My wedding ring was loose and I needed a jeweler to tighten up my diamond. The original place I got my ring was on a cruise ship jewelry store that is located in New York so it wasn't ideal to send it to them. I didn't realize there was this store here that is fairly close to my house which is nice. I stopped in and they only charged me $40 I think or $45 to tighten the ring. They were very nice. Unfortunately the ring got loose again, but they tightened it again without any charge which was very nice of them. When they were tightening my ring I was walking around and looking at the other items they had and they looked very nice. A variety of different jewels and stones available. I noticed some black onyx and Tahitian pearls which are my other two favorite stones other than diamonds. I should've asked if they have lab grown diamonds, but I didn't think to ask. The gentlemen was asking what kind of stone my ring was in the center because he's never seen such a color for a diamond and I told him it was a fancy blue diamond. I called Taylor and all seemed good. I broke my necklace clasp and was here from out of town and me having my necklace on is so important I feel naked without it and I fight X-RAY techs when they ask. So after expressing importance and driving there. She said she needs to order clasp and I asked is there a temporary fix you can give? She said no and that she can get part by friday and have my necklace done by Saturday or Monday after I said my situation. She clearly didn't pay attention. Moving on, I went to a different jeweler afterwards and my gosh UNREAL meaning in a good way. I was there for 10 minutes and guess what? They didn't have the clasp either but she ( in 3 minutes) did something to where it will be a temporary fix. I enjoyed my trip with necklace on and just got home and a place put a new clasp in 30 minutes. I am sorry but young generation is so lazy I can't even imagine. Naturally younger workers are lazy and the lady who helped me at other place is closer to my generation where we WORKED hard and didn't make excuses. So I suggest that Taylor get it together and work instead of just no I cant. It was proven at the other place and I am back home now dropped my necklace off an hour ago it was ready in 30 minutes and I am about to go there and pick it up. I called at the beginning of May to make a fist time appointment for when my daughter Kiley was in town for Fathers Day weekend. I had given her a 10 karat amethyst that was my Mom's. I missed it so terribly that I asked for it back... this is so out of character for me and I felt really bad. I came up with a great idea. I had a 5 karat amethyst that was the matching earring to the big one. I thought how great to make her a custom ring for her birthday gift. As the years go by it's harder and harder to think of nice gifts besides cold hard cash. Years ago I had a 3 karat pear ring that my husband for our 30th wedding anniversary. I took it to a local jeweler in the Bay Area to get it appraised. Years later when I was in Pawn Stars in Vegas the clerk asked me if I'd like it cleaned and he told me it was a CZ! For those you don't know that's a cubic zirconia. In other words a fake! I was in shock and started freaking out... When we got back to our hotel room I called our family attorney and he started a lawsuit against the jeweler that stole that diamond from me. He settled the suit for cash because if I full prosecuted him it would have been in jail for a felony, Anyway I've always been very leery of leaving my jewels with a stranger..My first experience in Reno with a jewelry place was negative! They were recommended by a family member when I was getting married. I wanted a ring that was made from both of our parents wedding rings since our parents were both divorced and both of our fathers had passed away. Met with him told him I wanted the diamonds in roses or flowers with leaves and vines and showed pics etc. He was cool and nice and seemed like he was on the same page. As our wedding day was getting closer he still hadn't finished the ring. In addition to the diamonds from our parents I wanted to add tiny blue diamonds that my fiancé had gotten me for my birthday. The night before our wedding I asked BTW if the ring was done yet. It wasn't but he said he would be working on it and it would be ready when I needed it. I asked if he knew I was getting married the next day and he panicked and stated that he would begin working on it now. I don't know if he forgot but it wasn't even started. Then I started getting really nervous and he reassured me that he would be done by the time the wedding started. So 2 hrs before the wedding at the venue he brings this ring that I had not even seen. It wasn't at all how I wanted it. It was sloppy and rushed but I had no other choice than to get married with this ring. He said I could bring it back afterward and he would fix it. Which is not at all how I wanted to do it. I ended up bringing it back because it really was bad and he knew it. In the end he changed it and it was closer to what I had asked for but still not at all what we agreed to. He also didn't use all of the blue diamonds and said he had them in his safe. I forgot that he still had them because I went on my honeymoon etc. But when I got around to asking when I could come pick them up he didn't respond and deleted me on Facebook. They reshaped my ring and cleaned it for free, and repaired the crack for a very reasonable price. I am extremely happy with the repair and friendly service. I have a pair diamond earrings my grandmother gifted me when she passed. The setting was not quite my style and stuck out a bit too much on my ears. I brought them to BVW and they reset them in another setting. I believe they called it the martini glass setting. It was a simple setting that allowed the diamond to be more flush to my ear. So pretty. They look so much better on me now. The jewelers were very helpful and fast. They even cleaned some other jewelry while I was there at no cost. I can't say enough good things about BVW Jewelers. I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend and I wanted to go somewhere that was LGBTQ+ friendly and I remember seeing some commercials that BVW was. I also liked the idea of buying from a locally owned business. I had a general idea of what I wanted but knew absolutely nothing about rings/diamonds. I think the true test of a business is when things don't go perfectly. Life isn't easy and stuff happens. I have a previous family heirloom ring that I have been wanting to size for a long time. I developed a bit of analysis paralysis when deciding which company I would trust with such a precious gift. Our family typically goes to a jeweler in San Francisco but with COVID and time restraints I knew I could find the perfect place right here in Reno. After lots of research I decided to take the ring here. I wanted to enjoy this ring and not just look at it longingly in my jewelry box. I met Dane, the owners son who was enthusiastic and kind, eager to please. When I came back to get the ring it unfortunately was too small due to the style. I learned a lot about ring sizing, my knuckles are bigger than my fingers and the type of band and style matters. Like their jewelry the people here are artists. We used glass cleaner to get the ring off and I came back a few times to double check the ring before we sized it back up a tad. To my amazement, the staff and my enjoyment of my ring sizing got better and better. I met the owner the girls who helped me recognized me and knew my name even with the mask and I now have the worlds most perfect ring to remember my great grandmother by. I love this shop and will be telling everyone and anyone about my experience here. I even was able to witness the sweet purchase of a present between a husband and wife, the staff was so good not to ruin the surprise. Update ::: I unfortunately had to get a ring repaired after it suddenly became too tight and had to get cut off ( I will spare you the details on that saga) and where else would I come but the BEST JEWELRY STORE ever ?!? I was so sad ay the state of my beautiful ring and my husband was worried it could never be repaired. I knew if anyone could fix it it was BVW. I simply couldn't trust anyone else. The family got straight to work repairing the ring and then resizing it so that I could now wear it on a different finger. It is a very thick ring and is unique and I knew it was going to be especially difficult to repair and size and yet they were flawless. Perfect. This store wins awards and I totally understand why they do. I love love love these amazing people and I know you will too.
