    It's a lengthy review, but please take the time to read and don't even consider another trainer. My review alone won't do her training program justice, but it's all I can offer as a thank you at this point! If you want a personal reference, feel free to message me on Yelp! My fiance and I decided it was time to add to our family and get a dog. She grew up with a very unique breed (Redbone Coonhound) as a child. Her dog was her best friend and it would have taken an act of God to get her to happily choose another breed. What we didn't consider, was that she grew up on 30 acres in the country and we lived in the suburbs. What we didn't even realize, was that Redbone Coonhounds are extremely intelligent dogs. And as loving as she remembered them to be, they're working dogs and working dogs need a job. Enter Chili, our crazy (possibly possessed) and "energetic" 8 week old Redbone Coonhound all the way from Virginia. For the first two months of this journey we were totally dominated by Chili. We couldn't pet her or she would bite us. Not the typical puppy "nibbling", but real aggressive biting. We couldn't crate her because she would bey all night long and never stop. We tried to move her from the crate into an X-Pen near us, but at 10 weeks old she was smart enough to climb out of the pen and run off. We felt like this was the biggest mistake we had ever made. We aren't the type to give up easily, but after over two months we still weren't sleeping, we were stressed and felt completely hopeless. We paid for and consulted with a few trainers locally and none of their suggestions worked. In fact, it was almost as if Chili was laughing in our faces any time we tried to enforce rules. Our 20lbs puppy was in charge and we all knew it. We finally gave up and found someone in the bay area through family that had lots of land and was willing to take Chili. Literally 48 hours prior to her departure, we were contacted by Eleza at Paws in Progress. We had attempted to touch base with her during our previous training search, but with our hectic schedules we could never connect. Eleza listened to our struggles and offered a few last chance suggestions. What differentiated her from the other trainers, is that she didn't seem phased by Chili's behavior and in fact seemed intrigued. This lady must be nuts we thought, but at this point what did we have to lose, right? Ironically, she had a board and train dog that went into heat last minute and couldn't join her program. She offered us the available training spot and told us to think it over for the evening. We tried her few suggestions that night and to our surprise, Chili responded to them. For the first time in 2.5 months, we felt hopeful and decided to commit to Eleza. A three week board and train at Eleza's home and six month's later of her intense (in a good way) training program and Chili has been officially transformed into a different dog! Eleza not only helped Chili, but she helped us. Although she occasionally tests the waters to verify, Chili is no longer in charge and her obedience training has been a complete blessing for us. We get compliments (no exaggeration) about how well behaved she is nearly every single time we're out in public. People jokingly ask me if I can train their dog when I pass them on trails. We can actually take her to dinner and she will simply lay down next to us and hang out. Eleza has even helped us get Chili to a point where she is completely off leash. If you know anything about hounds, you know the prospect of letting them go without a leash is not even considered. But because of Eleza's training methods, there's very little we CAN'T do with Chili. Her program is so different from others we consulted with. She tailor fits the program to YOUR dog, instead of offering some cookie cutter version that she believes will apply to everyone. She understands that not all dogs are created equal and that each one requires very unique training. She gives you so much one-on-one time and challenges you to improve yourself and your dog. I think the biggest testament to Eleza, isn't that the dogs listen to her, but that the owners listen to her! LOL! We're all always on our best behavior when Eleza is around and the dogs are too. Every single dog in her program loves her and I'm very certain Chili would choose her Auntie Eleza over us in a second if given the chance! All I can say is, if you're feeling overwhelmed (no matter what your specific hurdle is) you need to call Eleza. I've seen so many different "issues" clients are working on and we all agree we wouldn't be where we are without her. From personal in home training to weekend pack walks, there's no one out there that offers what she does. Before that, we enjoyed dog parks and meeting other dogs and their owners on our daily walks. She became aggressive during puberty. The Vet said let's wait to see what happens after the spay. Jade got more aggressive, not less. Desiree is a dog whisperer. When we met at our consultation, Desire walked into my backyard, and Jade snarled and bounded