This had been a bad move / experience for my family I am the head of our household finances. I have always been the custodian on all of our accounts. First when we were with Schwab many years ago. Then from bad service at Schwab we moved to TDAMERITRADE and had exceptional service, kindness and great knowledge. Now we are being moved back to Schwab. Again very bad service. They can't find me as a custodian of our accounts. Only on one account they said they would let me set up the account. Wow!! read more

We could not have asked for better service, knowledge, efficiency and good humor. Have been a customer for what should be at least a decade and this company has only made changes out of convenience not consideration for the actual client. 1) The online deposit system does not work. Someone tell management that this scanner for automatic processing of checks just does not work. It goes too fast then says can't read it, then says sorry there is an issue the whole dang thing is down. Come on, man! What good is a bank if you can't even submit a check online? My check is going to expire if this problem is not resolved! Stupid, stupid, stupid! 2) The debit card is a pain in the arse. They keep giving more and more excuses too, like it's not actually an everyday debit card, or Visa says blah blah blah. They will block you before your ten transaction limit just because you were having issues finding a ride with ride-sharing apps! So you're having to call these guys up. Often times staff are rude on the phone, reminding and nagging you about things or bringing in a supervisor and wanting to have a coping session instead of resolving the dang issue! 3) Free stock. This is a plus. One time waited way too long for someone to answer the phone and he issued me a bunch of new stocks as a reward for the effort. Have to give him kudos for that. This is a GOOD thing. 4) All these issues with what kind of bank account is it? Don't even get me started on this one because apparently it's impacting the ability to use my card. Also, my card got randomly blocked the other day. WTH? It was not even a dollar probably for Google, chill out. Am getting really, really sick of having to call these guys so many times because what were supposed to be seamless services are messing up on a regular basis. This is not how envisioned Schwab to be, especially ten years of experience in clients. This branch am sure is okay, but probably some of the same issues as the ones you might deal with online and using a debit card. Am just not crazy about this bank anymore. read more

My family and I have been working with Charles Schwab for years for our investments. They've always taken great care of us. Excellent customer service and follow-through. Not too pushy or esoteric. I've never been fluent in finance-speak. Some of it can be VERY confusing. But the associates I've dealt with over the years (including my current guy - Sam Black), have always been patient with me and my financial illiteracy. They always explain things to me in a way that I can understand. And I truly believe that they have my best interests at heart. Their new Corte Madera office is quite nice, too! read more

Staff were friendly and professional, but when I walk in a place I expect to be able to ask some questions and get some work done. In this branch they primarily give you forms and if you have any questions they give you a business card or sticky-note with phone numbers of support staff. If I wanted to conduct business over the phone I wouldn't walk in! I don't get it. Frustrating more cannot be done in this branch. read more

My experience with Charles Scwabb, Corte Madera, didn't start out very well. I called to speak to someone there regarding my accounts, and the phone just rang and rang. No response. I tried again; same thing. I needed to conduct some time sensitive business, so I drove down to the office. The address listed on the internet is the Village Mall address, but it doesn't say where in the mall; arrrgh! (Hint, it's across from The Gap store). On the bright side, there's good parking. Anyway, ... when I arrived I went to the front desk and got far less than a warm welcome from the woman there. As I was attempting to assure her that I would like to speak to someone about opening an additional account she told me that I would have to come back another day. I am sure that by this time my face was becoming a cartoonish red, and the train whistle steam was starting to come out my ears. As I counted silently to ten, a well appointed young man, Paskal Z, assured me that he could help me and took me to an office where he deftly and professionally opened the account with me. Paskal saved the day. Were it not for him I might very well be currently ensconced in a different brokerage firm, with my not-so-insignificant balance. He truly saved a customer for Schwab. Not long after he started the process of opening this complicated trust account, we had a visit from a VP, Matt W., who assured me that I was in good hands and that he was available to both of us, if need be. By now I felt confident that Paskal was the man for the job, and I was glad to see that Matt had followed up. Whatever the first-level glitch was, and they happen to all of us at one time or another, Paskal and Matt made me feel confident that Charles Schwab, Corte Madera, will be a good fit for me and for my financial advisory needs. Later, Matt W. called me at home to follow-up and made sure that my service needs were met and to encourage me to reach out to him or Paskal in the future. That is the kind of customer service I was expecting from the beginning and, in the end, received. Schwab has a very user friendly website, as I have since discovered, but it is good to know there are actually qualified people to whom I can turn, when need be. read more

I give two stars instead of one because Schwab, as a company is really good, and there is at least one helpful person in this branch. Other than that, the people at the front desk just never seem to know what they are doing. One of them is very new, so that is understandable, but that is the only excuse that applies. Every time I visit that branch, I wish I hadn't. I used to go the branch on Post at Kearney all the time and they were absolutely great. Oh well. read more

