It was OK without it, but I wasn't expecting it. 2- The bed in the orchid room is mushy, mushy, mushy. And also, not at all firm. Neither of us slept great because of it, and that was a bummer. He tries to give me updates during the planning process, but I trust his judgement. This year we used AirBnB to book this lovely studio. We love Kauai and it's our first time staying in the sunny South. We've stayed in the North, but most of the things we want to do and see are in the South... Salt Pond (RIP Uncle Louie), Hanapepe Art Walk, Poipu Beach for night photos. Poipu Beach Surfsong is in a great neighbourhood. Of course we rented a car because you need one to get around here, but there are so many things within walking distance. We walked along the road to the Beach House Restaurant. We walked up the street to Kukui'ula Shopping Centre a couple times, once for the Culinary Market--- a must see. If you need to sprawl out on a beach, Baby Beach is just across the street. My hubby who loves to walk would have made many more things "within walking distance", but I was satisfied with what was around... I wasn't going to walk to Poipu Shopping Centre. I am on holidays. The studio suite itself was just the right size for the two of us. There was a futon-y thing in front of the window, but that just held whatever we threw on it... our clothes, souvenirs. I sleep like the dead so I can't really say how comfy the bed was... it was comfy enough for me. There are fans and lots of cross ventilation because of the windows on both sides. There is an eating area outside and a table and stools inside. There's a coffee maker, and a fridge to hold my ice cream. From the pictures, we thought there was a microwave, but we didn't see one. We only ate breakfast in our room. Otherwise we ate out or got ready made food... there are glasses, plates and cutlery. I thought the shower water pressure was really weird until I actually turned on the shower properly. You don't know how dumb you are until you try to turn on someone else's shower. There is also a shower outside for rinsing all the sand off. One of the people staying upstairs said he comes back every year to the same suite. It's not new or fancy. It could do with some renovations, but that would ruin the vibe of it. It would be great to rent the whole house and have a get-together there... there's an area in the back behind the laundry room--- I only poked my head in. I would definitely come back. When we arrived, there was a box of chocolates and local bananas for us. Yum!

They provided beach towels and a cooler too. We were also able to have some quiet time and relax with making dinner and having a glass of wine on the patio. The internet was free and worked really well. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating with all our needs. On our last day we had to check out early (10am) but our flight was not until 7pm. The front desk offered to hold our baggage (so we don't have to risk any breakins to our vehicle while parked at beach parks) and also offered us a complimentary room to shower and get ready before we leave for our flight and this was after checkout!! we have never had that much of courtesy showed to us before and was very impressed by it. Also they let us use the beach towels for the rest of the day. I highly recommend this place for your Kauai visit!

The bartenders are fun and will make just about anything you can dream up! Large pool is warm enough, hot tubs are wonderful-room for a dozen. The adult hot tub is hotter with chairs, longed and clean new gas grills. This resort is beautiful, w ocean views, walking trails, glorious trees and birds. Two small drawers in a wardrobe unit in the bedroom. There is no way you could store clothes for four people in the place. The studio is really cramped, with even less space in the "kitchen" - there's no way I could stay in that space. The pool by the ocean, on the hotel side is too small given the number of rooms and people. The pool by the villas is a much better size but there is no food service over there. The grilling area needs to be cleaned everyday and it is not. The tables are disgustingly dirty.

Oddly they only allow 5 devices associated with your room, which is not really feasible in this modern age of tech/gadgets. The staff was able to add 5 more devices free. Our unit had a modern smart water heater, dryer, washer, dishwasher, all appliances were new. The chickens on the island when I had visited always went off around 5AM. At times going off at random times between 3 -5am. Not the resort's fault. But what I do fault them on is poor sound insulation. Example is every room has shuttered windows and a screen. NO Wall there. So its easy for sound to travel right through. I wore ear plugs all through the night and still got woken up by those chickens. Also, people above us on the 2nd floor, you could hear every step they made (not their fault). So. be warned, if you are a light sleeper - good luck. Pools were fine, not warm. The 2 Hot tubs on next to the main lobby were hot and nice. The other on the other pool area wasn't as hot. The grills there worked well. We tried them out for a meal or two. No house keeping, but you may request them to bring extra towels, pool towels, etc. through their text system. Convenient way to communicate with staff.
