After Christmas I took it back because she wanted the same earrings in gold instead, hoping to do an even exchange....same earrings, just gold rather than silver. My experience was a little weird here. I was looking for a wedding band and there aren't a lot of good mall retailers in Reno, so this was one of the few places where I could try rings on in person. My current engagement ring has a moissanite stone. I wanted to try on weddings bands, and was open to either lab diamonds or moissanite because on pave settings (small stones), the stones cost the same amount but diamonds are easier to replace. I probably would have gone with lab diamonds because it's hard to find moissanite in brick and mortar retailers. I was also considering upgrading to a bigger stone in the future, and wanted to see a 3 carat diamond to compare side by side to my current stone. I tried on some bands which gave me more insight to what I wanted, though my size wasn't available unfortunately. But when I asked to see a diamond, this is when things got weird. I'm not sure if it was language barriers or the staff. The associate who helped me didn't know certain names of band styles so I think she was probably hired because she was related to the owner or manager. I told her my current ring had a moissanite stone, I was considering upgrading to a lab diamond. In most cases, upgrading means buying another ring. People who upgrade usually sell the old ring, keep it, or pass it down. But she didn't understand what upgrading meant. She actually thought I was trying to trade my ring for another ring in the store. They don't even sell moissanite so how does that work? If I wanted to buy a shirt, would I bring in one of my old shirts to Macy's (not purchased from Macy's) and ask to exchange it for a new one? That's just ridiculous. I get that there were language barriers but took what I said completely out of context. I told her I just wanted to see a 3 carat diamond to compare it to my current stone before I purchase a loose stone. But because of language barriers she had to ask a manager for help. The manager comes over and says "we don't have moissanite." I told her I asked to see a lab diamond. The associate had no idea what I was talking about and didn't know basic jewelry terms. She shows me a three carat diamond, but I asked if they have ideal cut and she said no. So if you care about the quality of your diamonds, this probably isn't the best place to look. In what world are you getting the ring to that temperature; moreover I told you what the stones were when i dropped it off and not ONCE did you tell me it would be an issue or that you couldnt do it. My husband purchased a wedding ring for me in December and we were due for a warranty check up on the ring. It was something they require you to do every 6 months to keep the warranty on the ring. I thought the ring was fine but was told by the sales lady that it was spinning in the setting and actually we never had actually purchased the warranty for the ring. She said we could pay $100 to get the setting fixed or $164.99 to buy the warranty. They said luckily enough their computer system still allowed us to add the warranty and charged us the $164.99. I was told it would take about 10 days but the receipt had a "promise date" of 3 weeks. The day before it was due for pick up I called to see if it was ready and if I could pick up the ring instead of my husband. The sales lady said it was there had not been repaired it had a note to send off again. She said they were "pushing appraisals" And it was sent to an appraisal place instead of a repair place. I had a bad feeling and asked how much longer it would take. She said they would let me know and they would put a rush on it. About 3 days later my husband got an email it was ready and I went to get the ring and it was clear that someone had switched my center stone (Diamond) for a far less quality Diamond. They suggested that it was dirty and to clean it with a toothbrush. I could see the cloudiness and inclusions with my naked eye and the original stone was a brilliant clear and natural Diamond. I filed an online case and was told to go to the store on a day when the manager was there so she could see it. She looked at it and compared the ring to their picture and only suggested she could send it out again to be swapped and the new stone would also have inclusions. I asked for my money back and they obliged, but the sentiment is gone with the ring and my faith in their professionalism is gone. It's hard for me to imagine giving a nationally recognized fine jewelry store a 1-star review, but it's happening. And Kay has definitely earned the 1-star over the span of 2 1/2 years of service for a small diamond ring that my boyfriend had given me as a Christmas gift in 2014. So over the years I've taken the ring in to be inspected and cleaned every 6 months per the warrantee. I've had minor issues with the gold band wearing so thin that the band is no longer a whole circle, which is understandable to a point since gold is such a soft metal. Additionally, there was a loose setting once. It was always annoying that I had to send the ring away for these repairs and it took anywhere between 2 and 3 weeks to get the ring back. What bothered me most recently is that 2 of the main diamonds fell out!! I had no idea where or when this may have happened, but obviously the setting was loose since I don't do manual labor or anything that would be rough on the ring on a daily basis. I took the ring (and all of my paperwork) into the store to get the diamonds replaced. The woman who helped me on the drop-off did not know how to use the iPad to log the repair, and she kept questioning if I was telling her the right name/phone number/email/address of the purchaser. She refused to look at the paperwork that I brought, and no other associates came to assist her with the iPad. Eventually, she