Long before bachelorettes woo-hooed their way into our ears (and nightmares) and short-term rentals displaced residents, there was a Nashville that made sense. You knew where to go for what. In Belle Meade, if you needed a card, cardigan or cart full of chocolates, Katy's Hallmark in Belle Meade was where you headed. Be it Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, or some other mom/grandma-approved holiday, you would be sure to find me here picking up a Hallmark* card along with stocking stuffers, fancy card stock and pens, chocolates, truffles, confections, perfumes, scarves, and more. This was more than a card shop: it was a one-stop shop for every mom, aunt, grandma, teacher, in your life. If you couldn't find it here, you couldn't find it. And you could find it for a reasonable price. Despite the location, you wouldn't be beset by Belle Meade prices. I found the service ranged from extremely helpful to polite but never did i feel unwelcome. Most all the employees were nice.** This is the genteel legacy of what Nashville used to be. Parking was spacious and easy to come by and if you still had a shopping itch after you came here, you could walk the rest of the strip mall (or grab a bite to eat). I'm not much of a shopper so I was more of an 'in and out' kinda guy but I never left without gifts and usually the exact gift I came in for (if not a very close variant). Luckily, Katy's is still here -- just moved. 4500 has been lost to 'progress' and more out of town development but if you need to get your fill of goodies for the ladies in your life, hop on down to 6033 Hwy 100 and check them out there. Came here on a weekday morning. There was plenty of parking. The store wasn't too crowded. There was two sales associates. When I entered I was not greeted. I ended up getting a card hit honey for a gift and jelly beans for a kids gift. This location has a little country old-fashioned style where you will definitely find your candles, aprons, little knickknacks, and gifts. When I had the opportunity to check out, Joy did not provide me a coupon initially, but when I made the second purchase, and brought it to her attention she provided. She did not bring joy but a fake kindness and hate like she had to be nice. Sad in 2024 still get the subtitle racism. Hallmark is a dying breed and when stores do things like this. I have always enjoyed the Katy's Hallmark shop in Belle Meade. It was my one stop shop for gifts to bring during the holidays. I preferred the Belle Meade location too given the larger selection and that they offer free gift bags or wrap. Love that they have a variety of gifts, jewelry, home goods, cards, etc. I just visited their new location in West Meade and have mixed thoughts, seems more jammed packed and harder to maneuver in the store, much smaller jewelry area as well as monogram area. The location makes sense given the large attraction to other businesses versus the old location. read more

Had a very interesting experience today. Was helped by a very friendly associate In my search for packaged Mother's Day cards. However as I browsed the earrings in the front of the store, I noticed I was receiving some "unwanted attention". Each time I touched a set of earrings she made a comment. I finally ignored her instead of being cordial. I purchased almost $100 worth of merch today. I considered returning it. I have been purchasing ornaments, cards and other unique gifts from Katy's for myself, family and friends for over 30 years and have always loved this store until today. I have spent thousands of dollars and my time going exclusively to this store. I bought an ornament in December and specifically ask if I had already purchased it earlier, could I return it. The sale associate told me "sure no problem ". Well not so! I was told by the store manager NO. I only had 30 days and my time had expired since the purchase was on 12/12/2024. STORE POLICY ! I enjoy my occasional trip to Katy's and there's always some neat stuff to see, though I have never bought anything but cards and stationery. My late wife went there a lot and when she died I had her "frequent buyer" card switched over to my name which was a wise move. Each year in my birthday month I get a card giving me 20% off on my entire purchase. I zip in and buy a year's worth of birthday cards and don't have to think about it again. During the year I get other mailings that have discounts and I sometimes use them. The place is full of seasonal gift items, candy, jewelry, and other stuff. The employees are nice and know their business. In past years, we sometimes had custom Christmas cards made and the people were great and knew what they were doing. I recommend Katy's! read more

