I got engaged in July and time is flying fast as the wedding countdown is on. I work downtown and while I was outside on lunch on 12/13/21, I just so happened to see a holiday sale sign at this jeweler establishment and decided on a whim, to stop in and look at the men's wedding bands. I was greeted by Diamond, who asked me to sign in and after me inquiring, explained this is so that if anyone comes in contact with someone who contracts Covid-19, they have customer information should they need to contact due to possible exposure. I thought that these are good guidelines to have. I then told her what I was looking for and she guided me over to the wedding bands. They have all kinds of really nice styles from simple to bling bling! Diamond was very nice and helpful and Roselyn also came by to give assistance and personal opinion which I really needed because there were several rings I liked - note, this wedding band will be a surprise Christmas gift for my fiancee. I was finally able to narrow it down to 2 rings. I really needed to get back to work as I had been there longer than planned. It was my intention to come back after work that day to decide which ring I wanted to purchase but due to work constraints I wasn't able to get back and it was the last day of that sale. Antoine and Danielle are amazing! They both helped us save thousands of dollars without having to settle on the rings and watches we wanted. During my first visit I worked with Antoine. He was extremely patient and helped us pick out our wedding bands. He did not seem bothered by both my fiancé and I equally pulling out potential rings we wanted to try on. He gave us great feedback and helped us learn about the future discounts we scored for our next purchase. I was able to pick up my ring during our first visit because I was the model size. My fiancé had to wait because he needed a different size which meant we would have to come back. But Antoine made sure he notated the ring paper so we could take advantage of all the future discounts. Today I stopped by the store to pick up the ring as well as the watches we planned on getting. This is when I was introduced to Danielle who was equally as amazing as Antoine. She was able to find the notes Antoine left which made the process 10xs faster. She was able to apply the discounts to the new purchase and helped me determine which watch was a little more affordable. I am genuinely happy that I stumbled upon Kay during a random ring stopping trip. I would normally not think of going to a franchise type jewelry store but I was pleasantly surprised. I bought my fiancee's engagement ring from this location years ago. Everything went well the first time so I decided to try my luck here again as I looked forward to finally getting married this past summer. The associate was courteous, friendly and upsold me on a ring for myself (which I am fine with, it comes with the job) under the pretenses I could finance the ring with zero interest for 12 months. I got the ring and got married. Everything was fine until I recieved the credit card statement a month later. I had specifically communicated with the associate that I was fine opting with the higher end option as long as I would recieve the special fianancing...only to see I was being charged interest. My wife has called the store, spoken with the manager and they have accepted responsibility and have communicated they are working on the issue. It has been 3 months. My wife has communicated directly with the bank in hopes to fix the situation. Up until now, I am being charged interest and will probably end up paying the full amount in efforts to avoid paying interest. Its a shame since I thought the interaction went well, the gentleman was very personable. Unfortunately the associate and the store have not held they're end of the bargain. read more

Long story short - Julie is AMAZING. I love this location solely for Julie and only ever want Julie. I hope she gets all the things she wants in life. Long story written: I have a mixed review. When I first entered an older lady, whose name I did not get, tried helping me in sending in my wedding band and engagement ring to be welded together - but I did not have all of my paperwork. She asked if I had any receipts and what not, but I did not assuming she would be able to look up my information like a prior employee has. When I asked "Are you able to look it up?" she literally responded " But I don't want to look it up..". WHAT?! So after that moment I spotted the other employee (named Julie) who was able to look up my information before and figured I would just pass time with the old lady who gave horrible customer service until I could get Julie's attention. I didn't bother giving old lady trouble because I didn't want to be a problem customer while I still needed assistance. So fast forward to when Julie could help me - I explained to her I had seen her before and she was the only one who could locate my information (since I had purchased things at different Kay stores) and that I needed her magic since others couldn't help. I didn't bother explaining about my annoying conversation with old lady minutes before. After her research, Julie definitely was most helpful in providing all the records I needed on my purchases in order to send my rings in for work. We popped in right before closing and were pleasantly surprised..they not only had what we were looking for but they had amazing customer service as well. David helped up and was terrific. In my stage of life I am not yet able to buy $1000+ jewelry. I was looking for a gift for my wife under $100. After several visits to Kay I got the silent impression of impatience and pressure to spend more money, as well as lack of any assurance that I am a valued customer. That was true of 2 of 3 people who helped me during 2 separate visits. I stated my price range very clearly on my first visit. Even though Kay has many items under $100 I was repeatedly handed jewelry just over my price range with little apparent sympathy toward my unwillingness to consider these items. There was a lot of awkward silence. Quite a bit later I finally did settle on an item. The person who helped me was much kinder, however I was asked over 3 times to make a charity donation after I clearly said no (did you ever consider someone might be giving what they can afford already to several other causes?). My wife loves the necklace, but the chain was a little short and it was tarnished. I returned to ask about the chain and getting a replacement. Once again they were not up front and clear that I would have to simply pay full price for a new chain. After the salesperson showed me some chains I had to ask if I would have to pay, to which I received a rather shocked reply of yes. There was zero affirmation or apology. They did clean it for free, but at my own suggestion. I am sad when people do not understand the value of charitable customer service. I got the worst feeling of commission-based sales here. When I am able to afford expensive jewelry later in my life I will probably never consider any Kay store again. read more