created a new account for the ring using my boyfriend's first name as his first and last name. Ugh! Promised to have the ring back by June 10th as well as a confirmation email. Well, no email ever came. June 10th came and went and I received no phone call about my ring. I decided to go into the store on June 13th, and apparently the ring had to be sent some where else "far away, but I'm not supposed to tell people that." So this different employee told me that she would call when the ring was ready, but she had no time line on when that might be because the people with the ring were in a different time zone and not reachable by phone. Hmmmm.... Well, June 21st I finally get a phone call (to the secondary phone number that I gave). The ring was finally ready. I made it into the store on the 26th. I have to say that I was underwhelmed with the employee who helped me this time. She had very little to even say to me besides where to sign to receive my ring back. I will never purchase another piece of jewelry from Kay, or any of its other brands. The product is horrible quality and customer service is subpar or average at best each time I've been in. I have a Claddagh ring so the edges of the ring curves with a heart and crown. My boyfriend brought me in to look for a wedding band to wear next to my Claddagh but I had my doubts about finding a band that would conform to its shape. Melanie took one look at my ring (glanced at it for a split second really) and she immediately walked me over to a silver band with a cross over design. The cross over design had a perfect V shape edge that lay right up to my ring perfectly. The manager at this Kay was absolutely rude and unprofessional when I went in to look at engagement rings with my mom. She acted as if helping us was an inconvenience to her and she had a horrible attitude. I asked her the color of the diamond in the ring I was looking at and she told me it didn't matter and basically dodged the question. A few moments later I inquired about the cut of the diamond and she actually laughed in my face and replied "I already told you." I replied to tell her that I hadn't even asked about the cut yet, but had asked previously about the color. Both my mom and I were so appalled and disappointed with this experience that I told my boyfriend never to buy from Kay as they do not even deserve our business. My fiancé couldn't remember where he bought my engagement ring but he was almost certain it was Kay jewelers so I called the one in sparks the lady said yeah to bring it in and when I got there she couldn't find the right ring on his profile, so I decided to call the one at the Meadowood mall and that's when I talked to Natalia she couldn't find it either and gave me the number for customer support thinking since it was bought in a different state they'd be able to help me better, five minutes later I get a call and she asked if she could txt me a picture of one she found on his profile it still wasn't the correct ring, she told me she'd keep looking and if it was ok text me if she found anymore, I said of course and not even five minutes after that she had texted me a picture of the ring! I was beyond ecstatic I had called every jeweler with no luck and then Natalia went the extra mile for me and I can now get my ring fixed! Today my husband and I went into Kays looking for a wedding band and the lady was showing us 900-600 dollar wedding bands when my husband had asked if she had anything cheaper like 150 to 200 she laughed in his face and gave me a weird look. The look she gave gave off the oh so he's broke vibe, I had then told her that I don't appreciate being laughed at and asked her again if she had something in that price and she rolled her eyes and was being snarky showing us engagement rings and said this is all we would have in that price range and she was just being rude and disgusting. Once my husband and I left I called and she answered the phone I asked for her manager, she then proceeded to say she was the manager, i told told her that her behavior was disgusting and uncalled for she then said she didn't laugh at us and was trying to accommodate our budget which is bullshit, and she also said "well I'm sorry you're feeling very emotional about this and was trying to belittle me which is absolutely disgusting and uncalled for. Shoot, this was not a pleasant experience as i had hoped for. My ring is from Kays in another state, arriving early into town for a flight home we ran into the Meadowood store for cleaning. The young sales lady *Kelly* was nice to work with until we asked to see a few items over what she was hot to sell. Very short temperament which is not the norm in this chain store. In June 2016, I purchased a diamond wedding ring for my fiancee at Kay Jewelers. My wife and I frequently took the ring back to Kay's, as required, to check for loose diamonds. In a visit to Kay Jewelers in Meadowood Mall, Reno, NV on February 14th, 2016, Kay Jewelers told my wife and I that a diamond was loose, and that Kay's had to send my wife's wedding ring to their home office for tightening. After inquiring for several weeks as to when the ring would be returned (and outright lied to), Kay admitted that their entire shipment of rings had been "lost" during shipping. Kay's admitted no guilt, and showed no remorse or sensitivity. They told my wife that they could make her another one like it...just wait several weeks for ordering, shipping, etc., no big deal, one ring was the same as another. Myself and my wife are heartbroken. Kay Jewelers will not return our money, and we don't want a cheap "replacement", "lookalike" ring. Kay Jewelers is a cold, heartless, company, with employees just as heartless. Think before you give this corporation your hard-earned dollars. If I could give negative stars I would. I do not recommend this business in any location. My husband and I paid for services and goods