This doctor did a Mohs surgery and repair on my face 5 years ago. I still have a lump down the side of my face; it creates a separate plane. There's a dimple in the middle of the scar at the top. She didn't know what was going on. Had me buy an expensive cream; charged me for two antibiotic injections into the lump; and pay for an IPL treatment, none of which helped at all. On top of that her bedside manner left lots to be desired. If for some reason you have to have her do a Mohs on your face, demand that a plastic surgeon close the wound. (Many insurance companies are open to that.) read more

I find it interesting how different the experiences are that people had in Dr. Tajirian's office. I can only say good things. Yes, I waited half a year for an appointment for a general mole check. The appointment itself was breezy though. The staff was super nice, the office is modern and comfortable. I hardly had to wait (a big plus in my book!) and I thought the Dr. was super fun and she made the whole procedure a lot easier than I had expected. Yes, she's short and to the point with her staff. They don't seem to mind. I call that professional. It was quite pleasant to chat with her, she is an interesting woman and in my opinion a good and thorough doctor. After my first appointment, I made a second one to have two "Xanthelasma" spots under both of my eyes removed. I only had to wait a few days for this appointment, but I suspect it's because I had to pay out of pocket for this, since it is considered a cosmetic procedure. Again, it was a very painless and pleasant experience (at least as pleasant as getting lidocaine injections and electrocauterization under your eyes, haha). Costs were OK and I felt very well taken care of. The first two days, I looked like a panda, but after four days the swelling was gone. I'm a fan of Dr. Ani! read more

I was sent to her because she's dermatologist. My GP called her to please set up an appt soon due to the pain that I was having (an issue in my private area due to issue with cancer care). I got a call at 2:00 one day to be there the next day at 10:am. When I got there, I paid a $90 co pay, and then I was pushed here and there, then I got maybe 2 minutes with her. Totally felt like a 'fit in' appt, which is not what I needed. When I tried showing her where and what the issue was, she didn't look at me, didn't touch me, and then handed me a page from a rip off pad telling me to buy this brand soap. I then received a balance due bill (again, in network) for over an additional $200! I DO NOT recommend her for any care. Her 'bedside manner' is nil. When I went for a f/u appt with her she stood in the room with her arms crossed like I was wasting her time. Since I started writing this I received a call from their office manager and she's going to see what she can do for the billing, but I'm keeping this up for the care given. Dr. Tajirian is a talented doctor, but has a terrible bed side manor. I had an extremely uncomfortable experience when I came in for a minor surgery. I asked if they had gotten pre approval from my insurance. She didn't feel it necessary. When I hesitated she barked at me for wasting her time and canceled the appointment. I am really torn about this review. On the one hand, Dr. Tajirian did a terrific job on a Moh's surgery on my nose. She was careful and professional, and you can't even see where the mole or the incision were. This is why I'm giving her three stars instead of one. On the other hand, she has an inflated ego and does not like to be questioned. She has now misdiagnosed me twice--and I understand that no one is perfect--but she did it in a rude and imperious manner. With one glance, she brushed me off, not even bothering to listen for two seconds, or to take a closer look at my legs, and absolutely refusing to do a biopsy. She decided I had an age-related disorder instead of the very specific rash I actually had. I finally went to someone else who did a biopsy and determined that Dr. Tajirian's diagnosis was incorrect. I have to say, she did apologize, but she had been so unpleasant to me--and so very ageist!--that the apology didn't really fix things. Doctors, no matter how talented, need a shred of humility or they are no good to anyone. In her area of expertise--Moh's surgery--Dr. Tajirian is amazing. But when she gets outside her sphere of knowledge and still decides she knows everything--that is not just unhelpful, but dangerous. read more

