Horrible experience getting my fiancé engagement ring repaired at the Glenbrook Mall (Fort Wayne) location. Was called a liar and treated poorly by an employee there. Was told it'd be done in 2 weeks. They ended up shipping THREE different times which took over a month to get it back. No one emailed or called me to update me, I had to call several times to check on the status. Talked to customer service several times and nothing was done. Not professional at all!! read more

I just want to give everyone the heads up about kay jewelers in the Glenbrook mall. First off we didn't buy the engagement ring at kay in the mall but kay outlet online. They are the closest thing so that's where we were told would service us. I gave my fiancé her ring November. I purchased in July. I know I took forever. Blah blah. Well she wore the ring for a week and I told her she should go get it inspected and cleaned. Update her 6 month inspection for the diamond warranty. She walks in. The manager doesn't inspect the ring but he cleans it and sends her on her way. Next day she notices that the Leo diamond inside the shank was missing. This was upsetting being it was brand new. The ring was sent out to be repaired. She has complained about the ring constantly snagging on everything since we purchased the ring. They were supposed to take care of this issue all the times it's been in the shop. Still snags. She still has to take it off just to put on clothing. A month later a different diamond fell out again. Well my fiancé planned it so she dropped off the ring To replace the diamond and get it sized and 2 weeks away we would get the ring back a day before we leave to plan our wedding in Florida. Well it gets to that day. She calls and is told. We just now looked at your ring and realized it was a Leo. (After it had already been with them for 2.5 weeks.)We have to order your diamond it will be 3-5 weeks. I called and told them this was unacceptable. That we would come get the ring with the missing diamond and order the diamond. She can drop off the ring when the diamond comes in. Well here we are in May. The shank breaks literally in half where it was sized. Looks like shit. Can tell it wasn't done properly. I told Kay's I am tired of their shit service and want the extended warranty money back so we could go to a private jeweler and have it repaired properly. Do you think they did that? No. They said we have used it too many times to get a refund! Used it too many times? fixing the shit quality ring you sold us in the beginning...had you done your job right the first time, we wouldn't have to continue sending it in!. I have left voicemail with the district manager that won't return my call. The general manager can't even call me. He goes through his manager. I am telling you that you would probably get better service from a pawn shop. This place is a joke and won't stand behind their products. Our last solution was we pick out a ring of equal value to Whitney's ring. Well since I purchased the ring from the outlet, it's no longer available. I wanted to get something just as nice. We all know how much mark up there is in jewelry. 300% well what do you think they offer? Well we will give you a gift card with your refund on it and you can pick something else out. Nope. Can't touch anything close to Whitney's ring for what I actually paid for it. My fault it's defective and can't have it out of the shop? This place is a joke. Please share and save your money. Men - Run in Terror So my GF and I go to the mall. Her chain/pendant broke once, so I figure I will get her a new chain so neither of us has to worry. We try to look from the outside because we know what awful experiences these places can be with high pressure sales techniques. Setting one person against another, for example. This was literally the worst. We want a chain. A $299 chain. The sales person looks at a rings she is wearing, and brings out a $3,999 ring that is similar, and could be an engagement ring. Mind you, our relationship isn't at that point yet. He asks about my job and says, 'ahh, so they compensate well, don't they?' So he establishes I do fine, then starts with, 'how much is she worth to you' while she is standing there. Does he think I am going to pop the question, or give an answer, at Kay Effing Jewelers? He brings out another ring, again, diamond, for $1,999. Goes through similar questions. I can't imagine a more rude, or inappropriate conversation. Of course, I have to keep it smiles and comments, because my GF is standing there, looking at the rings and the chain. So think about this...to buy a chain, I am asking questions about my job, my income, how far along a relationship is, where I live, etc. Then, when I finally fend off all of this, he adds the 'service plan' without asking. An additional $60 he thought he could slip in. So trust me on this. Never, ever, go to Kay Jewelers. Especially Fort Wayne. Don't make eye contact. Walk in a wide arc around them. My fiancé bought a necklace from Kay Jewelers for me a couple years ago. He also purchased the life time warranty with it. Since receiving my necklace the chain has broke multiple times in the same place. Every time they send it in they end up welding it, however that doesn't seem to be working since it brakes in the same place every single time! After it broke the second time I asked them if I could just get a new chain and they said it would have to brake three times in the same place before I could get a new one. Guess what!! My necklace broke for the fourth time! So I took it in to get replaced finally since it broke for the fourth time. However, when I took it in for the FOURTH time the lady said that it was my fault that the chain keeps breaking because I wear it everyday and had stretched out the chain...............I'm sorry that your jewelry is not made to with stand someone wearing it on a daily basis! Anyway, when I took my necklace in for the fourth time the lady could not find where I took my necklace in the three times before.... so I did not get a new chain!! They had to send it again to be welded for the fourth time in the SAME place! I am now afraid to wear my necklace because if the chain breaks while I wear it I have the chance of losing the charm to the necklace and Kay's will not replace the charm under the warranty if it is lost. In my opinion this is very poor customer service!! I shouldn't be afraid to wear my necklace in fear that I would lose my charm from my chain that keeps breaking. Do not give this place your business. I made the mistake of purchasing my wife's wedding band from this Kay's and since then it has been nothing but a hassle. Don't let the shiny rings fool you, the entire staff here is rude and unhelpful. My wife went in to have the stone reset since it had fallen out and walks into the store where there are FOUR employees doing nothing. The first staff member completely ignores my wife and brushes her off. The next two do the EXACT same thing. My wife searches this tiny store with 6 employees in it for 20 fucking minutes trying to get someone to help her get her ring fixed. She finally exclaims, "Can anyone in here help me?" and someone finally steps up to half ass take her request. They have no idea what to charge, the employee DROPS the stone from nearly six feet up onto the hard ground and lets it sit there while she asks someone what they "think" they should charge for this repair. No one can come to a consensus and my wife eventually takes her ring back and goes next door to Rogers & Hollands. They have a set price for the fix and say it should be completed within the next 48 hours. Keep in mind, I paid hundreds of dollars to insure my wife's ring and they still tried charging her for fixing it. The time before this I went in to get my wife a Valentine's gift and was completely ignored by the staff. I am 6 foot 7 inches tall. I don't go unnoticed. Avoid this place at all costs. This review is actually for the Kay jewelers on Illinois Rd. in Fort Wayne but their store didn't come up to make a review. My fiancé and I dropped off my engagement ring 05/07/19 for sizing. We were told my ring would be back in the store in two weeks time. We called the store on 05/21/19 only to be told that ring wasn't in yet. We called yet again the next week and they said the ring wasn't there. They ended up calling us that day telling us the ring had come in ( by this time is the first week into June ). Once we got there, I tried on my ring and it was the correct size however the inside had black metal flashing (like black tarnish) sort of look on the inside and small nicks and gouges. I asked if that was normal, they said no. They did apologize. They said the ring would be expedited to be fixed and be back into the store by 5/12/19. I called the store yesterday to ask if the ring came in and sure enough, yet again, the ring isn't there. I haven't had my ring in over a month, basically since I got engaged. Their quality of work is terrible and the timing to get a ring sized is ridiculous. They have definitely ruined quiet a bit of my excitement in being newly engaged. It's a lot of money to have out there floating around not knowing where exactly your ring is and when you do get it back having the work be below any standard something so priceless. If you want a company that has costumer service and cares about your experience, don't go to Kay Jewelers. read more