from a store located in Reno, NV. The store sold us merchandise, we paid to have it engraved and saudered. These items we purchased were important to my husband and I as they were an important piece of our wedding ceremony. When we got our merchandise back, they screwed up the engraving in my merchandise and gave my husband back merchandise that wasn't his. Although it is the same product, it was not the merchandise that we had during our wedding ceremony. The store claimed it was the same item but my husband and I verified the boron levels in the merchandise we purchased did not match the boron levels in the merchandise we got back. My engraving is unreadable and the store manager, Natalia responded rudely that they could send the merchandise out to be re-engraved. To do so, they have to shave off precious metal and re-engrave thereby reducing the value of the my merchandise again. Natalia refuses to accept responsibility and has lied to us in which we have proof of her lies. When she started lying to us, we demanded to speak to her supervisor which is the district representative Scott Hamamoto. He was not prompt in returning our calls to him nor did he express any interest in dealing with the situation, either the merchandise issue or his employees' poor customer service skills. I contacted corporate to indicate to them that there is a real issue here. I was informed I would be contacted by a case manager within two days. I was contacted by Lela at the corporate complaint office within the two business day timeframe. She told me she spoke with the regional manager and she felt the merchandise returned to my husband was not the one we submitted and was ashamed to learn of such poor craftsmanship regarding the engraving. She informed me she needed to do more research and would contact me within a week. It has now been more than two weeks. Lela has not contacted me nor has she returned any of my phone calls. Next step, I'm contacting the BBB and the news. Kay Jewelers stole our original merchandise and won't do anything to correct it. They devalued my merchandise and refuse to correct the issue without further damaging the product. I will never shop from there again and I make sure to tell everyone I can not purchase from them or any sister/underlying companies associated with Kay Jewelers. read more

They have a ton of nice jewelry with a wide selection. The reason I am giving a low rate is for the employees who work there. I walked in today and I am a pretty young man I'm only 20 years old looking to buy fashion jewelry. When I walked in I wasn't greeted nor approached by either of the two employees who weren't busy with any other customer both just standing behind the counter trying to look busy. I looked all around seeing if they'd approach me and they didn't. Finally I stared one down until she was basically forced to greet me and asked where the men's rings were. She pointed and didn't even bother showing me to the glass case and the store is small. Long story short after she saw I was a serious buyer she all of a sudden had a great mood with tons to say about everything and anything that came up during the whole transaction. After that she was nice and helpful seemed genuine but just thought it was funny how quickly they judged whether I was even worth treating like a customer or not. My wife wanted to get me a new ring for my birthday. We went to the store together and purchased a ring from them. However, I never received the ring and had cancelled my order. When we placed the order, they told me that I would get an email when it was ready for pickup. This is where the story starts. I received 2 separate e-mails saying that my ring was completed. When I went to the store the first time, my ring was not even there for pick up. The staff told me that I should have called before going in. Why was it my responsibility to call when I already received an email. 2 weeks later, I received the second email saying the ring was ready. I called the store and was told the ring was there. I made a second trip to pick up the ring. When I got there, the same staff told me that the ring was there but the size reconfiguration was not completed. She told me that I should have checked if the size of the ring was the right size on the phone. What in the world was wrong with this company? I was treated like it was all my fault for not checking before I went in. I will never go to this store again and will do everything I can to tell everyone to stay away from this company. We have visited this store twice to have my ring checked for under the warranty. On the second visit, we were also looking for a simple birthstone ring, so we started looking around while they checked my ring. I had been looking online, so I had an idea of what I wanted, I just wanted to see them in person, and make a decision and purchase one. When we asked if they had more, the sales person, said oh yes, and walked over to the Levian counter and pulled out a gaudy, $3500 ring...mmm, yeah, not at all what I am looking for. So I told her no, that's not what I want, just simple, single stone, do you have more like these? Her attitude turned immediately, and she was obviously not happy to continue waiting on us. I looked at several rings in the $150 to $300 price range, which she took out of the case, one at a time, putting them back, and locking the case each time. FIne no biggie, until again she says, oh wait, I have one you might like, and goes over to the Levian case, brings back 2 Levian rings probably about $6000 worth, and totally not what I want, for me to look at. She won't take more than one of the cheap ones out at a time, but no issue of taking 2 big ugly ones out, and carrying those around. We found one, and I liked it. Went home and ordered it online. I wouldn't recommend this store for other than having the warranty check done, or better yet, just buy elsewhere. read more
