    I've been here twice as a chaperone for our sons' school orchestra camp in 2013 and 2016…read more Pros: Great food, all cabins are air-conditioned, clean, nice décor, well-maintained grounds, friendly staff, secure/gated with care taker living on property near the main gate, and adequate hot water for each cabin. Camp grounds included a large outdoor commercial-grade tent that the orchestra used for large-group practice. Their next door neighbor is the Kamehameha Schools' Preschool and another part of the Pu'u Kahea center is bordered by a canal: bottom line: safe and secure. There are also newer residential homes along the street where the entrance is located. There's an old "mansion" on the property where Disney filmed the movie Parent Trap in 1998. We used the mansion for some of the chaperones and student officers, and it's really nice. The mansion also includes the dining area and a third floor loft. This facility is affiliated with the Baptist church, however, it's open to anyone. This place would be ideal for church groups or adult groups that need to break out into separate meeting groups. And yes, kids' orchestra/band camps too. Also, our church (Catholic) conducted their teen group's confirmation retreat here as well, with great results. The outdoor facilities include a bonfire area, basketball and volleyball courts. Cons: Minor: their ice machine broke on one of the weekends that we were there, so the parents drove to Kapolei Costco to buy ice. We also heard that our school's band camp the week before also experienced the broken ice machine, therefore the broken ice machine had been unaddressed for at least 2 weeks. There's no pool. the front lawn area is uneven, ungraded, sloped and has trees in a grove, so if you want to do football or soccer, it would be difficult. There are other open areas on the property that might suffice if you need a large open outdoor area. however, because our group spent most of the time indoors and in the grove area, I can't really evaluate the features of the other outdoor spaces.

The building that this spot is in looks a little rough, but once you enter Kaeo Studios, it's a vibe! There are many businesses that operate in the same building so parking can be limited until 9pm. Our party was in the Trellis Room and the aesthetic is so cute! It's designed to look like a garden and is very spacious. This room can seat about 20/30 people and there is a separate little room for kids or people who don't want to be in the Karaoke mix hehe. There is no food served as it is BYOB and bring your own food. The service is always efficient and awesome. I am hoping to book my mom's party here this year!

Caller & spoke with the owners & scheduled for my husband to swing by & view. Whelp, lucky us, we have a great karaoke space in our hood! Online reservations make it easy to see what's available. We opted for the pergola room (teenagers bday party) which accommodates 24. Super cute setup, very spacious, private bathroom (it was kinda hidden!). We were allowed to being in our own food & drinks, & they were kind enough to allow me to have personal decorations put up before my daughter arrived. I can't tell you firsthand how the karaoke system setup is (the teenagers made the decisions for the night) but I do know the songs were submitted via their phones. There a QR code to scan, etc. Either way, there weren't any mixups with the songs, pretty smooth. They do have a one/ time charge of $3 per person, if I remember correctly that's like a clean up fee. They also offer some small snacks. Various rooms to accommodate all size parties! They're located in Westgate shopping center, upper floor (Thelma's Filipino food & Leeward drive in are downstairs). Parking lot is decent sized but can definitely fill up with the number of other establishments here.

We arrived early in the morning, not realizing that the venue didn't open until 10am. Because it had been raining, the grass was wet, and when we drove in, it created some muddy tracks. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner immediately became hostile. We were met with insults about our intelligence and were spoken to with profanity. Rather than calmly explaining the situation or asking us to leave respectfully, we were told to "get the fuck out" of the property and asked, "who the tf do you think you are?" The entire interaction felt aggressive and completely uncalled for. Everyone makes simple mistakes, especially when information like opening hours isn't clearly known beforehand. But there's no excuse for treating potential clients with that level of disrespect. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this venue to anyone looking for a professional, welcoming place to host an important event like a wedding.

Rasika even brought a box of mangoes and offered us as many as we could eat (and we LOVE mangoes!) The bag included the mangoes, a bag of salad greens (probably 6 servings or so), a small amount of dill, a bunch of kale, some very potent YUMMY smelling flowers (but I'm not sure if they're edible?), a bunch of moringa and a few small carrots. The produce was all very fresh and tastes amazing. My only small complaint is that they don't give you a card with your bag's contents and their website just has a generic greens list with pictures. Luckily I was able to figure out the moringa thanks to their website, but I'm still not sure about the flowers so they may go to waste. I highly recommend this CSA. It's less expensive than the others on the island and the organic produce is hard to beat. FYI - they also have a Kailua pickup available.

