I'd really never seen anything like this instant connection Sophie has with Kelli, and it made me confident that I had placed my faith in the right trainer. I mean, you know your dog is always right about people, and Sophie was right about Kelli. Since then, Kelli has taught Sophie to be more open with meeting new people (and dogs), to be nice to the mailman, to walk well on a leash. And to boot, she's excellent with phone advice! Anytime an issue pop up I want to make sure I'm dealing with properly, Kelli is able to walk me though it on phone. I would highly recommend K-911 to anyone looking for a dog trainer for literally any issue: she's not only educated and experienced in the matter, but she's quite clearly a natural, which makes working with her a breeze for me and my dog. A few things that went wrong with our board and train:…read more 1. Shauna gave me the wrong Venmo handle which resulted in me sending the deposit to the wrong person. Luckily, they were decent enough to send me back the entire amount ($500) after I tracked them down and sent them a message on Facebook. 2. A one month contract turned into two months. Weekly check-ins and picture updates turned into biweekly, and then none at all. I checked in after month one to see how my dog was doing. Shauna told me she was still "working on confidence." 3. Near the end of her stay, Shauna called to let me know my dog had gotten injured (foxtail) from roaming around their fenced dog area and was at a nearby vet. Fortunately, she paid for the vet fees. I got my dog back with a fresh haircut, a cone of shame, antibiotics, and a foot wound that took a while to heal. 4. My dog was pretty much the same when I got her back. She was still having accidents in the house. She was not able to stay in a crate. At. All. It's been a couple years since training and I yet to see see her more hungry than her first days back from Shauna. New things she learned were how to lay down, sit (we were already working on this though), and how to walk on a leash (without other dogs around). She was still reactive to the same degree. 5. No follow up for the 1:1 session. I knew immediately after getting my dog back that I did not want to continue training with Shauna. It seems like the feeling was mutual as she never reached out to me to do the 1:1 session promised in the boarding package. Considering what I paid ($2300), I expected more. Two stars for transporting my dog and how she handled the foxtail fiasco. My dog was only 9 months old and needed basic training with some minor behavior modification. I did my part as an owner to exercise and train her at home for months before sending her off. I was really optimistic about her training potential in Shauna's hands, especially at a young age for an intelligent breed (poodle mix). Lesson learned. Albeit, a very expensive one.

Vader (our pup) was a quick learner and we started the structure at home, but we wanted to help him out with extra training. So we reached out to Prestige K9, and the response was very quick and the phone call to discuss what we wanted out of training was refreshing. We had him boarded over Christmas and new years, even with the holidays the results show - Vader is very attentive, listens to his commands, and is still the fun field lab we dropped off! All of our friends and family are impressed, and we are now those dog owners where people ask "how did you do that" - prestige did it! Do note you still have to keep doing the stuff at home in your routine, but we are very impressed and I would like to note Javier and especially Ally for how well they worked with Vader. We did our first follow up with ally and she is great, she brought out her dog to help Vader train with distractions and they got to play a little. This is where you want to take your dog people! They have explained that their communication system will be updated and they have re-trained newer staff. They even refunded the cost of my vet bill to get my dog's injured paw looked at. I believe Prestige truly cares about their customers and dogs, and once changes are implemented, they will be a great boarding facility. I think K-9 Prestige has the potential to be good, but they really need to improve their communication and staff training. The initial phone call with Chelsea was positive and fairly informative about the boarding process. I called a week later to officially confirm the booking, and instead of having someone call me back to confirm over the phone, they sent me a text with a link to confirm the booking and pay the $100 deposit. I could've (and in hindsight, I should've) called again to get more information and ask more questions before officially confirming, but I had faith in the high reviews so I figured it would be okay. Three weeks later, I dropped my dog off in the evening. The man who greeted me didn't ask me any questions about my dog except for how much food he eats and if I wanted him to be walked around the property every day. I asked if that was an additional charge, and he told me it was not. I also mentioned that my dog could not get his ears wet during the bath at the end of the stay due to ear infection medicine, and the man told me that he would put it in the notes. He then proceeded to leash my dog and start walking him to the back room. I had to ask, "Is that it?" because he couldn't possibly just be walking away from me with no further information about my dog's five-day stay with them. At this point I had major red flags, but I was leaving on a trip the next day and really needed a place for my dog to stay. So once again, I figured I would have faith in the high reviews and trust that my dog would be safe with this company. Three days before I picked my dog up, I called to confirm that it was indeed put in the notes that my dog could not get his ears wet during the bath. When I called, no one answered the phone, and they didn't have a voicemail claiming to be Prestige K-9 (it was a generic voicemail message). I thought this was weird, so I didn't leave a message and figured I would try again in an hour or so. A little bit later, I got a text from the same number asking if I had reached anyone or if I still needed help. A text in response to a phone call is not really professional in my opinion, but I texted back in case they did not have someone readily available at all times to answer phone calls. When I brought up the fact that my dog could not get his ears wet, no one had any idea about this. They assured me it would be put in the notes this time. I also asked for an update to see how my dog was doing because he's a very nervous puppy and I think it's fair for a dog owner to want to know how their beloved pet is doing away from home. I was told that a message would be sent to the care team and that I would hear back from them. This was very strange, as I expected a direct line to the people who were actively taking care of my dog. Two days went by and I heard nothing. The morning I picked up my dog, I called early to triple check that he would not get his ears wet during the bath, and luckily this time they were aware. When I picked up my dog, I found out that the daily walks are actually an additional charge and that my dog was not walked, nor let out of the kennel run, the entire five days he stayed there. They also let me know he got a cut on one of his paws (which I later found out upon inspection was actually two separate cuts on two different toes). I understand injuries can happen with nervous dogs when staying in new places, but they didn't seem to do anything about the cuts and they were still bleeding a lot when I picked him up. They also wanted me to pay before I even saw my dog, which was ridiculous considering they couldn't give me any update on my dog's well being over the previous three days. The handle on the food scoop we left with his food also came back broken, which is not a big deal; it just adds fuel to my irritation with this whole experience. The team I checked out with were apologetic and professional, claiming they were having issues with their communication system between the office and the caretaking team and that the employee I checked in with was new. But when I'm putting my dog's life in the hands of strangers, technology issues and poor employee training CANNOT be an excuse for bad communication and misinformation. I believe the employees here do care about dogs, but until this company gets their act together, I will absolutely not be taking my dog back here.

