I had no idea how these companies worked and was somewhat uncomfortable at the thought of strangers coming into my house at the worst time of my life. They changed my life. They supported me 100% throughout the end of his life. I don't know how I would've managed without them now. This weekend part of the goodness of their hearts they put on a memorial at Calvary by the sea Lutheran Church. I cannot say enough about this company. They are still supportive and I thank God he blessed for him and I with their goodness and support.

After grandpa recovered from a mega life event/ illness, I informed grandpa's inpatient medical team that we'd like hospice care with Malama Ola and they quickly assisted us with coordinating care with them. I am VERY GRATEFUL for everyone at Malama Ola for taking EXCEPTIONAL care of grandpa, myself and my family during our short encounter with them. Everyone was truly wonderful. So many people to be thankful for (please forgive me if I don't remember everyone's names, there were MANY phone calls throughout grandpa's care and transition). But thank you to Marche (our patient advocate), Christian (our admitting nurse), Danny (our spiritual counselor who played his lovely guitar for grandpa), Jay (our social worker), Jorge (our nurse aid), and Brad (our LPN). And everyone and anyone who may have checked in on grandpa but I missed. Truly thankful for each and everyone one of you, and for all you do. The team at Malama Ola actively listens to families wishes and also strongly advocates for patient comfort and quality of life during this time of their life. Any questions or concerns were addressed right away. They helped us get the medical equipment we needed to assist us in keeping my parents at home. When the end came, a single phone call brought the nurses to the bedside who helped us thru the process. We were assigned a chaplain at the start who called to offer any spiritual support and would visit. Appreciate the sensitivity and support we received from Islands Hospice. Mahalo !

Its nice to see so many of Kauai's residents thriving here at Garden Isle. I did dock a star because there are a handful of upper management (mainly nursing managers) that do not convey the same love as the CNAs and nurses. Very snappy and unenthusiastic in helping others on the floor. Garden Isle does a good job with their daily activites for their residents as well as maintaining a happy floor staff. Would recommend this place for families looking for long-term care or even rehab. services.

She was so comfortable and supported by all the nurses. The facility is clean, spacious, and beautiful. They have activities every day for the patience, helping them to feel included and not excluded from the world while they heal. The nurses were attentive, friendly, and kind to her. Their follow up has been amazing, post discharge, they continue to check on mom. Their services they provide are top tier, I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs to heal, rehab, and be comfortable and supported while doing so. The communication with staff is not the greatest. They made my mom wait long periods when calling…read morestaff on the call button for assistance or anything could of happen on numerous times/days. They really don't follow Doctors orders or read their notes for different shifts. She would sit in soiled diapers or could of fell or any type of emergency and no one would know due to long periods of wait times. Wait times varied from 15minutes or up to 1 hour while I was there. Kept her phone near told her to call 911 you might get help faster or try to yell for help if emergency. Also, was not made aware if discharged earlier than planned discharged would not be able to file appeal if needed to. Would be nice if communicated this, patient and family could reconsider to planned discharge. Nothing was stated when request made for earlier discharge one day prior. This would be really beneficial for future clients too. Food could be better and temperature. Not very sanitary. Need more cleaning and steam cleaning of their bedding and curtains and use of gloves all the time.