    TEC ART HAS DONE IT AGAIN!…read more I had a great experience when I was planning my daughters 1st birthday that I knew I would be coming back to their services again in the future. One year later, here I am giving an update on this year's services I had Tec Art help do for me. I wasn't planning on having a big celebration for my daughter this year that would require to hire vendor services but we found out we were going to welcome my 13 year old stepson home for good to Hawaii from Oregon. So I decided why not have a surprise welcoming party along with my daughters 2nd Birthday?! I contacted Maria a few months before the party date. Luckily she was available that night to provide services with them. I worked closely with her through emails and text if needed. Our date had to be changed to the following week and even though she was already booked with two other parties, she was still willing to take me on even though we had some conflicts that we managed to compromise. So grateful for her and her team to go above and beyond to meet our needs and expectations even through all the changes I had requested. The following services I got from them were: Digital Invitation Centerpieces Banner Money box Goody Bags Cardboard Sign Stage Balloons Let me tell you though! Trying to incorporate two themes is harder than trying to plan one theme. But Maria helped me go through ideas and it turned out awesome! We planned a joint TWOdles Minnie Mouse and Slytherin Harry Potter theme that fit well for the kids. There's so many ideas on Pinterest that could help guide your way but when you're indecisive person like me, it helps to have a planner that will help in making your decision. I threw random ideas at Maria and basically took it all into consideration and provided samples of what it'll look like. One thing I've noticed that some comments have been made by other people is that they don't get a response fast enough from them. I understand why they would say that but yet I have experience with this company two years in a row and they are a small business that provides a lot of services so it can be overwhelming. My advice would be to just be patient and if anything, do follow up emails like I did and even text/call them if you want a quicker response. From my experience, even though it may take longer for a response, I know that they're doing their job and will execute whatever request with pride. Their past events that they've done shows talent and impressive work. The end product was worth it. Thank you Maria & Jay for another year of party success and your generosity! :)

I was referred to Maria and Jay from a friend of mine because I was planning my son's 1st birthday party and looking for vendors. I then looked them up on Instagram to see their work and I was blown away! I have never seen balloon art like theirs and it's simply amazing! Very detailed, and extremely creative! I looked at few other companies before checking them out, and I knew once I saw their work that I HAD to have them for my son's 1st birthday party! I contacted Maria via Email about a month or two after my son was born (early I know, but the 1st birthday party planning struggle is real! And if you want certain vendors, you need to touch base w/them early to secure your date!) and she responded after a day or two. The first time I called her she picked up right away! And we were able to discuss my son's "Space Jam" themed party. Our first meeting was to discuss what we wanted for my son's party as far as colors, and what package we wanted to go with. For my son's party, they did the balloon art which included spiral columns, name arch, balloon decorations for the stage, cake table balloons, reception balloons, banner, basketball hoop arch for the entrance, centerpiece's, 3 balloons attached to centerpiece on each table and money box. (Money box was added to the package just two weeks before the party and they were able to accommodate! I am so thankful for that!) Throughout the year working with Maria was awesome, she always responded to my emails and returned my calls. She even accommodated last minute changes my bf wanted to make with the colors (just two weeks before the party) thank you for that!! Our last meeting was to give her our centerpiece items for the clear stuffed balloons and go over last details. The day of the party they were early and ready to go! (our venue was the Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipio and they only give you an hour to set up). The balloon set up was amazing, almost a year working with Maria and to see all our planning come to life paid off! It was a great weight lifted off my shoulders! They make planning a party that much easier! I don't think you'll find another balloon company as creative as Tec Art Ideas! They are such a hard working team! On top of that they do so much more! Just inquire with Maria and she can definitely let you know all that they do. I hope this is not the last time I work with Maria and Jay of Tec Art Ideas Hawaii because they were very professional and creative which shows in their work. Due to…read morethe global pandemic, we were forced to replan our wedding 4 times and finally got the job done 30 months later, during the threat of another lock-down and in the midst of further Mayoral mandates/restrictions, in September 2021. Hau'oli was with us every step of the way and was nothing short of exceptional! When I say she went above and beyond for us, that's a gross understatement. She pivoted with us at every twist and turn, regardless of what crazy, unexpected hurdle was thrown in our path. Literally 2 weeks before our wedding, we had to replan our ceremony and reception AGAIN, at the last minute, due to new restrictions mandated by the Mayor of O'ahu. Hau'oli once again strapped on her boots and led us safely and successfully through the metaphorical jungle, and there was a gorgeous beach wedding/reception on the other side! Not once did she hesitate to adapt with us during out-of-the-box brainstorming sessions-- daily calls (sometimes 3 a day) and running to venues to give us virtual tours while we sat on pins and needles here in NY, consistently providing innovative ideas (to work around roadblocks), and going with whatever we green lit to get it done. And when we finally arrived in O'ahu, she met us at Costco and Target to help us stock up on items we'd need for our after party, which she lugged around for us in her car and delivered after our reception. She did not have to do any of that, but had graciously offered. Yes, we paid her for a service (which, by the way, was a very reasonable price). But this treatment shows just how much she cares about her clients and her business. It's a passion project for her and exemplifies the absolute Spirit of Aloha! We were sad to say goodbye to her after everything was over, feeling like we were saying farewell to a good friend. After we returned to NY, she called to check in on us and see how we were doing, and we were so happy to hear from her! At the end of the day, there are no words sufficient enough to express our gratitude to Hau'oli for all that she's done for us these past 2.5 years. We were strangers to her, but she made us feel like Ohana (family). Thank you so much, 'Oli! Mahalo for everything!