The biggest problem was that she was chasing our cats everywhere around the house and had terrible manners. He patiently listened and answered several questions, then explained he offers two programs; a month board and train or virtual training with Zoom session checkpoints. Although it was an investment, we opted for the board and train for Amber. At the same time, we did the virtual training for our other dog Ginger, a golden retriever. While Blair worked one on one with Amber at his house, we went through the online modules in the virtual program. The program is very detailed, including videos and narratives for each section. Blair was readily available for any questions or concerns we had along the way. The program does use an e-collar and we were initially apprehensive, but once we understood this was simply a tool to get our dog's attention and tried it on ourselves, it was not an issue. We did the work, learned a ton from Blair, and made a friend for life, but most importantly, Amber came back behaving like a different dog and the training worked! There were a few cuties that I could see potentially growing into a serious relationship. So I sold myself as much as I could on their online form and waited anxiously for them to respond. 3 days wait is the general rule before calling right? I decided to take my little man with me to see if I had his approval before cheating on him with another lifelong commitment. The place was a bit out in the boonies and looks like someone turned their barn-home into a rescue shelter. But Kritter Kamp is a no-kill rescue place so it's worth the drive. The place is a bit overwhelming with tons of little guys yapping away inside the building. But I was just glad that they were kept INSIDE the building and not in outdoor kennels. I was surprised to see they offer boarding and grooming services as well. They have a grassy fenced off play-area where I was introduced to my list of potential suitors. My little man wasn't interested in being compatible with any of them and they seem to not care as well. He was more interested in sniffing the grass than sniffing their butts. After I exhausted my list of potentials without even coming close to a match, one of the KK staff said she noticed that I had a type- I like 'em hairy! She told me she'd bring out a new one they just recently rescued from the Sac shelter. Out comes "Cha-Cha", a white furball with mattes all over her feet. She was so friendly, coming up to me all wiggly-butt and waggy. And she loved my little man, following him around everywhere! I originally didn't want to swing that way and wanted males only, but she was such a sweetheart and it just felt right. The heart doesn't lie, ya'll. Turns out she had only been at Kritter Kamp for 2 days and they hadn't even gotten a chance to fully groom her yet or socialize her. She only trusted Betty. I could tell the KK staff really cares about animals by how they handled the dogs and how they grilled me with questions before allowing me to bring her home. But I was able to take her home the same day with a $200 adoption fee to cover for her shots and spay. She hadn't even gotten spayed yet, but the ladies at KK assured me they would call me to set up an appointment with SPCA to have her spayed. Sure enough, a few days later, I dropped her back at KK and they had her spayed and returned within a day with all the paperwork. And despite the many dogs at KK and how little time they had to make her all pretty and adoptable, she came home without fleas! Now that says a lot about the place. Two years later and then-Cha-Cha-but-now-Lola has proven to be one of the best life choices I've made. She fits so well with the family. So if you find that Match.com ain't matching so well, go adopt and you'll find a devoted partner who'll love you unconditionally. You save them, they save you. What a wonderful thing.

We reviewed online and even went to some in person. One we skipped because play time included wayyy too many dogs (big & small) and the conditions just looked awful.
