I'm so happy that I chose Dr. Ransom do my rhinoplasty. He designed a surgical plan that helped to meet my goals, while also keeping in mind what would suit my facial features. He was realistic and upfront about what limitations existed due to my facial anatomy, and what would be safe and flattering in the long term. I appreciate how personalized my consult felt, and that my surgical plan fit me rather than whatever nose is "trendy". Despite the significant changes made to my nose during my rhinoplasty, I didn't even bruise! I'm healing well, and I couldn't have asked for better results! Although I had my procedure done early 2025, I had to write this review because my experience at Dr. Ransom's office has been haunting me. I needed a blepharoplasty for my heavy eyelids and found Dr. Ransom on Yelp listed as an excellent, kind, friendly doctor. The consultation was great, Dr. Ransom listened to exactly what I wanted, assured me that not too much would be removed and was very kind. I felt like I was going to be in good hands. A woman at the office took me into another room, showed me some before and after pictures, (though I'm not sure she made note of which ones I liked), and I asked how long is the recovery time, she said "Oh just a week, you can have your procedure Monday and stitches removed Friday." Great, I took a week off. Monday, the day of procedure, before the procedure, we were in a room and Dr. Ransom was getting things together in a rush. I was surprised he didn't confirm what we talked about or go over what he about to do. So I said, "just a little off eyelids and subtle right?" He just said "right" as he was assembling things. I asked "can you please go over the procedure?" and he did. At the beginning of the procedure, his Assistant placed a slightly adhesive pad on the side of my belly, (to monitor my vitals during the procedure). He injected anesthetic around my right eye, then my left eye, (though I noted that he didn't inject/spend as much time injecting my left eye). The procedure was going well, I felt no pain as he starting on my right eye, (though it was unsettling that Dr. Ransom and his Assistant were having casual conversation while working on my eyes-I know he must have done this procedure hundreds of times before, but still - this is my face). Towards the end, Dr. Ransom spent a good amount of time with the stitches on my right eye, but when he started on my left eye, I really felt pain, said it really hurts and "Ow." I realized he must have run out of anesthetic in his syringe when he got to my left eye and just didn't bother to get another syringe. Instead of stopping to give me more anesthetic, he just kept saying, "we're almost done, we're almost done." After reeling from that, his Assistant proceeded to slowly tear off the adhesive pad on my belly, (which is slightly hairy), and I yelped "Ouch!" I was too caught off guard to tell him to just rip the pad off like a bandaid and the Assistant kept saying "sorry, sorry" as he continued to slowly tear off the pad. After I continued to say "ouch, ouch!", Dr. Ransom said, "Oh your little hairs." So in addition to being in pain, I'm now belittled. Feeling terrible from this, I got dressed, shuffled to the Receptionist and scheduled stitches to removed that Friday. Close to Friday, the Receptionist called me to say my appointment was moved to Monday. I said but I took this week off and have to go back to work Monday. She said the doctor said I would get better results if I waited a couple more days to have the stitches removed. It seemed like a lie because why did they have schedule the appt for Friday originally? Silence from her, implying there is nothing I can do about it. Following the appointment, to minimize scars, I was to have 3 small laser zaps at the ends of each eye, administered by the Assistant. I have deep horizontal creases at the ends of my eyes, (had them for a long time), and I asked the Assistant if there was a procedure to address those. He said maybe some filler can help with the "canyons." I had to laugh at the exaggeration and cruelty of the term. I looked at him when he said it and I honestly believe he wasn't trying to be mean, that really was the word that came to his mind. Although ultimately results of the blepharoplasty were perfect, due to the experiences above, I just can not bring myself to go back to that office. I do believe Dr. Ransom is kind, it just may be another situation of having too many clients lined up back-to-back. read more

