Stay away from this place if you are a customer they'll do anything to earn your business, they'll sell you a cheap diamond. ring and will appraise it triple the price once you want to upgrade or sell it back to them. they will tell you it's not worth anything and they won't even have the cash to buy it from you. I was so disappointed from them. My whole family been buying diamonds from them for years because they give away good prices, but I found out recently come to sell that ring. It's worth nothing they won't even buy their own diamond back for half the price because they know it's crap. lesson learn please stay away. read more

My husband bought my engagement ring here 2 years ago and I bought my wedding ring here last year. I remember being confused about why the casting for my wedding band took so long (like 2 months) but chalked it up to them being perfectionists because my ring was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Almost exactly a year from my wedding, I removed my rings to play golf and noticed a profound crack in my wedding band (see photo). It's cracked in two places, causing a piece to kind of stick out. I brought it into a local jeweler (since I've moved away from Chicago) and they said it was a clear-cut example of "brittle casting." They said in 40 years, they've never seen this happen with platinum. The ring needs to be COMPLETELY REMADE in order to prevent further cracks. Luckily, I have great insurance (Jewelers Mutual) and I think all of this will be covered. I'm stunned that this happened and nervous about my engagement ring now. I highly recommend Diamonds on Wabash, specifically Iliana. When we were engagement ring shopping, this was the only store that had designs that I liked. (I was only looking at halo designs with a round center diamond.) Not to mention, they are extremely negotiable, will match competitors' prices, and will resize/clean/detail for free. Went in to purchase diamond earrings. At the time, (and currently) Diamonds on Wabash was running the following promotion at the top of their Yelp page (which I printed out and took into the store with me): "Announcement Just came back from a buying trip.Come in and see whats new and recieve 25% off of retail. excludes chamilia charms." She quoted me a price, but when I asked about the discount, she said it didn't apply. She first said that the ad was old, but then she back-tracked and said she already discounts diamonds, so she couldn't add an additional discount. She said she was in the middle of a sea of jewelers, so if she didn't provide rock-bottom prices, she would get undercut. You would have thought that for a store called "Diamonds on Wabash," the Yelp ad would have mentioned that the discount doesn't apply to diamonds. So, I took her up on her offer and went next door (literally) to a place called CA Jewelers. They immediately offered me the same size earrings for 12% less. I realize diamonds vary in other measures, such as quality, but Diamonds on Wabash had already quoted me for their lowest quality diamonds, saying you couldn't tell the difference between the two anyway. Diamonds on Wabash was otherwise helpful and the employee was nice, but the use of the "rope-a-dope" Yelp ad was off-putting. Also, I just couldn't justify paying more for the same product. read more

I stopped in at a few places on Jewelers Row but it was hard to decide which store to go with because they all quoted similar prices and many have good reviews on Yelp. I ended up deciding on Diamonds on Wabash because of the relaxed atmosphere, well-curated collection, friendly all-female staff, and their responsiveness to my questions via email. My husband I had our rings custom made. They did a wonderful job taking our budget into account and accommodating our desire to avoid diamonds, despite the fact that "diamonds" is in their title! They made a gorgeous rose gold morganite ring for me, accented by white sapphires, and a matching rose gold band. For my husband they made a white gold ring with exterior border accents. Our youngest child turned one last week. In my mind, that meant sleeping through the night, fewer bottles to wash, and putting gates on the stairs as our boy learned to crawl. As excited as we were for our third child entering his second year of life, it also meant that I was one year overdue for my wife's 'push' present. I embraced the 21st century custom of giving her presents for our first two children, but I became distracted when our third child was born. Fortunately, Joanna at Diamonds on Wabash was ready to help. I discovered the store on Yelp. With numerous five star reviews, it was worth the walk over to the store. I explained to Joanna that I was looking for a ring for my wife. Joanna listened carefully to my needs and explained that if I came back the next day she would have loose stones that I could choose from to make a custom ring. Joanna gave me a firm price and encouraged me to look at other stores to compare her pricing and selection. After leaving her store, I walked into two other stores and phoned four other stores describing exactly what Joanna had just priced out for me. Their prices were significantly higher and the salesmen were more aggressive pushing their product than Joanna. I returned the following day and examined the stones she had procured for me. Joanna showed me a wide selection of stones of various quality levels. She readily answered my questions and put my mind at ease with my purchase. I was never under any pressure to buy and she encouraged me to keep looking until I felt confident in my purchase. At one point, she talked me out of adding diamonds to the ring because they would take away from the main focus of the ring. I've never experienced a salesperson talk me out of spending more money. I told her that her pricing was much better than other jewelers. She explained that Diamonds on Wabash pricing is set to develop a relationship with their customers so they become repeat customers and not just one-time shoppers. Diamonds on Wabash had the custom ring ready in three days as promised. My wife was thrilled with the quality as well as my ability to give her a push present for our third child. Balance was restored in our home. Although, other dealers in the Jewelers Row were accommodating, Diamonds on Wabash's pricing and selection far surpassed their competition. Very professional, friendly and reliable service! The staff is very courteous. Iliana was my gemologist and assisted me throughout the process. I came in to get a ring resized and engraved. Upon inspection with a hand microscope, she found that one of the diamonds were chipped and had some scratches. They were able to repair it and had it cleaned and polished. It was pristine when I came to pick it up! The price was very reasonable as well. They are able to do service same day but Ive opted for next day pick up. Recommended! read more

I had one of my diamond rings reset here, and while the staff was very friendly about the whole process I wasn't super happy with the way my ring tuned out. I had the band reset and wanted a specific type of prong setting, which they said they could do but then called later to say they can't. And while the ring still looks good, the way they set the band to my diamond left a slight discoloration in the band (where i'm thinking they sautered it together). All in all, the ring looks fine.
