone is redefining your face) and she is straightforward about cost, effects and realistic outcomes. AND she listens to you. She has never upsold me- in fact she has often told me that I don't need whatever it is that I thought I needed in order to stay looking natural. I have gotten exactly what I sought and over the past 10 years I can tell you that I always look my best and that makes me feel my best. I have now benefitted from many different treatments. Dr. Rodan is awesome if the reason you're looking for a dermatologist is for cosmetic reasons. No one better. She completely understands all the cosmetics issues -- removing sun spots, acne, etc. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my face. If what you're dealing with, however, is a skin disease, i.e., psoriasis, etc., I'd probably go somewhere else. We never made progress on my psoriasis. I finally decided to go to another dermatologist for that reason. Within one week, it was 50% improved. A month later - 70% -- and two months later -- it improved even more. I'm now just keeping it off. My guess -- skin diseases don't interest Dr. Rodan. But cosmetic issues do -- and for that, I'd never consider anyone else. read more

She was straight forward with me, about the procedure I wanted done. She actually talked me out of it and encouraged alternative non invasive solutions. I have a regular dermatologist that I go to for regular medical derma issues but Dr Rodan was able to see me quicker and was not at all concerned about up selilng me. read more

Please don't go here for Laser hair removal. Dr. Rodan is terrible at Laser hair removal and burned my face. I should have walked out when she kept going on about the possibility of burning and blistering. I paid $500 to get burned. (literally!) I didn't even get any of her products- just wanted to get out of there. I didn't like her mannerisms either- too rushed and not personable. Katie is the best cosmetic dermatologist in the Bay Area. I have not used her for any dermatological problems as I have a great clinician for those issues (she is not into cosmetic). The only downside is Dr. Rodan's office hours are somewhat limited, though the staff tries hard to get you in. My skin has never looked better! As a fitness professional, I spend lots of time with little to no makeup around people five to ten years younger than me and guess what? I blend. No one believes that I'm 41, thanks to Dr, Rodan. When I came to her my skin was ruddy, sun damaged and covered with brown patches from two pregnancies. Today my skin is smooth, clear and looks better than it did ten years ago. This has greatly improved my confidence and self esteem. This "celebrity" "doctor" should be avoided at all costs. On three occasions over a 6 month period Rodan randomly cancelled her appointments for a day, or even a week!, leaving me to work my schedule around her vacations. I have been made to wait over 1 hour past my appointment time to see her on two different occasions- and on one of these instances I could hear here loudly chatting and laughing away with a patient in the next room who was receiving a number of botox injections. Once she finally got around to seeing me she strolls in with her plastic cheeks and has the gall to ask me 'how I am' with an awful grin smeared across her rubbery face. She way over books her schedule everyday and pushes the obviously lower paying patients through their actual appointment in under 5 minutes so she can spend more time stroking the egos of her rich clientele. Today after over 5 months of appointments she didnt even know who I was!!!!!!! All this so-called doctor is concerned with is taking your $$$$ and increasing her social status. Her staff are very kind and extremely hardworking, and they clearly bust their butts all day to make up for how highly unprofessional she is. read more

I am here to report that your customer service for proactiv is the worst customer service i have ever dealt with. I am owed $59.90 after countless frustrating phone calls to people who represent you and lied to repeatedly and in the end my account was charged over and over when I was told it wouldn't be and when I was told that I would get a refund only $29.95 of $89.85 (as verified to me as the amount owed me by your "managers") was returned to me. Every single person was rude, condescending and have no idea how to deal with customers. I will never order from you again and will post on my facebook account how awful the experience was and it will get around and you will lose business and money. read more

katie rodan is a beautiful and smart physician who injects her 85 year old mom, a biologist, with juvederm to keep her looking good. despite how hard it is to get an appointment with her - she only works one day a week on pill hill - i would always try to go to her with a skin problem because she really looks at your face and carefully does whatever she can to deal with your blemishes, wrinkles, scars, brown spots, whatever, with nice results. read more

Eek! Methinks not. After dealing with R&F for a few years now I've reached my "fed up" with them point. I've requested they cancel my prime membership. They refuse to take back any of the product that I have ordered. Strange, don't they guarantee their products for a lifetime? This should tell you something. Guess I'll throw them out. I won't use them on my skin any longer. Their products are too overpriced and the quality is, well not quality. I didn't notice any change in my skin as I have with other skin care products that I've used. I have now returned gladly to my other favorite skin care products. And finally, the packing is PLASTIC, not even glass, and unattractive. I don't know if you all prefer a bit more of an upscale look to a product if you are paying handsomely for it but I do. Again, a sign of low quality. I urge you to not use these crappy, overpriced and under designed products. And, don't fall for their auto re-order system. It's a joke.