The undisputed best!!! This is the only office in the Bay Area I've found where the doctor himself performs both filler and Botox. After hearing (and seeing) so many horror stories of tox and filler gone wrong, I will never take my chances anywhere else. Dr. Ransom is not only a brilliant surgeon and educator -- he truly understands facial anatomy on another level. His bedside manner is unmatched: kind, personable, attentive, patient, and incredibly thoughtful. He explains everything with such clarity and honesty; it's a breath of fresh air to meet a doctor like him. And I certainly have to shout out Regina -- she's the heartbeat of the whole office. So warm, efficient, responsive, and genuinely beautiful inside and out. Appointments can be tough to get, but it's 100% worth the wait (and the drive!). I recently had a Deep Plane Facelift/Necklift with Dr. Ransom and had an excellent experience and result throughout. Dr Ransom is truly an elite facial surgeon whose skills and training are of the finest caliber, as evidenced by my much restored facial and neck structure while keeping a natural result. My procedure was comprehensive and also included a fat transfer to restore volume to the eye and hollowed areas, a temporal brow lift, submandibular gland reduction and CO2 laser. My cheeks are lifted, my jawline svelt, and my eyes/brows more open and youthful. I'm very pleased with my outcome...all very natural and I still look like me. While he keeps a modest social media profile, Dr. Ransom's work I feel holds well next to any of the more famous 'Instagram doctors' out there. My recovery was smooth, with no complications and his team of medical assistants, including Patricia, Yesenia and Suzanne were very supportive and helpful throughout. Some bruising and swelling as expected, but about 3 weeks to start looking good. His chosen board-certified anesthesiologist for my procedure, Dr. Spina, was also excellent and spent time beforehand to interview me and make sure my surgery was safe. For facelifts, Dr Ransom only schedules one facelift per day, so he can dedicate the required time to thoroughly release ligaments, find the correct vertical vector, and be careful around nerve components. I also completed their recommended daily hyperbaric chamber recovery for four days immediately after to help with healing and only needed Tylenol, no pain meds. I am now more than six weeks out and my incisions are nearly undetectable, though his office will provide me complimentary follow-up laser touch-ups to prevent scar lines. Getting plastic surgery and choosing a surgeon is a daunting process, and I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone looking for any facial plastic surgery needs. I got hairline reduction surgery done with Dr. Ransom and it was such an amazing, life changing experience. I was always super self conscious of my forehead size. LIFE CHANGING !!! Wow. There's so much I want to say about Dr. Ransom and his team. They are simply amazing + exceeded all of my expectations. I am now officially ONE YEAR OUT (woot woot) from my procedure and I am overjoyed with the results. Furthermore, the care and service provided over the past year (and to date). If you're combing reviews to research the best plastic surgeon for your needs (as I was over a year ago) AND you are getting the sense in your gut that Dr. Ransom and his team are the ones for you *Nike swoosh* JUST DO IT - at the very least, reach out for a consult. Okay here's a punch list of things I was looking for and rundown of my experience: ABOUT ME Male. Asian. Mid-30s. I knew I wanted to address my chin (or lack thereof) since I was in elementary school. It was time. CONSULT A breeze. They got me scheduled in quickly. Fair warning, they do book up quickly though (sometimes a few months out), so I recommend reaching out sooner than later. Dr. Ransom is straightforward, super knowledgeable and kind. Honestly, the best kind of doctor. I never felt rushed, but always felt that the time we spent together was intentional and purposeful. He knew what I wanted and shared examples of previous work he has done (lots of patients you don't see on the website). I felt super assured. Ended the consult with a game plan in place + transparent and accurate cost quote. I confirmed and booked my procedure that same day - as in, HELL YES let's get this scheduled, I still needed to wait 3 months before I could get the ACTUAL surgery lol (duh). I was going to get a chin implant only (no lipo). COST Honestly, super reasonable and people are always surprised when I have them guess. So don't be scared of cost. But since this is SO SUBJECTIVE, I'm going to encourage you to get a quote from them before you rule out thinking you can't afford it. PRE-OP Omg they were so sweet. Detailed layout of what I needed to do + the medications leading up. Intro to my nurse and essentially guide through this process PATRICIA - one of my favorite humans ever. She is *chefs kiss* a SMILE and DELIGHT to be around - you will feel so taken care of. Trust. She's your righthand person through the procedure and aftercare and beyond. Also, a very thorough call with my anesthesiologist the day before my procedure. Everyone was on the ball. PROCEDURE Dude. I was in and out with a couple hours. The actual procedure was about an hour. I got there super early and did a little consult, got my happy pills, reclined in the chair and the next thing I know they're waking me up telling me how well it