Today was my first visit to Katy's Hallmark. I love the product selection in the store, but I wanted to take a moment to express disappointment and frustration in my experience today. I called Katy's Hallmark this morning because I needed to get a gift wrapped. I spoke to an employee on the phone who told me that they would wrap a gift (even if I didn't buy it at the store) if I bought the paper and supplies from the store, which was very reasonable. When I arrive at the store, it is busy, busy, busy, which is fitting because (like I said) the product selection is really great. I waited in line, and I told an employee that I wanted to get something that I didn't buy at the store wrapped. With grimace, she told me to pick out some paper. While trying to pick out some paper, another employee asked me if I needed help. I was going to ask her opinion on which ribbon/paper to choose when she mentioned that they would not wrap anything not purchased in the store. She said that they used to do that, but aren't now. I am writing this to let you (shoppers) know that the employees at Katy's Hallmark maybe do and maybe don't wrap things that are not bought in the store (depending on who you ask), and I want to make sure that the employees at Katy's Hallmark get on the same page. I don't really understand why Katy's Hallmark decided not to wrap gifts when you purchase the wrapping materials from them. If they had wrapped my gifts, I would have spent the time browsing the store, and I can say with complete certainty that I would have purchased more than the gift wrap supplies. I will probably return to purchase Christmas accessories this holiday season, but I don't know that I trust the employees to know what is going on in the store. This store is probably the largest Hallmark store that I have ever been in. It has everything from adorable sock monkeys to a ginormous Vera Bradley Display to all sorts of Brighton Charms. I am obsessed with the Lolita Glasses, the have wine glasses and super cute ice cream bowls. I love, love, love Katy's Hallmark and always have. If you are in need of a gift - can be a shower gift for a girlfriend, fun surprise for a kid, Mother's/Father's Day, graduation, etc. - head on over and you'll fall in love with something. They carry an exceptional selection of Tag branded products, as well other great lines, plus of course the Hallmark exclusives. And Tervis tumblers for every taste. Yes, they have cards, of course. They have an exceptional print shop in the back where you can select invitations that you print at home or they print for you. Such nice staff back in that area! They carry Vera Bradley, (not my thing), collectibles and figures, (again, not my thing), and a great selection of framed college photographic things. You know the photography where someone photographs an object that looks like a letter and spells out your name? They have this line that does that with the names of many SEC and other universities in the area, and the photographed landmarks are shots that (appear to be) taken on campus. I'm not the SEC expert to know for sure, but for my alma mater (Lipscomb University) and Vanderbilt University I know they are. They have other collegiate gifts, too, really an exceptional selection. This store isn't cheap, but what do you expect in Belle Meade. If you are not enrolled in the Hallmark Gold Crown Club you're missing out - rebates and specials all the time. I'm ashamed to say that I've been living in Nashville for 2 and a half years and just discovered this place. I read a couple reviews about the staff being less than friendly but I have to say that was not my experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Even though the store was very crowded, my mom and I had no fewer than 6 sales associates try to help us. They weren't even trying to sell us things-they were just conversing with us about the items we were looking at. Two even told us how to make our own mercury glass! I know one's name was Katie and we absolutely loved her. Having been to a couple Hallmark stores in my day, this is nothing like your typical store. They have EVERYTHING. My mom and I popped in to browse and left with three bags full of merchandise. The ladies who worked in jewelry were also particularly helpful. They introduced us to the Ronaldo designer jewelry collection, which is handmade Christian-themed jewelry. We ended up buying my grandmother 4 bracelets-one for each grandchild. I didn't just buy for my grandmother. I checked like 6 people off my Christmas list after a single trip. All in all, my experience here was very pleasant and I will absolutely be back. read more

I would imagine this store is to most women as a massive Bass Pro or Cabela's shop is to most men; they don't sell anything you really need, but every section is jam-packed full of things that you WANT. Seriously, the first thing I thought when I walked in was that this place looks like their inventory was custom-tailored for my wife. Yes it's a Hallmark, but it's massive, and the typical Hallmark stuff only takes up a portion of it. There's also jewelry & charms, a Vera Bradley (my wife's fav) section, an entire custom-stationery shop in the back, a fudge/chocolate counter in the center, tons of decorative items, candles, and tons of other various things. I have shopped at Katy's for years. They have beautiful things. Unfortunately, their staff leaves a lot to be desired. There is one woman in particular that is always so rude I won't even let her ring my purchases any more. I would rather stand in another line than deal with her. I do not know why the owner hasn't fired her long ago. Someone told me she may be a relative but I do not know for sure. Almost all of them have arrogant attitudes. The nicest ones are the young girls. They are not knowledgeable but at least they smile. That goes a long way for me. Last Christmas I had to make seven trips to get my order monogrammed correctly. There was one young lady who was helpful and very apologetic. This year I vowed not to go there at Christmas but I broke down and did. I have never been in the store that there was not some "issue". Usually it has to do with price or availability of something they have advertised. They do a lot of false advertising in their flyers they mail. I try to stay away from there during the year and support other businesses.This year I vowed not to go there at Christmas but I broke down and did. After careful going through Xmas cards founds some that were 4.99. On hour layer finding special cards I needed. I went to check out. They box of cards that said 4.99 on them rung up at 20.00 I showed the cashier which explained to another which the other just pulled the ticket off and said we are not selling them for the price that was on the box. I ask if she was going to honor the price that was on the box when I choice then she said she could not if people put stickets on the boxes. Which was very dis respectful. I had over 60.00 worth of cards to pay for but because I was so rudely spoken to I choose to leave everything and will not be back. They lost an invitation that I had brought there as a template for another invitation I needed. They promised me I would get it back. It was very sentimental to me. They said that the manager was out to lunch when I discovered it was gone and that they would call me back to let me know what happened. Well, they called me back less than 30 minutes later and said it was gone forever. Sounds like they did not even look for it. My family and have shopped here for a long time and every time I have gone the costumer service has been less than what should be expected. Some of the people who work there wont even talk to you or engage with you at all. The attitude in the store is that they are much better than the people coming in and that they don't need to be nice, inviting or helpful because they know people will come into their shop regardless. This type of attitude that most of the older ladies who work at Katy's has (the younger employees are very kind and helpful) is what is wrong with people today. I will be avoiding spending any more money at Katy's until they work with their staff about how to be nice and helpful to their customers. In addition to collecting Keepsake ornaments, I am also a huge fan of Jim Shore and Byers Choice. I live in Bartlett, TN, just outside of Memphis where there are plenty of Hallmark shops, but none compare to Katy's. Have recently ordered invitations from this store and will never deal with them again. To begin with, if they do not know you when you walk in the door, they will not wait on you. They pointedly ignore your presence until you ask to be waited on. The in-stock invitation selection was poor but I went ahead because I really needed to get these in a hurry. Very disappointing when I got them. From now on I will go anywhere else to find the quality and service that was so sadly lacking here. The rest of the store is fine.
