Sold me the wrong watch strap, possibly a fake one. You can see that it has the wrong number of holes (and it doesn't fit) compared to the image on the website. Spoke to Vlad on the phone and he says, "how do I even know you got the strap from us"? Didn't offer to pay for shipping back. So with the trust already broken and you sending me a fake strap, no, Vlad, I'm not going to send it back to you on my own dime and trust that you will correctly determine that it was you that sent it to me. So, crappy customer service in addition to fraudulent operations, or at least poor quality control. They need a 0 stars option for that. You should be ashamed! read more

I came to Legend of Time rather purposefully as they happen to be the only Junghans authorized dealer anywhere near central Illinois. I drove 2 hours from home to visit the store to find they were only taking appointments on the weekend. Despite the short notice, Mark answered my call and drove an hour out of his way on a weekend to come work with me. When he arrived, he was very friendly and had great hospitality. He grabbed my mother and I water and coffee, took care to listen to exactly what we were looking for, and brought out all of his options for me to see. He helped me make the exact right choice on a Max Bill. I cannot speak much to his inventory outside of Junghans; that is all I was interested in while I was there. That being said, it seemed like he had a good selection. He is price competitive, attentive to customer satisfaction, and has a great sense of humor. I am about a year late writing this review, but I had an exceptional experience with Legend of Time. They fixed my father's Movado automatic from the 1970s, and did a really excellent job. They had to order parts because it was small and old, but they made the watch work perfectly again. No longer. Automatic watches are awesome. Since I wrote the story, I've started my own collection. I've been back to Legend of Time more than once to browse. They have a good collection of nice Swiss watches for sale. I almost pulled the trigger on a Navitimer that was juuuuust above my budget, and now kinda wish I had. A final detail I want to include in this review is that the employees/owners are kind, reasonable people, and something I saw during one visit to browse really drove this home for me. An obviously homeless guy wandered up to the shop, slurring, stinky, and weird looking. He said he wanted to know about a Cartier watch in the window. The employees could have been like: "It's more that you can afford, stinky homeless guy, get out or we call the police." And nobody would have bat an eye. But instead, the employees treated the poor man like he was human. They got the watch out of the window and showed it to him briefly and told him the price. The man nodded and left. Though it was a total waste of their time, the employees treated the guy reasonably. Five stars. read more

I wanted a Panerai for quite a while so I began looking about a year this time. I looked at quite a few stores on line in addition to a few brick and mortar stores. I came across Legend of Time after a google search on Panerai Chicago and saw the wonderful reviews on Yelp, so I decided to stop in. I met Mark and the reviewes were on point. Friendly, knowledgeable, etc. I decided to buy a new Panerai 312 from Legend of Time. Mark matched the price of an online competitor and I was happy to have the watch I wanted! I received it and it looked great. Mark walked me through how to wind the watch, change the straps, general care, etc. Again, everything was great. Until a month later. After a month, the minute and second hand moved, but the date would not change. Upon seeing this I pulled out the knob, advanced to the correct date and everything was fine. Until a few weeks later when it happened again. I decided to take the watch back to Legend of Time. Mark took a look at the watch and asked me if I wound the watch between 11:00 pm, and 3:00 am, when it is performing the date change function. (He told me when I purchased the watch not to do this, to which I took note). I told him I had, which I was lectured about. (I will come back to this point later in the story). Mark took a look at the watch and said that everything seemed in working order, so I took the watch back home and was happy again for a few more weeks. Until the same thing happened. I returned to the store spoke with Mark again and explained the date function was not working and was again lectured on not changing the date between those hours listed above. I explained that I didn't change the time at all and only wore the watch. This time he kept the watch so that the 'watch maker' could take a look at it to see if there was anything wrong with the watch. After a week or so, I picked the watch up and was told it was fine. They did not find any of the issues I had noted, so I took the watch home again. Before I left, I asked Mark what should I do if the issue happens again. He told me to gently pull out the knob and set the appropriate date and time, which is exactly what I did when I had the initial issue with the watch.(back to my earlier point) After about a month I had the same issue again, and I asked if they would send the watch back to Panerai, since it has a two year warranty. This time Mark was not present, so I left the watch with an associate of Mark's and was told Mark would call me to discuss the details. I waited a few days and received no call from Mark. When I called him he told me the watch was sent out and would take 6-8 weeks to get it back since it was sent back to Panerai. After about six weeks, I received the watch and I asked Mark what was the issue, and he told me it just need a few minor adjustments. I said okay, took the watch home and thought the issue was resolved. A week later the problem occured yet again and I took it back to the store. Mark asks me again did I wind the watch durint the 11 pm - 3 am time frame to which I replied no. He asked what did I want to do at this point, and said they could send it out. That response took me by surprise since he told me they sent it out the last time. I told him I wanted a new watch as there is certainly wrong with that one. Which brings me to today. The last time I was in the shop was a week after Christmas and was told it may take a while to get a replacement as this is a popular model. Mark explained he would check with other stores and see what he could find, and he also told me of a watch show in Vegas in January as well as one in Miami February where he hoped to have some luck in finding a replacement. He could not make the January show due to bad weather here in Chicago and just got back from the February show which is what prompted me to write a review. I called him yesterday morning and he told me he would call me back once they have unpacked their merchandise from the show. Needless to say he did not call. This has been going on for quite a while now and it's been very frustrating to say the least. Each time there has been an issue, I have had to reach out. If I don't call I don't hear from Mark. As someone who works in professional services I find this unacceptable. If you buy from Legend and your timepeice has no issues then I assume you will have one of the stellar experiences that other Yelper's have had. If you have issues, you may get the other end of the spectrum as I feel I have. read more

I am not a serious watch collector, I buy only what I can wear and when my friend offered me to go DT to Legend of Time, I was still recovering from my recent shopping experience at CD P. at the Northbrook Court, where sales people made me feel uncomfortable and intimidated. But Legend of Time ROCKED! I spoke with Mark and he suggested a pair which i loved and purchased next week from my office! The point was to buy a piece that will not loose it's value like a used car - but a special watch that has collector value. All of this at 25% -30% off retail stores! I've been keeping my grandmothers vintage watch in a box for a very long time...it was pretty but broken and not in wearable condition. It was important to me to get it fixed and looking great so I can wear it! I could not be happier with the job that Mark has done! I traveled over an hour to look at their amazing selection from their website. Their website claims they have Rolex Batman, James Cameron, Yachmaster, Pepsi "in-stock" when in fact they don't. When I asked the worker about them he said "we sold them awhile ago...", and I said "why are they on your website?" He didn't know and didn't apologize. What would happen if I added on of the watches to my cart and purchased? This was over a week ago and they still have the same watches on their website! Why don't they take them off if they don't have them in stock? Because they are luring folks to their store (like me) - that will be upset after the visit (and give a negative review). read more

Please avoid for watch repairs. Dropped of my watch to be repaired and was promised a quick turn around and would come back perfect. Well they fixed one thing but damaged another, three times. Each time I pointed out the damage I was told they don't see it and called me a liar, they were rude and unprofessional. After a couple of months I got my watch back and its still not perfect but I was afraid of what else they would do to it if I left it for another repair. I know they use an outside watchmaker but the forbade me from talking to him directly and they just pretended not to see the damage. They also argued that nicks and scratches on a newly polished watch were insignificant and not damaged. Please use anyone else, they might quote you a lower price but you will end up paying more in the end. read more

Nothing beats trying the watch on in the store and letting the guy personally fit it to your wrist which is the kind of service you won't get off Ebay - plus the prices are better.