went. DIRECTLY AFTER (2 WEEKS POST-OP) Okay. People barely talk about this. But buckle up bc this is kind of a mind f*ck. Think about it. You're in recovery and basically a recluse for a few weeks. It's very lonely and isolating. That's the only thing I will say you need to prepare for. Also, I lost my appetite - so protein shakes were good to have handy. I saw Dr. Ransom one week post-op to remove my bandages. It was all super smooth and clean from a clinical standpoint. I think the biggest thing I want to stress here is the mental prep and realistic planning you'll have to do to take care of yourself (this is on you boo). Also, they surprised me with a little (I'm keeping it a secret) to cheer me up after my procedure, which was so sweet! POST-OP / FOLLOW-UP So organized and orderly. You have basic checkpoints (one week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc). And of course, they'll prioritize seeing you if anything comes up in-between. The key to this time is to make sure you are keeping up with aftercare (honestly just keeping clean and doing as told, like specific massages on your incision line to reduce scar tissue). My incision line scar is barely noticeable. You would only know it's there if I told you I had the procedure done and showed you where. THEIR TEAM I love these people. So so much. They are professional, patient, kind, thoughtful, informative, smart, and make sure you always feel TAKEN CARE OF - Dr. Ransom, Holly, Patricia, Regina, Brittany, Dr. Kwan (anesthesia)... you guys ROCK!!! I've been coming to Dr. Ransom for almost 10 years now! I started coming here in my mid 30s for under eye fillers because I had dark circles and eye bags (see my prior review). Over the past few years, I've also started to get fillers in my nasal labial folds and Botox all over my forehead, crows feet, and smile lines. I no longer live in SF but travel here quarterly just to see Dr Ransom. He's worth the traffic and the commute! I "cheated" and went to a nurse injector in Palo Alto for a year or so but decided to come back to Dr. Ransom because I trust board certified plastic surgeons / MDs far more, yes, even when it's non-surgical work. I feel like they understand the anatomy far more. I've heard horror stories of people getting droopy eyelids after getting Botox and decided I'm only going to trust the tried and true Dr Ransom for this. Dr. Ransom is very fast and efficient. Botox all over my forehead and smile lines only take about 10 minutes and he's normally very on-time. I'm very happy with my results and have never had any negative outcome. My brother is a doctor. An M.D. I proudly brag that, at a fairly young age, and until his retirement, he was Chief of Staff at The Veterans's hospital in Sacramento. To show you how good he was - my brother was a doctor's doctor. Many of his patients were doctors. My brother never entered the medical field because he wanted to make a lot of money. Becoming a doctor, to him, was a sacred calling. When I became 'A certain age' and decided on cosmetic surgery, my brother, grew mildly irritated by my mention of plastic surgeons and said something to this extent "These plastic surgeons really tick me off." "Why?" I asked him. I paraphrase his response, "The united States needs doctors. Because it is phnomanely expensive to educate a doctor. It is so costly that no individual, alone, can afford to pay for his/her own tuition. They need to be government subsidized - which means that the taxpayer picks up their tab. And then, these 'doctors', misuse the privilege of having the taxpayer pay for their medical schooling, by greedily overcharging the public for cosmetic enhancement services." When i have criticized plastic surgeons for this practice, they tell me they do a lot of 'charitable work' for none or low income people. I shoot back - what about the average taxpayer who footed the bill for the cost of your medical training? - when do they get a little financial help from you in the form of a price break for cosmetic surgery? Ever think about giving back to those who have financially given to you? When I called Dr Ransome's office, to set up a consultation, I was told there would be a long wait and also a $200 charge. I agreed to these terms. BUT. i felt I was being preyed upon. The cost of surgery was really high! (What we women won't do for beauty) 3 days passed. I recceived a call from Ransome's office. They were going to do me the supreme favor of 'uping' my appointment. Dr. Ransome could see me earlier. When the call came, i was on the phone with a family member discussing a medical emercency. I could not stop my phone conversation and take Dr. Ransome's call. This resulted in my cosmetic consultation appointment being canceled. I was being punished. I never heard back from Ransome's office. And I suddenly didn't care. His fee was enormous! I would need to borrow money and spend the rest of my life paying it back. I know medical insurance etc is costly BUT ...to charge patients the cost of a house that isnt in California??? Can Artificial Intelligence train me to become a plastic surgeon doctor who operates on greedy cosmetic surgeons and cuts out all the ugly greed in them? read more