across toward her. I almost fainted watching my huge dog running toward her. Desiree did her trainer thing, and Jade completely relaxed. I watched Jade become putty in her hands within minutes, and I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. The training was detailed and extensive. My dog responds to me when I call her with a quiet "hey" when she starts to play with my cats or go towards the kitchen. She places in the house even when guests arrive, or someone rings the doorbell. Her PICA (eating non-food items) is almost completely gone. ( Jade is s/p a life-threatening bowel obstruction after eating a towel) She went to the dog park and played with a Golden until her energy was spent a few days ago. I can play with her off-leash and have confidence in my abilities to communicate with her. A couple of weeks after the training, Jade all of sudden began to be triggered by the satellite dishes and telephone polls on our walks. Well, you can imagine how difficult it became with aggressive barking and then refusal to move. I called Desiree, and she drove the 20 miles to my house immediately. She offered some recommendations, which I applied right away and I could see that the initial onslaught of fear dissipated over a couple of weeks. Desiree is professional, prompt, clear, and is phenomenal with dogs. It's been 8 months since training and Jade is an amazing companion. Thank you, Desiree

Vader (our pup) was a quick learner and we started the structure at home, but we wanted to help him out with extra training. So we reached out to Prestige K9, and the response was very quick and the phone call to discuss what we wanted out of training was refreshing. We had him boarded over Christmas and new years, even with the holidays the results show - Vader is very attentive, listens to his commands, and is still the fun field lab we dropped off! All of our friends and family are impressed, and we are now those dog owners where people ask "how did you do that" - prestige did it! Do note you still have to keep doing the stuff at home in your routine, but we are very impressed and I would like to note Javier and especially Ally for how well they worked with Vader. We did our first follow up with ally and she is great, she brought out her dog to help Vader train with distractions and they got to play a little. This is where you want to take your dog people! They have explained that their communication system will be updated and they have re-trained newer staff. They even refunded the cost of my vet bill to get my dog's injured paw looked at. I believe Prestige truly cares about their customers and dogs, and once changes are implemented, they will be a great boarding facility. I think K-9 Prestige has the potential to be good, but they really need to improve their communication and staff training. The initial phone call with Chelsea was positive and fairly informative about the boarding process. I called a week later to officially confirm the booking, and instead of having someone call me back to confirm over the phone, they sent me a text with a link to confirm the booking and pay the $100 deposit. I could've (and in hindsight, I should've) called again to get more information and ask more questions before officially confirming, but I had faith in the high reviews so I figured it would be okay. Three weeks later, I dropped my dog off in the evening. The man who greeted me didn't ask me any questions about my dog except for how much food he eats and if I wanted him to be walked around the property every day. I asked if that was an additional charge, and he told me it was not. I also mentioned that my dog could not get his ears wet during the bath at the end of the stay due to ear infection medicine, and the man told me that he would put it in the notes. He then proceeded to leash my dog and start walking him to the back room. I had to ask, "Is that it?" because he couldn't possibly just be walking away from me with no further information about my dog's five-day stay with them. At this point I had major red flags, but I was leaving on a trip the next day and really needed a place for my dog to stay. So once again, I figured I would have faith in the high reviews and trust that my dog would be safe with this company. Three days before I picked my dog up, I called to confirm that it was indeed put in the notes that my dog could not get his ears wet during the bath. When I called, no one answered the phone, and they didn't have a voicemail claiming to be Prestige K-9 (it was a generic voicemail message). I thought this was weird, so I didn't leave a message and figured I would try again in an hour or so. A little bit later, I got a text from the same number asking if I had reached anyone or if I still needed help. A text in response to a phone call is not really professional in my opinion, but I texted back in case they did not have someone readily available at all times to answer phone calls. When I brought up the fact that my dog could not get his ears wet, no one had any idea about this. They assured me it