She prescribed me something (which eventually helped my acne) but totally dismissed what I originally scheduled an appointment for 3 months in advance. I have had two MOHs surgeries (on my face) performed by Dr Tajirian in the past few months and I could not be more pleased by the outcome. She is a consummate professional in every way. Her office and support staff are wonderful, as well. My appointment began on time, she explained everything in detail, and could not have made me feel more comfortable. She is highly skilled and loves what she's doing. I have very little to no scarring thanks to her follow-up care and support. Even the greek music she played during the surgery was a delight and added to the enjoyment of the experience. Yes, I said enjoyment. What in most cases would be an unpleasant and mildly traumatic experience, is transformed by Dr. Tajirian and her assistants into a mostly painless and pleasurable encounter. You can't help but feel you are in the best of hands with her as your doctor. I have suffered a lot of sun damage in my past and did not adequately protect my skin, so I assume that I will be seeing more of Dr Tajirian in the future. I am delighted and grateful to have such a skilled physician whose practice is nearby. In the last several years I have seen many doctors because of my mom and dad's health issues, and on very few occasions can I recommend them. That is not the case with Dr. Tajirian. She has been treating my father for several years for cancerous and pre-cancerous skin issues. I have been very impressed with her spot on diagnosis, her treatment and her incredible Mohs surgery work. Her expertise, knowledge and continuing pursuit of the latest developments in her field, make her an outstanding choice. Seeing the work she did for my dad, I, too, began to go for yearly check ups and I'm glad I did! She has worked on me twice for a small Mohs on my ear and a benign cyst on my headI The surgery on both was so well done that you would never be able to tell I had either! I didn't even have time to finish the new patient paperwork. She was totally professional but quirky and fun which won me over. She addressed all my concerns and treated me on the spot giving me hope that my skin issues will resolve and can be managed. read more

My girlfriend and I rescheduled our appointments to see Dr. Tajirian twice and ended up cancelling both times because of Covid, so we have never been to this office. We work from home and only have one car, so we like to schedule our appointments together. Lou was very patient and willing to schedule both of us in during the same call each time, and even called to confirm that we had cancelled our appointments. I feel like that kind of patience is rare, but it's totally necessary to run a medical office effectively. At a different office, I recently switched doctors after a decade, even though I loved my doctor, because his front desk staff was difficult to get ahold of. When Covid is over, my girlfriend and I will definitely come here. We already love Lou. read more

No way for me to schedule an appointment on next Tuesday when I will be super busy at work and impossible to take a half day off. Dr. Ani is the best dermatologist on this planet. I met her first time last year for my acne problem. She listened to my concerns and understood that not only was in emotional pain but also physically hurting. She was very sweet to me and didn't rush the appointment. Let me tell you that my acne problem has been bothering me for ten years and I have gone to scores of dermatologists over the years. No one has been able to help me with it, or maybe didn't want to, so that I keep coming back for more meds and they can keep earning money. Dr. Ani however, not only diagnosed the problem on the first visit but magically treated it too. The one medication she prescribed for me, has worked wonders with my skin. My problem is gone!!!!! I owe her a big one! I only had one more follow up with her and that's it. I highly recommend going to her for your skin issues. I am also pretty sure the other doctors at their center are equally nice and knowledgeable. Another nice recommendation about this place, is their in house aesthetician, Monica. She is so talented and knowledgeable! She is kind and observant. She carefully analyzed my skin condition every time I visited and then followed the best course of treatment. She wouldn't just slop your face with whatever is the most expensive. Hats off to the lady! This whole firm is very professional and honest in running their business. From reading other reviews, it appears this woman is as moody as they come. I did not get the kind, quirky Dr. Tajirian. The person I got was rude, condescending and superior. I had a small mole between my breasts (diagnosed by another doctor) that turned out to be cancerous. Upon seeing the mole, she laughed and said to her assistant, "This must be California Mohs, it's so small I can barely see it." I was astonished that she had just tried to shame me for a cancer procedure! It made her assistant very uncomfortable, too. She didn't stop there, she also said "she'd be so embarrassed if her teachers could see her doing Mohs on this." I'm not making this up, these statements actually came out of her mouth. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't leave because English is obviously not her first language and I thought that maybe she didn't know how offensive she just was. But, as it turned out, she ain't all that, either. She put me back together with super glue and I now have a scar bigger than the original mole she ridiculed. Good luck with Jekyll and Hyde. Incompetent, inconsiderate staff. Wasted my time by making then canceling 2 appointments on me once I arrived based on incorrect information. I'll explain. Agreed to go to their Lafayette office in order to be fit in before leaving on a trip. Upon arrival I'm informed by the receptionist that they don't take my new insurance (anthem bc calif care). I leave and later look up derms on anthem's website. other drs in same office are listed so I call for a different dr and am told that the lafayette receptionist was mistaken and Tajirian does take my insurance and there's a cancellation so can fit me in the next day. after waiting for 10+ mins, the receptionist in Oakland this time, calls me to the window to inform me that the dr is in a procedure and won't be able to see me once again and we need to reschedule. um, f you too. read more

