Happy Days anyone? This place is off of lancaster blvd and has the absolutely best breakfast food EVER. It's nothing fancy, typical dinner food. But it's delicious. Portions are rather large, service is fair, and the whole place has a relaxed feel. Perfect for catching up with a friend or just a leisurely lunch. There are definitely a group of regulars - 65+ year old men who play a numbers game and are more than happy to teach you. We usually get delivery from them. But today my office was starving so I ordered and went to pick it up. The delivery girl is always nice. I was really surprised at how NICE the whole staff here was. Service was attentive and courteous. The dish arrived quickly. They are a themed restaurant and they will not let you forget it. I had biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs and bacon. I ordered coffee. The highlight of the dish was the sausage gravy. It was very flavorful and thick. The biscuits were decent, though I'm confident they weren't made fresh. One of my favorite ways of eating biscuits and gravy is breaking the egg yolks and soaking it up with the biscuits. However the eggs were slightly overcooked and not as runny as I was expecting. Finally the bacon was crispy and a peppery but nothing spectacular. Overall, I'll likely be back because the dish was decent for the price. This place is amazing! The staff is great and the food is delicious. My personal favorite is the Jackie Gleason. It has a burger patty, cheese, bacon, and tomato. All between two sourdough breads. My husband always gets their peanut butter milkshake. He said you get chunks of peanut butter and he loves it. read more

I used to live in palmdale 10 years ago and frequently ate here. Stopped by in the area to reminisce, and ended up having lunch here. So sad to say that the quality of food has gone downhill since last being here years ago. Ordered the pastrami sandwich which was watery with stale bread. My daughter had a French dip with same stale bread. So sad. Not coming back again. Place was pretty empty too although used to standing room only and wait to be called. To be seated. I've been coming to this place for over 20 years and it is one of the best for breakfast in the A.V. The food can vary from diner average to exceptional, depending on the cook on duty. The service is always friendly, and the staff will remember your usual order if you're a regular. The 50's decor is nice bonus and the restaurant is usually clean and tidy. Awesome 50 diner that is only open for breakfast and lunch. Every thing I order is always delicious. They also have old school mix ins for the sodas. Been coming to this place for a while now and for some reason I'm always hungry when I get there. Make sure that you get there some what early, the place is rather small in the inside but the wait is worth it. I tried a lot of different items on the menu but for some reason I always end up with the California Omelet with crispy hash browns and wheat toast. One thing that gets me every time, is that I always as for my toast "burnt" and it comes crispy. The blacker the better. The service is about average and the portions are larger than usual which is go in my book. read more

This is such a perfect breakfast place. A little overpriced but it's worth it when the food is fresh and the portions are big. Not to mention the great service. It's a a cute place. You can't go wrong when Elvis is mentioned on the menu and his pictures are on their walls. Yay! read more

I've been K-n-J Café a couple of times the few times the very few times I go up to Lancaster from Los Angeles. One person asked why not five stars. For this type of place compared to others I could see this, but for me I could not afford going to a true five star restaurant with gourmet chefs and waiters in tux's. The place is better than Denny's, Coco's or even Bob's Big Boy. The couple of times I was there, the service was good and the food was above average. The place was full. The downside is the restrooms are outside in the back next to the parking lot. If I lived in Lancaster, would this be on my list as a place to go? Yes. This coming Friday I plan on taking Metrolink (commuter rail) from Los Angeles with a friend. I do plan to have lunch at K-n-J Café. Would this place be as popular with a different décor? I don't know but it does remind me of the malt-shop across the street from my High School that has long since been gone. Would I recommend this place to others? YES! (I think the foot photos do more harm than good based on my visits.) read more

Nicely decorated cafe. Friendly staff The trouble I had was that I paid $16 plus tip for a cup of coffee and an omelette with hash browns and biscuit n gravy. Truly delicious breakfast. The decor is like an old cafe from the 40's or 50's. Friendly customer service. The menu has plates named after people such as Elvis and Humphrey Bogart. The French toast is amazing. Will be coming here quite frequently for weekend breakfasts with the family. read more

Loved this restaurant with its '50's decor. Service was attentive and fast. The chicken fried steak was generous and delicious. The biscuits were light and fluffy. Next time I would order the biscuits without the gravy, which was a bacon gravy and cold. I much prefer a sausage gravy. The grits were steaming hot. It wasn't an inexpensive breakfast-$34. With tip, it was $40. This included chicken fried steak with hash browns and a lighter selection of one egg with bacon and home fries. We also ordered a side of grits which were steaming hot. I love the layout and decor of this place - vintage diner style with retro posters up on the walls - and the service was fantastic. However the food was profoundly mediocre - my omelette was a messy scramble without the balanced proportions and fresh ingredients that you want, and the rest of the table's food left a lot of be desired as well. The coffee is always hot and delicious; the food flavorful and scrumptious. This is by far my favorite AV breakfast joint. Maybe it's the 1950s nostalgic decor because I am a sucker for vinyl and checker board tile. I order a California omelette every where I go and theirs is by far the best. Went for breakfast with my family. As soon as we went in we were greeted with such hospitality. When we ordered and our server was great. She said we could order off the menu and would make whatever we wanted. I like the pancake sandwich but they did not have that specifically on the menu, she said no problem "we'll make it for you". My sister and brother in law ordered omelettes and they were huge. Our food was served quickly and tasted great. Needless to say we took food home. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I love the decor and everything this restaurant has to offer. Do not be turned off by the area. It's a quiet place and it's one of the best kept secrets in Lancaster. Johnny Depp even ate here many times when he was filming out here.. As soon as you walk in you feel like you have been transformed back to the 50s. I love the service here. They are very friendly. The food is amazing. They make fluffy pancakes and great omelettes, sandwiches, burgers and fries. I absolutely love their malt/shake selection. My favorite is the chocolate peanut butter shake. You can also order a Shirly Temple (7up and cherry juice mixed together) with free refills. Food is a little pricey but no more expensive than you would find at a IHOP or going to BEX and it is well worth it. Plus they do really give you a good sized meal. read more