would be put in the notes this time. I also asked for an update to see how my dog was doing because he's a very nervous puppy and I think it's fair for a dog owner to want to know how their beloved pet is doing away from home. I was told that a message would be sent to the care team and that I would hear back from them. This was very strange, as I expected a direct line to the people who were actively taking care of my dog. Two days went by and I heard nothing. The morning I picked up my dog, I called early to triple check that he would not get his ears wet during the bath, and luckily this time they were aware. When I picked up my dog, I found out that the daily walks are actually an additional charge and that my dog was not walked, nor let out of the kennel run, the entire five days he stayed there. They also let me know he got a cut on one of his paws (which I later found out upon inspection was actually two separate cuts on two different toes). I understand injuries can happen with nervous dogs when staying in new places, but they didn't seem to do anything about the cuts and they were still bleeding a lot when I picked him up. They also wanted me to pay before I even saw my dog, which was ridiculous considering they couldn't give me any update on my dog's well being over the previous three days. The handle on the food scoop we left with his food also came back broken, which is not a big deal; it just adds fuel to my irritation with this whole experience. The team I checked out with were apologetic and professional, claiming they were having issues with their communication system between the office and the caretaking team and that the employee I checked in with was new. But when I'm putting my dog's life in the hands of strangers, technology issues and poor employee training CANNOT be an excuse for bad communication and misinformation. I believe the employees here do care about dogs, but until this company gets their act together, I will absolutely not be taking my dog back here.

However, I realized almost immediately that she had some serious behavioral issues--specifically intense leash aggression and barking--that I simply wasn't equipped to handle alone. After researching local options, I gave Bill at Sierra K9 a call. It was clear right away that he has a genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my specific goals: I needed Sky to truly become part of my "pack" and be well-behaved enough to join me at breweries, and events. Bill outlined his methods and experience in great detail, and we sat down to map out exactly what it would take to get her there. I opted for the two-week intensive Board-and-Train program. Bill made it clear that the training wouldn't end when I picked her up; he committed to meeting with me for as long as it took for me to feel confident. Throughout those two weeks, Bill and his wife, Shelby, sent regular progress reports, photos, and videos. Seeing her thrive gave me so much peace of mind--it was obvious she was making strides and was incredibly well cared for. On pickup day, Bill and I had a thorough hand-off session. While I was impressed with Sky's progress, Bill was honest with me: the foundation was there, but the real work was just beginning for both of us. When we got back home, I'll admit I struggled. The leash reactivity and pulling returned, and I felt completely hopeless. But Bill and Shelby didn't leave me hanging. They checked in daily, "talked me off the ledge" more than once, and quickly scheduled an in-person session at my house. When Bill arrived, he could tell I was frustrated. He calmly reminded me of the process and took Sky's leash; she immediately "snapped back into shape"--no pulling, no barking, just focus. He carefully observed my handling, gave me manageable homework, and, most importantly, helped me reframe my mindset. He taught me that training isn't a chore; it's an exercise in patience and a form of therapy for both the owner and the dog. Fast forward one month: I've been working with Sky every day and meeting with Bill weekly (and he is always perfectly on time). The transformation is night and day. While she's still a little better on the leash with him than with me (haha!), she is truly a different dog. I know now that with time and Bill's continued guidance, Sky is going to fit in perfectly. I'm actually enjoying the work, we celebrate the wins together, and I am sincerely grateful to the Sierra K9 team.

Bill was patient, knowledgeable, and very understanding of how overwhelming it felt. Bill took the time to assess each dog's behavior and explained everything in a way that made sense. The training methods were clear, consistent, and focused on building trust rather than fear. Over time, I started to see real progress, not just in my dogs' behavior, but in my own confidence handling them. Thanks to Bill's guidance, my dogs are now able to coexist peacefully, and the atmosphere at home is so much calmer. I'm truly grateful for his help and would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with similar issues.