I went in to have a few suspicious moles on my arms checked, and was told I could leave my bra and underwear on for the examine. The Dr. had no bedside manner from the start and seemed rushed. She barely checked the moles I was concerned about and then with no warning, RIPPED MY BRA DOWN and grabbed my breasts to check under them for moles. There was no "ok, we will also be checking other areas etc". Additionally, her assistant was in the room. I didn't sign up for a breast exam and, while being thorough is appreciated, I felt MOLESTED. This was also the same with her ripping my underwear off to check my butt. No warning at all. Just straight from upper back to bare cheeks. It was extremely unprofessional and disturbing. read more

Excellent MOHS surgeon, and very personable, as well. Everything was explained in great detail. The procedure was "easy" and comfortable, considering she was taking a good sized "plug" from the side of my nose. 6 months later, the scar is invisible. It had been about an inch long in a very prominent place on my face. Follow-up was quick and complete as well. I just had another exam this week and will need to have her do another procedure on my leg. I feel completely confident. The dermatologists in that practice are VERY good. read more

So happy I did my research and found Dr. Tajirian, who is not only a very personable doctor, but also very highly skilled. With her Mohs technique training, she takes very special care with any suspicious (possibly cancer) growths. She has removed several for me and they healed up beautifully. I am in absolute shock of all these high reviews. It's traumatic enough to have chronic skin problems but when I went in after waiting a month for the appointment, I was first asked if a fashion designer could be in my appointment because they were interested in becoming a dermatologist and was shadowing the doctor???!!! I said no. Then when the doctor did come in she grabbed papers out of my hand, and everything was just horrible from that point on. Suffice to say she barely looked me in the eye, hardly listened to me, EVEN CHECKED HER WATCH. Clearly I wasn't a wealthy enough or important enough patient with which to spend 10 min genuinely being present. At one point she even loudly said my diagnosis to her MA over me talking. The question I most remember her asking was "you've seen this cream on a commercial right?" At one point she said "if your quality of life is bad you can get injections". And she never asked me how my quality of life actually was. I've been incredibly depressed from this skin issue but she just didn't have the time to hear that. I just shut down since it was clear she had zero interest in me as a patient. The sad thing is I'm stuck with her right now because I need help. I'm an educated, emotionally intelligent 38 year old woman who is just absolutely shocked by how bad my experience was with this doctor. I couldn't speak more highly of Dr. Tajirian. Seeing her were two of the most efficient effective medical appointments I have ever had. I had a mole removed, and some laser treatment done on a spot on my face. Everything was explained in clear laymen terms. There was definitely a long wait to make an appointment as she is quite popular. Dr. Tajirian and her entire staff were very professional and kind. She has a very good team set up and everything is coordinated perfectly. I recently moved here from France and was unfamiliar with the medical ways here. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and professional they made everything and not to mention how organized!! I was warmly welcomed into the waiting room and asked to fill medical forms out. Before I knew it I was already called in for my consultation. Everything was on the clock and I was walked through the entire process. I was first asked if there were any specific matters I wanted to address, which I did. Then I was examined from head to toe. I had 2 moles taken out that I had wanted to for a while. Dr. Tajirian and her assistant were very patient and understanding with me as I let them know that I wasn't too fond of needles and medical procedures. I easily get nauseous lol. She explained the entire process and the procedure itself was quick and painless. I would recommend Dr. Tajirian to all my family and friends. I am more than satisfied with my visit. Very friendly doctors and staff at this location. I just had my first appointment a week ago and came back today for a follow up with an esthetician. I would give 5 stars but I wish that they had warned me prior to my appointment to stop using topical treatments before coming in to get a peel. Because I didn't know, I took off from work to see the doctor but now have to come back for the treatment since nothing could be done today. It would be hugely helpful to give this important tip to new patients early on so that time isn't wasted and treatment timelines are more effective. read more

My entire experience was amazing. I initially called and scheduled due to a cist on my next I wanted removed. It was very easy to make an appointment and everyone was friendly. The Dr. was super nice and made me feel very comfortable as did her assistant. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes and has healed with no infection or problem. Here I am, two weeks later and the scar is barely visible. With the cream she provided, it should be nearly invisible in another few weeks. Very good experience. read more