I've been doing business with Schwab for over 25 years, and it just keeps getting better. As a company, I think they deliver excellent service, have sharp, helpful staff, and really good financial products. Our Schwab VISA credit card has the lowest rates of any of our credit cards, for example. The Schwab Bank checking accounts pay interest with no fees, although you have to mail deposits in using their postage paid envelopes, or visit one of the few branches that can do checking transactions. The only thing you cannot do is get cash, so you have to pay the $2-3 surcharge whenever you use another bank's ATM. I just get cash back at the grocery store, using the Schwab Bank debit card. Internet access is excellent, to all accounts through a single login. Transactions can be automatically downloaded to Quicken, iBank etc. without any extra fees. The web site is reasonably quick, better than most banks I've dealt with, and very reliable. I've also gotten impressive service 24 hours a day on the rare occasion when an issue surfaces, like dealing with international wire transfers. The branch in Corte Madera is solid, with great staff. They are set up to do checking/banking transactions as well as stock account transactions (although they do not keep cash on hand.) I rarely have to wait to speak to someone, and if I do, it is a short wait. They have patiently and helpfully gotten me through complex paper work, too. Strongly recommended. Don't be afraid to leave your big bank with it's big fees. read more

Check your paperwork before you leave! This office regularly misdates deposits I make to my SEP IRA. When I request a deposit for the previous year's tax purposes, they date it the current year. This is an issue I always have to spend extra time correcting. It's pretty simple: just input the correct numbers for both the deposit amount and the date. read more

My husband and I have been with Schwab for over 25 years. I had an appt at the branch this week to once again find a person I can work with on a consistent basis and get a durable power of attorney activated. The person I met with was condescending and misogynistic. At least this time they didn't lose a significant amount of our investments. But the arrogance is appalling. I will be moving our assets out of there. read more

This is not about a particular branch. This is about my overall Charles Schwab experience. If there was an online/telephone choice, I'd leave my review on that. I had an account for a year with Charles Schwab. I specifically asked to be able to do options trading. I am a bit of a conservative trader so it was a year later that I decided to buy stock options for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Low and behold, my account was at a level that didn't allow me to trade standard call and put options. Schwab has 4 different levels and my approval level didn't give me the ability to. I was told by multiple reps that I needed to fax in a new application with the higher level request. I didn't have access to a fax. On my own a couple days later, I discovered I could do this online. I requested the higher options level (for what* should* be allowed on a basic options account) kept calling every couple of days with each rep saying "it's in review but I will expedite it; it takes about 2 days". A week later I get an email survey so I put down my dissatisfaction. I get a call and I am finally approved for the level I was seeking, with an apology, and a choice between free trades and $50.. A few weeks later, last night, I decided to do an option trade. I am told I was not approved for that level and never was. I sent an email showing I was approved. Then I am told "you were approved but downgraded 2 days later". WHOA!!!! This is now 2 out of 2 times Schwab has tied my hands on a very time sensitive trade! I was told it was because of my dissatisfaction. Note, I was in Northern California and was dealing with the famous fire over here for a week so I was not "peaches and cream" during the first attempt to trade options. I was told it was "very unfortunate that happened to you but because of it you are going to be 'punished' for 6 months, when you call ask for a review again." Holy smokes! If they want to punish me for being upset, fine. But the fact that my account was downgraded a 2nd time and NO HEADS UP was given to let me know is just unbelievable. Imagine thinking you are set up to trade time sensitive options and to learn that your account was downgraded and you were never informed. That is NOT RIGHT!! Unless you are a perhaps a millionaire, you and your money means nothing to them. read more

I have found Schwab as a whole to be a great company for both brokerage and banking services. They're a great alternative to big banks. The Corte Madera branch is usually helpful, but at times a bit inflexible. read more

I have been with Schwab for many years and I have never been completely satisfied with their service. After, my third failed attempt in 6 months to have important information and settings corrected on my accounts, I decided that it was time to find a new brokerage. The Corte Madera Schwab is not a good location from both a customer service nor an organizational perspective. The employees will tell you that they will fix whatever problem you come in with, but then you never hear from them again. You continue to call and another excuse comes out. Avoid this brokerage completely if you intend to make yourself any money. read more

if you can go to any other branch I highly recommend it! this branch either has employees that don't care or simply dont know what they're doing. they never answer a phone. not once. have to leave messages and then pawn it off to their national line so they don't have to deal with it. they're lack of knowledge with accounts cost people like us money! not listening to what customer wants done with their accounts...theyre lazy and very unhelpful. not recommended at all!! read more