I bought $2k diamonds. I don't think their service level ( from watching jewelry to end to pick up) are not worth paying at this store. They don't keep "promise day to pick up" and push me to purchase $2k Ken after 5min watching. Other store as well. RACIST COMMENTS FROM STORE MANAGER. This is my 1st review on YELP, to that matter this is my 1st ever review on any social media platform about someone being RACIST in the year 2018. Back in October 2017, me and my wife decided to visit this store to buy us a wedding ring/band for our wedding. We ended up buying a Leo Diamond ring worth more than $3k for her and $700 worth white gold band for myself. I wore it for 4-5 months and then I started to have an allergic reaction on my ring finger. That is when I went back to the store to talk to DAVID (Store Manager) to get it exchanged with a Platinum band (although he suggested me to get a yellow gold band). He promised me to get it exchanged with the full refund from my previous band along with the rewards of $200 (which I used on my previous band purchase) PLUS 30% discount (which was current offer going at the time in store) on the new band PLUS some extra $$ off on the new ring (As a courtesy from KAY Jewelers because of my allergic reaction which I never asked for). The day when I went to pick up my Platinum band that I ordered, he was unable to provide whatever the discounts he promised on the bill. He himself was confused on why the system wasn't allowing him to do so. Instead of explaining me the situation about why the system wasn't allowing him, he started racist comments categorizing we Indians as "YOU ALL GUYS HAVE THIS IN YOUR CULTURE. YOU GUYS ALWAYS TRY TO GET DOWN THE PRICE NO MATTER WHAT". That is when his colleague intervened and escorted him out of the situation, and then another employee explained me about what is happening with system and why they couldn't provide me what her manager had promised. I couldn't take it anymore and just returned my old band (knowing I would lose $200 rewards) and I left the store. This is my 1st racist experience in 4 years in America. I was just asking the store manager what we talked before exchanging my old band with new Platinum band and being a store manager he was not in a state to explain me clearly what was happening. We all are working hard to earn every single penny and I think we have every right to ask for the best price on the money we are spending. If it is not possible then just say it rather than making RACIST comments. read more

I walked into this store this weekend to see if they could move a sizer from one of my rings to my wedding ring. The jeweler did it while I waited and would not take any payment. He then found another sizer for my original ring, again put it on free of charge and didn't charge me for the sizer. Wonderful customer service, very friendly, I would highly recommend this store. read more

Had absolutely wonderful service from Store Manager David B. Naster this afternoon. I brought in a very tarnished brass necklace. Not from Kay. I was a zero revenue opportunity person. He cheerfully placed my necklace into their ultrasonic (?) cleaner and removed years of tarnish. Then he went in the back and polished it until it gleamed like new! And he and his staff were absolutely delightful with me, who represented zero revenue opportunity. And then he cheerfully cleaned my diamond rings. I wanted a particular one.The one I normally go to didn't have it but told me that the one downtown do. So called them in the morning to see if they still had it. The woman that answered the phone was rude right off the back. First she said that she couldn't find it because I didn't have the sku number. Wednesday I brought my high end watch in for a new battery to the Loop location. I was told by an older salesperson (Maggie) that it would cost $25 and that it would be 15-20 minutes wait and I had no problem with that. So while I perused the store Maggie tried to get me to buy something and kept telling me about their special upcoming event where you can have diamonds set while you wait.. really? - I was her to get a new battery in my watch !! 30 minutes later the Manager David came out and says to me "I have good news and bad news" I installed a new battery that I won't charge you for, but I cannot get the disc plate back onto your watch. I suggest you take it to this guy at Jewelers Row and he'll have the right tool for this" - at this point I look at my watch and the crystal at the 6-hour is floating so I say "well it seems now my crystal has come out because you pounded so hard on the back to get the disc back on" . This rude salesperson Maggie tells me it must have been that way when I brought it in. I look at her and say NO IT WAS NOT. David agrees and says no problem he will fix it". So as I'm now standing around for another 20 minutes, while this older salesperson Maggie is saying stuff like "well it was an accident and at least you're getting a free battery..... ???? " He finally comes out with the watch and he gives me this specialty watch guy's card at Jewelers Row.. Well I would have rather paid $25 for the battery and gotten my watch back safe and sound...so I'm a bit peeved but not super upset. Until today....Today is Friday and I brought my watch to this nice guy at Jeweler's Row. He looks at the back and tells me it is super scratched up and dented and that David did this while trying to get the disc back on. I am now going to have to leave it with him because now the back needs polished around the edges of where the disc goes back in - it is so badly scratched and dented and crooked that it will not stay in. He shows me the back of my watch. I take a few close up pictures. By this time I am really PEEVED. I leave the Jewelers' Row watch guy (who I can tell felt really bad about the whole thing) and go back into Kay Jewelers and wait until David is free then I tell him my story. He does not seem sorry in the least bit. Very arrogant. He says I should give the watch to him and he will send it to his specialty guy - I say already left it with the Jeweler's Row expert. I ask him for his business card and he gives me one and says "if you're going to contact the Home Office I'll just tell them you refused to let me get it fixed by my own guy". I respond "well since you knew you f'd my watch up in the first place, why did you want to send me to someone else? You knew exactly what you did to my watch and were trying to hide it". Then I just left. I will write a letter to Kay's customer service. But considering all their bad reviews on this site and many others, I may not even get a response.