Dr Ransom is phenomenal. He has all the qualities you want in a plastic surgeon - he listens carefully, he's conservative in his approach, and he has an artistic eye. His results speak for themselves. I've had a couple of procedures done by Dr Ransom. I've come away looking better and with such a natural no one would know - exactly what I wanted! I came back a year later wishing to make a small revision, and he did so without charge. I had expected to pay because the revision was very subjective, but he wouldn't hear of it. I will start by saying the coordinators I spoke to on the phone are nice and this is probably not their fault as pricing is dictated by those administrating services. However, this business has very questionable business practices as I was quoted $850 for a procedure in March 2021 and when I called back to actually schedule the consultation was told it was $3,500 in June 2021. If you are considering Evan Ransom and don't mind that sort of questionable pricing hike then feel free but that feels very strange to me. I've had the privilege of Dr. Ransom's talent on numerous procedures: a lip lift, brow lift, rasping rhinoplasty, Kybella, Profound RF, fillers, and Botox. I keep coming back because his skill truly stands out among the rest. The first thing I noticed about his work is that he has an incredible eye for symmetry. I've included photos of my lip lift, which improved a longstanding asymmetry in my lower face. I was amazed that he was able to correct this type of shape. He's cognitively flexible and considers the options based on their merits. It's great to geek out with him if you want an in-depth, anatomical explanation of his approach. If you're the kind of person who likes to know what's happening from a technical standpoint -- which, in the Bay Area, a lot of us are -- Dr. Ransom is happy to indulge that. Tasteful aesthetic judgment is another of his gifts. If you want to guarantee that no one will ever know you've had plastic surgery, Dr. Ransom is your surgeon. He knows how to do "just enough" to create greater facial harmony, without creating any unnatural contours. Each surgery and treatment has been a wonderfully pleasant experience, as well. I went in for a mid-facelift in March or April 2022 at the age of 48. Now, just two years later, my face (particularly jowls) look that same as before. To be honest I didn't feel I got the desired result from the beginning, not just two years post-op. I'm neurotic about skincare and sunscreen and always have been, so I know I've taken great care of my skin. I also have another SF doctor for filler and botox, so if anything the filler from the Dr has helped my jowls - but they're still very much there. Dr Ransom and his team are very nice and professional, that's not the problem. The problem is that I don't think the procedure really helped very much at all. And considering the cost, trauma of surgery, and recovery process involved...it sadly and very disappointingly wasn't worth it. Sorry. read more

Since my last review, I have had a lower facelift (mini) and subsequently an under eye lift surgery. Wow! My results are so natural, and it's 100% Dr Ransom's expertise! I was able to heal and be out in public in a matter of days. I thought that I would have scars under my eyes, but Dr Ransom places the incision INSIDE the eye! And I couldn't feel anything! "Nobody's perfect" - direct quote from Dr. Ransom when I pointed out my $14,000 rhinoplasty left me with a crooked nose. And the big scar my $6000 neck lift left me with that I was told would grow hair back? Yeah, no hair grew back. So I went in for a steroid shot to help it along. That stuff must be pricey because I got one tiny shot in the middle of the scar and that was it. A few months later and one hair grew there. Went back for another shot, same thing. One tiny shot in one spot, though this time two hairs grew. I had to pay another Dr. $3000 to fix it with a facial hair transplant. Yay. The one and only time you will have more than 5m to talk with Dr. Ransom is during your consult when he's trying to sell you. No fancy 3D face mapping here to see what the outcome will be. He seems to rely on a couple photos and the smudge tool in Photoshop to make a blurry approximation of your surgery results, which he did in 2m in another room. After that, expect to deal only with his staff outside of the 30 seconds he squeezes in while rushing around when you come in for follow-ups. Expect questions and concerns to be brushed off. He has a nice office and his own line of generic skin care products to sell you, but results and service for the surgeries do not meet expectations, especially given the cost. PLENTY of other options in SF. There is a reason he can get you in so quick for surgery. Avoid. read more
