They rarely answer the phone or return calls promptly, and their voicemail states they're open when they're actually closed. I was scheduled for an outpatient procedure at KVMH, but no one informed me that the office would be closed for an extended Christmas break. This left me without any way to reach the clinic for questions or concerns leading up to and after the procedure. While I appreciate Dr. Choi, the lack of communication from his office makes it difficult for patients to get the support they need. Unfortunately, since this is the only Pain Clinic on the island, I don't have other options--but if I did, I would strongly consider switching.

So many of them are experienced and it just shows through the level of care of provided! Love, love, love the CNAs here! Ill also applaud the nurses here, many of which are locals to Kauai. Its nice to see so many of Kauai's residents thriving here at Garden Isle. I did dock a star because there are a handful of upper management (mainly nursing managers) that do not convey the same love as the CNAs and nurses. Very snappy and unenthusiastic in helping others on the floor. Garden Isle does a good job with their daily activites for their residents as well as maintaining a happy floor staff. Would recommend this place for families looking for long-term care or even rehab. services.

I love walking in the door and seeing Kirbys smiling face. This woman is as informed about the techniques as her husband, a real rarity in front office medical situations! Ive been seeing Dustin for the past 5 months and have had a dramatic improvement in mobility and decreased pain. Ive also lost 50 pounds and have increased stamina. I know it sounds like pie in the sky, but Im a retired nurse and am trained in how to assess improvements in health. Im a walking advertisement for the system Pain Free Kauai offers. They offer me the tools and its up to me to make use of them, just like in all other healthcare situations. Dustin and Kirby are caring, supportive and very informative. Ive learned more about nutrition and body mechanics there than I learned in nursing school and in my entire nursing career! Ive been introduced to exercises that have lessened my pain, supplements that have helped rebuild my very unhealthy gut bacteria, and tips on how to make my body healthier and stronger. It requires a lot of personal work, but its worth it. My quality of life has gone from nearly unable to move from pain and lethargy, to active and energetic and nearly pain free. I credit this man and woman with offering the support and means for changing my life for the better. I cant wait to see how Ill feel after Ive stuck with it for a year.

The residents whom I had a chance to talk with rave about the facility, the warm family atmosphere, the staff and especially the wonderful food! I would heartily recommend Regency at Puakea for any and all needs for the Independent and Assisted Living Resident! They also have a wonderful "Special Services Unit" for the resident that may need a more structured, safe community for the resident with Alzheimer's or other Dementia Care needs.
